Dressed in a nice white dress, a woman walks slowly through a forest covered with snow. As people play the song Let It Go, the woman looks like a character from a fairy tale.
This is a scene from a video. The woman, Du Bo, is not an actress but the director-general of the Culture and Tourism Bureau (文旅局) of Tahe, Heilongjiang. In the short video, Du wears the traditional clothes of the Oroqen ethnic group (鄂伦春族).
Though the video lasts less than half a minute, it took Du about two hours at -20°C to shoot the video. Du had to drink two big cups of ginger tea to warm herself up after the shooting. She said she hoped to show the beauty of her hometown, Tahe, with the short video.
As short videos are becoming more and more popular in China, many tourism officials choose to make short videos to show traditional Chinese culture and invite tourists to visit their hometowns. From riding horses and dressing up as astronauts to putting on traditional clothes, the officials are using a smart way to speak for their hometowns.
