As a Young man, I ve always been imagining moving to los Angeles one day and putting my whole heart into music. Of course, at the time, this seems like a very distant hope, but thanks to my fans, supporters and wife, i'm here today. First, I released three twelve song records, which slowly gained attention around my hometown in northern england and some nearby regions like scotland and ireland. And now my latest project, which was just a single song, caught the world's attention. For that, i'd say IT only happened because I refused to give up through the usin downs of my career. I did IT all for the love of music. So being recognized for this award means a lot to me, to all the Young musicians out there. You can do IT too. Plus to all the fans and anyone enjoying my music, i've done this for you. This award is for all of us. May many more great things come in the future. Now put your hands together for our host, bob barker men, with the next award. Honestly, I can't believe my dream has come true. (原创)On Sunday, a group of thieves used a truck with a ladder on it to get into the Louvre museum in Paris. They then broke into display cases and stole several important items from the French crown jewels. So far, no one has been arrested.
The museum had the wrong kind of visitors. Around 9:30 in the morning, soon after the museum opened, thieves drove up to the building in a truck with a ladder on it. Two of the thieves used the ladder to climb to a second-floor balcony. There, they used an electric tool to break a window, and climbed into the museum.
The break-in set off alarms, but it also allowed the thieves into a huge, fancy room called the Gallery of Apollo. That’s where the Louvre holds a collection of French crown jewels – jewels that once belonged to the French royal family.
The museum had five people working in the area where the theft happened. The two thieves threatened the guards, who focused on making sure other museum visitors were safe.
The thieves broke the glass of two display cases and grabbed several of the crown jewels. These included a sapphire tiara (a piece of jewelry shaped like a small crown) with a necklace and an earring that went with it. They also took an emerald necklace, along with the earrings that went with it, as well as a second tiara that had belonged to Empress Eugénie.
In about seven minutes, the thieves climbed back out of the museum, where two people were waiting for them with motor scooters. All of the thieves got away.
In their hurry to escape, the thieves dropped a crown with over 1,300 diamonds that had belonged to Empress Eugénie.
The police are still looking for the thieves, but so far, no one has been arrested. The police believe that the thieves were very skilled and had done similar crimes before. Experts say that police will have to work quickly, since the thieves are likely to break up the jewels into smaller pieces to make them easier to move and sell.
The theft is a big loss for France. The jewels were a symbol of France’s history and culture.
24.Which of the following tools are not the one that the thieves used?
A.An electric tool. B.A ladder. C.Motor scooters D.Hammer
25.What can we know about the incident according to the passage?
A.The thieves have been caught. B.The stolen jewels have been broken up into pieces.
C.A diamond crown was left when they escaped. D.The stolen jewels have been sold by the thieves.
26. Where is this text probably taken from?
A. A textbook. B. An exam paper. C. A course plan. D. news website.

Around the world, farmland is increasingly overlapping with elephant habitats, often resulting in dangerous interactions as elephants roam over people’s crops. But in Kenya, after decades of investigation, inspired by local knowledge of elephants’ dislike of beehives, researchers have come up with a simple but ingenious solution to discourage elephants: strings of beehive fences. These buzzing (嗡嗡响的) barriers are offering a gentle but effective way of reducing fights between farmers and elephants.
The human-elephant conflict is a growing issue in several areas. In Kenya, where the population and demand for resources is growing, human-inhabited areas are increasingly overlapping with elephants’ ranges. Combined with the recovery of some elephant populations, this is leading to greater chance of conflicts between humans and these elephants. “Expansion of agricultural land, logging, urbanization, and getting smaller of elephant habitats are forcing elephants to make their way to human settlements in search of food and water,” says Greta Francesca Iori, an Ethiopian-Italian advisor on elephant conservation.
To prevent these conflicts, scientists and locals have tested a variety of solutions to prevent elephants, from electric fences, watchtowers to noise-makers, but using bees to scare away elephants has emerged as a particularly promising and efficient tool. In the early 2000s, ecologist Fritz Vollrath and Iain Douglas-Hamilton heard a folk story about how trees in certain areas were not damaged by elephants because they had beehives in them. Inspired by the tale, they began working and confirmed that elephants avoid wild beehives and even make a series of sounds and warnings to others to stay away.
Fritz Vollrath and Iain Douglas-Hamilton designed beehive fences. The fence goes all around a farm, with hives placed every 10 m between two posts. Attracted by natural attractants such as beeswax and lemongrass oil, African honeybees naturally multiply the beehives. Besides protecting crops, the fences produce honey for extra income and free farmers—often the front-line defenders—from risky nighttime guarding. And they are now spreading across the world, from Mozambique to Thailand.
28.What does the underlined word “ingenious” in paragraph 1 mean?
A.Clever. B.Excusable. C.Uncertain. D.Challenging.

