【原文】Morning, everyone, I’d like to share with you about my understanding of happiness and health. Guys, just imagine: What would happen if we could study people from the time that they were young all the way into old age to see what really keeps them happy and healthy?
We did that. The Harvard Study of Adult Development may be the longest study of adult life that’s ever been done. For 75 years, we’ve studied the lives of 724 men since 1938, year after year, asking about their work, their home lives and their health. The clearest message that we get from this 75-year study is this: Good relationships keep us happier and healthier. Social connections are really good for us. It turns out that people who are more socially connected to family, to friends, and to community, are happier, they’re physically healthier, and they live longer than people who are less well connected.
And the experience of loneliness turns out to be harmful. People who are more separated than they want to be from others find that they are less happy. Their health falls earlier in midlife.

Nowadays, people lay everything to heredity (遗传); that is, we receive our special talents from our ancestors. I shall tell you my story to show that I did not inherit my passion for insects from any of them.
My mother’s parents did not care in the least about insects. The only attention my grandfather paid to an insect was to crush it under his foot. My illiterate (不识字的) grandmother would throw away a caterpillar in fright. My own parents did not inspire this love. My mother was illiterate; my father, slightly educated, was too busy for encouragement.
Yet I began to observe as a baby. One day, standing on the grassland, I was fascinated by the sun. A question possessed me: did I sense the sunlight with my mouth or my eyes? I opened my mouth and closed my eyes: glory disappeared. I opened my eyes and shut my mouth: glory returned. I saw with my eyes! Oh, what a discovery! At home, my grandmother smiled; the others laughed.
At nightfall, a faint jingle from the bushes attracted me. Who is making that noise? They spoke of a wolf, but I had to look. After a stubborn watch, I caught the singer — a grasshopper (蚂蚱)! I now knew, from personal observation, that the grasshopper sings. I did not tell them my discovery, for fear of the same laughter.
Later, I went to school. The room served every purpose; school, kitchen, bedroom, even a chicken house and a piggery. Our studies were constantly disturbed by little pigs rubbing (蹭) against our legs or by the hen and her chicks, or by the smells of cooking. But my passion for animals and plants progressed of itself, fueled by the country school’s continuous offerings — from studying the pigeon on my book to collecting snails, catching frogs, and admiring beetles in the fields.
Thus, in this chaos, the future observer taught himself.

25.How did the author’s family react to his discovery about the sunlight?
A.They rejected it. B.They questioned it.
C.They brushed it aside. D.They approved of it.
26.What does the description of the school mainly suggest?
A.The lively classes attracted animals. B.The students lacked interest in learning.
C.The animals became a threat to students. D.The environment presented barriers to learning.
27.What was the author like as a boy?
A.Inquiring. B.Encouraging. C.Troublesome. D.Ambitious.
【答案】24.B 25.C 26.D 27.A
【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。文章主要讲述了作者对昆虫的热爱并非遗传于家人,而是源于幼时自发的观察与探索,即便环境简陋也未消减这份热情。
24.推理判断题。根据第一段中的“I shall tell you my story to show that I did not inherit my passion for insects from any of them. (我将给你们讲讲我的故事,以此说明我对昆虫的热爱并非遗传自我的任何一位家人)”可推知,作者讲述家庭故事是为了表明自己对昆虫的热爱是与生俱来的,而非受家人影响。故选B项。
25.推理判断题。根据第三段中的“At home, my grandmother smiled; the others laughed. (回到家,祖母只是笑了笑,其他人则哈哈大笑起来)”可知,家人对作者关于阳光的发现并未当真,只是一笑置之,没有重视。由此推知,brushed it aside“置之不理”符合这一态度。故选C项。
26.推理判断题。根据第五段中的“The room served every purpose; school, kitchen, bedroom, even a chicken house and a piggery. Our studies were constantly disturbed by little pigs rubbing (蹭) against our legs or by the hen and her chicks, or by the smells of cooking. (这间屋子可谓是一物多用,既是教室、厨房、卧室,甚至还兼作鸡舍和猪圈。我们的学习总是被蹭腿的小猪、母鸡和它的雏鸡,或是做饭的气味所干扰)”可推知,对学校的描述主要表明学习环境十分简陋,存在诸多干扰学习的因素。故选D项。
27.推理判断题。根据第三段中的“A question possessed me: did I sense the sunlight with my mouth or my eyes? I opened my mouth and closed my eyes: glory disappeared. I opened my eyes and shut my mouth: glory returned. (我被一个问题困扰:我是用嘴巴还是用眼睛感知阳光的?我张开嘴巴闭上双眼,光芒消失了;我睁开眼睛闭上嘴巴,光芒又回来了)”以及第四段中的“At nightfall, a faint jingle from the bushes attracted me. Who is making that noise? They spoke of a wolf, but I had to look. (黄昏时分,灌木丛里传来微弱的叮当声,吸引了我。是谁在发出这样的声音?大人们都说那是狼叫,但我还是要去看一看)”可知,作者小时候充满好奇心,喜欢探索和追问。由此推知,inquiring“好奇的、爱探究的”符合其性格特点。故选A项。

