In my family, Norooz — the Persian New Year — has always been the most important day of the year. It means making and enjoying 1 prepared dishes with the people I love, the sound of drinks pouring, and the 2 of fingers moving fast to deal with nuts.

Holi is a joyous Hindu festival that has been celebrated in India for centuries. It marks the end of winter and welcomes the beginning of spring, and it also 1 the triumph of good over evil. The second day of Holi is also called The Festival of Color, which was 2 to me.
We started in our guesthouse, with our hosts, their young son, and some other 3 , and we had a lot of fun with throwing colors and smearing (涂抹) them on each other. Last year I attended the annual autumn saffron (藏红花) harvest festival on a trip in Italy, known as the sagra. Giovannina Sarra and her family 1 me at their home. Early the next morning, we 2 among the fields and participated in the harvest.

It was the night of the full moon, a time which always drives Java’s young people mad with excitement.
