But to study requires a right way, or you waste either the time or the money. The following are the ways of studying. The best time for reading is morning, because in the morning, the air is fresh and the mind is clear. For that reason, we can get good results. In studying we must have patience. If we have not known a text well, we must read it again. We should not read the next one till we have learned the first one. When we are studying, we must put our hearts into the book, or we can get nothing from the book while we are reading. We must always ask “whys”. If it is not well understood, write it down and ask our teachers or our parents, or friends. In any possible way, we must know it completely and what we’ve learned can be used well and made better. Though there are many ways for studying, yet the above mentioned will be quite enough if we can keep them in heart and do so. 24. The passage tells us ________. A. the importance of reading B. to pay attention to the ways of studying C. to read in the morning D. to have patience in studying 25. How many ways of studying are mentioned in this passage? A Three. B. Four. C. Five. D. Six. 26. If we can’t put our hearts into the book when we read, it is ________. A. easy to understand it well B. better to get something from it C. impossible for us to get something from it D. possible to learn something from it 27. In studying we must always ask “whys” in order to ________. A. understand the book well B. write down the questions C. do with the new words D. get some questions to ask our teachers 【答案】24. B 25. B 26. C 27. 根据第一段“But to study requires a right way, or you waste either the time or the money. The following are the ways of studying.”(但是学习需要一个正确的方法,否则你要么浪费时间,要么浪费金钱。 以及最后一段“Though there are many ways for studying, yet the above mentioned will be quite enough if we can keep them in heart and do so.”(虽然学习的方法有很多,但如果我们能把它们记在心里,那么上面提到的方法就足够了。) 根据第二段“The best time for reading is morning”(最好的读书时间是在早上)、第三段“In studying we must have patience.”(在学习中必须有耐心。)、第四段“When we are studying, we must put our hearts into the book”(我们在学习时必须全身心投入到书本中)以及第五段“We must always ask “whys”.”(我们必须要问原因。) 根据第四段“When we are studying, we must put our hearts into the book, or we can get nothing from the book while we are reading.”(当我们学习的时候,我们必须全身心投入到书本中,否则当我们阅读时我们什么也学不到。) 根据倒数第二段“We must always ask “whys”. If it is not well understood, write it down and ask our teachers or our parents, or friends. In any possible way, we must know it completely and what we’ve learned can be used well and made better.”(我们必须经常问“为什么”。 故选A项。 C I am a child of mixed cultures (dad is Arab, mom is American), and I have grown up with cultural differences all my life. This has made me pay much attention to what people do in different cultures around the world. Cross-cultural understanding is really necessary if you want to get along with people from other places. It is very common, and not considered rude to ask a person’s age in Japan when you meet them for the first time. Therefore, it’s important for people to know your age range so as not to offend (冒犯) you by showing you less respect than you should get. Gestures and signals are always better to use only in your home country where you understand what they mean. In Turkey, for example, allowing your thumb (拇指) to stick out between your fist (拳头) and second fingers in a fist is extremely rude. Also, don’t make an “OK” gesture, unless you mean to call someone a fool. Don’t touch anyone’s head in Malaysia, especially babies. Pointing is also considered rude in Malaysia, where directions are usually given with an open hand. Giving gifts in China can get you into trouble. Certain gifts in China can cause great offence, such as giving flowers, which is only done at funerals (葬礼). Giving a clock is seen as bad luck, since the words “giving a clock” sound just like the words “attending a funeral”. 28. Why do the Japanese like to ask others’ ages? A. To express their respect. B. To satisfy their curiosity. C. To avoid offending others. D. To appear more friendly. 29. What may an “OK” gesture to a man in Turkey lead to? A. Some help. B. An agreement. C. A smile. D. A fight. 30. What should you avoid doing in Malaysia according to the text? A. Sending cut flowers to others. B. Opening your hands in the street. C. Putting your hand on a child’s head. D. Buying a clock for your friend. 