Donglan Bronze Drum Museum is China’s first private bronze drum museum. It is in Donglan, Guangxi province and its owner is Chen Yaoling.
Chen was a traditional Chinese medicine doctor and treated local farmers himself. One day in 1974, he treated a woman. The woman’s family offered him the gift of a cow to show thanks, but Chen refused, saying it was too expensive. Finally, the family gave him an old bronze drum. That was to be the first piece in Chen’s bronze drum collection. Since then, he has collected over 100 bronze drums.
Now, Chen has the largest collection of bronze drums belonging to the Zhuang people on his own. The history of bronze drums in Guangxi dates back 2,000 years. At present, there are a little more than 2,000 bronze drums of the Zhuang people in museums around the world, but Donglan has the largest collection.
The bronze drum has been handed down from generation (代) to generation, but few people know its history. Chen has tried to let more people know the stories of each bronze drum he collected. Ten years ago, he borrowed about 5 million yuan to build a museum to popularize the Zhuang people’s cultural treasure. The museum now shows over 100 bronze drums in different halls according to what people used them for in the past.
Unlike other museums, visitors to Chen’s museum can have a zero-distance contact with the bronze drums. It will arouse their interest and encourage more people to protect the drums.

D. Zero-distance Contact with Bronze Drums

①Does every dinner with your parents seem to turn into an argument (争吵)? Have your once warm conversations become cold? Heated arguments and cold silences are common between teenagers and their parents.
②Teenagers’ physical changes may cause such family problems. You may feel worried that you are developing at a different speed to your friends, shooting up in height, or getting left far behind. You might worry about your changing voice and weight problems. When it all gets too much, your parents are often the first you want to get angry with.
③It can be a big headache to balance your developing mental (精神的) needs too. You hate to depend on your parents, but have a continued need for their love and support. You feel ready to make decisions on your own. Unluckily, your parents do not always agree, and that makes you feel unhappy. On the other hand, when you are trying to control your feelings, you wish they could be more caring and patient—sometimes they forget that growing up is a hard time. It can be difficult when your parents treat you like a child but expect you to act like an adult. All of this can cause a breakdown in your relationship.
④________ The key to keeping the peace is regular (有规律的) and honest communication. When you disagree with your parents, take a minute to calm down and try to understand the situation from their point of view. Perhaps they have experienced something similar and do not want you to go through the same pain. Explain your actions and feelings calmly, listen carefully, and make them free from worries. Through this kind of healthy discussion, you will learn when to back down and when to ask your parents to relax their control.
⑤Just remember that it is common to fight with stress and that you and your parents can work together to improve your relationship. The good news is that this stormy time will not last. Everything will turn out all right in the end, and the changes and challenges of your teenage years will prepare you for your future.
34. The writer asked two questions in paragraph 1 to ________.
A. introduce a subject B. give examples
C. solve a problem D. tell stories
35. What does “that” in paragraph 3 refer to?
A. Parents’ love. B. Parents’ dislike.
C. Parents’ disagreement. D. Parents’ support.
36. Which of the following can be the best to fill in ________ in paragraph 4?
A. So it’s difficult to get along well with your parents.
B. However, you can take action to improve the situation.
C. But how could this happen?
D. But when can this come to an end?
37. Which of the following is the structure of the passage?
A. ①/②③④/⑤ B. ①/②③/④⑤ C. ①/②③/④/⑤ D. ①/②/③④/⑤
38. The purpose of the passage is mainly ________.
A. to encourage teenagers to get through a difficult time.
B. to describe family problems between teenagers and parents.
C. to introduce some ways to solve the family problems.
D. to explain possible reasons for a difficult time.
D
There’s no cape for a superhero in real life, but everyone can be “an ‘everyday hero’” who solves small problems around them. Picture this: Students pass their schoolwork through different hands, from their group leader to the class representative (课代表), and finally to the teacher. It might not sound too difficult, but sometimes it can go wrong and take a lot of time.
To deal with this problem, Zhang Xirui from Shenzhen Gezhi Academy in Guangdong came up with a useful tool—a smart homework collection robot. This won him first prize in the 20th Guangdong Provincial Children’s Invention Awards.
The robot uses radio frequency identification (RFID, 射频识别) technology—a reader and a special tag (标签) that can share information without touching each other. This way, it can help find and know what it is looking for. Each student’s notebook has a special RFID tag with their name and the subject. Students only need to place their notebooks on the robot, and the machine “sees” the notebook, reads its tag and takes it out of the name list. “Teachers can check who hasn’t turned in homework by connecting their phones with the robot through WiFi,” the 13-year-old explained to Shenzhen Satellite TV.
The robot is the second-generation model made by Zhang. Now, he’s planning to develop a third-generation and hopes to use ultra-high-frequency (超高频) radio technology to read lots of RFID tags from far away. That means if you stick a special tag on your notebook, the robot can read the information from a thick stack (堆) of notebooks at once. Zhang believes this is the key to how artificial intelligence (人工智能) can make life easier for us.
Zhang dreams of becoming a scientist when he grows up. “I have tried making model airplanes and other scientific and creative projects. Inventing has brought me joy and happiness,” he said.
39. Why did Zhang Xirui invent the smart homework collection robot?
A. To help students pass their schoolwork through different hands easily.
B. To deal with the problem that students often forget to hand in their homework.
C. To make the life of students and teachers easier and more convenient.
D. To encourage students to do more scientific and creative projects.
40. What is the function (作用) of the RFID technology in the robot?
A. It can help find and know what it is looking for.
B. It can read the tag on each student’s notebook easily.
C. It can send information to the teacher’s phone through WiFi.
D. It can help the teacher check who hasn’t turned in homework.
41. What does Zhang Xirui think is the key to AI?
A. The use of RFID technology in daily life.
B. The development of more scientific and creative projects.
C. The application (应用) of ultra-high-frequency radio technology in robots.
D. The ability to bring joy and happiness to people’s lives through invention and creation.
42. What is Zhang Xirui planning to do next?
A. Develop a third-generation robot.
B. Use ultra-high-frequency radio technology to read lots of RFID tags around us.
C. Stick a special tag on his notebook.
D. Use artificial intelligence to make life not easier for us.
43. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. Zhang Xirui designed a smart homework collection robot.
B. The robot uses radio frequency identification technology.
C. The robot can read the information from a thick stack of notebooks at once.
D. Zhang Xirui dreams of becoming a scientist when he grows up.

