阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。

A mother, Carrie Cort, 51, from Sussex, and her nine-year-old son have been named the UK’s most environmentally friendly family after winning an award for their environmental achievements.
Every aspect of Carrie’s life is environmentally friendly, from her son Adam’s birthday parties to her clothing, and she recycles everything from empty cans to milk bottle tops. “Changing our family’s lifestyle to green has saved us around £11,000 every year,” Carrie says. “Living green has made us healthier and I feel younger now. It is fun seeing what you can make with unwanted or broken things. Growing our own food is great exercise, and the food is much more nutritious and tastier.”
“My concern for the way we humans are treating the planet was really aroused when Adam was born. When he arrived, I suddenly had this awareness of the kind of planet we’re bringing our children into though I learnt something about it in university.” She began going to talks, reading books, watching documentaries and attending green meetings in order to educate herself in the details of green living.
Carrie set up the local campaign group — Sussex Green Living, six years after her son’s birth. Later, she gave up her high-powered job, as she ran a company with her brother to do her job full-time. Today, she organizes talks and workshops. She runs a repair cafe, where people can bring everything to be fixed. These help people reuse wastes. Toothpaste tubes, for example, are turned into purses by an organization. “My goal is to inspire more people to lead greener, more environmentally friendly lives, to enable us to live in greater harmony with nature. I achieve this through various Sussex Green Living communication programs and working with other organizations who have the same goals and values.”

The history of pop art begins with abstract art. Pop art emerged from the foundation of abstract art in the 1950s, first gaining recognition in Great Britain, then establishing itself in the United States in the 1960s.
In the 1930s and 1940s, abstract art was greatly popular, but people began to hate this art form. Most abstract art produced in this era could be found in art galleries or the homes of the elite (名流), not in the homes of everyday people. Pop art sprung onto the scene as the people’s art.
Some art critics say pop art is a rebellion against abstract art; others say it is an extension of abstract art. You can see elements of abstract art in many pop art prints, especially those that consist of a collage of images. However, some pop art pieces have nothing to do with abstract art, looking more like a photo of a popular consumer item, which impressed people deeply.
Richard Hamilton and Eduardo Paolozzi were two of the first contemporary pop art pioneers recognised in Great Britain. They were a part of the Independent Group, an organised group of British artists who wanted to challenge ruling modernist approaches to culture. They recognised the value of modern advertising and comic book images. They used these popular images in art as a social commentary, often building irony and humour into their artworks, thus creating a new form of art. These pieces were mass-produced and sold at affordable prices.
When pop art took off in the United States, it expanded to include a celebration of kitsch and the common images found in movies and television. Andy Wharhol is perhaps the most famous American pop art artist, known for his prints of the actress Marilyn Monroe, the singer Elvis Presley and of Gampbell’s soup cans. Andy Wharhol was inspired by images from advertisements and common consumer items. He also made a series of paintings which showed images of car accidents.
5. What impression do pop art works leave on people?
A. They are a rebellion against abstract art.
B. They have many elements of abstract art.
C. They are created so real.
D. They are products of advertisers.
6. The Independent Group was set up to ________.
A. introduce a new art form to the world B. develop modern advertising further
C. create new comic book images D. make British culture better known
7. What is the writer’s attitude towards pop art?
A. Supportive. B. Uninterested. C. Objective. D. Negative.

