【中考真题】
Meng Xiang was crazy about films and music during his childhood. When he started college, he dreamed of making films that could combine (结合) his love for storytelling and interest in music.
His biggest challenge came when he planned to make a film about a tennis player. Since no one would offer him money for a 2-hour film, Meng and his college friends tried to make a shorter one. They bought a second-hand camera and used old things instead of expensive equipment (设备). They even made a shelf on their own to support the camera.
Meng and his friends worked hard, rain or shine. When filming the tennis player, they ran after him in the summer sun. If it rained and they couldn’t film outside, they hung bed sheets (床单) on the walls in an empty room to set up a simple studio (摄影棚). This 12-minute film got much attention. The teachers and students in their college liked the music they created for it.
After that, Meng had another idea: to make a musical film. But musicals weren’t popular in college, and many said it wouldn’t work. Instead of listening to the doubts, Meng and his team spent weeks writing new songs and making a test video. To film the moving scenes, they fixed a smartphone on a skateboard and pushed it. The actors’ hair was blowing in the wind while they were dancing and singing. The loud voice and laughter of the team filled the air.
Their musical film was well received and won several awards at a film festival. As Meng said, “Making films isn’t about having the best equipment or famous actors. It’s about finding new ways to tell your story. Our team is planning to make a special documentary about environment. And I can’t wait to write music for it.”
1.How would Meng combine his hobbies according to paragraph 1?
A.By creating music. B.By starting a team.
C.By going to college. D.By producing films.
2.What was the team’s biggest challenge?
A.Few partners. B.People’s doubts.
C.The money problem. D.Long working time.
3.Why did Meng’s team set up a simple studio?
A.To work on rainy days. B.To get much attention.
C.To follow the tennis player. D.To film a moving scene.
4.What can be learned from the last sentence of paragraph 4?
A.The actors were popular. B.The team enjoyed the process.
C.Meng wanted to make another film. D.The students had good equipment.
5.What would be the best title for the passage?

The silence of the pond (池塘) was broken by the first cry: “Found something!” A swimmer ducked (扎入) into the water with a lifeline connected to a boat. Soon, she appeared, holding a bright blue glass bottle. It was passed to another, then into the boat.
On a fine Sunday morning in May, a team of 10 women over 65 years old, known as the Old Women Against Underwater Rubbish (OWAUR), looked for rubbish across Nova Pond in Scotia.
When the team returned, they joked about the trip. “We didn’t even know what it was,” one swimmer said with a laugh, showing an electronic lighter they had found. “We had to ask a young person.”
Part protection organization, part social club, OWAUR only accepted old women as its members. To improve the conditions of the ponds, the group made it its mission to take rubbish away from them. The idea of this group was from a moment of Sandy, a retired (退休的) reporter. As a lifelong nature lover, she liked swimming in ponds. However, the world of the pond, which was a little polluted, made her anxious. Then she came up with a slogan (标语):
“OVER 65, IF YOU’RE HEALTHY ENOUGH, IS THE AGE OF ACTION.”
Soon many people joined her. They found a sense of wonder at the pond cleanup moments. And their team could do a lot more than people might think.
When many people thanked OWAUR for what they had done, some questioned why they called themselves “old women”. “You should call yourselves the Mermaids (美人鱼) Against Underwater Rubbish,” they said.

【热点话题练习】
All through grade school, I got extra help with schoolwork. If I got a D, I was very happy. If I got a C-minus (C-), I had achieved greatness. A’s and B’s were a kingdom I could never enter.
Once my teacher, Miss Mills, had given me a list of ten spelling words. My mother and I went over the list until I knew those words. I felt great. I thought, “Wow! This time, I’m going to pass.” The next day, I went into the classroom and began to write down the words. The first word was carpet. I wrote that one down: c-a-r-p-e-t. I was feeling pretty confident. Then came neighbor-I wrote down the letter n. Then rhythm-I knew there was an r. Suburban-I wrote s-u-b. My confidence failed me. I had gone from 100 percent to maybe a D-minus. Where did the words go?
Some people talk about information sliding off your brain. That was my life. I was an underachiever (未能充分发挥学习潜力者).
Now I know I have dyslexia (诵读困难症). A person with dyslexia might see the as teh, and bird as brid. My brain learns differently. A learning disability can really change the way you feel about yourself. Now I know that even if I learn differently, I can still be filled with greatness.
Today when I visit schools as an actor, director, and co-author of children’s books, I tell children that everyone has something special inside. It’s our job to find out what that is and get it out, and give it to the world as a gift.
1.What’s the writer’s problem in grade school?
A.He had trouble spelling. B.He often got C-minuses.
C.He was absent-minded. D.He had a physical disability.
2.From Paragraph 2, we can infer that the writer ________.
A.wrote down 20% words correctly B.knew he had dyslexia then
C.felt upset about himself at last D.studied hard and passed the test
3.The underlined phrase “sliding off” in Paragraph 3 probably means ________.
A.coming into B.going through
C.moving around D.disappearing from
4.After the writer knew he had dyslexia, he ________.
A.felt very excited B.had more difficulties in study
C.was filled with sadness D.changed his view of himself
5.What would be the best title for the passage?
A.A Change for Sure B.A Great Underachiever
C.A Gift from the World D.A Special Spelling Bee
【答案】1.A 2.C 3.D 4.D 5.B