31. Which of the following can be the best title for this text? A. Cultural Differences Around the World B. The Meaning of Culture in the Author’s Eyes C. Communication Is Important in Modern Society D. Living Abroad Helps to Learn Different Cultures 【答案】28. C 29. D 30. C 31. 根据第二段“Therefore, it’s important for people to know your age range so as not to offend (冒犯) you by showing you less respect than you should get.(因此,人们了解你的年龄范围是很重要的,这样就不会因为表现得对你不够尊重而冒犯到你)”可知,日本人询问年龄是为了避免冒犯他人。 根据第三段“Also, don’t make an “OK” gesture, unless you mean to call someone a fool.(另外,切勿做出“OK”的手势,除非你是有意要嘲笑某人是个傻瓜)”可知,在土耳其做“OK”手势会被视为辱骂对方,可能引发冲突。 根据第一段“This has made me pay much attention to what people do in different cultures around the world. Cross-cultural understanding is really necessary if you want to get along with people from other places.(这使我更加关注世界各地不同文化中人们的行为举止。如果想要与来自其他地方的人友好相处,那么跨文化理解确实是必不可少的)”以及文章围绕不同国家(日本、土耳其、马来西亚、中国)的文化差异(年龄询问、手势、礼仪、礼物等)展开,因此最佳标题是“世界各地的文化差异”。故选A。 D A recent study in the “Journal of Travel Research” looked into how traveling can be good for our mind. Researchers asked 500 adults about their feelings before and after taking a holiday trip of at least one week. The results were clear. More than 85% of those who joined the study said they felt much less stressed after their trip. They were more relaxed and worried less. Also, 78% of them were in a better mood and said they felt happier. “I felt free and my mind became clear,” one person shared. The study also showed that the way you travel makes a difference. “Active travel,” like hiking or walking around a city, made people feel more achieved and energetic than “passive travel,” such as lying on a beach. For example, a four-day walk in the mountains, though tiring, often gave people a strong sense of success. Another important point was “joining in local life.” Travelers who tried local dishes, learned some local words, or lived with local families said they had more meaningful trips and saw life differently. What’s interesting is that these good feelings didn’t disappear quickly. A follow-up survey a month later found that 70% of people still felt less stressed and more positive. The researchers said that travel is not just for fun — it really helps our mental health. It lets people take a break from daily life, deal with new situations, and learn new things, all of which help them grow and feel happier. They suggest that people should plan and take holidays regularly to relax their body and mind. 32. What is the main finding of the study mentioned in the passage? A. Travel is very expensive. B. People prefer beach holidays. C. Travel has no long-term effects. D. Travel has psychological benefits. 33. According to the study, which type of travel is likely to bring a greater sense of achievement? A. A relaxing trip on a ship. B. A hiking tour in the mountains. C. A shopping experience in a mall. D. Staying at home and watching TV. 34. What does the data “70%” in paragraph 4 suggest? A. Travel is only good for young people. B. Many people still feel stressed after travel. C. The benefits of travel can last for some time. D. People with pressure do not enjoy their trips. 35. What do the researchers recommend based on their study? A. People should take regular holidays. B. People should avoid traveling to save money. C. People should make a workable plan before traveling. D. Long trips are not necessary when considering the plan. D 33. B 34. C 35. 根据第二段“The results were clear. More than 85% of those who joined the study said they felt much less stressed after their trip. They were more relaxed and worried less. Also, 78% of them were in a better mood and said they felt happier.(结果很明确。参与这项研究的大多数人表示,在旅行结束后,他们感到的压力明显减轻了。他们更加放松,忧虑也减少了。此外,78%的人情绪更好,并表示自己更快乐了)”可知,文中所提及的研究的主要发现是旅行具有心理上的益处。故选D。 【33题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“For example, a four-day walk in the mountains, though tiring, often gave people a strong sense of success.(例如,四天的山区徒步虽然很累,但往往会让人们产生强烈的成就感)”可知,在山间进行的徒步旅行更有可能让人产生成就感。 根据最后一段“What’s interesting is that these good feelings didn’t disappear quickly. A follow-up survey a month later found that 70% of people still felt less stressed and more positive.