Ten years ago, he borrowed about 5 million yuan to build a museum to popularize the Zhuang people’s cultural treasure. The museum now shows over 100 bronze drums in different halls according to what people used them for in the past.

B. However, you can take action to improve the situation.
C. But how could this happen?

37. Which of the following is the structure of the passage?

【导语】本文主要探讨了青少年与父母之间产生矛盾的原因,重点介绍了解决这些矛盾的具体方法,旨在帮助青少年改善亲子关系,顺利度过成长的烦恼期。

推理判断题。根据“Does every dinner with your parents seem to turn into an argument (争吵)? Have your once warm conversations become cold? Heated arguments and cold silences are common between teenagers and their parents.”可知,作者通过这两个问题引出了文章即将讨论的主题——青少年与父母之间的矛盾。故选A。
【35题详解】
词句猜测题。根据“Unluckily, your parents do not always agree...makes you feel unhappy.”

根据最后一段“The good news is that this stormy time will not last. Everything will turn out all right in the end, and the changes and challenges of your teenage years will prepare you for your future.”及全文可知,这些充满希望和鼓励的话语表明,作者的意图不仅仅是说明问题,更是为了帮助青少年建立信心,积极应对这一成长阶段。因此,A选项最全面、最准确地概括了文章的深层目的。故选A。

D To encourage students to do more scientific and creative projects.

Born in 1977 in a family of engineers, Xie Xiaohui went to university in 1995. After graduation, he joined the army and was sent to Yong’an Fire Station in Sanming City, Fujian. He went on thousands of rescue (营救)tasks and saved hundreds of people from fires with his team. Whenever the alarm bell went off, he was always the first to get out, jump onto the fire-fighting truck, and rush to the fire.
On July 26, 2004, the fire station suddenly sounded an alarm bell at 10:15. A fire broke out in a factory. During this rescue, Xie Xiaohui got 75 percent burns all over his body. The local hospital did its best to save Xie’ life. To avoid infection (感染), some good skin (皮肤) was needed to put onto his body. There was not much good skin on his body, so the doctors had to “rob Peter to pay Paul”.
After going through hundreds of operations in the following three years, he joined a cycling club in order to get well from the operations. Later, he set up a cycling team to spread fire safety knowledge by cycling around. His team trained nearly 5,500 people within three years as they tried to raise fire safety awareness (意识) among people.

【答案】
How to Face Trouble in Life
Life is like a journey, and we often meet troubles. I once had trouble learning English. I was afraid to speak in class because I thought my pronunciation was poor. I felt really shy and upset at that time. However, I decided to face it bravely. I asked my English teacher for help and she encouraged me a lot. I also kept practicing speaking English aloud every morning. Finally, I made great progress.
From this experience, I learned that difficulties are not terrible. As long as we don’t give up and believe in ourselves, we can solve them.