Autumn leaves may be beautiful on trees, though they become annoying once they cover the ground. Although regular raking (耙) keeps your yard clean, it often upsets you when most leaves come from a neighbor’s tree.
This presents a common problem: what should you do when your neighbor’s tree litters your yard? Some people have gathered these leaves and put the pile back onto the neighbor’s yard, calling it a return to the “rightful owner.” A video of such an act caused heated debate on TikTok.
Supporters believe it is the tree’s owner who should take responsibility for the leaves. “He has NO trees. He’s just returning what belongs to his neighbor.”
However, many people view the action as downright rude. “Welcome to Earth, where trees are all around the neighborhood,” one comment read. Another person added, “If he went through the trouble of gathering them, then dumping (倾倒) over the fence is completely inconsiderate and unacceptable.”
Manners expert Jodi RR Smith points out that having neighbors means sharing both the good and bad sides of nearby trees.” Leaves that fall on your land are your duty to handle, just as you can enjoy the tree’s shade in summer, “ she noted, “the same idea applies to fruit from branches over your yard.”
Instead, she suggests having a friendly talk with the neighbor. They may not even be aware of the issue and once they find the problem, they might offer to help with cleanup costs. Or, if you’ re OK with some temporary yard mess, you don’t even need to rake your leaves in the first place. The United States Department of Agriculture says that leaves on the ground can create an ideal habitat for animals like lizards, insects, and frogs.
Either way, it is usually best to keep your yard tidy and clean up the leaves — no matter where from.
28.What might be the reason for some people to put the leaves back to their neighbors?
A.To keep their own yard clean.
B.To help the neighbor rake the litters.
C.To make some eye-catching TikTok videos.
D.To remind the tree’s owner to be responsible.
29.What does the underline word “downright” in paragraph 4 mean?
A.Hardly. B.Slightly. C.Properly. D.Totally.
30.What does Jodi RR Smith recommend?
A.Build a fence wall.
B.Take fruit from the tree.
C.Speak to the neighbor.
D.Dump the leaves back.
31.What can be a suitable title for the text?
A.Are You Responsible for Your Neighbor’ s Leaves?
B.Handling Neighbor Issues with Kindness
C.Should You Make a Video of Your Leaf Problem?
D.Letting Leaves Lie: An Eco-Friendly Choice
【答案】28.D 29.D 30.C 31.A
【导语】这是一篇议论文。文章主要讨论了邻居的树落叶到自家院子里的问题,以及人们对此的不同看法和应对方式。
28.细节理解题。根据第三段“Supporters believe it is the tree’s owner who should take responsibility for the leaves.(支持者认为,树的主人应该对树叶负责。)”可知,有些人把树叶还给邻居是为了提醒树的主人要负责任。故选D。
29.词句猜测题。根据下文““Welcome to Earth, where trees are all around the neighborhood,” one comment read. Another person added, “If he went through the trouble of gathering them, then dumping (倾倒) over the fence is completely inconsiderate and unacceptable.”(一条评论写道:“欢迎来到地球,这社区里到处都是树。”另一个人补充道:“既然他都费力气把落叶收集起来了,那再把它们倒过栅栏,就是完全不顾及他人,而且令人无法接受。”)”可知,很多人认为这种行为完全粗鲁无礼。由此可知,downright意为“完全地”。故选D。
30.细节理解题。根据第六段“Instead, she suggests having a friendly talk with the neighbor.(相反,她建议与邻居友好交谈。)”可知,Jodi RR Smith建议与邻居友好交谈。故选C。
31.主旨大意题。通读全文,根据第二段“This presents a common problem: what should you do when your neighbor’s tree litters your yard.(这提出了一个常见的问题:当邻居的树把你的院子弄得乱七八糟时,你该怎么办?)”可知,文章主要讨论的是你是否要为邻居的树叶负责。A项“你对邻居的落叶负责吗?”适合用作标题,故选A。
D
