W: Don’t worry, Mark. I’ll sort this out.
5.How does the woman calm anxiety?
A.She pays close attention to her senses.
B.She practices breathing exercises.

M: Oh, Bernice, I had to catch the bus to school today because my bike’s at the repair shop. I hate going on the bus — it takes ages. I usually cycle along the river to school and see loads of birds. It’s great.
W: Yeah, your school’s in a really nice place. Actually, I put Park School as my first choice. I knew you and Bonny and Natalie were all going there. I was pretty disappointed when I wasn’t.
M: I didn’t know that. But you’re glad you got to Stonebridge High School now, aren’t you? It’s a really good school.
W: Oh yeah, it is. I wouldn’t have been able to study Japanese or design technology if I’d gone to your school. There’s so much more choice at mine.
M: Maybe, but our sports teams usually beat yours.
W: That’s not always true — we beat you at tennis last month.
M: Yeah, but our under-fifteen footballers have just become local school champions.
W: I read about it in the newspaper. There was also a report in the paper about our school — we’re going to get a new swimming pool and gym in it. It’s about time!
M: Sounds great.

You have to be outside the school gate at 7:45, because the bus leaves from there at 8:00. There are some great things to see and do at the Cookery School. We’ll see how you can grow your own vegetables in the science room. We’ll learn how to make pizza and chocolate cake in the kitchen, and then we’ll get to eat what you make in the dining room. Now listen carefully! You need to give me nine pounds fifty five before Thursday, but please tell your parents that this includes the bus and six pounds for lunch. You don’t have to bring sandwiches for this trip and you can’t take any food into the Cooky School anyway. Don’t forget that you’ll need a pencil but you don’t have to bring a notebook. We’ll have special notebooks for you just for this trip. Well also prepare some medicine just in case. If your parents of any questions they can email me at elpets@grantschool.com or come to my office. But I suggest they just phone me at my office. My number is three eight seven four nine two eight. Jason Haney is a construction worker from Indiana. When he began his current job as foreman on a site opposite a children’s hospital, this awesome dad and hobby artist had a brilliant idea.
Haney noticed that many of the sick kids at the Memorial Children’s Hospital in South Bend could not go outside, and his construction site was the only view from their hospital rooms. So together with his teenage daughter, Haney built a 2.5 meter tall plywood (胶合板) cut out of Waldo from the famous Where’s Waldo? books.
Every day, the workers hide Waldo in a different spot on the construction site, giving the children a new challenge. As soon as Haney finds out that the kids have found Waldo, the cutout gets moved to a new secret hiding spot and the game begins again.
Heidi Prescott, a spokeswoman for Beacon Health System, which runs the hospital, said the project began one winter when the workers put up an inflatable (可充气的) snowman for the children. The kids loved the idea and from there it quickly developed into the Waldo cutout.
“It didn’t take long to catch on, the kids whether they are in the rooms or in a play area, they look across as soon as they get to the window,” Prescott told ABC News. “They will look all over the building, point and exclaim (惊叫) ‘I found him!’”
Haney, meanwhile, simply enjoys knowing that he can brighten the children’s day and make them forget that they are in hospital for a few minutes. Jason has said over and over again, “All I did this for was to make the kids smile.”
Haney even created a Facebook group where he leaves clues as to where Waldo might be hiding and the children can post photos of their findings. The project has been a huge success, with hundreds of people sharing photos of Waldo and happy parents thanking Haney for making an otherwise difficult visit to the hospital just that little bit more enjoyable.
24.Why did Jason Haney create the Waldo cutout?
A.To bring joy to sick kids in the nearby hospital.
B.To make his construction site more famous.
C.To practice his hobby of art with his daughter.
D.To attract more attention to the hospital’s work.
25.What can we learn about the Waldo game from paragraph 3?
A.The kids need to find Waldo once a week.
B.The game ends when all kids find Waldo.
C.The game is kept going by moving Waldo regularly.
D.The workers hide Waldo in the same place every day.
26.What can be inferred from the last two paragraphs?
A.Parents think the Waldo project makes hospital stays easier for kids.
B.Haney’s next project will be more successful than the Waldo one.
C.The Facebook group is only used to share hints about Waldo’s location.
D.Haney posted photos online to encourage the ill kids.
27.Which of the following words can best describe Jason Haney?
A.Selfless and humorous. B.Kind-hearted and creative.
C.Shy and quiet. D.Considerate and serious.

