At the most basic level, getting a"like"stimulates the release of neurochemicals in our brains, most notably dopamine,a neurotransmitter associated with pleasure, motivation, and reward. When we receive positive social feedback like a digital"like",our brains interpret it as a reward, reinforcing (the behavior that led to it. In ancestral groups, individuals who were strong and skilled hunters, good storytellers,or caring caregivers would garner respect and influence. This brought enormous benefits;better access to resources, more desirable mates, and a greater say in group decisions. Also, human survival depended almost entirely on cooperation within groups.Being accepted, valued, and integrated into a community was important. From this perspective, behaviors that helped to build social bonding and get acceptance were heavily favored by natural selection. Our brains long for social approval because, historically,it literally meant the difference between life and death. On social media,"likes"signal that our ideas, appearance,or humor are valued by others. They indicate that we are contributing positively to the"digital community"and are worthy of attention. The more"likes"we get, the more visible and seemingly influential we become, which means the real-world benefits of high social standing While our longing for "likes"is rooted in ancient, beneficial evolutionary mechanisms, the digital environment can take advantage of these urges.Unlike real-world social interactions, digital "likes"offer instant, quantifiable acknowledgement. This can lead to addiction, anxiety and comparison, and performative living. Therefore,we have to remind ourselves that while a digital"like"can feel good, true well-being still depends on genuine human connection beyond the screen. 28.What will happen to those getting"likes"for their posts? A.They will reward other posters. B.Their behavior will be monitored. C.They feel encouraged to post again.D.Their dopamine will drop sharply. 29.What does the underlined word"garner"in paragraph 3 probably mean? A.Explain. B.Gain. C.Value. D.Estimate. 30.What is the author's opinion on real-world social interactions? A.They prove a digital"like"harmless.B.They can lead to performative living. C.They are related to instant recognition.D.They help to build beneficial bonds. 31.What can be a suitable title for the text? A.Why Do We Like DigitalLikes"?B.Online Affirmations Have Two Sides C.How Our Brain's Reward System WorksD.Do We Deserve"Likes"on Social Media? 0 Many think that language is what sets humans apart from other animals, and that for us to think, language is a decisive factor.British philosopher Bertrand Russell even claimed in 1948 that no intelligent thinking can take place without language. However,a recent study in Nature suggests otherwise. It found that language and thought are two distinct entities, working in separate parts of the brain. They are,in short,"far more independent than we imagined",wrote ZME Science The study, conducted by scientists from the US,explored the language-thought relationship through two research approaches.First, they studied patients suffering from global aphasia, who had lost much of their ability to understand or speak due to damage to the left hemisphere of their brain. However, they can still complete complex tasks "You can ask people with global aphasia to solve math problems or perform social reasoning tests, and as long as the instructions are non-verbal,they can succeed,"Evelina Fedorenko, one of the study's authors from the US Massachusetts Institute of Technology, told ZME Science. The researchers also used brain-imaging tools to study the brains of healthy volunteers as they performed non-verbal tasks, like solving puzzles and planning. It was found that the brain's language regions were mostly inactive during such activities. In other words,we generally need language to express our thoughts but we can still think without words So,if language isn't necessary for thinking, then why did humans develop it?Fedorenko said language serves mainly as a tool for communication."Most of the things that you probably learned about the world, you learned through language and not through direct experience with the world,"she said.By being able to share complex information through language, humans gained an evolutionary advantage. Although language does not give rise to thoughts, past research shows that how we speak can heavily influence how we think. For example, the English sentence"he fired the gun"is usually phrased as"the gun went off'in Japanese. As a result,English speakers are more likely to focus on the person responsible for an accident than Japanese speakers, according to Psychology Today. 