In December 2019, a volcano on White Island in New Zealand erupted. Unfortunately, Stephanie Browitt was in the eruption. It burnt about 70% of her body.
After the disaster, she had to spend months in hospital and wear a mask to protect her healing skin. She felt her life was hopeless and wanted to give up. By chance, she shared her story on social media. People from all over the world encouraged her. After two and a half years, she took off her mask and faced the world.
Stephanie’s story shows that when disaster strikes, humanity rises. We should always look forward.