Young sunflowers turn and swing every day. New findings add to evidence that the plants are animal-like.
Harmer, a professor in the University of California at Davis, Department of Plant Biology, carried out a series of experiments on sunflowers in the field, in pots outdoors and in indoor growth chambers.
By staking plants so that they could not move, Harmer showed that he could destroy their ability to track the sun. He also noticed that sunflowers prevented from moving were not as tough and leafy as those that were free to move. When plants were moved indoor with a settled overhead light, they continued to swing back and forth for a few days.
The indoor plants did start tracking the “sun” again when the apparent source of lighting was moved across the room. The plants could reliably track the movement and return at night when the artificial day was close to a 24-hour cycle, but not when it was closer to 30 hours.
When sunflowers track the sun, the east sides of their stems grew more rapidly than the west sides. At night, the west sides grew faster as the stem swung the other way. The team identified a number of genes that were expressed at higher levels on the sun-ward side of the plant during the day or on the other side at night. A plant growth-regulating hormone, called auxin, appears to be a key driver.
The “dance” to the sun cycle obviously slows when the sunflower matures and its flowers open up. At that point, the plants stop moving during the day and settle down facing the sun in the east.
“Bees like warm flowers.” Harmer said, adding that the bees are cold-blooded, so landing on a warm flower saves them energy and perhaps feels really good.
“The morning warmth changes the flowers in a way to make them more appealing to insects, perhaps causing them to release more attractive scents earlier in the day.” he said, “We’re currently testing this idea.”
28.What does the underlined word “staking” probably mean in Paragraph 3?
A.Tracking. B.Fastening.
C.Growing. D.Searching.
29.What is the result of sunflowers being stopped from moving?
A.They won’t grow well.
B.They will grow faster than usual.
C.They won’t swing back though set free.
D.They will produce a number of new genes.
30.Why do mature sunflowers stop moving and face east during the day?
A.To save energy for further growth.
B.To attract bees with morning warmth.
C.To avoid being damaged by strong sunlight.
D.To receive more sunlight for photosynthesis.
31.What is the main idea of the passage?
A.Sunflowers rely on bees to regulate their growth hormones.
B.Scientists have genetically modified sunflowers to track artificial light.
C.Sunflowers exhibit animal-like behaviors through their responses to light.
D.Morning sunlight helps sunflowers produce more auxin than other plants.
【答案】28.B 29.A 30.B 31.C
【解析】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了向日葵随太阳转动的现象及相关实验研究,揭示了其类似动物行为的特性,并解释了成熟后停止转动的原因。
28.词句猜测题。根据第三段中的“By staking plants so that they could not move, Harmer showed that he could destroy their ability to track the sun.(通过staking植物使其无法移动,哈默证明了他可以破坏它们追踪太阳的能力。)”可知,“staking”的结果是植物无法移动,因此“staking”应表示“固定、拴住”。选项B“固定”,符合语境。故选B项。
29.细节理解题。根据第三段中的“He also noticed that sunflowers prevented from moving were not as tough and leafy as those that were free to move.(他还注意到,被阻止移动的向日葵不如能自由移动的向日葵健壮和多叶。)”可知,被阻止移动的向日葵生长状况不佳。选项A(它们生长不好)符合文意。故选A项。
30.细节理解题。根据倒数第二段中的““Bees like warm flowers.”(“蜜蜂喜欢温暖的花朵。”)”和最后一段中““The morning warmth changes the flowers in a way to make them more appealing to insects, perhaps causing them to release more attractive scents earlier in the day.”(“早晨的暖意会以某种方式改变花朵,让它们对昆虫更具吸引力,或许还会使花朵在白天早些时候释放出更诱人的香气。”)”可知,成熟的向日葵停止移动并朝向东方,是为了利用早晨的温暖吸引蜜蜂。故选B项。
31.主旨大意题。文章开头指出“New findings add to evidence that the plants are animal-like.(新发现进一步证明植物具有类似动物的特性。)”,后文通过实验和机制分析,详细说明了向日葵随太阳转动的类似动物行为的特性。选项C(向日葵通过对光的反应表现出类似动物的行为)概括了文章主旨。故选C项。
D
Human beings are social creatures. We build bonds, cultivate friendships, and nurture family ties in hopes of finding love, support, and understanding. Yet, many of us discover that it is sometimes easier to confide in a stranger than in someone close to us. Why would we share our fears with a therapist, a fellow traveler on a train, or even an anonymous voice on the Internet rather than with our spouse, sibling, or best friend?
When you know you won’t see the person again, you’re a little too comfortable. The absence of attachment, coupled with the fact that there are hardly any negative outcomes, leads to a sense of relative safety, encouraging emotional expression. In contrast, social connections built over time come with assumptions, judgments, and expectations, which can hinder individuals from fully expressing themselves. When we need comfort, we’re cautious that those close to us might not offer the unconditional support we’re looking for. So, we pour our heart out to someone else altogether.
Strangers offer the unique advantage of providing fresh perspectives and objective viewpoints, breaking negative circular thinking. Moreover, they can be outspoken in their takes because they don’t have to worry about how we might feel about their responses. In the digital age, online communities and anonymous forums have become modern spaces for emotional disclosure. Digital strangers combine two crucial factors: anonymity and shared experience. You might be more willing to talk about your anxiety with an anonymous forum dedicated to mental health than with your sibling who doesn’t understand it.
Strangers offer neutrality, lack of judgment, and anonymity — qualities that sometimes make them better listeners than friends or family. Sometimes we choose not to open our hearts to those close to us, not because we don’t trust them, but because we fear burdening them or altering the relationship.
Strangers have no history to shade their judgment. Their distance lets confessions be received without the filters of habit or role. Sometimes, to be truly heard, we must first step outside the orbit of those we love, entrusting our hearts to the unknown, and in doing so, rediscover the vitality of being truly seen.
32.What is the main reason people feel safer confiding in strangers?
A.Strangers are usually more empathetic.
B.Strangers with similar problems are easier to find.
C.Strangers bring no lasting consequences or judgment.
D.Strangers have more life experience to offer good advice.
33.Why might close relationships prevent honest communication?
A.They lack deep emotional connection.
B.They are not built on a foundation of trust.
C.They involve established habitual perception.
D.They require too much time and energy to maintain.
34.What benefit do strangers bring according to paragraph 3?
A.Direct feedback. B.Timely availability.
C.Agreed opinions. D.Professional guidance.
35.Which is the most suitable title for the text?
A.Why Strangers Often Become Our Trusted Confidants
B.The Importance of Family Ties and Lifelong Friendships
C.The Dangers of Sharing Personal Feelings with Strangers
D.How Online Communities Replace Traditional Social Bonds
【答案】32.C 33.C 34.A 35.A
根据第二段“When you know you won’t see the person again, you’re a little too comfortable. The absence of attachment, coupled with the fact that there are hardly any negative outcomes, leads to a sense of relative safety, encouraging emotional expression. (当你知道不会再见到那个人时,你会感到比较自在。没有情感依附,再加上几乎不会有什么负面结果,这带来一种相对的安全感,鼓励人们表达情感。)”可知,人们觉得向陌生人倾诉更安全是因为陌生人不会带来持久的后果或评判。故选C项。
33.推理判断题。根据第二段“In contrast, social connections built over time come with assumptions, judgments, and expectations, which can hinder individuals from fully expressing themselves. When we need comfort, we’re cautious that those close to us might not offer the unconditional support we’re looking for. (相比之下,随着时间的推移建立起来的社会关系伴随着假设、评判和期望,这会阻碍个人充分表达自己。当我们需要安慰时,我们会谨慎,因为我们亲近的人可能不会提供我们想要的无条件支持。)”以及最后一段“Strangers have no history to shade their judgment. Their distance lets confessions be received without the filters of habit or role. (陌生人没有过往经历来影响他们的判断。他们的距离使得倾诉不会被习惯或角色的滤镜所过滤。) ”可推断,亲密关系中存在既定的习惯性认知,这可能阻碍真诚的沟通。故选C项。

