In today’s highly competitive restaurant industry, catching people’s attention and leaving a lasting impression is important. With so many dining options available, it’s necessary to create visually (视觉上) impressive restaurant posters that will attract potential customers.
Clear and Engaging Headline (标题)
An interesting headline is the first opportunity to draw your potential customers’ attention. Keep it simple, short, interesting, and easy to read from a distance. Use expressive language that delivers the special experience your restaurant has to offer.
Mouthwatering Imagery
High-quality visuals are vital for any restaurant poster. Show your specials, fresh ingredients, or a beautifully arranged table setting to instantly encourage hunger and curiosity. Ensure that the images are well-lit and professionally produced to make the food appear appetizing.
Special Selling Points
Find your restaurant’s unique selling points and feature them on your poster. Do you offer farm-to-table freshness? Highlight it! Are you known for exceptional service? Make it a key point of the poster. Show what sets you apart from the competition and makes your restaurant a must-visit destination.
Social Media Engagement
Make people interact more on social media by adding your restaurant’s social media accounts and hashtags (标签) to the poster. Promote engagement by inviting customers to share their dining experiences, post food photos, or leave reviews. This not only creates a sense of community but also helps attract new customers.

Mollie, my “other mother”, is a woman full of energy and confidence. At eighty-four, she still walks fast, drives safely, and expresses her opinions directly. She can cook traditional dishes, evaluate antiques, organize meetings, and play bridge and even computer games. She keeps up with new discoveries and always says, “I keep going forward and never look back.”
But once, she did look back. In her seventies, she wanted to fulfill a dream she had carried for years: to have a bat mitzvah, a Jewish coming-of-age ceremony (仪式) usually held at thirteen. In her youth, such ceremonies were only for boys. At that age, she was already caring for her sick mother, working after school, and carrying heavy family responsibilities. Although she felt deeply connected to her ancestors’ faith, she never had the chance to study it properly.
When she reached adulthood, her life became busy with marriage and children. Though she supported the temple faithfully, she felt her spiritual voice was unheard. “If I weren’t too old, I’d love to be bat mitzvahed,” she often sighed. When she turned eighty, the thought became stronger. With encouragement from her family, she finally began Hebrew (a kind of language) lessons
The lessons were not easy. “I am the oldest one here,” she told us, often worrying she would never master Hebrew. Yet she kept going, attending every Tuesday night class, baking for her classmates, and listening to recordings while exercising or even sleeping. Though she struggled, we saw her pride grow as she learned more about her faith. We knew once Mollie made up her mind, she would succeed.
Two years later, the ceremony was held. Surrounded by family and friends, Mollie stepped onto the stage, both nervous and happy. When she completed her part in Hebrew, the hall filled with clapping. I realized then what she had truly taught me: to live your faith, you must be brave enough to make mistakes, try again, and finally succeed. Most of all, Mollie proved that it is never too late to follow your heart.
4. Why did Mollie fail to have a bat mitzvah in her youth?
A. She was not a traditionalist. B. She was fully occupied by her schoolwork.
C. Such ceremonies were only for boys then. D. Her family didn’t allow her to attend the ceremony.
5. How did Mollie prepare for Hebrew study?
A. By hiring a private teacher. B. By combining weekly classes with daily practice.
C. By reading a lot of related books. D. By asking others to help with her homework.
6. Which of the following best describes Mollie?
A. Determined and energetic. B. Sensitive and creative.
C. Humorous and confident. D. Conventional and knowledgeable.
7. What would be a suitable title for the text?
A. The Power of Family Support B. Tips on Learning Hebrew
C. A Late-Age Dream Achieved D. The History of the Bat Mitzvah
C 5. B 6. A 7. C
根据第二段“In her youth, such ceremonies were only for boys. (在她年轻时,这类仪式只面向男孩)”可知,Mollie年轻时没有举办bat mitzvah的原因是该仪式当时仅为男孩举办。故选C。
【5题详解】
细节理解题。根据第四段“Yet she kept going, attending every Tuesday night class, baking for her classmates, and listening to recordings while exercising or even sleeping. (但她坚持了下来,参加每周二晚的课程,为她的同学烘焙,在锻炼甚至睡觉时听录音)”可知,Mollie通过“每周二上晚课”“运动时甚至睡觉时听录音”等方式学习希伯来语,这些均属于在日常生活场景中融入学习的做法。故选B。
【6题详解】
推理判断题。根据第一段“Mollie, my “other mother”, is a woman full of energy and confidence. (Mollie,我“另一个妈妈”,是一个充满活力和自信的女人)”、第四段“Yet she kept going (但她坚持了下来)”和“We knew once Mollie made up her mind, she would succeed. (我们知道,一旦Mollie下定决心,她就会成功)”可知,Mollie 是充满活力且意志坚定的。故选A。

