China's Ministry of Education has rolled out a series of measures to stabilize and expand employment for college graduates, with a focus on creating opportunities in private enterprises and grassroots positions. In a collaborative effort with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the Ministry of Finance, education authorities have extended one-time employment subsidies - previously limited to businesses - to include social organizations. A combination of tax incentives, employment subsidies, job expansion grants and guaranteed loans are being deployed to encourage private and smaller businesses to hire recent graduates. Authorities are also working to create jobs in emerging industries and frontline sectors. An initiative to expand vacancies in State-owned enterprises is being implemented to address employment needs in key development areas.
To boost employment at the grassroots level, China has expanded programs to help more college graduates from the class of 2025 secure positions in rural and western regions.
Local governments are tailoring employment policies to their economic and industrial strengths. In Shanxi province, 26,000 new employment opportunities have been created, while the Inner Mongolia autonomous region has launched a community volunteer service program to recruit 5,000 individuals. Henan province is hiring 5,000 village-level coordinators to contribute to rural vitalization efforts, while Sichuan province has opened 40,000 jobs in sectors such as justice, social work and agriculture. Jiangxi province is providing monthly job subsidies to 5,000 graduates employed by small and medium-sized enterprises, the ministry said.
Education and labor departments are coordinating efforts to connect graduates with job opportunities, helping nearly 100,000 students from about 300 universities secure positions. Special attention is being given to graduates from low-income households and those with disabilities.
The education ministry has partnered with the Communist Youth League of China Central Committee to run a one-on-one mentorship program that pairs university staff with vulnerable graduates. As of June 27, nearly 10,000 graduates had received personalized support.
With financial backing from the Ministry of Finance, the education ministry is also expanding a program that provides training and job placement services. So far, 100,000 students from the class of 2025 have completed training, and 1,124 job fairs have been held under the program, offering more than 1.1 million positions. Several provinces are increasing funding and resources for the training program. Shanxi, for example, is building five provincial-level training centers and adding 6,400 training slots for vulnerable graduates.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has launched a campaign to help graduates from formerly impoverished households find jobs. In Hainan province, universities have created 475 public service positions for graduates involved in the campaign, each subsidized at 2,010 yuan ($280) per month.
As graduation season peaks, local authorities are urged to maintain close contact with graduates still seeking employment and to ensure a smooth handover of their information to labor departments for continued support.
Vocational training opportunities are also being expanded for those looking to enhance their skills and improve job readiness.

Passage 1
Across the rich world, well-educated people increasingly work longer than the less-skilled. Some 65% of American men aged 62-74 with a professional degree are in the workforce, compared with 32% of men with only a high-school certificate. This gap is part of a deepening divide between the well-educated well-off and the unskilled poor. Rapid technological advance has raised the incomes of the highly skilled while squeezing those of the unskilled. The consequences, for individuals and society, are profound.
The world is facing an astonishing rise in the number of old people, and they will live longer than ever before. Over the next 20 years the global population of those age d 65 or more will almost double, from 600 million to 1.1 billion. The experience of the 20th century, when greater longevity(长寿) translated into more years in retirement rather than more years at work, has persuaded many observers that this shift will lead to slower economic growth, while the swelling ranks of pensioners will create government budget problems.
But the notion of a sharp division between the working young and the idle old misses a new trend, the growing gap between the skilled and the unskilled. Employment rates are falling among younger unskilled people, whereas older skilled folk are working longer. The divide is most extreme in America, where well-educated baby-boomers(二战后生育高峰期出生的美国人) are putting off retirement while many less-skilled younger people have dropped out of the workforce.
Policy is partly responsible. Many European governments have abandoned policies that used to encourage people to retire early. Rising life expectancy(预期寿命), combined with the replacement of generous defined-benefit pension plans with less generous defined-contribution ones, means that even the better-off must work longer to have a comfortable retirement. But the changing nature of work also plays a big role. Pay has risen sharply for the highly educated, and those people continue to reap rich rewards into old age because these days the educated elderly are more productive than the preceding generation. Technological change may well reinforce that shift: the skills that complement computers, from management knowhow to creativity, do not necessarily decline with age.

