Dear Jeff,
I’m terribly sorry to hear that you are addicted to short videos in order to reduce your pressure. But it won’t work and will even make the matter worse. Here are a few instructive suggestions you may follow.
First of all, if I were you, I would do my best to limit the time spent on short videos each day, so I could spend more time on other meaningful activities and hobbies. What’s more, another step would be finding your life purpose in reality, from enjoying face-to-face conversations with your family and friends to taking a walk in the sunshine.
I do hope my advice will be of some help to you. Looking forward to your good news.
Yours,
Li Hua

根据第二段中的“At our school’s learning center, I led a program that ranged from simple art projects and sports games to hands - on science experiments. We painted colorful pictures, kicked soccer balls across the field, and watched vinegar and baking soda fizz in clear cups. Every activity turned our classroom into a place for discovery and fun.(在我们学校的学习中心,我带领开展了一个项目,内容从简单的艺术项目、体育游戏到亲自动手的科学实验。我们画色彩斑斓的画,在操场上踢足球,还观察醋和小苏打在透明杯子里冒泡。每一项活动都把我们的教室变成了一个充满发现和乐趣的地方)”可知,该项目的特点是举办各种有趣的活动。故选C项。
【25题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段中的“One memorable class involved making bubbles (肥皂泡). The children ran after the floating bubbles, shouting with delight, and I felt like a child again, caught up in their wonder. That simple game showed me how small joys can turn a normal day into something special.(一堂令人难忘的课是制作肥皂泡。孩子们追逐着漂浮的肥皂泡,高兴地大喊大叫,我也仿佛又变成了一个孩子,沉浸在他们的惊奇之中。这个简单的游戏让我明白,小小的快乐能把平凡的一天变得特别)”可知,作者提到制作肥皂泡的课是为了突出教孩子们时的快乐。故选C项。
【26题详解】
词句猜测题。根据第四段中的“Other students noticed how happy our classroom sounded. They began to join in, and soon the entire learning center felt warmer and more welcoming.(其他学生注意到我们教室充满了欢乐的氛围。他们开始加入进来,很快整个学习中心都感觉更温暖、更受欢迎了)”可知,“rippled”所在句表示课程的积极影响在学校传播开来,所以“rippled”意思是“传播”,与“Spread”意思相近。故选B项。

After that, researchers asked students to describe their state of mind. For example, when given a statement such as “I start most days thinking that I will have a good day”, they could choose to what level they agreed with it on a scale (等级).
根据第三段“And they expected girls would score higher on negative indicators (消极指标) of mental health, as earlier research had found that they tended to have higher levels of anxiety (焦虑) compared to boys.(他们预计女孩在心理健康的消极指标上得分会更高,因为早期的研究发现,与男孩相比,女孩往往有更高程度的焦虑)”可知,研究人员发现女孩本身心理健康消极指标得分更高、焦虑程度更高,过多屏幕时间会进一步影响心理健康,对她们危害更大。
根据第四段“What was noteworthy, researchers say, is that even among students who took part in after-school activities, 46% still went beyond the recommended screen time of two hours. At the same time, 67% of students who didn’t take part in after-school activities also had more than two hours of screen time. Together, this suggests high screen time among teenagers generally.(研究人员说,值得注意的是,即使在参加课外活动的学生中,46%的人仍然超过了建议的两小时屏幕使用时间。与此同时,67%没有参加课外活动的学生每天的屏幕使用时间也超过了两小时。总之,这表明青少年普遍存在屏幕使用时间过长的情况)”可知,作者通过列举“参加课外活动的学生中46%屏幕时间超标”和“未参加课外活动的学生中67%屏幕时间超标”这两个数据,是为了说明青少年中屏幕使用时间过长的现象很普遍。故选B项。
【31题详解】
细节理解题。根据第五段““The findings suggest that after-school activities are valuable for the happy growing of teenagers,” the study said. “While past studies have proved the importance of after-school activities for social and academic (学业的) development, the present study shows their importance for good mental health results.” (该研究称:“研究结果表明,课外活动对青少年的快乐成长很有价值。虽然过去的研究已经证明了课外活动对社交和学业发展的重要性,但目前的研究表明,课外活动对良好的心理健康结果也很重要”)”可知,这项新研究认为课外活动重要,是因为它有助于改善青少年的心理健康。故选A项。

根据第二段“Inside is the spinal cord, which carries important information between the head and the lower part of the body. This information moves around as bursts of electricity traveling between the brain and the other parts of the body. When the spinal cord is hurt, this pathway gets damaged and they can’t move their legs.(里面是脊髓,它在头部和身体下部之间传递重要信息。这些信息作为电流在大脑和身体其他部位之间传播。当脊髓受伤时,这条通路就会受损,他们的腿就不能动了。)”以及第三段“The researchers made sure the electrodes were lined up with nerves that control the leg muscles. The scientists controlled the implants from a tablet computer.(研究人员确保电极与控制腿部肌肉的神经对齐。科学家们通过平板电脑控制植入物。)”可知,脊髓受伤时,神经流受损导致他们的腿不能动,所以科学家植入特殊装置的预期用途是弥合受伤造成的神经间隙。故选D项。
【34题详解】
主旨大意题。根据第四段“Instead, the tablet tells the implant to send the walking messages. The researchers used computers to generate patterns of movement, like taking a step. The patient then uses the tablet to choose the pattern and the muscles move in the chosen way.(相反,平板电脑让植入物发送行走信息。研究人员使用计算机生成运动模式,比如迈出一步。然后,患者使用平板电脑选择模式,肌肉以选定的方式运动。)”可知,本段主要介绍了该设备如何在患者身上工作。故选B项。
【35题详解】
主旨大意题。根据第一段“Now, scientists have given three paralyzed men the ability to walk again, thanks to an implanted device.(现在,由于植入了一种设备,科学家们已经让三名瘫痪男子恢复了行走的能力。)”以及最后一段“But the scientists are hopeful that in the future, this sort of technology will allow many paralyzed people to begin to walk again in just hours.(但科学家们希望,在未来,这种技术将允许许多瘫痪的人在短短几个小时内重新开始行走。)”