32.What is the main purpose of the study mentioned in the passage? A.To prove that language is essential for intelligent thinking. 试题第7页(共12页) B.To examine the relationship between language and thought O C.To develop new treatments for patients with global aphasia D.To identify the brain regions responsible for non-verbal reasoning. 33.What did brain-imaging tools reveal about healthy volunteers performing non-verbal task? A.They struggled with problem-solving.B.Their language centers became overactive C.Their language regions showed little activity.D.They would unconsciously use verbal strategies. 34.How can language serve humans, according to Fedorenko? A.It helps humans generate thoughts. B.It decides humans'evolutionary direction 张 C.It replaces direct experience with the world.D.It facilitates the exchange of complicated ideas. 35.What is the main idea of the text? A.Thought can operate independently from language 加 0 B.Language plays a decisive role in shaping human thought. C.Language and thought are deeply interdependent in the brain. 游 D.The absence of language makes complex thought impossible. Even as a child,I was always goal-directed.Every January 1st,I would dutifully sit down and write out my resolutions for the upcoming year:lose 50 pounds, run a marathon, have a picture-perfect home!Oh,and be the 0 best parent ever who never yelled at my children!36 By every March,I fall trapped in a cycle of S ambition and guilt. Everything changed when I faced consistent battles with breast and appendix cancer. That's right:two different cancers, with two different treatment plans,at the same time,in the same body.37 And I 区 : won't lie-the next year was incredibly difficult. Experiencing dual treatments taught me profound lessons.38 Simply waking up cancer-free became my definition of triumph.Where I once measured success by completed checklists,I now found victory in my children's laughter or sunlight filtering through hospital blinds. 烯 I abandoned traditional resolutions by realizing that big goals invite big failures.Instead,I adopted a "mini-mission"approach.39 For example, rather than aiming for daily gym marathons,I committed to 20-minute walks three times weekly. The magic lies in accumulated progress. After mastering basic nutrition goals (five vegetable servings daily),I added hydration targets (replacing soda with herbal tea). This gradual method even helped me conquer the 试题第8页(共12页) fearful rowing machine-a feat()I'd previously considered impossible. 40 My only“resolution'”last year was avoiding medical deductibles(免赔a额)through sustained : small health habits. To my delight,it worked not through extreme measures, but through the snowball effect of : : mini-achievements. .: A.It was a lot to deal with B.Immediate results often mask long-term costs ·····... Firstly, gardening such as planting vegetables and fruit trees is a hands-on labor experience that not only gets us physically active but also deepens our understanding of plant growth and cultivation. In the process of sowing, watering, and weeding, we can savor the joy of nurturing life. Besides, this activity fosters a sense of teamwork and community responsibility. Just then, the classroom door opened, and in walked the headmaster, followed by all the other teachers and staff. Some students recalled how he had helped them overcome difficulties in math, while others thanked him for being a kind and inspiring teacher. Gayle held each card tightly, cherishing these precious memories. This change is reshaping urban mobility and contributing to reduced greenhouse gas emissions (排放) worldwide. Country Performance on Various Transport This table provides a comprehensive overview of how these countries perform in various aspects of green transport. Key statistics highlighting the progress in green public transport: ·In Europe, electric bus registrations saw a remarkable 53%growth in 2023,with 6,354 units registered across EU27 countries plus Norway, Iceland, and Switzerland. ·Over 42% of city buses in Europe