Li Qingzhao (1084—1155) is one of the best-known female writers in Chinese history. She showed great love for writing and was known as a talented special woman then. But her life was a bittersweet story.
Born into a famous literary (爱好文学的) family, Li was someone who always wanted to destroy old customs and traditions from the start. Women in the Song dynasty stayed indoors. They didn’t discuss politics, and only spoke when spoken to. But just at the age of 17, Li Qingzhao made a name for herself.
She was lucky in her marriage. In 1101, she married Zhao Mingcheng, with whom she shared the interest in the art collection. They lived in present-day Shandong. They were not wealthy, but they lived happily together. Li and her husband collected many books. They shared a love of poetry and often wrote poems for each other. They sold clothes and went hungry to slowly build up a big library, and they always spent their nights on literary drinking games like this one: An event would be chosen from a pile of books, and the person would win if he/ she first named the book, chapter, page, and line where it was found.
This happy life was ruined by the wars of 1127. The Northern Song capital fell this year during the Jin-Song wars. Fighting took place in Shandong and their house was burnt. The couple took many of their possessions and ran away to Nanjing, where they lived for a year. Zhao Mingcheng died in 1129, leaving her childless and alone. ①Do you want to have a better memory? When we study, we often hope what we learn can stay in our minds. Here are some useful ways to improve our memory.
②According to experts, we can learn things better if we wait for a while before studying them again. After some time of forgetting, trying to recall what we learned will make it easier to remember in the future.
③Studies show that taking a short break and doing nothing after studying can also help us remember things better. We don’t know exactly why this happens. Maybe it has something to do with the relationship between long-term and short-term memory.
④Another study tip is to change between different topics as you study. This can help us connect different ideas. Jonathan Hancock, a former world memory champion, says that imagining pieces of information in different places or connecting them with memorable pictures can make them easier to remember. This can help you make connections between different ideas.
⑤Many other experts also suggest that we should get enough rest and exercise. For example, getting 7-8 hours of quality sleep every night can help our brains consolidate (巩固) memories. Things like jogging, swimming, and cycling can make more blood (血液) flow to our brains. More blood means more oxygen (氧气) and nutrients (营养) for our brain cells. This can make our brains work better and help us remember things better.
⑥Improving our memory is not easy, but we can do something about it.
37.According to experts, what can help us learn things better?
A.Studying continuously without breaks.
B.Waiting for a while before studying again.
C.Imagining information in memorable pictures only.
D.Doing jogging, swimming, and cycling every day.

A.By giving examples. B.By comparing facts.
C.By listing numbers. D.By telling a story.

A. B. C. D.
40.What is the main purpose (目的) of the text?
A.To explain different kinds of memories.
B.To provide advice on how to improve memory.
C.To discuss the importance of sleep and exercise.
D.To tell us the difficulties in improving memories.
A city without cars would be very strange, right? But Venice is such a city. Venice is in the northeast of Italy. It wasn’t built on land, like Beijing or Shanghai, but on more than 110 islands. 41
Even so, travel isn’t difficult. The waterways have always been the best way to get around. There are many waterways and more than 400 bridges that can guide you where you want to go. 42 They like to enjoy the scenery and cool summer nights while taking boat trips. They can talk to other people as they go along.
Venice grew out of small islands in saltwater lakes when some people escaped from a war many years ago and built homes there. 43 Once, people used too much underground water. This made the city get lower little by little. 44 Another problem is the rising seawater. The temperature has risen over the years. 45
Every year, the high water hits the city. When a lot of water comes, more than half of the city is underwater. Scientists are trying different ways to stop the city from getting even lower.
A.Water makes the city special, but it is also a big problem.

Do you remember the old days when TV shows were a big part of our lives? However, in late September came the news that four channels (频道) of the Shanghai TV Station will be closed down. These days, mobile phones have become the main way people get news and have fun. Even older people are spending a lot of time watching videos on their phones.
What makes the change (变化)?
Chu Ming: People are busier now, so they like to watch short videos that fit into their busy day. TV shows are often long or have fixed times, which might not work for everyone. And, with social media (社交媒体) and other platforms, people want to do more than just watch. They want to talk about what they watch and share it with others. It’s not just about what’s happening outside. If TV stations don’t change with what people like, they might lose viewers (观众) or even stop.
Is it a good change?

Now, it’s not common to see families watching the Spring Festival Gala together on TV. That warm family time seems old-fashioned now.

C.By listing numbers. D.By telling a story.
39.How is the text organized? (①= Paragraph 1 ②= Paragraph 2,…)
A. B. C. D.
40.What is the main purpose (目的) of the text?
A.To explain different kinds of memories.

40.主旨大意题。通读全文可知,本文围绕提升记忆力提供了多种建议,故选B。

【导语】本文主要讲述了莉莉学习中文的经历。
46.句意:她刚来中国时讲汉语有困难。根据“Lily is from the UK.”和“when she came to China at first.”可知,莉莉来自英国,所以刚开始学汉语是有困难的,have difficulty in doing sth“做某事有困难”。故填(d)ifficulty。
47.句意:她感到孤独,因为她在学校没有朋友。根据“because she didn’t have any friends at school”可知,莉莉在学校没有朋友,所以会感到孤独,lonely“孤独的”,是形容词。故填(l)onely。

depend on意为“取决于”,动词短语,此处表示客观规律,应用一般现在时,主语“people’s feeling of time and space”表示单数,所以应用depend的第三人称单数形式depends;without hesitation意为“毫不犹豫地”,介词短语。故填depends;on;without;hesitation。