Three scientists made groundbreaking discoveries on the working mechanism of the immune system (免疫系统). They identified “regulatory T cells,” which function as the immune system’s security guards, preventing immune cells from attacking the body’s own tissues and causing severe autoimmune diseases.
The immune system’s primary role is to distinguish foreign microbes (细菌) from the body’s own cells and then attack them. However, microbes can develop similarities to human cells. If this pretence succeeds, it can lead to a form of biological “friendly fire,” where the immune system mistakenly attacks the body’s own cells.
It was long believed that the immune system was mainly protected by T cells that can recognize and kill microbes. However, some puzzling autoimmune reactions pointed to the existence of another, more complex regulator. Immunologist Shimon is among the scientists who conducted further research. In 1995, he discovered in mice that there is a particular group of immune cells, which he named “regulatory T cells,” working as the body’s security guards that stop immune cells from attacking self-tissues.
Meanwhile in the early 2000s, bio-technologists Brunkow and Ramsdell investigated why a specific type of mouse was particularly sensitive to autoimmune diseases. Their experiments took many years. While mapping a mouse’s genome (基因组) today takes only days, back then it was like looking for a needle in a huge pile of straw. They finally found the source of trouble was a variation of the gene named Foxp3, and further discovered that a similar error in a human’s gene causes IPEX syndrome, a serious autoimmune disease.
Afterwards, Shimon linked their research to his own, proving that Foxp3 aids in the creation and the operation of regulatory T cells, ensuring that the immune system is strong enough to fight off microbes and at the same time controlled enough not to injure the body.
Their foundational discoveries have paved the way for potential new treatments for autoimmune conditions, as well as more effective cancer treatments and reduced complications after organ transplants.
32.What is the result of “friendly fire”?
A.Killing of foreign microbes. B.Wrong attack on human cells.
C.Immune cells’ development. D.Microbes’ successful disguise.
33.Why did Shimon conduct the mice research?
A.To win an award. B.To solve a puzzle.
C.To treat a disease. D.To defend a belief.
34.What’s the purpose of mentioning “a needle in a huge pile of straw” in paragraph 4?
A.To introduce the long history of medical science.
B.To emphasize the important role of the lab mice.
C.To stress the difficulty of doing the experiments.
D.To show the rareness of an autoimmune disease.
35.What is the root reason of autoimmune diseases according to the discoveries?
A.An error happens to the Foxp3 gene.
B.Regulatory T cells are distinguished.
C.The immune system is under attack.
D.Microbes force into the human body.

