When you want to go somewhere, you can easily find your way by using a map app on your smartphone. Your smartphone “knows” where you are and can tell you where to go. This is possible with the help of satellite navigation (satnav)(卫星导航) systems. A satnav system uses groups of satellites to find out where people are. It sends information to a receiver, such as a smartphone. The more satellites a system has, the more accurate it is.
On June 23, the last satellite of China’s Beidou Navigation Satellite System was launched into space. Beidou, China’s own satnav system, was finally completed. It is one of four global navigation systems, along with US’ GPS, Russia’s GLONASS and the European Union’s Galileo.
On July 31, Beidou started providing full-scale (全面的) global services. More than 120 countries and regions are now using Beidou services.
Since 2000, China has launched 59 Beidou satellites. Beidou can be used in areas that include farming, public services and business. It has a positioning (定位) accuracy of under 10 meters. This summer, people along the Yangtze River used Beidou-based device to monitor floodwaters in real-time with an accuracy of just a few centimeters.
Beidou also has a unique messaging ability. It allows people to send text messages up to 1,200 Chinese characters in length when mobile phone services are interrupted (中断) by natural disasters.

People who get many of their meals from packages may have higher risks of heart disease, stroke and early death, two great studies suggest. The findings, published in the journal BMJ, are the latest to point the finger at “ultra-processed(超加工的)” foods.
In one study, researchers followed more than 100,000 French adults for about five years. They found that the more ultra-processed foods people ate, the higher chances of a first-time heart condition or stroke they would get. Those who ate more processed foods were 23% more likely to suffer from heart or blood diseases. Moreover, there might be other things to be harmful to people’s health, according to researchers Bernard Srour and Mathilde Touvier from the University of Paris. Other studies have suggested that additives(添加剂) have detrimental effects on our body, which might make us unhealthy to some extent.
The researchers said that their study couldn’t surely prove cause and effect. But together with the results of other researches on similar topics, they could get the following message; try to eat more wholefoods(天然食物) and least processed foods. “I would like to say: the longer the shelf life(保质期), the shorter your life,” said Andrew Freeman. Based on the overall body of research, the most heart-healthy diet is rich in wholefoods, particularly plant-based foods like fruit and vegetables, whole grains and nuts. To make that more affordable and convenient, Freeman pointed to healthy choices—such as fresh-frozen vegetables.
However, some researchers had different opinions. “It is the degree of processing that seems important. It is ultra-processing that is the problem,” said Mark Lawrence, a professor of public health nutrition at Deakin University in Australia. He added that convenient, least processed foods could fit into a healthy lifestyle. “Simple changes—from sugary drinks to water, or sweet treats to fresh fruit—are good starting points,” Lawrence said.
34.What can we infer from Paragraph 1?
A.People prefer to eat processed foods.
B.Ultra-processed foods are hard for people to get.
C.Ultra-processed foods are bad for people’s health.
D.People fail to realize the importance of good eating habits.
35.What does the underlined word “detrimental” in Paragraph 2 mean?
A.Positive. B.Magical.
C.Harmful. D.Noticeable.
36.What do Dr Andrew Freeman’s words in Paragraph 3 imply?
A.Fresh-frozen vegetables are costly.
B.Wholefoods are very popular now.
C.Some products fail to show the true shelf life.
D.We should choose foods with a short shelf life.
37.Which idea might Mark Lawrence agree with?
A.Not all processed foods are unhealthy.
B.Processed foods still have a wide market.
C.Not everyone can benefit from least processed foods.
D.Least processed foods are healthier than frozen vegetables.

Many of us expect geniuses to be perfect. We imagine them as people who never make m 46 . But that’s not true at all. Real geniuses don’t a 47 failure. Instead, they try ideas that might not work, and then they learn from what goes wrong.
What really makes geniuses special is how they work with others. They don’t keep their good ideas to themselves—they pass them on freely. That’s because they t 48 that when people work together, they’ll come up with better things. When they get into trouble, they either ask someone for help or suggest a new way to try things. None of the big, important discoveries in history—like the lightbulb or medicines that save lives—were made by one person alone. They all came from people s 49 ideas and believing in each other.
So, let’s change how we think about geniuses. A genius isn’t someone who never messes up. It’s someone who is b 50 enough to try again after failing. It’s someone who gives away ideas to help others, not just themselves. In the end, being a genius isn’t just about being smart—it’s about having the right heart, too.

26.What does a satnav system do?
A.It helps people plan trips.
B.It helps people navigate.

In my early childhood, I was often surprised when I saw my father making a small number of money with difficulty. Being a child, I was unable to understand him. When I was older, my father started doing a part-time job at home. He used to bring some work back and work till late night.
I can’t forget he played with me when I was 3—4 years old. He taught me how to read when I was at the age of 5. He took care of me all night when I was sick. Whenever I felt down, he would cheer me up. He also cared about my lessons and often helped me get ready for examinations. Later he sent me to New Delhi for the best education. Whenever I needed money, he never refused. He always managed money for my studies.
Two years ago, I got a job at a hospital in New Delhi. When I helped my first patient, I got a strong feeling of satisfaction. When I got my first salary(薪水) which was about ten times more than my pocket money, I spent it all on myself.
When I returned home one fine morning, I heard my father communicating with one neighbor. He was telling him my success in the jobvery proudly. He also told him that I had a higher salary than him at the end of his work. A dream, his son should become better than himself came true.
I was unable to move on my feet. Past 23 years flashed into my mind in a moment. I knew my father loved me very much. I could understand the meaning of my father’s aspirations(愿望). I could understand the decisions my father made in the past. The financial(经济)difficulty he was facing was decided by his goal—making his child more successful than himself.
If today I am successful, this is because of my father.