Countless thousands of city dwellers in Britain and elsewhere have, in the past two years, become acutely aware of the green spaces in their midst. Indeed, many people only discovered them during lockdowns, when escaping to the great outdoors was a vital factor in maintaining physical and mental wellbeing.
Many south Londoners who have found solace in nature owe thanks to campaigners who, over the past 40 years and more, have put pressure on local and national bodies to protect precious green space. Although it is hard to envisage today, until the end of the 18th century extensive oak woodlands stretched for some seven miles across what is now suburban south London. What remains of them is the nearest ancient woodland to central London.
Ancient woodland, as defined by the government agency Natural England, is land on which the tree cover has been in continuous existence since 1600; before that date, plantation was rare, so woods that existed in 1600 are considered to have developed naturally. According to the Woodland Trust, ancient woodland covers just 2.5 per cent of the land area of England and Wales.
The Ancient Woodland Inventory, set up by the Nature Conservancy Council in 1981 and maintained by Natural England, says some 7 per cent of ancient woodland that was present in 1930 has been grubbed up for farming or other uses, and 38 per cent has been replaced with plantations, often of single-species conifers that offer little diversity of habitat.
The reasons the old North Wood survived for so long when surrounding areas were converted to farmland was that the steep terrain was unsuitable for arable or pasture, and because it lay on the sparsely populated margins of several parishes. It was also a valuable economic resource: for at least a millennium, the wood was intensely cultivated to provide timber, for furniture, tools and shipbuilding and charcoal for London’s blacksmiths, bakeries and brick and tilekilns.
32.Why did campaigners put pressure on local and national bodies according to the second paragraph?
A.To demand more gyms for public exercise.
B.To protect existing green spaces from destruction.
C.To request open spaces for planting new vegetation.
D.To promote the development of suburban housing.
33.What does the underlined phrase “grubbed up” in Paragraph 4 most likely mean?
A.Use up natural resources.
B.Dig out and remove completely.
C.Take up quickly for development.
D.Preserve carefully for the future.
34.What can be inferred from the passage?
A.British people have long been aware of the importance of green space protection.
B.The ancient woodland nearest to central London is entirely made up of conifers.
C.The replacement of ancient woodland with single-species plantations has harmed habitat diversity.
D.Only 7% of ancient woodland present in 1930 remains today.
35.Why did the old North Wood survive for so long according to the passage?
A.Its steep land was unsuitable for farming or animal grazing.
B.It was located in a densely populated and well-protected area.
C.The government had listed it as a protected area very early.
D.Local residents jointly prevented any external development.
【答案】32.B 33.B 34.C 35.A
【导语】本文是一篇说明文。主要介绍伦敦南部古林地的现状、定义及北古林幸存原因,凸显古林地保护的重要性。
32.细节理解题。根据第二段中的“Many south Londoners who have found solace in nature owe thanks to campaigners who, over the past 40 years and more, have put pressure on local and national bodies to protect precious green space.(许多在大自然中寻求慰藉的伦敦南部居民要感谢活动家们,他们在过去40多年里一直向地方和国家机构施压,要求保护珍贵的绿地)”可知,活动家向地方和国家机构施压是为了保护现有的绿地不被破坏。故选B项。