were zero-emission (battery electric and hydrogen) in 2023, a dramatic increase from just 15% in 2020. ·According to initial estimates, the EU’s share of renewable energy used for transport increased from under 2% in 2005 to 8.7% in 2022. ·Electric car registrations in Europe accounted for 21.6% of total new car registrations in 2022. ·The European Green Deal has set an ambitious target of achieving a 90% reduction in transport-related greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. ·Nearly 50.000 electric buses were sold globally in 2023, representing 3%of total bus sales and bringing the global storage to approximately 635,000 units. ·China continues to dominate the market, accounting for around 60% of global electric bus sales in 2023, although this is a decrease from previous years. These figures emphasize the rapid adoption of green public transport solutions, particularly in developed regions. However, challenges remain in increasing these initiatives globally, especially in developing countries where the demand for passenger transport is expected to increase by up to 79% between 2019 and 2050. The change to green public transport is not just about reducing emissions; it’s also improving air quality and public health. The shift to electric and other clean technologies is becoming increasingly crucial, with transport-related air pollution causing approximately £771.6 billion in health damages annually. 21.Which country has the highest access to charging people’s EV? A.China. B.Germany. C.Luxembourg. D.Netherlands. 22.What’s the pure growth rate for zero-emission buses in Europe? A.42%. B.27%. C.11%. D.45%. 23.What is the future of green public transport? A.It will be widely adopted in developing regions. B.There will be no difficulty in adopting it worldwide. C.Expenses on people’s health damage will be higher. D.Transport-related air pollution will make it uncertain. B I always expected the worst in any scenes — focusing on the 2% death rate of a 98% successful surgery and visualizing my son’s mild cough as a rare condition. I spent years avoiding activities that I was sure would end in misfortune. I became a helicopter mom, checking the backyard for anything dangerous before letting David out to play — under my strict supervision (监督). Without my husband Don’s insistence, our son would never have learned to throw a ball. He argued I couldn’t keep watching over our four-year-old boy all the time and preventing him from doing sports and activities. Unwilling as I was, I knew he was right and left the “boy stuff” to Daddy. One day, David was carefully wrapping his Superman figure in a piece of bubble wrap (气泡膜). My first reaction was to take it away from him so he wouldn’t accidentally choke — until he spoke. “There! Now you’re safe when flying into pointy buildings,” he told his childhood hero. Suddenly, unpleasant realities struck me. I regularly refused all the different crowd outings because of panic over emergency. Though we went camping occasionally, I dampened their joy by wondering how many bears would kill us in our sleep. But seeing my son repeat my previous behavior by wrapping a superhero woke me up. That night, I suggested going to a concert downtown. “Aren’t you worried there might be a fire or something?” my husband asked, genuinely astonished. I knew I deserved that, but I let it go. “Always...But we’ll cross that bridge if we come to it.” That would become my new belief, no matter how difficult it was to say that first time. C In the vast digital landscape, the humble “like” has become a common currency. Whether it’s a heart, a thumbs-up, or an upvote on social media, these tiny affirmations (肯定) hold an invisible power over us. We carefully check notifications, craft posts for maximum engagement, and even feel disappointed when our content doesn’t perform as expected. But why do we, as humans, care so deeply about these digital signals? At the most basic level, getting a “like” stimulates the release of neurochemicals in our brains, most notably dopamine, a neurotransmitter associated with pleasure, motivation, and reward. When we receive positive social feedback like a digital “like”, our brains interpret it as a reward, reinforcing (强化) the behavior that led to it. In ancestral groups, individuals who were strong and skilled hunters, good storytellers, or caring caregivers would