After a day of scuba diving (水肺潜水), Luis Antonio “Tono” Lloreda was tired when he heard the urgent news: a whale was caught in a net. Lloreda, 43, had freed smaller wildlife before, but this was his first marine animal of such size. The young humpback whale, four to five meters long, had a net around its fin and mouth. Lloreda removed the net while the mother whale waited nearby.
Lloreda is a member of Guardianes del Mar (Guardians of the Sea), an African-Colombian group from six coastal communities around Colombia’s Gulf of Tribuga, a biodiversity hot spot on the Pacific coast. The region, where rainforest meets the ocean, is a UNESCO biosphere reserve and a “hope spot” for its ecological (生态的) importance. The guardians dive to remove nets of plastics that endanger marine life.
With sponsorship from Ecomares and Conservation International, the guardians have trained in diving and removing nets from coral with safe techniques. Many also act as coral gardeners and reef surveyors, collecting data for communities and scientists. Three, including Lloreda, are trained to free marine animals. According to WWF, about 50,000 tons of fishing device are dropped in the oceans each year. In the Gulf of Tribug, three to four humpback whales are trapped annually.
To expand their impact, Guardianes del Mar works to train more divers but faces financial problems. “We used to send the nets to Buenaventura for recycling, but fuel costs are too high,” says Benjamin Gonzales, a senior guardian. With no roads, everything must be moved by boat or plane. Now, the nets are made into decorations to sell locally and abroad, while lead weights are recycled into diving tools.
The spirit of care between people and nature runs deep in Tribuga, home to about 7,000 people. African-Colombian communities here co-govern the region with Indigenous Ember. “Everyone fishes, so we can’t tell people to stop using nets,” says Camilo Morante, the youngest guardian. “The most important thing is that we raise consciousness (意识) locally so that we understand the consequences of our actions.”
8. Why does the author mention Lloreda’s experience?
A. To introduce the rescue work. B. To explain the risks of scuba diving.
C. To record the guardians’ daily routine. D. To recognize his achievement in scuba diving.
9. What makes the Gulf of Tribuga a “hope spot”?
A. Its cultural traditions. B. Its fishing industry. C. Its rare whale species. D. Its rich biodiversity.
10. How do the guardians solve the financial problems?
A. By reducing operation costs. B. By seeking help from communities.
C. By selling recycled products. D. By promoting the local tourism industry.
11. What does Camilo Morante emphasize as the fundamental solution?
A. Passing more fishing laws. B. Getting international financial support.
C. Stopping using fishing nets completely. D. Making the public fully aware of their impact.
A 9. D 10. C 11. D