第二节(共5小题;每小题2. 5分, 满分12. 5分)
阅读下面短文, 从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
IQ scores like Einstein’s 160 or Madonna’s 140 grab attention, but EQ (Emotional Intelligence), MQ (Moral Intelligence), and BQ (Body Intelligence) are far more critical for success. A high IQ is necessary but not enough. For example, people prefer doing business with those they like and trust, even with less favorable terms. 36
Emotional Intelligence
EQ centers on recognizing and regulating emotions — both your own and others’, using them appropriately in situations, and building strong relationships. 37 This practice sharpens self-awareness of how thoughts influence feelings. Stress can be a huge killer of emotional intelligence, so you also need to develop healthy coping techniques that can effectively and quickly reduce stress.
Moral Intelligence
MQ builds on EQ, focusing on responsibility, sympathy, and forgiveness. It grows on keeping commitments, staying honest, and treating others with respect. To improve it, replace excuses with responsibility for your actions. 38 Show genuine sympathy for others’ struggles, as empathy promotes connection. Equally important is forgiveness — showing tolerance of other people’s shortcomings.
Body Intelligence
BQ reflects how well you understand, value, and care for your body. Though it may seem unrelated to work, it absolutely affects your work because it largely determines your feelings, state of mind, and energy level. 39 Choosing energy-giving foods over tiring ones, ensuring sufficient rest, making time for exercise, and even small steps like monitoring weight can dramatically benefit the way you perform at work.
40 Someone with these qualities can outperform a highly educated person lacking them. IQ benefits you alone, but EQ, MQ, and BQ uplift those around you, unlocking greater success and professional respect.
A.This can build others’ trust in you.
B.This leads to repeated mistakes in your act.
C.Without it, even daily tasks can feel unmanageable.
D.Developing it means noticing daily signs and acting on them.
E.Formal education matters less than developed EQ, MQ, and BQ.
F.To improve it, start by tracking your inner dialogue through journaling.
G.Thus, investing in EQ, MQ, and BQ matters more than just fixing on IQ.
【答案】36.G 37.F 38.A 39.D 40.E

1.简介物品;
2.你的理由。

【参考范文】
参考范文一:
Hello, everyone! If I could travel back to ancient times and bring one modern item, I’d bring a solar-powered flashlight. It is a lighting device that uses solar energy to charge its batteries. When exposed to sunlight, the solar panel will convert the light energy into electrical energy, which is then stored in the flashlight’s batteries.
In ancient times, lighting was often limited to torches, candles, or oil lamps, which were inconvenient and carried the risk of fire. A solar-powered flashlight would provide a clean and long-lasting source of light, reducing the reliance on flammable materials. Besides, it would enable ancient people to engage in a wider variety of activities, such as traveling at night or working in dark places.
Just imagine how amazed people would be to see such a useful device!
参考范文二:
Hello, everyone! If allowed to bring one modern item to ancient times, I would choose the tiny infection-fighting medicine — small in size yet powerful in impact.
In times when minor wounds often led to deaths due to poor medical care, this portable medicine could save lives by preventing deadly infections caused by battle injuries or common illnesses. Additionally, it would inspire deeper medical exploration. Once the basic production methods are shared, people might advance their understanding of disease prevention, potentially reshaping health practices throughout history.
In short, antibiotics represents hope and progress. They not only address immediate survival needs but also plant early seeds for scientific curiosity that could blossom into groundbreaking discoveries. Thank you!

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
When David signed up for Ms. Sandra’s “Endangered Traditions” class at Willow High, he didn’t expect this class to be about saving history. Ms. Sandra, one of the few remaining masters of su filindeu, a handmade Italian pasta (意大利面), explained in the first class that this skill had been practiced for over 300 years and was the rarest of 350 pasta varieties worldwide. She emphasized, “Fewer than ten people in the world still master this skill. If we don’t act, the art will disappear.”
The students fell silent, realizing the importance of what they were learning. Then, with flour-dusted hands, Ms. Sandra shifted the mood. “Now, let me show you its magic.” The students leaned forward as she started the incredible transformation. She rolled the dough (面团) into a thick rope and then stretched it into 256 perfect strands (线). The classroom was filled with admiration as the teacher’s hands moved gracefully.
For weeks, David and his classmates threw themselves into learning the skill of making su filindeu with Ms. Sandra’s help, but it didn’t come easily. The dough kept breaking or sticking together. Sometimes, they couldn’t stretch more than 16 strands. Still, they refused to quit, helping and encouraging each other as they improved little by little.
One afternoon, Ms. Sandra entered the classroom with heavy steps. She sighed, “The school board thinks our su filindeu class isn’t practical. They’ve decided to cancel it next term unless we can prove its value.” She added, “It’s true that machines can mass-produce pasta in minutes, but if we only value what’s fast and easy, we lose centuries of knowledge.”
A wave of disappointment swept through the classroom. After a moment of silence, David stood up. “What if we let more people know about it? How about an exhibition?” he suggested. The class lit up with excitement. Inspired by their reaction, David immediately volunteered to organize the exhibition. Ms. Sandra watched, proud and hopeful. Perhaps, she thought, they really could work some magic.

