People who build real AI products. People who use AI in different industries like healthcare or farming. “In the future, the demand for AI talent will become more specialized across different levels and fields,” Wang said. “Universities should focus on differentiated AI talent cultivation when designing their programs and courses.”

One sunny morning, Tom went to a big company for a job interview. He was very nervous as he really wanted this job. When he entered the office, he saw many people waiting in line. Tom took a deep breath and joined the line.
Finally, it was his turn. He walked into the office and greeted the manager. The manager, a middle-aged man with glasses, told Tom to sit down. Tom sat there, his hands shaking a little.
The manager started asking him some questions. “Can you tell me something about yourself?” the manager asked. Tom took a moment to think and then began to introduce himself. He said he was a hard-working student and he had some experience in doing part-time jobs.
The manager nodded and then asked, “Why do you want to work for our company?” Tom thought for a while and replied, “I think your company is very famous and has a good reputation (名誉). I want to learn a lot from here and I’m willing to work hard.”
The manager smiled and said, “Well, we will let you know the result in a week.” Tom thanked the manager and left the office.
A week later, Tom got a call from the company. He was very excited to hear that he got the job.
Now, Tom is working in the company. He is very happy and he tries his best to do his job well. One day, the manager called Tom into his office. “Tom, you have been working here for a few months. How do you like your job?” the manager asked. Tom smiled and said, “I like it very much. I have learned a lot from this job and I have also made many good friends here. I will keep working hard and I hope I can make more contributions (贡献) to the company.”

To deliver (运送) the food on time, food couriers sometimes break traffic rules. They sometimes run red lights and drive on the wrong side of the road—even though they know it is dangerous to do so. Despite rising interest, the gap between market demand and AI talent cultivation persists.
Wang Liang, a researcher at the Institute of Automation at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, told Xinhua News Agency that AI needs different types of talent: People who invent new AI technology. People who build real AI products. People who use AI in different industries like healthcare or farming. “In the future, the demand for AI talent will become more specialized across different levels and fields,” Wang said. “Universities should focus on differentiated AI talent cultivation when designing their programs and courses.”
