These days, teenagers are heavily influenced (影响) by the media (媒体). Many of them use the Internet for thousands of hours. That’s more time than they spend with teachers at school, and even more than the hours they spend watching TV and reading newspapers.
However, some studies show a serious issue in the society: today’s teenagers are short of media literacy (素养). That’s to say, they have difficulty telling the right from wrong about the information. One study was done on middle school students. It showed that more than 80% of them couldn’t tell the difference between real news and advertisements (广告) that looked like news.
Professor Kevin John tried to help his students learn media literacy. He gave an example to show the importance of media literacy. In the example, two news stations report an awful snowstorm. One pays attention to the terrible road conditions. The other pays attention to kids playing in the snow. “News stations (新闻台) tell you their feelings. These depend on the opinions of the news reporter,” said John. “A person who has media literacy will know that each story is just about one part of the event at that time. There is more going on.”
Some people think schools are the best place to teach media literacy. Others believe everyone, from parents to reporters, should help teenagers learn it.
As for the best time to start learning media literacy, many people suggest the age of twelve. But some ideas can be taught even earlier. “It’s never too early to start learning media literacy,” John said.

Every school has rules for students to follow. But what happens when students break the rules?
In the UK, when students don’t behave well at school, they will be given a warning. But if they go on behaving badly, like talking over the teacher, they’ll be punished. And there are a lot of ways for students to be punished!
Normally, there are five punishments in UK schools: detention (课后留校), isolation (隔离) education unit (IEU), supervision (监管), suspension (停学) and expulsion (开除)。
If you receive a detention, you’ll find yourself sitting in a room with your teacher during break, lunch or even worse, after school. The longest time for a detention is two hours. Depending on how naughty you’ve been, you can get two detentions in one day!
If you get IEU, you have to stay in a room alone all day to finish your lessons.
Supervision means that you cannot take part in PE lessons. In other classes, a teacher will always keep an eye on you while you sit in the front of the class. Suspension means you cannot go to school for some time. The most serious punishment you can ever receive is expulsion. You can’t go to the school any more. You’ll have to find another school to go to, and it will be on your school record.
Punishments are a good way to discipline students. If you don’t want to get punished, behave well!

In the age of AI, educators are entering a new world of teaching. It’s exciting that high technology is helping students learn in powerful ways. However, teachers also have worries, such as how to guide students in using AI tools like learning more deeply instead of just using them to copy homework.
Although their influence on education is still uncertain, the use of AI in education is not new. AI is very good at finding what students are ready to learn next. For example, in an English class, it can help to know which words students have mastered and which ones they have not. This helps students avoid spending too much time on what they already know well, which is a great way to make learning more personalized (个性化的).
During the process, AI can help teachers know about students who may have difficulty in learning and then take proper action. AI will also open doors to creating intelligent (智能) tools. Take writing in English as an example, AI can understand students’ writing skills as soon as they finish their writing tasks, and provide personalized advice on different writing styles. It also helps teachers better understand their students.
Although the future with Al is not yet clear, it’s important to focus on how AI helps students succeed as a tool.

A.Students’. B.Teachers’. C.AI tools’. D.Powerful ways’.
33.Why does the writer mention students’ learning English words?