garner respect and influence. This brought enormous benefits; better access to resources, more desirable mates, and a greater say in group decisions. Also, human survival depended almost entirely on cooperation within groups. Being accepted, valued, and integrated into a community was important. From this perspective, behaviors that helped to build social bonding and get acceptance were heavily favored by natural selection. Our brains long for social approval because, historically, it literally meant the difference between life and death. On social media, “likes” signal that our ideas, appearance, or humor are valued by others. They indicate that we are contributing positively to the “digital community” and are worthy of attention. The more “likes” we get, the more visible and seemingly influential we become, which means the real-world benefits of high social standing. While our longing for “likes” is rooted in ancient, beneficial evolutionary mechanisms, the digital environment can take advantage of these urges. Unlike real-world social interactions, digital “likes” offer instant, quantifiable acknowledgement. This can lead to addiction, anxiety and comparison, and performative living. Therefore, we have to remind ourselves that while a digital “like” can feel good, true well-being still depends on genuine human connection beyond the screen. 28.What will happen to those getting “likes” for their posts? A.They will reward other posters. B.Their behavior will be monitored. C.They feel encouraged to post again. D.Their dopamine will drop sharply. 29.What does the underlined word “garner” in paragraph 3 probably mean? A.Explain. B.Gain. C.Value. D.Estimate. 30.What is the author’s opinion on real-world social interactions? A.They prove a digital “like” harmless. B.They can lead to performative living. C.They are related to instant recognition. D.They help to build beneficial bonds. 31.What can be a suitable title for the text? A.Why Do We Like Digital “Likes”? B.Online Affirmations Have Two Sides C.How Our Brain’s Reward System Works D.Do We Deserve “Likes” on Social Media? D Many think that language is what sets humans apart from other animals, and that for us to think, language is a decisive factor. British philosopher Bertrand Russell even claimed in 1948 that no intelligent thinking can take place without language. However, a recent study in Nature suggests otherwise. It found that language and thought are two distinct entities, working in separate parts of the brain. They are, in short, “far more independent than we imagined”, wrote ZME Science. The study, conducted by scientists from the US, explored the language-thought relationship through two research approaches. First, they studied patients suffering from global aphasia, who had lost much of their ability to understand or speak due to damage to the left hemisphere of their brain. However, they can still complete complex tasks. “You can ask people with global aphasia to solve math problems or perform social reasoning tests, and as long as the instructions are non-verbal, they can succeed,” Evelina Fedorenko, one of the study’s authors from the US Massachusetts Institute of Technology, told ZME Science. The researchers also used brain-imaging tools to study the brains of healthy volunteers as they performed non-verbal tasks, like solving puzzles and planning. It was found that the brain’s language regions were mostly inactive during such activities. In other words, we generally need language to express our thoughts but we can still think without words. So, if language isn’t necessary for thinking, then why did humans develop it? Fedorenko said language serves mainly as a tool for communication. “Most of the things that you probably learned about the world, you learned through language and not through direct experience with the world,” she said. By being able to share complex information through language, humans gained an evolutionary advantage. Although language does not give rise to thoughts, past research shows that how we speak can heavily influence how we think. For example, the English sentence “he fired the gun” is usually phrased as “the gun went off” in Japanese. As a result, English speakers are more likely to focus on the person responsible for an accident than Japanese speakers, according to Psychology Today. 