Moreover, they can be outspoken in their takes because they don’t have to worry about how we might feel about their responses. (陌生人具有提供全新视角和客观观点的独特优势,能打破消极的循环思维。此外,他们可以直言不讳,因为他们不必担心我们会对他们的回应有何感受。)”可知,陌生人能给出直接的反馈。故选A项。
故选A项。
第二节(共5小题;每小题2. 5分, 满分12. 5分)
阅读下面短文, 从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
In today’s world, we’re constantly surrounded by information and digital interruptions. 36 Especially for students, real learning is about turning knowledge into practical understanding through regular, focused practice.
Start with a simple commitment to yourself. Each morning, as sunlight fills your room, make a conscious choice: “Today, I will give my studies the attention they deserve.” 37 Establish a consistent schedule, design a dedicated study corner free from interruptions, and clear away potential distractions. Such daily practice builds focus, turning your commitment into a natural part of your routine.
How well you learn depends greatly on how well you focus. When you fully engage with a subject—whether working through a math problem or analysing a story—you activate deeper thinking. Such kind of concentration speeds up learning. 38
39 Used wisely, it can be a powerful learning tool. Online platforms can make difficult concepts clearer through interactive courses and organised content. If you’re uncomfortable speaking up in class, these tools offer other ways for you to get help and learn at your own pace. Still, we need to be honest about technology’s double nature. That’s why learning to use technology purposefully—as a tool rather than a toy—has become an essential skill.
In this age of information overload, your ability to control your attention gives you a real advantage. By building strong study habits and using technology wisely, you’re not just preparing for tests. 40 Every time you choose to focus, you’re building mental strength that will support you in all your future efforts.
A.Avoiding tech makes studying harder.
B.Then transform this intention into action.
C.Technology doesn’t have to be the enemy of focus.
D.Divided attention won’t necessarily slow students’ learning.
E.It also makes studying more satisfying, creating a positive cycle.
F.The ability to concentrate deeply has become more valuable than ever.
G.You’re also developing skills that will help you succeed long after graduation.