Fifteen-year-old Ethan volunteered at Riverside Nursing Home last winter, worrying about the uncomfortable silences he imagined. His task was simple: stay with the residents (居住者). But he had no idea how to connect with people much older than him until he discovered a box of old-fashioned toys in the activity room
Ms. Clara, an 82-year-old woman who rarely left her chair, caught his eye as he went through the box. “Those are marbles,” she said softly, pointing to the colorful glass balls in his hand. “I used to play with my brother every weekend in our backyard.” Ethan’s face lit up; his grandpa had taught him the same game the summer before. He sat down beside her and held out the marbles. “Want to tell me how you played it back then?”
To his surprise, Ms. Clara’s eyes lit up as she talked about her childhood—digging small holes in the dirt, taking turns to shoot the marbles with her thumb, and cheering when she won a round. Ethan joined in, missing his target at first but smiling as she gently showed him how to aim better. Soon, other residents gathered: Mr. Torres taught them to play a stick-picking game (挑棍子游戏), while Mrs. Lin showed everyone how to fold paper airplanes that flew far across the room.
The nursing home’s quiet afternoons turned into lively game time. Ethan learned that the old games weren’t just fun-they were keys to the residents’ memories. Ms. Clara started smiling more, even joining group chats after their games. On his last day, she pressed a handwritten note into his hand: “You didn’t just play with me—you brought back pieces of my life I thought were gone.”
Ethan left with a new understanding: warmth isn’t about fancy gestures. It’s about sitting down, listening, and sharing the small joys that cross generations. Those simple, forgotten games had built a bridge between him and the residents—one that proved kindness and connection are timeless.

Most runners choose their routes (路线) based on distance or surface. Some pick smooth roads for steady speed, while others choose hills for a challenging workout. But for Lenny Maughan, running is more than fitness — it is also a way to make art.
Maughan, who calls himself a “human Etch A Sketch”, creates GPS drawings by running through the streets of San Francisco. He got the idea from apps that runners use to record their routes. “When I was a kid, I was known for drawing funny pictures of people. I had a real talent for it,” he said. “I forgot about it until a little over 10 years ago.”
Maughan begins by carefully mapping his design on a paper map of San Francisco. To find the route that works, he often needs to map out several different routes. His goal is to create clear images (画像). Once the route is planned, Maughan runs his “masterpiece”, using a GPS app called Strava to track (追踪) his movement. However, Strava only shows the full image after the run is complete. That means Maughan has to follow his planned route very carefully. One wrong turn can badly influence the artwork. “You can’t see the drawing while you run,” Maughan explained. “So when you finish and finally see it come together, it’s a wonderful feeling.”
Over the past ten years, the San Francisco runner has created more than 50 images, from a simple heart to a lively pig. In February 2025, he spent 10 hours running 40 miles to create a snake in honor of the Lunar New Year. But his most famous creation is a line painting of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, completed in 2019. That image covered almost 29 miles and involved a lot of climbing.
“I like to say my legs are my paintbrush and San Francisco is my canvas,” said Maughan. “I love running and I love art. This is a nice way to combine (结合) them both.”
1.The author introduces the main character by ________.
A.comparing the facts B.raising an interest

My family and I went on a week-long trip when our daughter Sally was twelve years old. We had to change planes in Florida. As we waited in line for the security check (安全检查), Sally pulled out her expensive camera that she had just gotten for her birthday and took a few pictures.
One of the security guards suddenly raised his voice, “What do you think you’re doing?”
We all looked at him in shock. We then realized that he was staring at Sally.
“Taking some pictures,” my husband explained. “Is there a problem, sir?”
“Um, yes. Didn’t you see those signs?” the security guard replied as he pointed at the “NO PHOTOGRAPHY” signs. They were big, and I didn’t know how we had missed them.
“I’m sorry,” I said. “We didn’t see the signs.”
“________,” said the man. He then took Sally’s camera out of her hands and walked away.
Sally started to cry. “Don’t take my camera Mum, what should we do?”
We went after the security guard and found him behind his desk.
“I don’t know what you expect to happen,” he said. “You’re not getting this back.”

“Please, she’s just a kid,” said my husband.

“T… Twelve,” Sally answered.
“Fine. You can have this back, but never do that again,” the security guard said.
“I won’t. Thank you,” Sally answered as she carefully held the camera in her hands.
Seeing my kid crying really made me angry. “He’s just doing his job. Let’s just be glad he gave the camera back.” said my husband.