(有趣的是,这些良好的情绪并没有迅速消退。一个月后进行的后续调查发现,70%的人仍然感觉压力减轻了,心情也更加积极了)”可知,第4段中的“70%”这一数据表明了旅行带来的益处能够持续一段时间。故选C。 【35题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段“They suggest that people should plan and take holidays regularly to relax their body and mind.(他们建议人们应定期规划并安排假期,以让身心得到放松)”可知,研究人员建议人们应该定期休假。故选A。 Family meetings are a good way to improve communication among all family members. To hold a successful family meeting, you need to avoid the following common mistakes. Giving up too soon. ____36____. It may take some time for everyone to grow comfortable with family meetings. But if you hold them regularly (定期) and try to make them better, your meetings can become helpful to everyone in the family. ____37____. Don’t use your meetings to single out one person for creating a problem and don’t lecture (说教) the kids about the way they act. You might take a problem-solving approach by saying, “The house has been pretty messy lately. What can we do about that?” Letting kids have too much power. While you want to ask for the kids’ opinions, make it clear that they don’t have equal say in important family matters, like whether you’re going to move. ____38____. Then they know you are interested in hearing their thoughts on the matters. Going too far off the topic. Your kids may begin to get off the topic and if you don’t bring the conversation back to the task at hand, you may feel the meeting is pointless. ____39____ Getting into arguments (争吵). ____40____. Family meetings are a great time to introduce socially proper ways to deal with disagreements. If the kids start to argue noisily or someone crosses the line, stop them at once. A. Turning a meeting into a lecture B. They always get the better of an argument C. If your first meeting doesn’t go well, don’t give up D. Lecturing your children about making too much noise E. In this case, step in and tell them to get to the main topic F. Even so, let them know the adults are open to their opinions G. At times, a family meeting ends up with an endless argument 【答案】36. C 37. A 38. F 39. E 40. 【36题详解】 由上文“Giving up too soon. (放弃得太早)”可知,本空要说跟“不要放弃”有关的话题,由下文“It may take some time for everyone to grow comfortable with family meetings. But if you hold them regularly (定期) and try to make them better, your meetings can become helpful to everyone in the family. (每个人可能都需要一段时间才能逐渐适应家庭会议。但是如果你定期举行并努力改进,你的家庭会议就能对家里的每个人都有帮助)”可知,即使第一次家庭会议不成功,也不要放弃,故C选项“If your first meeting doesn’t go well, don’t give up (如果你的第一次会议进行得不顺利,不要放弃)”能承上启下,符合题意。故选C。 【37题详解】 由下文“Don’t use your meetings to single out one person for creating a problem and don’t lecture (说教) the kids about the way they act. (不要用会议来单独指出某一个人制造了问题,也不要就孩子们的行为方式对他们进行说教)”可知,本空要说跟“不要说教”有关的话题,A选项“Turning a meeting into a lecture (把会议变成说教)”能引出下文,符合题意。故选A。 【38题详解】 由上文“While you want to ask for the kids’ opinions, make it clear that they don’t have equal say in important family matters, like whether you’re going to move. (虽然你想征求孩子们的意见,但要明确他们在家庭重要事务上,比如是否搬家,没有平等发言权)”和下文“Then they know you are interested in hearing their thoughts on the matters. (那么他们就会知道你很想听听他们对这些事情的想法)”可知,虽然孩子们在家庭重要事务上没有平等发言权,大人们还是要倾听孩子们的意见,本空应对此进行解释。F选项“Even so, let them know the adults are open to their opinions (即便如此,也要让他们知道大人们是愿意倾听他们的意见的)”能承上启下,符合题意。故选F。 39题详解】 由上文“Your kids may begin to get off the topic and if you don’t bring the conversation back to the task at hand, you may feel the meeting is pointless. (你的孩子们可能会开始偏离主题,如果你不把谈话带回当前的任务,你可能会觉得这次会议毫无意义)”可知,孩子们可能会偏离主题,故本空要说跟“把谈话带回当前的任务”有关的话题,E选项“In this case, step in and tell them to get to the main topic (在这种情况下,介入并告诉他们回到主题)”能承接上文,符合题意。故选E。 【40题详解】 由上文“Getting into arguments (争吵)”可知,本空要说跟“争吵”有关的话题,由下文“Family meetings are a great time to introduce socially proper ways to deal with disagreements. If the kids start to argue noisily or someone crosses the line, stop them at once. (家庭会议是介绍社会上处理分歧的恰当方式的好时机。如果孩子们吵吵嚷嚷,或者有人越界了,马上制止他们。)”可知,有时候家庭会议最终会变成争吵,故G选项“At times, a family meeting ends up with an endless argument (有时,家庭会议最终会以无休止的争吵告终)”能承上启下,符合题意。 