33.词句猜测题。根据第四段“The Ancient Woodland Inventory, set up by the Nature Conservancy Council in 1981 and maintained by Natural England, says some 7 per cent of ancient woodland that was present in 1930 has been grubbed up for farming or other uses, and 38 per cent has been replaced with plantations, often of single-species conifers that offer little diversity of habitat.(这份由自然保护委员会于 1981 年设立、并由英格兰自然署负责维护的《古林地清单》显示,1930 年存在的古林地中,约有 7% 已被grubbed up用于农业或其他用途,38% 则被人工林取代——这些人工林通常为单一物种的针叶林,几乎无法提供多样化的栖息地)”可知,此处与“被替换为种植园”并列,应是古林地被破坏的一种情况,结合“用于农业或其他用途”可猜测,grubbed up意为“彻底挖掘移除”,与Dig out and remove completely意思相近。故选B项。
34.推理判断题。根据第四段“The Ancient Woodland Inventory, set up by the Nature Conservancy Council in 1981 and maintained by Natural England, says some 7 per cent of ancient woodland that was present in 1930 has been grubbed up for farming or other uses, and 38 per cent has been replaced with plantations, often of single-species conifers that offer little diversity of habitat.(这份由自然保护委员会于 1981 年设立、并由英格兰自然署负责维护的《古林地清单》显示,1930 年存在的古林地中,约有 7% 已被彻底清理用于农业或其他用途,38% 则被人工林取代——这些人工林通常为单一物种的针叶林,几乎无法提供多样化的栖息地)””可推断,用单一物种种植园替代古林地损害了栖息地的多样性。故选C项。
35.细节理解题。根据第五段中的“The reasons the old North Wood survived for so long when surrounding areas were converted to farmland was that the steep terrain was unsuitable for arable or pasture, and because it lay on the sparsely populated margins of several parishes.(在周边地区都被改造成农田的情况下,这片古老的北木森林之所以能存续如此之久,原因在于其地势陡峭,不适合耕种或放牧,同时也因为它地处多个教区人口稀少的边缘地带)”可知,北古林能长期幸存是因为其陡峭的土地不适合耕种或放牧。故选A项。
第二节(共5小题;每小题2. 5分, 满分12. 5分)
阅读下面短文, 从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Body language refers to the nonverbal signals that people use to communicate. 36 They can impact how people judge you in the workplace. Becoming aware of the body language you use when communicating can help you ensure your message is being delivered effectively. Here are some steps you can take to improve your body language.
Make eye contact
It’s important to make eye contact with the person you’re speaking to. 37 A simple strategy to ensure you’re maintaining the right amount of eye contact is to look into the person’s eyes long enough to take note of their eye color before looking away. This strategy ensures you make proper eye contact for a length of time that’s natural and comfortable to both parties.
Relax your shoulders
One step you can take to improve your body language is to relax your shoulders, allowing them to drop to a comfortable height. Shoulders that are too high can make you look nervous. 38 Be aware of where they are currently sitting and allow them to drop to a natural position.
Nod from time to time
Nodding is a good way to show the person you’re speaking with that you’re listening and engaged in what they’re saying. 39 Also, it makes them know that you agree with or are interested in the message they’re sharing, which can help to increase their confidence.
Smile from the bottom of your heart
Smile when you’re first introduced to someone and throughout the conversation, when appropriate. Be aware of your facial expressions throughout the course of the conversation, as an expressionless face can often appear as an angry expression. 40
A.A sincere smile can brighten up the darkest day.
B.However, it’s important to avoid making too much.
C.Body language can be confusing in different cultures.
D.They include things like gestures, tone of voice, and eye contact.
E.It’s a good way to encourage them to continue what they’re saying.

