I. Analysis of the text:
This lesson is derived from Unit 4 of Book 1: Natural Disasters. It belongs to "man and nature" in the context of the theme, and the theme is natural disaster prevention, safety knowledge and self-protection. This lesson is in the third part of the unit and is based on listening and Speaking. Through the learning of the first two periods, students have a systematic understanding of natural disasters. This part is based on listening and oral expression, to help students obtain , summarize , and use information. The first part is listening material, discussing self-protection measures in an earthquake. The second part is about providing some functional vocabulary of first aid measures and first aid supplies to help students smoothly discuss how to save themselves in other disasters.
II. Analysis of the students:
The class is for grade one students of No. 10 Middle School. The overall foundation of students is weak, their vocabulary still needs to be improved. They are not good at listening and oral expression . But most students are eager to learn something new. Their age and cognitive level indicate some knowledge of natural disasters. Therefore, what they learn is not only limited to the knowledge in the textbook, but also should be connected with the real society and put into practice. At present, they can extract some information in English, but their ability to express, describe the whole event, expound the meaning, criticize and evaluate is not good enough..
III. Teaching goals:
1. Master the core vocabulary, phrases and sentence patterns.
2. Listen and understand the main content and key information in the dialogue, learn and understand first aid skills and items about natural disasters.
3. Learn coping skills and first aid measures in different disasters based on autonomous learning and group cooperation learning.

Step1: Warming-up
I’ll lead students to watch a short video about disasters, and let them to notice what disasters they can see in the video.
Step 2: Pre-listening
I will present a question : If you are trapped in an earthquake, what will you do to protect yourself?And students think and answer the question.
Step 3: While-listening
I’ll guide students to listen to the conversation and choose the right answer of 5 questions;
2. Then students listen to the conversation again and complete the table;
3.Students are encouraged to conclude what they can do to prepare for an earthquake from three aspects: before an earthquake, during and earthquake and after an quake.
4. I will lead students to know other ten useful survival skills and how to give safety instructions.
Step 4: Post-listening
I will lead students to think what natural disasters often happen in Guizhou.
And get students to recognize common emergency supplies, such as Water and food, radio, flashlight, whistle, first aid kit;Then students report the safety instructions they listed and explain what emergency supplies people should keep on hand according to a sample.

I will lead students to summarize what they have learned to recall what they have learned in this class;