David and his classmates quickly got to work. They spent days practicing the skill, determined to perfect it for the exhibition. David, who was in charge of organizing, contacted local media and invited community members. He knew that if they could show the beauty and history of su filindeu, people would appreciate it. On the day of the exhibition, the students demonstrated the process, explaining its significance. Many visitors were amazed by the skill, realizing that traditions like this should not be lost.
The day after the exhibition, Ms. Sandra entered the classroom with a smile. She announced that the school board had decided to keep the class after seeing the positive response from the exhibition. “You’ve shown everyone the value of preserving traditions,” she said proudly. David and his classmates cheered, feeling a sense of accomplishment. They knew that their hard work had made a difference and that they had played a part in saving a piece of history.

The human-elephant conflict is a growing issue in several areas. In Kenya, where the population and

Combined with the recovery of some elephant populations, this is leading to greater chance of conflicts between
humans and these elephants."Expansion of agricultural land, logging, urbanization, and getting smaller of
elephant habitats are forcing elephants to make their way to human settlements in search of food and water,"says
Greta Francesca lori,an Ethiopian-Italian advisor on elephant conservation.
To prevent these conflicts, scientists and locals have tested a variety of solutions to prevent elephants, from
electric fences, watchtowers to noise-makers,but using bees to scare away elephants has emerged as a particularly
promising and efficient tool.In the early 2000s,ecologist Fritz Vollrath and Iain Douglas-Hamilton heard a folk
story about how trees in certain areas were not damaged by elephants because they had beehives in them.Inspired
by the tale, they began working and confirmed that elephants avoid wild beehives and even make a series of
sounds and warnings to others to stay away.
Fritz Vollrath and lain Douglas-Hamilton designed beehive fences. The fence goes all around a farm, with
hives placed every 10 m between two posts.Attracted by natural attractants such as beeswax and lemongrass oil,
African honeybees naturally multiply the beehives.Besides protecting crops, the fences produce honey for extra

Three scientists made groundbreaking discoveries on the working mechanism of the immune system
)They identified "regulatory T cells,"which function as the immune system's security guards, preventing
immune cells from attacking the body's own tissues and causing severe autoimmune diseases.
The immune system's primary role is to distinguish foreign microbes()from the body's own cells and
then attack them. However, microbes can develop similarities to human cells. If this pretence succeeds,it can lead
to a form of biological"friendly fire,"where the immune system mistakenly attacks the body's own cells.
It was long believed that the immune system was mainly protected by T cells that can recognize and kill
microbes. However, some puzzling autoimmune reactions pointed to the existence of another, more complex
regulator.Immunologist Shimon is among the scientists who conducted further research. In 1995,he discovered in
mice that there is a particular group of immune cells, which he named "regulatory T cells,"working as the body's
security guards that stop immune cells from attacking self-tissues.
Meanwhile in the early 2000s,bio-technologists Brunkow and Ramsdell investigated why a specific type of
mouse was particularly sensitive to autoimmune diseases.Their experiments took many years. While mapping a
mouse's genome (today takes only days, back then it was like looking for a needle in a huge pile of straw.
They finally found the source of trouble was a variation of the gene named Foxp3,and further discovered that a
similar error in a human's gene causes IPEX syndrome,a serious autoimmune disease.
Afterwards,Shimon linked their research to his own, proving that Foxp3 aids in the creation and the
operation of regulatory T cells, ensuring that the immune system is strong enough to fight off microbes and at the

29.What is the main reason for elephants’ entry into human settlements?
A.Farmers attract them with crops. B.Climate change reduces their habitats.
C.Beehives frighten them away from forests. D.Human activities destroy their homes.
30.How did researchers develop the solution of using beehives?
A.After studying elephants’ eating habits. B.Through scientific proof of a folk story.
C.By copying Thailand’s elephant defense. D.Using high-tech sound warning systems.
31.What is the author’s attitude to the beehive-fence solution?
A.Skeptical. B.Tolerant. C.Dismissive. D.Approving.
D

注意:
1. 续写词数应为150个左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