根据第一段“After a day of scuba diving (水肺潜水), Luis Antonio “Tono” Lloreda was tired when he heard the urgent news: a whale was caught in a net. Lloreda, 43, had freed smaller wildlife before, but this was his first marine animal of such size. The young humpback whale, four to five meters long, had a net around its fin and mouth. Lloreda removed the net while the mother whale waited nearby.(经过一天的水肺潜水后,43岁的Luis Antonio “Tono” Lloreda已然疲惫,却突然接到紧急消息:一头鲸鱼被渔网缠住了。Lloreda此前曾救助过小型野生动物,但这是他首次面对如此体型的海洋生物。这头4至5米长的幼年座头鲸,鱼鳍和嘴部都被渔网缠绕。Lloreda在母鲸于附近等候的情况下,成功拆除了渔网。)”可知,本段讲述Lloreda解救被困座头鲸的经历,紧接着第二段引出“Guardianes del Mar(海洋守护者)”组织及其保护海洋生物的使命——“The guardians dive to remove nets of plastics that endanger marine life. (这些守护者潜水拆除危害海洋生物的塑料渔网。)”可知,作者提及Lloreda的经历是为了引出该组织的救援工作。故选A项。
根据第二段“Lloreda is a member of Guardianes del Mar (Guardians of the Sea), an African-Colombian group from six coastal communities around Colombia’s Gulf of Tribuga, a biodiversity hotspot on the Pacific coast. The region, where rainforest meets the ocean, is a UNESCO biosphere reserve and a “hope spot” for its ecological (生态的) importance. Imagine you’ve just shut a door on your finger. This sudden pain often causes a vocal (声音) response-maybe you cry out “ouch!” But do such sounds differ across cultures?
Humans are vocally expressive. Besides speaking, we also laugh, groan or cry-these are called nonlinguistic vocalizations. We also use interjections (感叹词) like “ouch” or “wow” to express emotions. These have been found in every human culture studied so far. However, scientists still know little about how these sounds vary across the world or why they might do so.
In our recent study, we focused on vowel (元音) sounds in expressions of pain, joy and dislike across more than 130 languages. We wanted to know if emotional sounds contain similar vowels across cultures. This could help understand the history of language.
Our main idea was that emotional sounds are not by chance — they help express meaning. For example, pain cries are often loud and harsh, made with a wide-open mouth, which tends to produce [æ]-like vowels (as in “cat”). Try saying “ski” with your mouth wide open — you’ll find it difficult. [i]-like vowels are more common when the mouth forms a smile.
Earlier studies show people often link [i] vowels with positive feelings. We guessed that [æ] vowels would appear more in pain sounds, [i] vowels in joy, and central vowels like [ə] in dislike. To validate this, we collected over 600 emotional interjections from 131 languages. We also gathered thousands of words from those languages to compare vowel use. In a second test, speakers of five languages made non-word sounds to show pain, joy and dislike. We measured their vowel use through acoustic (声学的) analysis.
Across languages, pain interjections had more [æ]-like vowels. Though joy and dislike interjections varied, nonlinguistic vocalizations showed clear patterns: [æ] for pain, [i] for joy, and [ə]-like vowels for dislike.
These results suggest that people often use similar sounds to express emotions, and pain may be expressed most universally. This supports the idea that some words may have developed from the sounds we naturally make.
12. What does the recent study focus on?
A. The use of vowels in emotional sounds. B. Why humans express emotions
C. How vowels develop globally. D. The reason for people using interjections.
13. What do researchers think of emotional sounds?
A. They vary from culture to culture. B. They need special pronunciation skills.
C. They carry specific meanings. D. They reflect language learning.
14. What does the underlined word “validate” in paragraph 5 probably mean?
A. Translate. B. Track. C. Categorize. D. Confirm.
15. What does the discovery imply about language?
A. Vowels develop independently across cultures. B. Some words may originate from natural sounds.
C. Emotional expressions shape language development. D. Emotional sounds consistently contain fixed meanings.
A 13. C 14. D 15. B
根据第三段“In our recent study, we focused on vowel (元音) sounds in expressions of pain, joy and dislike across more than 130 languages. (在最近的研究中,我们关注了130多种语言中表达疼痛、喜悦和厌恶的元音。)”可知,最近的研究聚焦于情感声音中的元音使用。故选A项。
根据第四段“Our main idea was that emotional sounds are not by chance — they help express meaning. (我们的主要观点是,情感声音不是偶然的,它们有助于表达意义。)”可知,研究人员认为情感声音承载着特定的意义。故选C项。
【14题详解】
词句猜测题。根据第五段“Earlier studies show people often link [i] vowels with positive feelings. We guessed that [æ] vowels would appear more in pain sounds, [i] vowels in joy, and central vowels like [ə] in dislike. To validate this, we collected over 600 emotional interjections from 131 languages. (早期研究表明,人们经常将[i]元音与积极的情感联系起来。我们猜测[æ]元音会更多地出现在疼痛的声音中,[i]元音出现在喜悦的声音中,而像[ə]这样的中央元音则出现在厌恶的声音中。为了____这一点,我们从131种语言中收集了600多个情感感叹词。)”可知,研究人员先提出猜测,然后通过收集语言样本进行验证,所以“validate”意思是“验证,确认”。A.
根据最后一段“These results suggest that people often use similar sounds to express emotions, and pain may be expressed most universally. This supports the idea that some words may have developed from the sounds we naturally make. (这些结果表明,人们经常使用相似的声音来表达情感,而疼痛可能是最普遍的表达方式。这支持了这样一种观点,即一些单词可能是从我们自然发出的声音中发展而来的。)”可知,这一发现暗示一些单词可能起源于自然发出的声音。故选B项。
第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。选项中有两项为多余选项。
To be funny is not just talent but a skill that can be learned. Many people believe humor is natural. Research, however, shows that funny people actually practice techniques. Being funny matters. ____16____ Yet most common advice on humor sounds vague (含糊的). Suggestions like “listen carefully” or “be surprising” leave people wondering how to use them in real life. Fortunately, researchers and comedians (喜剧演员) have provided practical strategies.
One of the easiest techniques is to give the opposite answer to yes/no questions. When people expect “yes”, a sudden “no” creates surprise and laughter. The magic is that the moment you give the opposite answer, you have surprised your audience, so they laugh. ____17____
The Rule of 3 is another useful method. ____18____ For example, “I love hot dogs, hamburgers, and handsome men.” The break in pattern catches attention and creates humor. Similarly, switching character roles in a story can also work. If the “serious” person suddenly acts silly, or the “weak” one becomes powerful, the change surprises the audience.
____19____ Jokes may fail if the punchline (妙语) is weak, but true experiences are relatable. That is why many comedians collect daily observations and later share them. If the story is not funny, it still has meaning; if it is funny, the effect is even stronger. In daily life, you can do the same: note down things that made you laugh and retell them naturally in conversation.
Finally, humor is also about attitude. When you are asked an awkward question, turning it into humor shows confidence. Even a simple word like “whatever” can shift the focus and make others laugh. ____20____ Anyone can become funnier through practice.
A. Then you can move on to your real story.
B. In short, humor is not a gift for only a few.
C. The real-life stories are often funnier than jokes.
D. It explains why they often make their jokes funny.
E. Practicing humor requires observing others’ mistakes carefully.
F. It builds a pattern with two normal items and ends with something unexpected.
G. It makes conversations easier, creates connection, and often reduces awkwardness.

