Can anyone guess what season it is now? (Wait for students’ response) T: Perfect! It’s winter. As we know, there are four seasons around the world, and each one has its own unique charm. Now, Let’s dive into the beauty of Suzhou across all four seasons. Enjoy the video of four seasons of Suzhou. 通过欣赏苏州四季美景,创设情境,激发学生学习的乐趣。 主要目的是为引出所学内容做好情景教学的伏笔。         Step II: Be a good thinker         T: Q1:What’s the weather/climate like in Winter/Spring/Summer/Autumn? Q2: What activities can we do in Winter/Spring/Summer/Autumn? (The students offered detailed responses to the questions.) Joy of Winter! ---------A snow year, a good year. Weather: cold, snowy, foggy...... Activities: have a snowball fight, go skating, make a snowman... Hope of Spring! ---------Make a year’s plan in spring. 1. Enjoy the poem of ‘Happy Rain on a Spring Night” by Du Fu Weather: warm, windy, rainy...... 2. Enjoy the song of ‘Go up to hill’ Activities: go climbing, go boating, fly kites, do gardening Melody of Summer! ---------Let life be beautiful like summer flowers. 3. Enjoy the poem of ‘The Moon over the West River’ by Xin Qiji 4. Enjoy the sayings: 1)Little summer is chilly, big summer is hot. 2)The first autumn drought, halved, in the summer rain, as expensive as gold. Weather:hot, sunny, rainy...... Activities: rest under the shade, eat ice cream, go swimming...... Grains of Autumn! ---------Sow nothing, reap nothing. 5. Listen to the chief conductor’s arrival announcement upon arrival at the Suzhou Station. E.g. · In autumn, it's cool and cloudy. · People can see red maple leaves in Tianping Hill. · People can taste Yangcheng Lake Hairy Crabs. · It's the best time to go hiking and go for long walks. Work out the rule: T:How are the words in bold formed? We add-y to nouns like ‘snow, wind, rain, cloud’ to make adjectives snowy, windy, rainy and cloudy, but for nouns like “sun” and “fog”,we should double the last letter before adding -y. T: What does the suffix-y mean? The forecast covers the current weather, and outdoor activity advice. E.g. Hello, everyone. Welcome to the weather report. I’m ______. It is _______in _______. You must/can/ had better__________. Beijing windy Suzhou rainy Sanya sunny 指导学生描述四个城市的不同天气及生活,巩固和内化所学的构词法知识。         Step IV: Be a good speaker (Pair work)           1.  Listen to the dialogue between Amy and Simon, then fill in the blanks in the table below. Which season do you like best? 2. Make a dialogue. 组织学生通过对话梳理Amy 和Simon 各自最喜欢的季节和原因,提取归纳询问、描述评价喜欢的季节的核心语言表达,并结合自身实际和同伴交流自己喜爱的季节及缘由。   Step V:Be a good writer (Group work) T: Form groups of four. Write an essay titled My favourite Season ---it should be at least seven sentences long. 该活动环节,较之之前的练习,在难度上有明显的提升。这一设计通过课外拓展的针对性练习口语,强化巩固所学内容,达到学以致用的目的,并为后期的中考口语测做铺垫。 Step VI: Summary Summarize what has been learned in this class.