32.What is the main purpose of the study mentioned in the passage? A.To prove that language is essential for intelligent thinking. B.To examine the relationship between language and thought. C.To develop new treatments for patients with global aphasia. D.To identify the brain regions responsible for non-verbal reasoning. 33.What did brain-imaging tools reveal about healthy volunteers performing non-verbal task? A.They struggled with problem-solving. B.Their language centers became overactive. C.Their language regions showed little activity. D.They would unconsciously use verbal strategies. 34.How can language serve humans, according to Fedorenko? A.It helps humans generate thoughts. B.It decides humans’ evolutionary direction. C.It replaces direct experience with the world. D.It facilitates the exchange of complicated ideas. 35.What is the main idea of the text? A.Thought can operate independently from language. B.Language plays a decisive role in shaping human thought. C.Language and thought are deeply interdependent in the brain. Oh, and be the best parent ever who never yelled at my children! 36 By every March, I fall trapped in a cycle of ambition and guilt. Everything changed when I faced consistent battles with breast and appendix cancer. His career was like a long and winding road filled with challenges and joys. In the early years, he struggled to make math interesting to students who often found it boring. But he never gave up. He used colorful charts, fun games, and real-life examples to explain complex problems. Over time, he became a beloved figure in the school. His classroom was always filled with laughter and the sound of eager students asking questions. One of the most memorable moments was when he helped a shy student named Emily overcome her fear of math. Emily used to tremble whenever she had to solve a problem on the blackboard. But Gayle was patient. He encouraged her step by step. One day, when Emily finally solved a difficult problem correctly, the whole class cheered. From that day on, Emily became more confident, and she even started helping other students. Gayle felt a deep sense of pride and fulfillment. Today was different. It was Gayle’s last day before retirement. As he walked into the classroom, he felt a mix of emotions. The familiar desks, the chalkboard, and the smiling faces of his students all seemed to be saying goodbye. He took a deep breath and began the lesson as usual, but his heart was heavy. He knew he would miss the daily interactions with his students and the excitement of seeing them learn and grow. As the class went on, Gayle could feel the students’ attention more focused than ever. They seemed to sense that this was a special day. He finished the last problem on the board and turned to the class. “Well, that’s it for today. And for me, it’s the end of a long journey. I just want to say how much I’ve enjoyed teaching you all. You’ve made these years truly memorable.” Just then, the classroom door opened, and in walked the headmaster, followed by all the other teachers and staff. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ One by one, the students came up to him, giving him hugs and handing him cards and gifts. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 试题 第7页(共8页) 试题 第8页(共8页) 试题 第1页(共8页) 试题 第2页(共8页) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2026年高考第一次模拟考试 高三英语 (考试时间:120分钟 试卷满分:150分) 注意事项: 1. 1.How do the speakers sound? I regret the roads not taken because of my imagined assumptions, but my determination to change grows. I will always be grateful to my son and Superman, who made my increasingly smaller world become bigger, brighter, more positive, and happier. 24.Which picture best illustrates a helicopter mother according to the text? A. B. C. D. 25.What prevented the author from taking the bubble wrap away from David? A.David’s awareness of his own safety. B.Don’s criticism of her strict supervision. C.Undivided attention David paid to his toy. D.Overprotective nature mirrored in David’s act. 26.What do the author’s words in paragraph 6 suggest? A.Her shift in response pattern. B.Her strategy to avoid conflict. C.Her transformation in parenting style. D.Her tendency to imagine the worst. 27.What is the author’s purpose in writing the text? ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 2 / 2 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2026年高考第一次模拟考试 高三英语·全解全析 (考试时间:120分钟 试卷满分:150分) 本试卷特点: 题型 特点说明 听力 1-5小题读两遍,符合新高考的要求 阅读理解 A篇(新倾向)读懂图表数据并能分析原因是重要的培养能力之一,是未来高考新趋势,2025年的全国I卷就透射出相关信息。 