Book 2 Unit 4 Lesson 1 Avatars 一、教学内容: Module 2 Unit 4 Lesson 1 Avatars 二、教材分析:This article introduces the developing process from the emergence of virtual phenomenon to its wide application, and reveals the hidden personality characteristics behind people’s choice of virtual images, as well as the functions and significance of different virtual images. The first part explains the definition of virtual image, the second part tells the development course of virtual image; The third part discusses the relationship between people’s choice of virtual image and their own personality characteristics. The fourth part explains that the creation of virtual image gives people the space of imagination. The fifth part proposes that the use of virtual image produces some different sounds. 三、教学目标 1. To read for general understanding. 2. To read for specific information and understand words in context. 3. To develop critical thinking. 4. To voice opinions about avatars actively. 四、教学重点、难点: 1.To enable students to read for general and specific information. 1.To enable students to establish a proper view of avatars. 2.To voice their opinions actively in class. 五、教学过程: 教学活动 Activities 设计意图 Intentions Step 1 Lead-in The teacher shows a screenshot with different images in the class WeChat group and asks Ss to describe their images as well as its reasons. To introduce the topic Avatars Step 2 Pre - reading Prediction: Ss raise different questions concerning the topic “avatars”. To arouse Ss’interest  and get prepared for reading Step 3 While-reading Fast-reading: 1.Ss read the article and get the type of the passage. 2.Ss read the article quickly and match the main idea of each part. 3.Ss get the purpose of the passage. Careful-reading: Task 1: Ss find detailed information in different aspects about avatars and check the answers. 2.Ss read the text again, and answer more specific questions related to avatars and reveal the details about avatars. 1. To train Ss’ ability of fast reading and help them to develop their strategies of getting the main ideas. 2. To grasp some specific information to have a further understanding of the text. Step 4 Post-reading 1.Critical thinking:Ss think and answer the following questions: ①Do you agree with “the avatar you choose says a lot about your personality”? ②Can you give examples of the risks of using avatars.③How to prevent such risks? 2.Ss make a summary about the text. 3.Creative task. Ss Create an avatar for Wechat Group and introduce it.