Last October holiday, my parents and I finally took our trip to Peru. Second, don’t hesitate to communicate your feelings with teachers, parents or close friends. Sharing worries often makes them feel more manageable. Additionally, consider joining a club or sports team that interests you. This can help you make new friends with similar interests while providing a healthy outlet for stress. I was a volunteer fire aide in New York, and was studying at Mission College. As a firefighter, you should always think of other people and try to help other people. One night after going to class, I was walking home and decided to stop off at a fast food restaurant. I lived in an apartment alone near my college so most of the time I used to get a take-out, I got my food and started to head home when a homeless man walked to me. He looked 20 or so. He was very dirty and obviously very hungry. He asked me for some change to buy a little food. As I was pulling some change out, I had an idea. I decided to see if he wanted to eat a real dinner, so I asked him to follow me back into the restaurant to order food together. For someone who had been on the fringes(边缘) of society it seemed like he was very surprised at my generosity(慷慨). But to me, it was what any ”human being“ should do or at least offer. He was afraid to go into the restaurant because of shame. But I insisted. When he finally followed me and walked into the restaurant, the people behind the counter refused to let him in, but I told them that I was buying him dinner and he had a right to be there. After some arguments, they finally let him in and he sat down at the table. It seemed like he was relieved a bit to be sitting at a table, I asked him to order whatever he wanted. He only ordered a hamburg, so I had to encourage him to order whatever he wanted. Finally he ordered three hamburgers and we began to talk. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ He stood up and looked at me, open-mouthed. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Finally he ordered three hamburgers and we began to talk. I asked why he was on the street. He was silent, with his head dropping. After a while, he said that his parents died from an accident when he was twelve. He had been homeless since then. There was no job he could do to support himself, He had no place to live in and had to hang out most of the time. Hearing his words, I was heartbroken. I asked him if he minded sharing an apartment with me. He stood up and looked at me, open-mouthed. I smiled, repeating my words. Suddenly, he grasped my hands tightly, with tears rolling down his face. He couldn’t say a word but I knew what he wanted to say, I told him he could find a job near my apartment and start a new life! A bright smile appeared on his face, ”I couldn’t thank you more. You light up my life!" he said heartily. I felt very happy. After enjoying our food, we headed for the door as well as our new life. 词汇激活 行为类 ①养活自己:support himself / support himself / feed himself ②闲逛:hang out/ wander ③点亮:light up / shine / shed light on 情绪类 ①心碎的:heartbroken / heart-rending ②坚定地:heartily / with determination/ firmly 【点睛】 [高分句型1]. A. Three. B. Four. C. Five. D. Six. 26. If we can’t put our hearts into the book when we read, it is ________. A. easy to understand it well B. better to get something from it C. impossible for us to get something from it D. possible to learn something from it 27. In studying we must always ask “whys” in order to ________. A. understand the book well B. write down the questions C. do with the new words D. get some questions to ask our teachers C I am a child of mixed cultures (dad is Arab, mom is American), and I have grown up with cultural differences all my life. Living Abroad Helps to Learn Different Cultures D A recent study in the “Journal of Travel Research” looked into how traveling can be good for our mind. A People should take regular holidays. B. People should avoid traveling to save money. C. People should make a workable plan before traveling. D. Long trips are not necessary when considering the plan. 第二节(共5小题:每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读短文,从短文后的选项中选出填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Family meetings are a good way to improve communication among all family members. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Finally he ordered three hamburgers and we began to talk. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ He stood up and looked at me, open-mouthed. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