根据第一段“Rapid technological advance has raised the incomes of the highly skilled while squeezing those of the unskilled. The consequences, for individuals and society, are profound(快速的技术进步提高了高技能人群的收入,同时挤压了低技能人群的收入。这对个人和社会的影响是深远的)”可知,快速的技术进步加深了富裕人群和贫困人群之间的差距。故选B项。
3.细节理解题。根据第二段“The experience of the 20th century, when greater longevity (长寿) translated into more years in retirement rather than more years at work, has persuaded many observers that this shift will lead to slower economic growth, while the swelling ranks of pensioners will create government budget problems.(20 世纪的经验是,更长的寿命转化为更多的退休年限而非工作年限,这使许多观察家相信,这种转变将导致经济增长放缓,同时不断膨胀的养老金领取者队伍将给政府预算带来问题)”可知,鉴于20世纪的经验,许多观察家预测经济增长将会放缓。故选A项。
根据第四段“Rising life expectancy (预期寿命), combined with the replacement of generous defined-benefit pension plans with less generous defined-contribution ones, means that even the better-off must work longer to have a comfortable retirement(预期寿命的提高,加上慷慨的固定福利养老金计划被不那么慷慨的固定缴款养老金计划所取代,意味着即使是富裕的人也必须工作更长时间才能过上舒适的退休生活)” 可知,欧洲国家政策变化的结果是,即使是富裕的人也必须工作更长时间才能在退休后过上舒适的生活。故选C项。
Passage 2
After astonishing breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, many people worry that they will be replaced by AI. Global Google searches for “is my job safe?” have doubled in recent months, as people fear that they will be replaced with large language models (LLMs). In a recent paper Tyna Eloundou of OpenAI and colleagues say that “around 80% of the US workforce could have at least 10% of their work tasks affected by the introduction of LLMs”.
Economists, however, tend to enjoy making predictions about automation more than they enjoy testing them. In the early 2010s many of them loudly predicted that robots would kill jobs by the millions, only to fall silent when employment rates across the rich world rose to all-time highs.
Few of the doom-mongers (末日论者) have a good explanation for why countries with the highest rates of tech usage around the globe, such as Japan, Singapore and the Republic of Korea, consistently have among the lowest rates of unemployment.
Here we introduce our first attempt at tracking AI’s impact on jobs. Using American data on employment by occupation, we single out white-collar workers.
White-collar roles are thought to be especially sensitive to generative AI, which is becoming ever better at logical reasoning and creativity. However, there is as yet little evidence of an AI hit to employment. In the spring of 2020 white-collar jobs rose, as many people in service occupations lost their job at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. And in the past year the white-collar share of employment in professions thought to be at risk from generative AI has risen by 0.5%.
Of course, it’s still early days for generative AI. Few firms yet use generative Al tools at large scale, so the impact on jobs could merely be delayed.
Another possibility, however, is that these new technologies will end up destroying only a small number of roles. While Al may be efficient at some tasks, it may be less good at others, such as management and working out what others need.
AI could even have a positive effect on jobs. If workers using it become more efficient, profits at their company could rise which would then allow bosses to ramp up hiring.
A recent survey by Experis, an IT-recruitment firm, points to this possibility. More than half of Britain’s employers expect AI technologies to have a positive impact on the number of their staff over the next two years, it finds.
To see how it all shakes out, we will publish updates to this analysis every few months. But for now, a job apocalypse seems a long way off.