39.由下文“Used wisely, it can be a powerful learning tool.(如果使用得当,它可以成为一个强大的学习工具。)”和“Still, we need to be honest about technology’s double nature.(不过,我们需要正视科技的双重性。)”可知,空格处需点明“科技并非专注的对立面”。C项“Technology doesn’t have to be the enemy of focus.(科技不一定是专注的敌人。)”符合语境,“Technology”对应下文的“it”,“doesn’t have to be the enemy of focus”为下文“科技是学习工具”的观点做铺垫,逻辑清晰。故选C项。
40.由上文“By building strong study habits and using technology wisely, you’re not just preparing for tests.(通过养成良好的学习习惯和明智地使用科技,你不仅仅是在为考试做准备。)”可知,空格处需用“not just...also...”的结构,说明“这些做法的长远意义”。G项“You’re also developing skills that will help you succeed long after graduation.(你也在培养那些能在毕业后长期帮助你取得成功的技能。)”符合语境,“also”与上文“not just”构成递进关系,“skills that will help you succeed long after graduation”拓展了学习习惯和科技运用的价值,衔接紧密。故选G项。

Dear Ben,
I’m writing to invite you to team up for the poster design contest. We’re a perfect match for this! You know a lot about Western festivals like Christmas and Halloween, which will definitely add authentic details and match the theme “Global Festivals”. And I’m familiar with Chinese festivals such as the Spring Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival, plus I’m good at drawing.
For the initial work, you can collect stories and symbols of Western festivals, while I’ll gather materials about Chinese ones and draft the poster layout. Also, I believe you will spot all of the grammatical and spelling mistakes. Let’s create an amazing work together!
Looking forward to your reply.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
There is a farm not far from the coastline. It belongs to a man called Tom. Tom couldn’t do everything by himself on the farm. Thus, he needed to hire one man to help him run the farm. However, no one worked on his farm for long. Why? Because the work was too tiring. Since the farm is near the sea, there are often storms from the sea that strike his farm. When a storm comes, Tom and the man he hired have to get up quickly and try to reduce the losses caused by the storm. Therefore, no one liked working there. Tom had to look for people to work for him all the time.
One day, a man called Henry read the poster that Tom had put up and then came to his farm.
“Sir, I can work for you,” said Henry.
Tom looked at Henry. This young man was neither strong nor tall.
“Are you sure?” asked Tom.
“Yes, sir. I can do the work well. But you must pay me twice what you paid others before,” said that young man.
Tom was surprised. He didn’t really believe such a man could do the work well. But it was really hard for him to find someone else to work for him. At last, he decided to give Henry a try. However, before hiring him, he said, “Can you really be a good helper? The work on the farm is hard and tiring. And there are often storms.”
Henry smiled and said, “Don’t worry. I can be a good helper. You’ll see. And storms won’t be a problem. They won’t even disturb our sleep. We can sleep very well even on stormy nights.”
And then Henry stayed on the farm. To Tom’s joy, Henry worked hard and did his work well. It was obvious that he hadn’t lied.
However, one night, there was a big storm. Tom was woken up by the strong wind. He was worried that the storm would cause great losses for his farm. And he saw his helper nowhere.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式作答。
Tom thought Henry must still be sleeping.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Tom thought he had hired the wrong man.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【参考范文】
Tom thought Henry must still be sleeping. So anxious was he that he knocked at the door of Henry’s room violently. To Tom’s astonishment, Henry was still lying in his bed. It was extremely evident that Henry didn’t realize how serious the situation was. Filled with rage, Tom shouted, “Get up! There is a big storm. We must work right now.” Calm and peaceful, Henry responded, “Sir, have you forgotten I told you that storms wouldn’t disturb our sleep? Why not just go back to sleep?” Hearing the words, a wide disappointment took hold of Tom.
Tom thought he had hired the wrong man. Feeling helpless, he rushed out to work on his own. Nevertheless, no sooner had he gone outside than an unexpected scene came into his sight. All the roofs covered and all his chicken, horses and cows settled. Tom was seized by a strong sense of relief, tears streaming down his cheeks. It was Henry that did all the work well in advance before the storm came. He realized he had hired the best man.

