W: Well, there’ll be plenty of buses, so no problem for him to use public transport, but unfortunately, there isn’t a shower in the flat, and that location is likely to be noisy, of course. And I’m sure most of you are familiar with what needs to be done, the rules, and the schedule, but let me review it once more. So, first of all, clothing: since it’s still quite cold in March, you’ll definitely need to wear a pair of good waterproof boots. Make sure you don’t come in your sports shoes as those will get wet very easily. Waterproof trousers and a good jacket are also advisable. Now, I’m sure you remember that you don’t need to bring protective gloves and big plastic bags, as the school will provide you with those at the beach before we start cleaning. During the event, there’ll be water and orange juice available if you’re thirsty, but if you think you might feel hungry while we’re actually collecting the rubbish, then you’d better bring some snacks with you, as there won’t be any food at that time. After we finish, however, a light lunch will be offered, and we’ll gather together and have a pleasant picnic on the beach! A Enhance your student journey at The University of Sydney! B Sitting in the garden for my friend’s birthday, I felt a buzz (振动) in my pocket. My heart raced when I saw the email sender’s name. The email started off: “Dear Mr Green, thank you for your interest” and “the review process took longer than expected.” It ended with “We are sorry to inform you…” and my vision blurred (模糊). The position — measuring soil quality in the Sahara Desert as part of an undergraduate research program — had felt like the answer I had spent years looking for. I had put so much time and emotional energy into applying, and I thought the refusal meant the end of the road for my science career. So I was shocked when, not long after the email, Professor Mary Devon, who was running the program, invited me to observe the work being done in her lab. I jumped at the chance, and a few weeks later I was equally shocked — and overjoyed — when she invited me to talk with her about potential projects I could pursue in her lab. What she proposed didn’t seem as exciting as the original project I had applied to, but I was going to give it my all. I found myself working with a robotics professor on techniques for collecting data from the desert remotely. That project, which I could complete from my sofa instead of in the burning heat of the desert, not only survived the lockdown but worked where traditional methods didn’t. In the end, I had a new scientific interest to pursue. When I applied to graduate school, I found three programs promising to allow me to follow my desired research direction. And I applied with the same anxious excitement as before. When I was refused from one that had seemed like a perfect fit, it was undoubtedly difficult. But this time I had the perspective (视角) to keep it from sending me into panic. It helped that in the end I was accepted into one of the other programs I was also excited about. Rather than setting plans in stone, I’ve learned that sometimes I need to take the opportunities that are offered, even if they don’t sound perfect at the time, and make the most of them. 24. How did the author feel upon seeing the email sender’s name? A. Anxious but expectant. B. Disappointed and angry. C. Surprised but confused. D. Settled and relieved. 25. After talking with Professor Devon, the author decided to ________. A. criticise the review process B. stay longer in the Sahara Desert C. apply to the original project again D. put his heart and soul into the lab work 26. What can we infer about the author’s experience of applying for graduate school? A. He regarded the “perfect fit” program as his only research choice. B. His calm response to refusal was closely related to his earlier experience. C. He got accepted by all the three applied programs. D. He had to change his desired research direction due to the refusal. 27. Which of the following can be the best title for the passage? A A Perfect Graduate Program. B. An Exciting Project in the Sahara Desert. C. A Refusal That Led to New Opportunities. D. A Professor Who Changed My Career 【答案】24. A 25. D 26. B 27. 根据第一段中“My heart raced when I saw the email sender’s name. The email started off: “Dear Mr Green, thank you for your interest” and “the review process took longer than expected.” It ended with “We are sorry to inform you…” and my vision blurred (模糊). 故选A项。 根据第三段中“What she proposed didn’t seem as exciting as the original project I had applied to, but I was going to give it my all. 结合倒数第二段中“When I was refused from one that had seemed like a perfect fit, it was undoubtedly difficult. But this time I had the perspective (视角) to keep it from sending me into panic. 通读全文,结合最后一段“Rather than setting plans in stone, I’ve learned that sometimes I need to take the opportunities that are offered, even if they don’t sound perfect at the time, and make the most of them. 故C项“A Refusal That Led to New Opportunities.(一次拒绝带来新的机会)”最适合作为文章标题。故选C项。 