1.How do the speakers sound? C.By telling their own stories. 20.What's Woolfson's opinion about parents' reading with children? A.It's quite common. B.It's not difficult. C.It's beneficial. 【答案】17.C 18.A 19.A 20.C 【原文】M: Almost two thirds of children want their parents to spend more time reading to them before bed. Most of these kids like mom’s storytelling more than dads. Researchers said they carried out a study that showed younger children aged three to four were most hungry for more stories. Over three quarters of them said they wished their parents to read to them more often. About half of all children aged three to eight said story time was their favorite pastime with their parents, according to the research. There are two ways for mothers to become best storytellers. They can use funny voices to show different characters in a story. They can also make their own special sounds to keep the story interesting and attractive. When mom and dad are not at hand, celebrities will do. Over 30% of children said they would like to hear a bedtime story from famous people like Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe. Other movie stars like Zac Efron, Miley Cyrus and Emma Watson are also welcomed by children. It can be very difficult for parents to find the time to read with their children, but these moments can help build close relationship between parents and children, and also can play an important part in their child’s development, said child psychologist Richard Wolfson. A (新倾向)Global Impact of Green Public Transport Adoption As of 2025, several countries have made significant steps in adopting and advancing green public transport systems and technological advancements. 根据“Key statistics highlighting the progress in green public transport”部分中的“Luxembourg has the highest accessibility to public EV charging points, with a ratio of 1 public charging point per 377 passenger cars, which is higher than that of China, Germany and the Netherlands.(卢森堡的公共电动汽车充电桩可达性最高,每377辆乘用车对应1个公共充电桩,这一比例高于中国、德国和荷兰。)” 根据“Key statistics highlighting the progress in green public transport”部分中的“Over 42% of city buses in Europe were zero-emission (battery electric and hydrogen) in 2023,a dramatic increase from just 15% in 2020.(2023年,欧洲超过42%的城市公交车为零排放车型(纯电动和氢能源),相比2020年的仅15%大幅增长。)” 根据关键信息中的最后一点“However, challenges remain in increasing these initiatives globally, especially in developing countries where the demand for passenger transport is expected to increase by up to 79% between 2019 and 2050. (在全球范围内推广这些举措仍面临挑战,尤其是在发展中国家,2019年至2050年期间,这些国家的客运需求预计将增长高达79%。)”以及尾段中的“The change to green public transport is not just about reducing emissions; it’s also improving air quality and public health.(向绿色公共交通转型不仅关乎减少排放,还能改善空气质量和公共健康。)” A。 B I always expected the worst in any scenes — focusing on the 2% death rate of a 98% successful surgery and visualizing my son’s mild cough as a rare condition. A.To share her personal growth journey. B.To describe anticipation for future life. C.To express regret for past imagined assumptions. D.To emphasize the impact of Superman on her son. 根据文章第二段中的“I became a helicopter mom, checking the backyard for anything dangerous before letting David out to play — under my strict supervision (监督).(于是,我成了一个“直升机式妈妈”。在让大卫出去玩耍之前,我都会先在后院仔细查看是否有任何危险情况——而且这一切都是在我的严格监督之下进行的)”可知,“直升机妈妈”表示一种过度担忧焦虑孩子状况的母亲,图片B“Tom has been out for 10 minutes. I'm wondering where he is now.(汤姆已经出去了10分钟了。我正想知道他现在在哪里)”属于直升机妈妈。故选B。 25.D细节理解题。根据文章第四段中的“One day, David was carefully wrapping his Superman figure in a piece of bubble wrap (气泡膜). My first reaction was to take it away from him so he wouldn’t accidentally choke — until he spoke. “There! Now you’re safe when flying into pointy buildings,” he told his childhood hero.(一天,大卫正小心翼翼地用一块气泡膜把他的超人玩偶包裹起来。我最初的反应是赶紧把气泡膜从他手中拿走,以免他不小心噎住——但等他开口说话后,我改变了主意。他对着自己儿时的偶像说道:“好了!这样你飞进尖尖的建筑物时就安全了。”)”以及第五段“Suddenly, unpleasant realities struck me.(突然,一些不愉快的事实向我袭来)”可知,大卫行为中所体现出来的过度保护的天性阻止作者把气泡膜从大卫身上拿走。故选D。 26.C推理判断题。根据文章第六段中的“That night, I suggested going to a concert downtown. “Aren’t you worried there might be a fire or something?” my husband asked, genuinely astonished. I knew I deserved that, but I let it go. “Always...But we’ll cross that bridge if we come to it.” That would become my new belief, no matter how difficult it was to say that first time.