On my 56th birthday, my daughter Beth gave me two beautiful wooden butterflies. I hung them on the wall so that I could admire them all day. ★ .
My mum passed away when I was 25, and Beth was just a baby. She never got to meet her grandma, which made it hard for me to keep my mum’s memory alive for Beth. One day when Beth was 7, we were playing outside, and she suddenly said how much she missed her grandma.
I told her that her grandma loved her very much and that she was watching over her from heaven (天堂). I even said that maybe she was taking a ride on the back of a butterfly to get a closer look. At that moment, a butterfly just showed up out of nowhere, flew around Beth’s face, and then flew away. We both laughed happily.
Since then, it seems like butterflies follow us wherever we go. Whenever we are outside, they come down, circle around us, take a good look and fly away. In our daily lives, we often follow the same routines (日常作息): getting up, going to school or work, eating, and going to bed. Sounds familiar? But what if something unusual or unexpected happens? That’s what I experienced one evening in April 2024 on my way home from work.
As I was riding my bike home in the evening, I saw a big dirty dog with orange and white fur. It looked sad and lost, simply sitting in the middle of the road by a pedestrian crossing (人行横道). It seemed unsure of what to do as it lay down and stared at the passing traffic. Nobody seemed to mind the dog either, only passing him by at a distance.
At first, I also crossed over to the other side, hoping that somebody else would care for the dog. But, realizing that the dog might suddenly get up and walk into traffic, I decided I must do something to help the dog.
When the light changed, I saw my opportunity. I used my bike to guide the dog to a street corner, blocking the way to keep it safe from passing cars. Slowly but surely, I was able to encourage the dog to keep walking until finally, we both made it to the sidewalk. I messaged a dog shelter (收容所) group to let them know about the dog’s whereabouts. Yet, by the time I turned to it again, the dog was gone.
Sometimes we don’t know what we will find or see in our daily lives. Still, what matters is how we react to them. Despite (尽管) how shy I normally am in these situations, I am glad I found the courage to help a dog in need, even if just for a moment.

A.To stop cars getting too close. B.To warn passers-by not to get close.
C.To hold the dog for the light change. D.To prevent the dog from walking away.

A.turn B.chance C.courage D.ability

Dad recently read me a speech, hoping to satisfy my endless search for answers—answers to everything. Ever since I was very young, I’ve asked countless times “What should I do?”, trying to avoid making mistakes. Maybe I feared to take my first baby step on my own, I think.
During my middle school years, I changed. It was when I decided to try for the lead in Beauty and the Beast without asking Dad for advice. Never mind that I would have to memorize lines and movements, and I would take the chance that I might fail.
On the day of audition (试镜) I kept telling myself, “If you don’t think you can do it the right way, just don’t go.” My heart was pounding, my hands were shaking so badly that I wasn’t certain whether people would hear me.
But something happened. When I opened my mouth, I found the sound was loud, powerful and sweet! And I even reached the high notes that I’d never reached! It was fantastic. ________. But I didn’t. 【导语】本文介绍了作者从依赖他人(尤其是父亲)寻求答案和指导,到逐渐学会独立面对挑战、抓住机会并自我成长的心路历程。
1.细节理解题。根据“Ever since I was very young, I’ve asked countless times ‘What should I do?’, trying to avoid making mistakes.”可知,作者小时候因为害怕犯错而总是寻求父亲的答案。故选B。
2.推理判断题。根据“When I opened my mouth, I found the sound was loud, powerful and sweet! And I even reached the high notes that I’d never reached! It was fantastic.”可知,上文描述了试镜时作者出乎意料地发挥出色。下文以“But I didn’t.”
根据“Life is learning to deal with Plan B”可知,父亲说生活就是学会应对B计划,其含义是生活并不总是按最初的完美计划(Plan A)进行,要学会面对失败和意外。
根据“When I opened my mouth, I found the sound was loud, powerful and sweet! And I even reached the high notes that I’d never reached! It was fantastic.”
故选A。

“I don’t know what you expect to happen,” he said. “You’re not getting this back.”
“Please, sir,” I said. “She didn’t mean any harm.”

“I know, but I wonder what he’ll tell his wife when he gets home today. ‘How’s your day, dear?’ ‘Good. I got to make a twelve-year-old cry!’”

What memories do you have of your grandparents? How do you keep the memories of your loved ones?

That audition wasn’t the end of the trap that kept me from trying, but it was definitely an important part of the process of growing.
That day, I realized that if I want to live my life to the fullest, I have to push myself. Because my parents, friends, and teachers don’t always have the answer to “What should I do?”.
Now, I do take these chances, with baby steps, every day, like voicing my opinions in class discussions, riding my horse over a three-foot jump...