C Fashion designers have a big say in what’s considered beautiful. They pick who’s in their shows and ads, shaping what’s celebrated as beauty. But this power also means responsibility — it can be used to leave people out or lift them up. When I was young, fashion was my world. I pored over various fashion magazines at my local bookstore, desiring to be tall, thin, and have long, shiny hair to fit the ideal. I wanted to be like those models, so I stopped eating. It was a tough time; my eating disorder consumed me. It took years to break free from its control, allowing me to focus on my true passions. For so long, the fashion industry has worked hard to set an ideal of beauty that celebrates thin, young, white, and able-bodied models as the ideal. It’s impossible not to be exposed to images of models that have been photoshopped to where there’s not a single spot in sight. This idea is everywhere, and it hurts people. Shockingly, around 91% of women are unhappy with their appearance. It’s sad that teens grow up in a society where they deny themselves. There’s progress — models and musicians promote body positivity. However, the pressure to meet unrealistic standards remains. Changing these standards involves bravely celebrating diverse beauty. True inclusivity (包容) goes beyond appearances. It requires diverse decision-makers, photographers, and casting directors cooperating. Young designers often overlook this crucial aspect. Hiring plus-size or transgender photographers, diverse casting directors, or makeup artists who understand the importance of accommodating to various skin tones, is vital for an overall approach. We aimed to redefine the “bikini body” standards. However, the goal isn’t for the consumer’s body to change but for clothes to accommodate all sizes. We need more fashion for everyone, no matter their size or where they shop. It’s our responsibility as designers to challenge this narrow beauty definition. My hope is for future teens to escape the pressures I faced, developing a fashion industry celebrating diverse identities. 28. What does the underlined phrase “pored over” in paragraph 2 probably mean? A. Read attentively. B. Compared thoroughly. C. Sorted carefully. D. Recommended sincerely. 29. What is the impact of the initial beauty ideals set by the fashion industry? A. Contributing to self-confidence. B. Bringing individuality. C. Focusing on true passions. D. Causing self-denial. 30. What can be inferred about true inclusivity? A. It encourages personal effort. B. It calls for diversity and cooperation. C. It focuses on physical appearances. D. It satisfies traditional standards. 31. Which of the following will the author probably agree with? A. Customers will change their body shapes. B. Future fashion industry will redefine teenagers. C. Fashion should celebrate everyone’s uniqueness. D. “Bikini body” standards should be strengthened. A 29. D 30. B 31. 根据第二段“When I was young, fashion was my world. I pored over various fashion magazines at my local bookstore, desiring to be tall, thin, and have long, shiny hair to fit the ideal.(我年轻时,时尚就是我的世界。 故选A项。 根据第三段“For so long, the fashion industry has worked hard to set an ideal of beauty that celebrates thin, young, white, and able-bodied models as the ideal. It’s impossible not to be exposed to images of models that have been photoshopped to where there’s not a single spot in sight. This idea is everywhere, and it hurts people. Shockingly, around 91% of women are unhappy with their appearance. It’s sad that teens grow up in a society where they deny themselves.(长期以来,时尚产业一直致力于树立一种美的标准,将苗条、年轻、白皮肤且身体健全的模特奉为美的典范。 It requires diverse decision - makers, photographers, and casting directors cooperating.(真正的包容超越外表。 根据最后一段“We need more fashion for everyone, no matter their size or where they shop. It’s our responsibility as designers to challenge this narrow beauty definition. My hope is for future teens to escape the pressures I faced, developing a fashion industry celebrating diverse identities.(我们需要为每个人提供更多时尚选择,无论他们身材如何或在哪里购物。 D So, you’ve finished that dull book. You sat through the movie you paid for, super bored. Stood in a long queue for that milk tea. Paid much for the luxury handbag — expensive nonsense. What do these have in common? They’re all examples of what economists call “sunk costs” (沉没成本): the price you’ve already paid — in time, money, effort, suffering, for an item or an experience — holds you to them. It’s a phenomenon we all recognize. It affects our behavior in ways that can be unreasonable. But we do it. To avoid the situation, economists tell us to make decisions based mainly on future value, not past investment. If the ongoing cost outweighs the expected benefit, one should cut their losses and walk away. It hurts, yes, but this cold, clear logic protects us from going broke. Yet, life is rarely so neatly calculated. This purely economic view raises difficult questions. Does the value of an experience lie only in its outcome, or also in the process? A joyful journey with an ordinary goal and a painful one aimed at a splendid achievement, which one is more worthwhile? When it comes to education, the sunk costs theory doesn’t seem applicable (适用的). Parents and teachers pour immeasurable amount of investment — love, time, hope, money — into the growth of a child. Will the child turn out the way they expect? No guarantee. If we view this through a strict cost-benefit angle, much of education can be written off as a “sunk cost.” Education is obviously different from the commercial world. A child’s growth cannot be planned like a business strategy; it unfolds like a unique and unpredictable story. We can’t dream his dreams or live his life; we can only build the stage, and light his path. In education we have to hold onto this faith: everything we do for a child is worthwhile. Every act of love is like offering light and water to a seed; while we can’t see its roots grow underground, we know it. That child will blossom (开花) someday. Not all that has cost is sunk. 32. Which of the following best describes the examples in paragraph 1? A. Boring but beneficial. B. Interesting but worthless. C. Meaningless and regrettable. D. Joyful and worthwhile. 33. What do economists advise us to do to avoid sunk costs? A. Focus on the outcome. B. Ignore the future losses. C. Calculate the past cost. D. Pursue the hidden gains. 34. What is the writer’s attitude towards the investment in education? A. Unconcerned. B. Critical. C. Hesitant. D. Favorable. 35. Why does the author write the text? A. To promote a principle. B. To challenge a concept. C. To correct a misbehavior. D. To present a phenomenon. C 33. A 34. D 35. 根据第一段“So, you’ve finished that dull book. You sat through the movie you paid for, super bored. Stood in a long queue for that milk tea. Paid much for the luxury handbag — expensive nonsense.