故填was held。
故填who。

故填to cross。

故填for。

One possible version:
Dear Chris,
I’m writing to share the first aid knowledge competition I took part in last Friday. The competition consisted of both written and practical tests. I was a little nervous at first, but I kept calm and focused on what I had learned. The practical round was especially intense, where we had to act correctly and quickly in simulated emergencies. Thankfully, all the effort I had put in beforehand paid off.
This experience has truly deepened my understanding of first aid. Not only did I review essential life-saving techniques, but I also learned how to perform under pressure. More importantly, it made me realize that first aid isn’t just about knowledge but it’s also about confidence and quick decision-making.
I really wish you could have been here to see it!
Yours,
Li Hua

I first started wearing glasses at age five. They were thick, black-framed, and many friends said that I looked like Ralphie, a boy in the movie A Christmas Story, always wearing thick glasses. Sadly, they were right. Over the years, my nearsightedness worsened, and my lenses (镜片) became heavier. An obvious depression formed on the bridge of my nose from the weight. I often joked that if the sun shone just right, I could start forest fires.
In my twenties, I got my first pair of thinner lenses. Wearing them felt like wearing nothing at all. Later, polarized (偏光的) sunglasses made the world’s colors clearer than ever before. I thought I had finally seen life fully until my father went blind. Diagnosed (诊断) with macular degeneration, he ignored treatment advice and soon lost most of his vision. Once active, now he could only sit in his chair.
An eye exam showed a small spot of degeneration in my eyes as well. At first it seemed minor, but the next year it affected both eyes. Then came a cataract operation, which helped, but my vision problems were far from over. Just before retirement, I was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis, a disease that weakens muscles including those controlling the eyes. My eyelids became too tired to stay open, and unclear vision struck several times a day.
The final warning came at a neuro-ophthalmologist’s office. Covering my left eye, I read the chart-but a large black shadow blocked most of my vision. Overnight, I became legally blind in that eye. My fear of injections (注射) was greater than the fear of blindness, yet the only way to save my sight was through eye injections.
Both eyes needed treatment, and I would face four injections in total. My heart raced as I imagined the process. I felt a mix of fear, determination, and hope, knowing that these injections were my only chance to keep seeing the world I loved.
注意:1. 续写词数应为150个左右;
I made up my mind finally.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
I began to notice small improvements in my vision.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
One possible version:
I made up my mind finally. I would face the injections without letting fear control me. On the day of the first treatment my hands trembled, but I reminded myself that courage was not the absence of fear, but acting despite it. The doctor explained each step carefully, and the nurses offered gentle encouragement. As the needle approached my eye, I focused on my breathing, imagining the vibrant colors of a sunset I might still see. One by one, I endured all four injections, my determination carrying me through the hardest moments.
I began to notice small improvements in my vision. Shapes grew sharper, colors brighter, and shadows less threatening. With each subsequent improvement, my confidence grew alongside my eyesight. Simple joys, like reading a book or watching leaves dance in the wind, became celebrations of persistence and hope. I realized that my journey with vision problems had taught me patience, resilience, and the value of facing challenges head-on. Life, I understood, was about truly seeing the beauty in every moment rather than perfect sight.

Making an effective restaurant poster requires a combination of creativity, strategic messaging, and visual appeal. By including these elements, you can create attention-drawing posters that attract your customers, inspire them to visit your restaurant, and ultimately boost your business’s success.

At first, it seemed minor, but the next year it affected both eyes.
注意:1. 续写词数应为150个左右;