(那天晚上,我提议去市中心听一场音乐会。“你难道不担心可能会发生火灾之类的意外吗?”我丈夫惊讶地问道。我知道这是理所应当的,但我还是选择了不计较。 “总会发生……但到了那种时候我们自然会去应对的。”这将成为我的新信念,尽管第一次说出来的时候可能很难做到)”可知,第六段中作者的表述暗示了她在育儿方式上的转变。故选C。 27.A推理判断题。根据文章最后一段中的“I regret the roads not taken because of my imagined assumptions, but my determination to change grows. I will always be grateful to my son and Superman, who made my increasingly smaller world become bigger, brighter, more positive, and happier.(我为那些未曾走过的道路感到遗憾,那是由于我当初的错误设想所致,但我也愈发坚定了改变的决心。我永远都会感激我的儿子和超人,是他们让我的这个日益缩小的世界变得更加广阔、更加明亮、更加积极、更加美好)”以及文章围绕作者“从过度焦虑、预想最坏结果、过度保护孩子,到被儿子的行为点醒,决心改变、尝试接纳风险”的过程展开。可知,作者撰写这篇文章的目的是与大家分享她的个人成长历程。故选A。 C In the vast digital landscape, the humble “like” has become a common currency. 根据第二段“When we receive positive social feedback like a digital ‘like’, our brains interpret it as a reward, reinforcing (强化) the behavior that led to it.(当我们收到积极的社会反馈,比如一个数字“点赞”,我们的大脑会将其解读为一种奖励,从而强化导致这种奖励的行为。)” 根据画线词所在句“In ancestral groups, individuals who were strong and skilled hunters, good storytellers, or caring caregivers would garner respect and influence.(在远古族群中,那些强壮且技艺精湛的猎手、善于讲故事的人或充满爱心的照料者通常能……尊重与影响力。)”及画线词后“This brought enormous benefits; better access to resources, more desirable mates, and a greater say in group decisions.(这带来了巨大的好处;更容易获得资源,更理想的伴侣,在群体决策中有更大的发言权。)” 根据最后一段的内容,尤其是“Therefore, we have to remind ourselves that while a digital ‘like’ can feel good, true well-being still depends on genuine human connection beyond the screen.(因此,我们必须提醒自己,尽管数字世界的一个“点赞”可能让人心情愉悦,但真正的幸福仍然取决于屏幕之外的真实人际关系。)” 通读全文,尤其是第一段“But why do we, as humans, care so deeply about these digital signals?(但是,作为人类,我们为什么如此关心这些数字信号呢?)”及最后一段“While our longing for ‘likes’ is rooted in ancient, beneficial evolutionary mechanisms, the digital environment can take advantage of these urges.(尽管我们对“点赞”的渴望源于古老且有益的进化机制,但数字环境却可能利用这些本能冲动。)” A。 D Many think that language is what sets humans apart from other animals, and that for us to think, language is a decisive factor. D.The absence of language makes complex thought impossible. 根据第一段中的“However, a recent study in Nature suggests otherwise. It found that language and thought are two distinct entities, working in separate parts of the brain.(然而,最近发表在《自然》杂志上的一项研究提出了不同的观点。研究发现,语言和思维是两个不同的实体,在大脑的不同部位工作)”以及第二段中的“The study, conducted by scientists from the US, explored the language-thought relationship through two research approaches.(这项由美国科学家进行的研究通过两种研究方法探索了语言与思维的关系)”可知,文章提到的这项研究的主要目的是检查语言和思维之间的关系。故选B项。 33.细节理解题。根据第四段中的“The researchers also used brain-imaging tools to study the brains of healthy volunteers as they performed non-verbal tasks, like solving puzzles and planning. It was found that the brain’s language regions were mostly inactive during such activities.(研究人员还使用大脑成像工具研究了健康志愿者在执行非语言任务(如解谜和规划)时的大脑。研究发现,大脑的语言区域在这样的活动中大多是不活跃的)”可知,大脑成像工具显示,健康志愿者在进行非语言任务时,他们的大脑语言区域几乎没有活动。故选C项。 34.细节理解题。根据第五段中的“Fedorenko said language serves mainly as a tool for communication. ‘Most of the things that you probably learned about the world, you learned through language and not through direct experience with the world,’ she said. By being able to share complex information through language, humans gained an evolutionary advantage.(Fedorenko说,语言主要作为一种交流工具。“你可能了解到的关于世界的大部分事情,都是通过语言而不是通过与世界的直接接触学到的,”她说。通过能够通过语言分享复杂的信息,人类获得了进化上的优势)”可知,根据Fedorenko的说法,语言可以促进复杂思想的交流,从而为人类服务。故选D项。 35.主旨大意题。根据第一段中的“However, a recent study in Nature suggests otherwise. It found that language and thought are two distinct entities, working in separate parts of the brain.(然而,最近发表在《自然》杂志上的一项研究提出了不同的观点。研究发现,语言和思维是两个不同的实体,在大脑的不同部位工作)”以及全文内容可知,文章主要介绍了语言和思维之间的关系,研究表明,思维可以在没有语言的情况下独立运作。A选项“Thought can operate independently from language.(思想可以独立于语言而存在)”概括文章主要内容,符合题意。故选A项。 Even as a child, I was always goal-directed. Every January 1st, I would dutifully sit down and write out my resolutions for the upcoming year: lose 50 pounds, run a marathon, have a picture-perfect home! Oh, and be the best parent ever who never yelled at my children! 36 By every March, I fall trapped in a cycle of ambition and guilt. Everything changed when I faced consistent battles with breast and appendix cancer. That’s right: two different cancers, with two different treatment plans, at the same time, in the same body. 37 And I won’t lie -the next year was incredibly difficult. Experiencing dual treatments taught me profound lessons. 