Imagine a lively setting, full of laughter and curiosity. That was the scene and
sounds of my classroom as I guided young minds through different adventures
At our school's learning center,I led a program that ranged from simple art
projects and sports games to hands-on science experiments. We painted colorful
pictures, kicked soccer balls across the field, and watched vinegar and baking soda
fizz in clear cups.Every activity turned our classroom into a place for discovery and
fun.
I enjoyed spending time with the kids I was helping and learning alongside. That
was my favorite part about the program. One memorable class involved making
bubbles().The children ran after the floating bubbles, shouting with delight,
and I felt like a child again, caught up in their wonder. That simple game showed me

how small joys can turn a normal day into something special

became noisy. But as I spent more time with them,I learned patience, kindness, and

The energy and joy that filled the room not only impacted the children but left a

Teenagers who spend more time on after-school activities and less than two hours
of screen time after school are more mentally healthy, according to a study published
in the journal Preventive Medicine. The new study was carried out by researchers
from the University of British Columbia.
The study used information collected from more than 28,000 seventh-grade
Canadian students between 2014 and 2018.The students first answered questions
about their usage of screen time(屏幕设备使用时间)after school,,including how
much time they spent swiping their mobile phone, watching TV,Netflix,or something
else. Then, students reported how many days they had taken part in after-school
activities such as sports or arts programs. After that, researchers asked students to
describe their state ofmind. For example, when given a statement such as"I start most
days thinking that I will have agood day, they could choose to what level they agreed
with it on a scale(等级).
Some of the results were expected, researchers said in the study.Students with no
after-school activities usually had high levels of screen time, for example. And they
expected girls would score higher on negative indicators(消极指标)of mental health,
as earlier research had found that they tended to have higher levels of anxiety (
compared to boys.
What was noteworthy, researchers say,is that even among students who took part
in after-school activities,46%still went beyond the recommended screen time of two
hours. At the same time,67%of students who didn't take part in after-school activities
also had more than two hours of screen time.Together, this suggests high screen time
among teenagers generally.
"The findings suggest that after-school activities are valuable for the happy
growing ofteenagers,"the study said."While past studies have proved the importance
of after-school activities for social and academic (development, the present
study shows their importance for good mental health results."
28.What were the students asked to do after they reported time spent on after-school
activities?
A.Talk about their lifestyles.
B.Introduce their after-school activities.
C.Report their mental states on a scale.
D.Answer questions about screen time use.
29.What do the researchers find about teenage girls?
A.Higher levels of satisfaction fills their hearts.
B.They take more active part in after-school activities.
C.They have lower levels of anxiety
D.Too much screen time may be more harmful to them.
30.What does the author want to show by using the numbers in paragraph 4?
A.Earlier findings about screen time are wrong.
B.High screen time is common among teenagers.
C.No after-school activities mean no screen time.
D.Screens attract teenagers more than after-school activities do.
31.Why are after-school activities so important according to the new study?
A.They help to improve teenagers'mental health.
B.They are good for teenagers'physical health.
C They encourage teenagers'social development.
D.They allow teenagers to become better learners.

When someone damages their backbone, the injury can leave them paralyzed
)Now,scientists have given three paralyzed men the ability to walk again, thanks
to an implanted device(植入设备).
The human backbone,or spine, doesn't just help us stand up straight.Inside is
the spinal cord ()which carries important information between the head and the
lower part of the body. This information moves around as bursts of electricity traveling
between the brain and the other parts of the body. When the spinal cord is hurt, this
pathway gets damaged and they can't move their legs.
Now scientists in Switzerland have given three paralyzed men the ability to walk
again. To help them walk again the men had surgery ()A special device was
placed directly on the lower part oftheir spinal cord, below their injury. This"implant
contained sixteen electrodes ()which are small objects that electricity can pass
through. The researchers made sure the electrodes were lined up with nerves
that control the leg muscles. The scientists controlled the implants from a tablet
computer.
The patient's brains aren't sending"walking"messages to their legs.Instead,the
tablet tells the implant to send the walking messages. The researchers used computers
to generate patterns of movement, like taking a step. The patient then uses the tablet
to choose the pattern and the muscles move in the chosen way.Over time, the men
were able to walk using a special walker with buttons to control each leg
The solution isn't perfect. It's very expensive,it requires difficult surgery, and the
patients can't walk without the system. But the scientists are hopeful that in the future,
this sort of technology will allow many paralyzed people to begin to walk again in
just hours.
32.What's the main function of the spinal cord?
A.It serves as a message carrier.B.It helps people stand up straight
C.It takes control of the muscles.D.It produces signals for movements.
33.What is the implanted device expected to do?
A.Activate the damaged nerves.
B.Identify the position of the injury.
C.Test the degree of the damage.
D.Bridge the nerve gap made by the injury.
34.What is Paragraph 4 mainly about?
A.How the surgery is performed.
B.How the device works on patients.
C.How the patients walk without aid
D.How movement patterns are designed.
35.Which can be the best title of the text?
A.Damaged nerves recover after surgery.
B.Tablets are used in a medical treatment
C.Implant helps the paralyzed walk again.
D.Scientists made a discovery on backbones.