1.A 2.D 3.D 4.C 5.A
根据第一段“After astonishing breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, many people worry that they will be replaced by AI. Global Google searches for “is my job safe?” have doubled in recent months, as people fear that they will be replaced with large language models (LLMs). In a recent paper Tyna Eloundou of OpenAI and colleagues say that “around 80% of the US workforce could have at least 10% of their work tasks affected by the introduction of LLMs”.(在人工智能取得惊人突破之后,许多人担心他们将被人工智能取代。谷歌搜索“我的工作安全吗?”的数量在最近几个月翻了一番,因为人们担心它们将被大型语言模型(LLMs)所取代。在最近的一篇论文中,OpenAI的Tyna Eloundou和他的同事说,“大约80%的美国劳动力至少有10%的工作任务可能会受到引入人工智能的影响。”)”可知,许多人担心他们会被AI取代,因此他们担心如何避免被机器取代。故选A项。
根据第二段“Economists, however, tend to enjoy making predictions about automation more than they enjoy testing them. In the early 2010s many of them loudly predicted that robots would kill jobs by the millions, only to fall silent when employment rates across the rich world rose to all-time highs.(然而,经济学家更喜欢预测自动化,而不是测试自动化。在2010年代初,他们中的许多人大声预测机器人将夺走数百万人的工作,但当发达国家的就业率升至历史最高水平时,他们却沉默了)”可知,经济学家喜欢预测自动化但不喜欢测试,之前预测机器人会消灭数百万工作机会,但实际上就业率却上升了,这表明机器对工作岗位的影响很难明确。故选D项。
3.细节理解题。根据第五段“White-collar roles are thought to be especially sensitive to generative AI, which is becoming ever better at logical reasoning and creativity. However, there is as yet little evidence of an AI hit to employment. In the spring of 2020 white-collar jobs rose, as many people in service occupations lost their job at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. And in the past year the white-collar share of employment in professions thought to be at risk from generative AI has risen by 0.5%.(白领角色被认为对生成式人工智能特别敏感,因为生成式人工智能在逻辑推理和创造力方面正变得越来越好。
根据倒数第三段“AI could even have a positive effect on jobs. If workers using it become more efficient, profits at their company could rise which would then allow bosses to ram p up hiring.(人工智能甚至可能对就业产生积极影响。如果使用它的员工变得更有效率,公司的利润就会上升,这将使老板们能够加快招聘)”以及倒数第二段“A recent survey by Experis, an IT-recruitment firm, points to this possibility. More than half of Britain’s employers expect AI technologies to have a positive impact on the number of their staff over the next two years, it finds.(Experis是一家 IT 招聘公司,其最近的一项重新认证调查显示,有这种可能性。调查显示,超过半数的英国雇主预计人工智能技术在未来两年内会对员工数量产生积极影响)”可知,如果工人使用AI后效率提高,公司利润可能上升,这将使老板能够增加招聘,因此人工智能可能会促使雇主雇佣更多的人。故选C项。
5.主旨大意题。根据第一段“After astonishing breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, many people worry that they will be replaced by AI. Global Google searches for “is my job safe?” have doubled in recent months, as people fear that they will be replaced with large language models (LLMs). In a recent paper Tyna Eloundou of OpenAI and colleagues say that “around 80% of the US workforce could have at least 10% of their work tasks affected by the introduction of LLMs”.(在人工智能取得惊人突破之后,许多人担心他们将被人工智能取代。谷歌搜索“我的工作安全吗?”的数量在最近几个月翻了一番,因为人们担心它们将被大型语言模型(LLMs)所取代。在最近的一篇论文中,OpenAI的Tyna Eloundou和他的同事说,“大约80%的美国劳动力至少有10%的工作任务可能会受到引入人工智能的影响。”)”以及最后一段“To see how it all shakes out, we will publish updates to this analysis every few months. But for now, a job apocalypse seems a long way off.(为了了解结果如何,我们将每隔几个月更新一次分析。但就目前而言,就业末日似乎还很遥远)”以及纵观全文可知,本文主要讨论了生成式人工智能对工作岗位的影响,但目前还没有明确的证据表明它会大规模取代人类工作,因此最好的标题应该是A项“Boy Cries Wolf: Generative Al is not yet killing jobs(狼来了:生成式人工智能尚未扼杀工作岗位)”是本文最好的标题。故选A项。
Passage 3
In 1999, Google hired its 53rd employee called Charlie Ayers. This employee was unique. He didn’t develop software, nor did he have business knowledge. In fact, he just worked for a famous band. But Charlie won a cooking competition held by the company. Then, he became the company’s chef. He would help Google feed its employees. Since then, Google’s policy of free snacks has been copied.
This policy may make sense for some companies since employees don’t need to travel far to eat. The companies think it can also improve traffic during lunch hour. But firms’ free-snack policy has been attacked by politicians. They believe it extremely reduces the number of customers of local restaurants, which causes many of them to break down and eventually harms the relevant industry. So, officials are preventing Facebook opening a canteen at its new campus.
There have been many theories explaining what motivate firms to provide free snacks. Some argue it’s a firm’s dirty trick to keep workers working for longer hours. Others argue it’s about helping the firm attract talents. Still others say rich firms are just generous and that their generosity, in turn, makes their workers happier and more productive. All of these may contribute to the firms’ free snacks.