The concept of a growth mindset (成长型思维) has been researched over the past two decades, helping professionals in education understand the opportunities behind increasing achievement. For students, a growth mindset can be necessary for success.
First, it’s important to understand the difference between a fixed mindset and a growth mindset. Fixed mindsets tend to believe intelligence is a set quality that has no room for growth. Those with a fixed mindset avoid situations they aren’t confident in, focusing only on tasks that they are skilled in. However, those with a growth mindset take a different approach, believing intelligence and skills can be developed through learning from mistakes and challenging themselves with hard work and continued effort.
Many students experience setbacks (挫折) at some point, whether that be failing a test, switching majors, or wondering if college is right for them. Even though setbacks are discouraging, they can also teach students to learn and grow and, finally, turn them into opportunities for the future. For a student, a failing grade may result in them ignoring the consequences (后果) at first or hoping next time it will be better without any direct action towards ensuring better results. However, with a growth mindset, students will face their setbacks directly and analyze what differences they can make.
Encouraging a growth mindset in students is easier said than done. In fact, motivating students requires effort beyond encouragement and praise. Educators should place stress on students trying new things, learning from mistakes, and encouraging them to reach out for support. Using these methods, educators can focus on helping students recognize their setbacks and develop strategies for overcoming challenges.
Developing a growth mindset is more than just telling students to try harder. It’s a key tool in helping students succeed, especially when they face setbacks. To do so, educators must provide students with strategies for asking for help or developing a plan for handling setbacks. Additionally, conversations about the struggles students are facing are especially necessary. Promoting a growth mindset in students can’t be achieved in one day. Instead, it requires ongoing research, predictive methods, and strategic planning.
8. What may a student with a growth mindset be good at?
A. Learning lessons from failures. B. Completing tasks with confidence.
C. Finding others’ strengths and weaknesses. D. Encouraging others to follow their lead.
9. What does the author want to express through the example of a student’s failing grade?
A. Setbacks are unavoidable and normal.
B. Setbacks can be power for personal growth.
C. Students pay much attention to their test scores.
D. Long-term vision is important for students’ success.
10. What should educators especially do to help students develop a growth mindset?
A. Train them to work hard and never give up.
B. Find and praise their achievements timely.
C. Guide them to solve their problems independently.
D. Instruct them to learn to handle setbacks.
11. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. Finding Success Through Learning
B. Overcoming Setbacks in Education
C. Dealing with Setbacks: The Growth Mindset
D. Student Motivation: Encouragement and Support
第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Providing feedback is an essential part of personal and career development. ____12____ One of the most effective and classic methods to make it easier for both the giver and receiver is the feedback sandwich technique, sometimes also referred to as a compliment (赞美) sandwich.
If you are seeking to enhance your career growth, learning about the feedback sandwich can be a game-changer. ____13____ Rather than simply focusing on what went wrong, it ensures that the person receiving the feedback also knows what went well. The process can be broken into three parts. A manager or superior starts by providing positive feedback to encourage a person to continue their good work. Afterward, they communicate constructive feedback for the person to improve. This feedback aims to be specific, behavioral, and relevant to the situation. ____14____
The feedback sandwich technique is a highly useful method. It can help soften the blow of criticism. By starting and ending with positive feedback, it’s easier for the recipient to receive the constructive criticism without feeling attacked. ____15____ As we all know, criticism is awkward, but when you’re serving it up with two compliments, it enables the meeting or an interaction to end on a positive note.
____16____. Many people are knowledgeable about this technique, which might make it sound insincere or predictable. Also, when feedback becomes a routine, employees can start to perceive positive feedback as simply a form of sugarcoating the negatives, thus reducing its value. Hence, positive feedback should not simply be seen as something to cushion the negative, but should be delivered so as to reinforce and encourage good performance.
A. It’s essential to be aware of its limitations, though.
B. Similarly, it is also easier for the giver to offer feedback.
C. The manager then ends the feedback session with positive feedback.
D. The technique may lead to unclear and indirect personal communication.
E. It may not be for every situation, but it can make negative feedback more digestible.
F. Delivery constructive criticism, however, can be challenging if not done correctly.
G. This technique involves using constructive feedback wrapped between two layers of positive feedback.

53. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整短文。
“Another A+, and I'll get you that new game you've been wanting,” my mom said with a smile. It was just the motivation I needed. I was usually a pretty good student, but with that extra push, I was determined to do well on my next math test. Every evening, I buried myself in my notes, practicing problems. My confidence grew with every completed practice test.
When the big day arrived, I felt ready. I took a deep breath as I entered the classroom and tried to keep calm. But despite all the preparation, my nerves got the better of me. Halfway through the test, I blanked on a formula (公式), and time was running out. I scribbled down (潦草写下) the best answers I could and handed in my paper, hoping for the best.
A week later, I got the test back. My heart sank as I saw the big red “A-” at the top. “No game,” I thought miserably (痛苦地). It wasn't a bad grade, but it wasn't enough. Disappointed, I stared at the grade, wishing it could magically turn into an “A+”. I could almost hear my mom's voice, full of pride, congratulating me on my hard work. The idea gnawed (折磨) at me until I did something I never thought I'd do — I changed the “-” into a “+”.
The moment I got home, I handed the test to my mom with a forced smile. She looked at it and congratulated me, hugging me proudly. For a moment, I felt a rush of happiness. But deep down, guilt started to bubble up. I kept thinking about what I'd done. My parents always taught me to be honest and work hard, and I had broken that trust. That night, I couldn't sleep, thinking about how I'd lied to my mom. My conscience (良心) felt heavier and heavier with each passing day.

Later that night I reflected on everything.

【答案】范文:
After a few days of holding onto the secret, I couldn’t take it anymore. Sitting with my parents one evening, I took a deep breath and confessed, “Mom, Dad, I need to tell you something about my grade.” They looked at me, surprised and a bit worried. “I ... I didn’t actually get an A+. I got an A-, and I changed it to make you happy.” For a moment, there was silence. My mom’s face softened as she looked at me, and my dad took a deep breath. “We’re disappointed, but we’re proud that you decided to tell us the truth,” my dad said gently. “Changing the grade wasn’t right, but you’ve learned something important.”
Later that night, I reflected on everything. I’d learned that there are no shortcuts to trust or achievement. More importantly, I realized how much my parents cared, not for a perfect grade, but for my character. I promised myself that next time, I’d own my efforts and be honest, no matter the outcome. As I drifted to sleep, I felt a sense of peace, knowing I’d done the right thing. I was ready to work hard, no shortcuts, and make them proud for the right reasons.
