阅读下列短文,从每小题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
A
When I was a young girl in 8th grade, my classmates told me how they met new friends and even chatted with celebrities on the Internet. I was fascinated and wanted to experience these exciting things. I opened an online account; this was the beginning of my journey through the virtual world. As time went by, I got used to checking social media more frequently. I lost myself in social media, chatting with friends and sharing my life with them. Social media was a source of happiness and more so, it brought a sense of satisfaction, pain, and frustration.
My newfound interest started influencing my schoolwork. Instead of checking my school notes in time as usual, I checked social media more often to see what was happening with my friends’ lives. But I later discovered that by becoming more aware of other people’s lives, I became less in tune with myself. I was more focused on the illusions social media presented than the realities of my life. Thus, I started to sense depression, jealousy and hatred as a result of comparing my life with others. And I became much like what the people in the virtual world expected of me.
Luckily, my phone went missing and my mother refused to get me a new one. I felt sad and lonely. However, her refusal led to something more meaningful to my life. Within a month, I became less concerned about other people’s lives and more focused on my lessons. And I had more time to study and sleep.
Away from social media also made me realize that social media had been influencing my study habits and my private life. For example, I had no privacy. Anyone who was allowed to see my social media profiles could easily find out where I lived. Moreover, I sometimes spent 15 hours looking through social media without doing anything meaningful.
After examining my use of social media, I decided not to completely quit social media, but to change the way I use them. I unfollowed sites that were not positive or educational to me. I only use social media to spread positive messages and connect with others. Social media is not bad in itself, but it becomes terrible when we are addicted to it.
36.Away from social media made the writer ________.
A.unfollow educational sites B.forget her account
C.focus more on her studies D.develop new hobbies
37.According to the passage, the writer might agree that social media ________.
A.destroys people’s life and should be quit B.challenges people’s self-control ability
C.plays an important role in people’s life D.helps to broaden people’s minds
38.What is the passage mainly about?
A.A personal experience with the virtual world.
B.Disadvantages of phones outweigh benefits.
C.A hard fight in the days without phones.
D.Ways to get away from social media.
B
Wherever we go and no matter how old we are, safety (安全) rules always guide us. Some people may think stopping at a stop sign or driving at the speed limit feels unnecessary (不必要), but these rules protect our lives and help us avoid accidents (事故).
Children start to understand rules at a young age. At school, teachers explain many ways to stay safe. For example, teachers ask children to walk in the hallway. Running may cause a fall or a crash (碰撞) with another student. In the lunch room, they tell children to sit well while eating so that food doesn’t go the wrong way. On the playground, teachers teach children to use the equipment (设备) safely. A child shouldn’t slide (滑下) down backward or climb up the slide while another child is coming down, because these actions can lead to serious (严重的) accidents.

42.Which sentence best shows the writer’s purpose?
A.Students should learn safety rules after they grow up.

C.Safety rules help students stay safe in different school situations.
D.School rules are different for children and older students.

阅读下面短文,并用英语回答问题。
After a busy day at work, I got on the train to go home. I went to a quiet area in order to read. I sat down and took out my book.
Suddenly, a girl opposite me started playing loud music on her phone. What a shock! I almost jumped up in surprise.
A minute later, the man next to me took out several packets of food. It was like he was on a picnic. People have to eat, of course, but the food was so smelly! It was like sitting next to a mountain of blue cheese.
I covered my ears in order to block the noise coming from Rock Girl. I covered my nose so as to reduce the smell coming from Mr. Smelly Food.
Then a boy behind me started to kick my seat. My anger grew. My face turned as red as a tomato! I asked him to stop. However, his mother replied, “Come on, he’s just a kid.”
I turned around so as to see the other passengers’ faces. They also seemed unhappy, but no one did anything. Will they think me a fool if I do something? I looked at the signs on the wall. They read “Please be quiet”, “No smelly food” and “Please look after your children”. Everyone knows the rules, I thought. They aren’t just on the wall but also in our minds and hearts. And rules are there for us to follow!
Suddenly, I felt brave. I took a deep breath, stood up and cleared my throat...