Google says its food system is about promoting teamwork and. creativity. The idea is that it provides chances to bond and exchange ideas when employees randomly meet and eat together. This, they believe, encourages creativity. While free snacks might increase the amount of time employees spend in the office, the theory that it increases creativity lacks evidence. Actually, evidence suggests unlimited candy and chips in the break room will affect people’s cognitive performance, which might eventually prevent workers from thinking intelligently. It’s no wonder that some. Google’s competitors rejected the food policy.
If companies want workers to exchange ideas, regular meals can make it. A better food system for companies is one where workers would be given a credit card for food purchases. Some colleges have a similar food system, which offers discount to fruits and vegetables and places an extra cost on junk food—junk food, after all could end up increasing the company’s health insurance bills.
There’s no such thing as a free lunch. The same is true for snacks.
1.Why does the author mention Charlie Ayers in Paragraph 1?
A.To offer the background of the text. B.To introduce the topic of the passage.
C.To expand understanding of the topic. D.To show the structure of the passage.
2.What do politicians think of firms’ free-snack policy?
A.It does increase the employees’ creativity. B.It’s beneficial to local transportation.
C.It strengthens the unity of the firms’ employees. D.It brings negative effect on local restaurants.
3.What’s Paragraph 3 mainly about?
A.The possible causes of some firms’ free-snack policy. B.The importance of the free snack policy.
C.The benefits of free-snack policy to workers. D.The oppositions to the free snack policy.
4.Why do some companies decline the free snack policy?
A.They are unaware of its positive influence. B.They consider it a big financial burden.
C.They think it weakens employees’ creativity. D.They find it unattractive to many employees.
5.Which of the following will the author agree with?
A.Companies should increase their insurance bills on workers.
B.Colleges’ food systems tend to be superior to companies’.
C.A good food system can give discounts to any food.
D.Free snacks are unnecessary in the companies.
【答案】1.B 2.D 3.A 4.C 5.D
根据第一段“In 1999, Google hired its 53rd employee called Charlie Ayers. This employee was unique. He didn’t develop software, nor did he have business knowledge. In fact, he just worked for a famous band. But Charlie won a cooking competition held by the company. Then, he became the company’s chef. He would help Google feed its employees. Since then, Google’s policy of free snacks has been copied.( 1999年,谷歌雇佣了第53名员工查理·艾尔斯。这名员工是独一无二的。他没有开发过软件,也没有商业知识。事实上,他刚为一个著名乐队工作过。但是查理赢得了公司举办的烹饪比赛。然后,他成为了公司的厨师。他将帮助谷歌公司给员工提供零食。从那以后,谷歌的免费零食政策被效仿)”可推知,作者在第一段提到查理·艾尔斯是为了介绍文章的主题。故选B。
2.细节理解题。根据第二段“But firms’ free-snack policy has been attacked by politicians. They believe it extremely reduces the number of customers of local restaurants, which causes many of them to break down and eventually harms the relevant industry. So, officials are preventing Facebook opening a canteen at its new campus.(但是公司的免费零食政策遭到了政客们的抨击。他们认为,这极大地减少了当地餐馆的顾客数量,导致许多餐馆倒闭,最终损害了相关行业。因此,官员们正在阻止Facebook在新园区开设食堂)”可知,政客们认为公司的免费零食政策给当地餐馆带来了负面影响。故选D。
3.主旨大意题。根据第三段“There have been many theories explaining what motivate firms to provide free snacks. Some argue it’s a firm’s dirty trick to keep workers working for longer hours. Others argue it’s about helping the firm attract talents. Still others say rich firms are just generous and that their generosity, in turn, makes their workers happier and more productive. All of these may contribute to the firms’ free snacks.(关于公司提供免费零食的动机,有很多理论。一些人认为这是公司让员工工作更长时间的肮脏伎俩。其他人则认为这是为了帮助公司吸引人才。还有一些人说,有钱的公司只是慷慨,他们的慷慨反过来使他们的员工更快乐,更有效率。所有这些都可能为公司的免费零食做出贡献)”可知,第三段主要讲了一些公司免费零食政策的可能原因。故选A。
根据倒数第三段“While free snacks might increase the amount of time employees spend in the office, the theory that it increases creativity lacks evidence. Actually, evidence suggests unlimited candy and chips in the break room will affect people’s cognitive performance, which might eventually prevent workers from thinking intelligently. It’s no wonder that some Google’s competitors rejected the food policy.(虽然免费零食可能会增加员工在办公室呆的时间,但它能提高创造力的理论缺乏证据。事实上,有证据表明,在休息室里无限制地吃糖果和薯条会影响人们的认知表现,最终可能会妨碍员工进行聪明的思考。难怪谷歌的一些竞争对手反对这一食品政策)”可知,有些公司拒绝免费零食政策是因为他们认为这会削弱员工的创造力。故选C。