(所以说,你总算把那本枯燥的书看完了? 根据第三段“To avoid the situation, economists tell us to make decisions based mainly on future value, not past investment.(为了避免这种情况,经济学家告诉我们,做决定应主要基于未来价值,而非过去的投入。)” 故选A项。 根据最后一段“In education we have to hold onto this faith: everything we do for a child is worthwhile. Every act of love is like offering light and water to a seed; while we can’t see its roots grow underground, we know it. That child will blossom (开花) someday. Not all that has cost is sunk.(在教育领域,我们必须坚守这样的信念:为孩子所做的每一件事都值得。 根据第四段“Yet, life is rarely so neatly calculated. This purely economic view raises difficult questions. 、第五段“When it comes to education, the sunk costs theory doesn’t seem applicable (适用的).(谈及教育,沉没成本理论似乎并不适用。)” Make an escape room With a little creativity, you can set up a fun challenge at home. An escape room is an exciting adventure. ___36___ While there are many escape rooms you can experience, you can also create many at home. Here’s how you can get started. First, choose a theme to make the game attractive. ___37___ A theme helps get everyone excited before the game even begins, and it will help you guide your direction as you create your clues (线索). Next, gather props to set the scene and design puzzles. Round up items like locks, small boxes, paper, pens, and decorations such as posters or drawings. ___38___ Now, create small challenges that lead players toward the final goal of escaping. For example, design a puzzle like: “I have legs, but don’t walk. I’m the place you sit and talk.” ___39___ That clue might help players find a key to a locked box. Then, players can unlock the box, which would hold the next clue. Hide the clues strategically. Map the escape route: Start at the end and work backward, picking spots for each clue and challenge. You could choose to have a prize at the finish line, like mini pumpkin cookies or other small prizes. Finally, do a test run. Ask adults to be test players to make sure the steps work in order. ___40___ Then, at game time, welcome your players, set a timer, and go! A. Write a backstory to immerse players in the theme. B. I was left feeling that everyone was watching — and judging — my every wrong move, which hit me really hard.  I tried to practice tai chi on my own, but found myself bored and aching from doing the same moves over and over again. After one week of effort, no progress could be seen — only growing frustration. How I wished I could perform as flexibly and smoothly as others. This feeling stayed with me, until one morning during a walk in the park, an elderly woman caught my attention. She was practicing tai chi with slow, graceful movements that carried a sense of peaceful determination. It was the most impressive tai chi I had ever seen, and compared to hers, my own efforts suddenly felt like a complete disaster. I sat down on a bench nearby, my head lowered. A moment later, her gentle voice broke the silence. “Young friend, you carry a heavy cloud over you today,” she said, not as a stranger, but with the kindness of a grandmother. “Would you like to talk about it?” Her unexpected warmth caught me off guard. “It’s about tai chi,” I began, and then I told her about my disappointing performance. Hearing that, she smiled knowingly. “You remind me so much of myself when I first started tai chi.” She said, her voice warm with understanding. “ The secret isn’t in any single day, but in showing up — day after day, rain or shine. And time will do the rest.” Her words moved me deeply and my real tai chi journey began. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The day of my second tai chi performance finally came. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】参考范文: Her words moved me deeply and my real tai chi journey began. Instead of pushing myself too hard, I started small — fifteen minutes each time, focusing on the basics before gradually increasing the time and challenge. There were days when my muscles ached and my motivation faded, and I almost quit. Yet, the old woman’s inspiring words always gently pulled me back. After three months’ practice, my balance and flexibility improved. The once clumsy movements began to flow smoothly. Gone was the frustration and nervousness of the early days. So when the opportunity to perform came again, I signed up without hesitation. The day of my second tai chi performance finally came. I stepped onto the stage, my heart beating with hope and confidence. As the music started, my body followed: forwards and backwards, up and down, left and right. Each step was steady and fluent, just as I had practiced every day. I was completely absorbed in the feeling of harmony between my body and mind. When I finished, the audience remained still for a second, then broke into warm, lasting applause. I bowed and walked off the stage, knowing one thing for sure: persistence had quietly turned my struggle into strength. 词汇激活 行为类 ①集中注意力于:focus on/concentrate on ②报名:sign up/register/enter ③专注:be absorbed in/devote oneself to 情绪类 ①沮丧:frustration/discouragement ②毅力:persistence/perseverance 【点睛】【高分句型1】There were days when my muscles ached and my motivation faded, and I almost quit. C He got accepted by all the three applied programs. D. He had to change his desired research direction due to the refusal. 27. Which of the following can be the best title for the passage? A. A Perfect Graduate Program. B. An Exciting Project in the Sahara Desert. C. A Refusal That Led to New Opportunities. D. A Professor Who Changed My Career C Fashion designers have a big say in what’s considered beautiful. D So, you’ve finished that dull book. Make an escape room With a little creativity, you can set up a fun challenge at home. I tried to practice tai chi on my own but found myself bored and aching from doing the same moves over and over again. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $这是雅里中学2025年下学期期末考试高一听力部分。 What type of membership do you have?