第二节(共10小题;每小题1.5分 ,满分15分)
阅读下面短文,在空白处填入1个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。
Every Lunar New Year, China introduces a zodiac(生肖) sign from a cycle of 12 lucky animals. This year, it’s the Year of the Dragon, or more 56 (accurate), ”the Year of the Loong”. Then what’s the difference?
The Western 57 (describe) of dragons as “fire-breathing winged creatures” was inspired by literature such as Beowulf - the Old English epic about a Scandinavian hero 58 contribution was killing monsters, including a dragon. Greek fairy tales also presented dragons 59 violent sea monsters or guards of valuable 60 (possession). By contrast, “loong”, a word 61 (create) in the 19th century, reminds people of strength and fortune, and should 62 (distinguish) from its Western cousin. In Shiji, 63 2, 000-year-old Chinese history book, the emperor’s mother dreamed of a dragon lying on her body, 64 (predict) the birth of a future emperor. Exactly for this reason, Chinese people proudly claim they are “descendants of the Loong” .
Therefore, some culture experts have been calling for a switch to ”loong” 65 (tell) the Chinese dragon from the frightening monsters of Western tales. The call is also in line with the push for cultural confidence to choose the preferred translation of the Mandarin word for a creature long respected in Chinese culture.

7.考查被动语态。句意同上。 根据句意此处用被动,把东方与四方对龙的认识区分开来,情态动词should后接be done。故填be distinguished。

It was a rainy Saturday morning. Lily was on her way to the library to return some books. She had promised her friend Lucy to meet at the library at 10:00 AM to study for the upcoming exam.
When Lily got to the bus stop, she realized she had forgotten her umbrella. The rain was pouring down, and there was no shelter at the bus stop. She looked around, hoping to find a store where she could buy an umbrella, but there was nothing nearby. Just as she was about to give up and run to the library in the rain, a young woman walked up to her.
“Excuse me, do you need an umbrella?” the woman asked with a smile. Lily nodded shyly. “I have an extra one. You can use it,” the woman said, handing her a pink umbrella. Lily thanked her repeatedly. “What’s your name? I want to return it to you,” Lily said. “My name is Emma. You can return it to the café on Main Street. I work there,” the woman replied.
Lily took the umbrella and got on the bus. When she arrived at the library, she saw Lucy waiting for her. They studied together until noon. After that, Lily decided to return the umbrella to Emma. However, when she got to the café on Main Street, she found that it was closed. She asked a nearby shop owner, who told her that Emma had quit her job and moved to another city.

They continued to study together at the library, and the umbrella became a symbol of warmth between them.
Paragraph 2:
A month later, Lily received a surprise email. It was from Emma! She had moved to another city but heard about Lily’s kind act from a former café customer. Lily was overjoyed to connect with Emma again. She realized that a small gift like an umbrella could build a bridge between strangers, even across distances.

24.What does the author intend to convey by telling his family story?
A.The hardship of rural life. B.His natural passion for insects.
C.His early education background. D.The influence of his family on him.

F.Similarly, ones that are too low can give the impression that you’re sad.
G.Turning up the corners of your mouth slightly can give you a calm and pleasant look.

Lily felt disappointed. She really wanted to thank Emma properly. She looked at the pink umbrella and had an idea.

Paragraph 1:
Lily took the pink umbrella and went back to the library. She told her friend Lucy about Emma and the kind act of lending her the umbrella. They decided to pass on the kindness. Every time it rained, they would take the pink umbrella to the library and lend it to people who forgot theirs. They also left a note with the old café’s address, hoping someone might know Emma. They continued to study together at the library, and the umbrella became a symbol of warmth between them.
Paragraph 2:
A month later, Lily received a surprise email. It was from Emma! She had moved to another city but heard about Lily’s kind act from a former café customer. Emma thanked Lily for passing on the kindness and said she was proud of her. She also invited Lily and her friend Lucy to visit her if they had the chance. Lily was overjoyed to connect with Emma again. She realized that a small gift like an umbrella could build a bridge between strangers, even across distances.

24.What does the author intend to convey by telling his family story?
A.The hardship of rural life. B.His natural passion for insects.
C.His early education background. D.The influence of his family on him.

F.Similarly, ones that are too low can give the impression that you’re sad.
G.Turning up the corners of your mouth slightly can give you a calm and pleasant look.
