I hurried out of my bedroom in my pajamas (睡衣) and found a big mess. Magazines were all over the floor in the living room, and there was flour (面粉) everywhere in the kitchen.
Dad was standing there, looking surprised and angry. “Did you do this, Daniel?” he asked. I shook my head, trying to explain that everything was fine last night. Dad sighed (叹气) and started to clean up while I got ready for school.
As I was putting on my shoes, I noticed lines of floury prints leading to the back door. “Dad, look!” I pointed. We followed the prints but couldn’t find anyone or anything that seemed to make the mess. Then I went to dress for school, and Dad continued cleaning.
Just before I left home, I heard a strange noise from the laundry room (洗衣房). I opened the door and found Oatmeal, our pet cat, covered in flour and playing with a small ball. “Dad, come quick!” I shouted.
Dad came running and saw Oatmeal with flour all over his body. “So it was you, Oatmeal.” Dad said, laughing. “You made the mess!”
We both laughed at how funny Oatmeal looked. “Sorry, I blamed you, Daniel,” Dad said, giving me a hug. “It doesn’t matter, Dad,” I said with a smile. Then we cleaned Oatmeal up and finished tidying the kitchen together.

Imagine you are out having fun, but then, oops! You step in dog poop (粪便). Not a good experience, right? Well, people in Liverpool, England, also had such trouble.
Because of too much dog poop around the city, Liverpool City Council has introduced a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) to parts of the city and nearby public spaces. Now, dog owners in Liverpool will face a fine (罚款) if they don’t follow the rules of the PSPO.
Under the new rules, about 70 playgrounds and parks have become off-limits (禁止入内) to dogs. Dog owners have to keep their dogs on leads (牵狗用的绳子) in many places. What’s more, dog owners have to clean up after their dogs. If they break any of the rules, they could get a £100 fine right away. However, the rules don’t cover service dogs.
Almost three-quarters of the people in Liverpool welcome these rules. The government hopes these rules will keep public areas clean and encourage dog owners to pick up their pets’ poop in time. “We know that green spaces are very important to people in our city. We hope these rules will make a difference to our parks,” said Liverpool City Council.
Now, clear signs have been put up to tell people where the rules are in place. Anyone who breaks the rules has to pay the price. So the best thing people can do is always take good care of their pets!

Imagine a place where ancient cities were built one on top of the other! That’s what archaeologists (考古学家) found in Kaifeng, Henan Province.
Over the past years, archaeologists have been digging deep underground and discovering a great scene—six different ancient cities, all piled up (堆积) one by one! Different rulers built these cities over the past 2,200 years. The first one, Daliang, was started by the King of Wei in 364 BC. After that, many more rulers took over and built their new cities on top of the old ones.
The archaeologists think this happened because the Yellow River flooded (淹没) the area many times over the centuries. When the water went down, people would build a new city right on top of the old one that got buried.
The head of the archaeology team, Mr. Qiu, said that this “city upon city” discovery is like solving a mystery that people in Kaifeng have been asking about for ages. 4.他们总是想知道有多少城市被埋藏在他们的脚下。And now they finally know—six!
It’s a fun piece of history, hidden underground for centuries. Archaeologists are still learning more about these ancient cities. 5.I think they might discover some other secrets!

【答案】
例文
Dear Mr. Wang,
I am Tom, a student of our school. I am writing to you to talk about the rules in our school.
I agree with the strict rules about being polite to teachers and keeping the classroom clean. These rules help create a good learning environment. However, I think some rules should be improved. For example, students should be allowed to choose their own after-school activities instead of being forced to join fixed ones. This can help us develop different interests and make our school life more colorful. Also, we should be given more chances to share our ideas about rule-making. I hope my suggestions can be considered.
Yours,
Tom

“Daniel! What have you done?” Dad shouted.

Under the new rules, about 70 playgrounds and parks have become off-limits (禁止入内的) to dogs.

Over the past years archaeologists have been digging deep underground and discovering a great scene—six different ancient cities, all piled up (堆积) one by one!