habits,it estimates the amount of greenhouse gases that you produce each year.
Why Use It?
The main purpose of this tool is to raise awareness about how daily actions impact the planet. It shows the
hidden effects of things we do every day, helping people understand their personal contribution to climate change.
This awareness is an essential first step toward adopting a more eco-friendly lifestyle. In addition, the calculator
offers personalized and practical tips to reduce your emissions ()-many of which can also help you save

Jason Haney is a construction worker from Indiana. When he began his current job as foreman on a site
opposite a children's hospital, this awesome dad and hobby artist had a brilliant idea.
区
Haney noticed that many of the sick kids at the Memorial Children's Hospital in South Bend could not go
outside, and his construction site was the only view from their hospital rooms. So together with his teenage
daughter,Haney built a 2.5 meter tall plywood (cut out of Waldo from the famous Wheres Waldo?books.
Every day,the workers hide Waldo in a different spot on the construction site, giving the children a new
challenge. As soon as Haney finds out that the kids have found Waldo, the cutout gets moved to a new secret
hiding spot and the game begins again.
Heidi Prescott,a spokeswoman for Beacon Health System, which runs the hospital, said the project began
one winter when the workers put up an inflatable snowman for the children. The kids loved the idea
and from there it quickly developed into the waldo cutout.
"It didn't take long to catch on,the kids whether they are in the rooms or in a play area, they look across as

Young sunflowers turn and swing every day.New findings add to evidence that the plants are animal-like.
:
Harmer,a professor in the University of California at Davis,Department of Plant Biology, carried out a
series of experiments on sunflowers in the field,in pots outdoors and in indoor growth chambers.
试题第5页(共12页)

学科网·学易金卷览树蕊限家
By staking plants so that they could not move,Harmer showed that he could destroy their ability to track
the sun.He also noticed that sunflowers prevented from moving were not as tough and leafy as those that were
free to move. When plants were moved indoor with a settled overhead light, they continued to swing back and
forth for a few days.
The indoor plants did start tracking the"sun"again when the apparent source of lighting was moved across
the room. The plants could reliably track the movement and return at night when the artificial day was close to a
24-hour cycle, but not when it was closer to 30 hours.
When sunflowers track the sun,the east sides of their stems grew more rapidly than the west sides. At night,
the west sides grew faster as the stem swung the other way.The team identified a number of genes that were
expressed at higher levels on the sun-ward side of the plant during the day or on the other side at night.A plant
growth-regulating hormone,called auxin,appears to be a key driver.
The"dance"to the sun cycle obviously slows when the sunflower matures and its flowers open up.At that
point, the plants stop moving during the day and settle down facing the sun in the east.
"Bees like warm flowers."Harmer said, adding that the bees are cold-blooded,so landing on a warm flower
saves them energy and perhaps feels really good.
"The morning warmth changes the flowers in a way to make them more appealing to insects, perhaps
causing them to release more attractive scents earlier in the day."he said,"We're currently testing this idea."
28.What does the underlined word"staking"probably mean in Paragraph 3?
A.Tracking.
B.Fastening
C.Growing.
D.Searching.
29.What is the result of sunflowers being stopped from moving?
A.They won't grow well.
B.They will grow faster than usual.
C.They won't swing back though set free.