38 Simply waking up cancer-free became my definition of triumph. Where I once measured success by completed checklists, I now found victory in my children’s laughter or sunlight filtering through hospital blinds. I abandoned traditional resolutions by realizing that big goals invite big failures. Instead, I adopted a “mini-mission” approach. 39 For example, rather than aiming for daily gym marathons, I committed to 20-minute walks three times weekly. The magic lies in accumulated progress. After mastering basic nutrition goals (five vegetable servings daily), I added hydration targets (replacing soda with herbal tea). This gradual method even helped me conquer the fearful rowing machine -a feat (壮举) I’d previously considered impossible. 40 My only “resolution” last year was avoiding medical deductibles (免赔额) through sustained small health habits. To my delight, it worked not through extreme measures, but through the snowball effect of mini-achievements. A.It was a lot to deal with. B.Immediate results often mask long-term costs C.Survival reshaped my understanding of success. D.External pressures weaken self-improvement efforts. E.Tiny achievable steps replaced monumental demands. F.Piled accomplishments build sustainable transformation G.In practical terms, my grand plans frequently backfire psychologically. 36.上文“Even as a child, I was always goal-directed. Every January 1st, I would dutifully sit down and write out my resolutions for the upcoming year: lose 50 pounds, run a marathon, have a picture-perfect home! Oh, and be the best parent ever who never yelled at my children! (甚至在还是个孩子的时候,我总是目标导向的。每年的1月1日,我都会认真地坐下来,写下我新的一年的决心:减掉50磅,跑一场马拉松,拥有一个完美的家!哦,还要成为从不对孩子大喊大叫的最好的父母!)”以及下文“By every March, I fall trapped in a cycle of ambition and guilt. (到了每年的3月,我就会陷入野心和内疚的循环中。)”描述了作者每年年初制定宏大目标,但往往到3月就陷入困境的情况。空处承上启下,说明目标宏大,但是往往会失败。所以G项“实际上,我的宏大计划经常在心理上适得其反。”符合语境。“grand plans”对应上文的resolutions,“backfire”对应下文“fall trapped in a cycle”,体现计划与结果的反差。故选G。 37.上文“Everything changed when I faced consistent battles with breast and appendix cancer. That’s right: two different cancers, with two different treatment plans, at the same time, in the same body .(当我面临乳腺癌和阑尾癌的持续斗争时,一切都变了。没错:两种不同的癌症,两种不同的治疗方案,同时发生在同一个身体上。)”描述了作者同时面临两种癌症的严峻情况。空处和前文为顺接关系,说明这种情况处理起来非常困难。所以A项“这有很多要处理。”符合语境。It指代上文“同时患两种癌症”的情况,“a lot to deal with”直接衔接 “两种治疗方案”的复杂性,且与下文“incredibly difficult”形成因果关系。故选A。 38.上文“Experiencing dual treatments taught me profound lessons. (经历双重治疗给了我深刻的教训。)”以及下文“Simply waking up cancer-free became my definition of triumph. (仅仅是醒来发现自己未受癌症困扰,便成了我对“胜利”的定义。)”说明了经历双重治疗给了作者深刻的教训。空处承上启下,说明这些教训如何改变了作者对成功的理解。所以C项“生存重塑了我对成功的理解。”符合语境。“reshaped understanding”对应下文 “从清单成功观转向存活即胜利”的转变,“survival”与“waking up cancer-free”形成语义呼应,是对段落核心观点的概括。故选C。 39.上文“I abandoned traditional resolutions by realizing that big goals invite big failures. Instead, I adopted a “mini-mission” approach. 40.上文“This gradual method even helped me conquer the fearful rowing machine-a feat (壮举) I’d previously considered impossible. (这种渐进的方法甚至帮助我征服了可怕的划船机——这是我以前认为不可能完成的壮举。)”以及下文“My only “resolution” last year was avoiding medical deductibles (免赔额) through sustained small health habits. There’s an autumn day that I recall every time I find myself caught up in the busy life. Gayle Nicholls had been a middle school math teacher for over 30 years. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ One by one, the students came up to him, giving him hugs and handing him cards and gifts. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【参考范文】     Just then, the classroom door opened, and in walked the headmaster, followed by all the other teachers and staff. They were carrying a large cake with ‌“Thank You, Mr. Nicholls” written on it in colorful icing. The headmaster stepped forward and said, ‌“Mr. Nicholls, you’ve dedicated over 30 years to educating our students. Your passion and commitment have left an indelible mark on this school. We want to express our sincere gratitude.” Gayle was deeply touched, his eyes welling up with tears. The students clapped and cheered, creating a warm and festive atmosphere. One by one, the students came up to him, giving him hugs and handing him cards and gifts. Each card was filled with heartfelt words of appreciation and love. Some students recalled how he had helped them overcome difficulties in math, while others thanked him for being a kind and inspiring teacher.