5.推理判断题。根据倒数第二段“A better food system for companies is one where workers would be given a credit card for food purchases. Some colleges have a similar food system, which offers discount to fruits and vegetables and places an extra cost on junk food—junk food, after all could end up increasing the company’s health insurance bills.(对公司来说,一个更好的食品系统是给员工一张信用卡来购买食品。一些大学也有类似的食品系统,水果和蔬菜打折,垃圾食品要额外收费,毕竟垃圾食品最终会增加公司的健康保险账单)”以及最后一段“There’s no such thing as a free lunch. The same is true for snacks.(天下没有免费的午餐。零食也是如此)”可知,作者认为公司不应该提供免费的零食,即:公司提供免费零食是没有必要的。故选D。
Passage 4
It has become acceptable for people to say that women work less than men and therefore deserve less! It may have been true in the past when women were expected to stay at home and look after children, but women have changed over the years. They have “come out”! Gone are the days when they toiled the kitchen stove all day long; they are now aware of their needs and are willing to fight for them. They expect to be given the respect they deserve, both at home and at work. They have realized their intellectual potential and have determined to do something about it!
Women on two wheels have become a familiar sight on the roads of most Asian countries during the past few years. It is common to find a woman taking her children on her bicycle to school and then reach her office in time. She has become a major part in family decisions in every aspect and how those decisions are carried out. It would have been unimaginable a few years ago!
It is rather difficult to combine a career and a decent home life, “super woman” though she is. She needs to feel supported and fulfilled. She may arrive at work feeling as if she has already done a full day’s work. If colleagues doubt her commitment to her job, she will feel sad. At the same time, women of today expect their partners to contribute towards childcare and household chores.
Today’s women are learning to avoid situations that make them feel more stressed and it is a hard struggle. Despite all this, the new woman, “the superpower” has arrived. She still believes in the power and value of a family unit and she holds it in high esteem(尊重).

A.A woman’s opinion on her job and family.
B.The burden women in society have to bear.

2.Which of the following devices is used in Paragraph I?
A.Comparison.
B.Example.
C.List.

3.Using the example in Paragraph 2, the author wants to show that ____.
A.women were not seen on streets in the past
B.women’s jobs have changed
C.today’s women don’t need to toil in the kitchen
D.women take more responsibilities for the family
4.According to the passage, as a “super woman”, she ____.
A.can do the housework all by herself
B.can deal with her work easily every day
C.is independent in every aspect of her life
D.still finds it difficult to balance her career and family
5.Why is the phrase “come out” used in quotation marks in Paragraph 1?
A.Women are still controlled by their husbands.
B.It means more than that she comes out of the house.
C.Women are not actually coming out.
D.Women have broken up with their families.
【答案】1.C 2.A 3.D 4.D 5.B
根据“They have “come out”! Gone are the days when they toiled the kitchen stove all day long; they are now aware of their needs and are willing to fight for them. They expect to be given the respect they deserve, both at home and at work.”
根据 “It may have been true in the past when women were expected to stay at home and look after children, but women have changed over the years. They have “come out”!”可知,in the past ,和over the years第一段是运用了比较的写作手法。故选A。
根据“Women on two wheels have become a familiar sight on the roads of most Asian countries during the past few years.”
根据“It is rather difficult to combine a career and a decent home life, “super woman” though she is.”
根据“ She still believes in the power and value of a family unit and she holds it in high esteem”可知,她仍然相信一个家庭单位的力量和价值,而且她坚信这一点,可以判断出女人不仅仅从家里走出来,还承担了更多的责任和被尊重。

A.Younger people are replacing the elderly.
B.Well-educated people tend to work longer.
C.Unemployment rates are rising year after year.
D.People with no college degree do not easily find work.

1.What is the passage mainly about?
A.A woman’s opinion on her job and family.
B.The burden women in society have to bear.
C.The change of women’s status in and out of the family.
D.The responsibility of a couple in a family.
2.Which of the following devices is used in Paragraph I?
A.Comparison.
B.Example.
C.List.
D.Definition.