Human beings are social creatures. We build bonds, cultivate friendships, and nurture family ties in hopes
of finding love, support, and understanding.Yet,many of us discover that it is sometimes easier to confide in a
stranger than in someone close to us.Why would we share our fears with a therapist,a fellow traveler on a train,
or even an anonymous voice on the Internet rather than with our spouse, sibling,or best friend?
When you know you won't see the person again, you're a little too comfortable. The absence of attachment,
coupled with the fact that there are hardly any negative outcomes, leads to a sense of relative safety, encouraging
emotional expression. In contrast, social connections built over time come with assumptions, judgments, and
expectations, which can hinder individuals from fully expressing themselves. When we need comfort,we're
cautious that those close to us might not offer the unconditional support we're looking for. So,we pour our heart
out to someone else altogether.
Strangers offer the unique advantage of providing fresh perspectives and objective viewpoints, breaking
negative circular thinking. Moreover, they can be outspoken in their takes because they don't have to worry about
how we might feel about their responses. In the digital age, online communities and anonymous forums have
become modern spaces for emotional disclosure.Digital strangers combine two crucial factors:anonymity and
shared experience. You might be more willing to talk about your anxiety with an anonymous forum dedicated to
mental health than with your sibling who doesn't understand it.
Strangers offer neutrality, lack of judgment, and anonymity-qualities that sometimes make them better
listeners than friends or family.Sometimes we choose not to open our hearts to those close to us,not because we
don't trust them, but because we fear burdening them or altering the relationship.
Strangers have no history to shade their judgment.Their distance lets confessions be received without the
filters of habit or role.Sometimes,to be truly heard,we must first step outside the orbit of those we love.
entrusting our hearts to the unknown, and in doing so,rediscover the vitality of being truly seen.
32.What is the main reason people feel safer confiding in strangers?
A.Strangers are usually more empathetic
B.Strangers with similar problems are easier to find.
C.Strangers bring no lasting consequences or judgment.

A.They lack deep emotional connection
B.They are not built on a foundation of trust.

D.They require too much time and energy to maintain.
34.What benefit do strangers bring according to paragraph 3?

In today's world,we're constantly surrounded by information and digital interruptions.
36
Especially for students, real learning is about turning knowledge into practical understanding through regular,
focused practice.
Start with a simple commitment to yourself. Each morning,as sunlight fills your room, make a conscious
choice:"Today,I will give my studies the attention they deserve."37 Establish a consistent schedule,
世
design a dedicated study comner free from interruptions, and clear away potential distractions.Such daily practice
builds focus, turning your commitment into a natural part of your routine.
How well you learn depends greatly on how well you focus. When you fully engage with a
subjectwhether working through a math problem or analysing a story-you activate deeper thinking.Such kind
of concentration speeds up learning.38
39 Used wisely,it can be a powerful learning tool.Online platforms can make difficult concepts
clearer through interactive courses and organised content.Ifyou're uncomfortable speaking up in class, these tools
offer other ways for you to get help and learn at your own pace.Still,we need to be honest about technology's
double nature. That's why learning to use technology purposefully-as a tool rather than a toy-has become an
essential skill.

Dear Ben,
I’m writing to invite you to team up for the poster design contest.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua

Carbon Footprint calculator: Know Your Impact
A Carbon Footprint calculator is an online tool designed mainly to help individuals and families measure their impact on the environment. By entering simple information about your energy use, daily travel, and waste habits, it estimates the amount of greenhouse gases that you produce each year.
Why Use It?
The main purpose of this tool is to raise awareness about how daily actions impact the planet. It shows the hidden effects of things we do every day, helping people understand their personal contribution to climate change. This awareness is an essential first step toward adopting a more eco-friendly lifestyle. In addition, the calculator offers personalized and practical tips to reduce your emissions (排放) — many of which can also help you save money.
How It Works?
The calculator uses science and data that experts agree on. You type in your information, and it does the math for you. The system is designed to be simple and user-friendly, making it easy for anyone to use.
How to Start?
Getting started is straightforward. You only need basic information about your household, such as your average electricity and natural gas consumption, transportation methods, and waste disposal (处理) habits. To give you a clearer idea of common emission values, here is a table showing average yearly emissions per person (in lbs CO₂):
Category
Source
Emissions (lbs CO₂)
House
Electricity
3,500
Natural Gas
2,700
Transport
One Car
10,800

C.Complicated calculations. D.Community comparisons.
23.What are the total emissions for a two-person household with one car?

House
Electricity
3,500
Natural Gas
2,700
Transport
One Car
10,800
