B
Do you know villains in comic books? They harm others or break the law to get what they want. Another thing is that they often wear costumes in green and purple colors, and some even have green or purple skin. But why do they wear these colors? Let’s find out.
First, let’s look at culture and history. In Shakespeare’s play Othello, a character warns another about envy and calls it a “green-eyed monster”. This is where the saying “green with envy” comes from. However, even before this play, people connected the color green with negative (消极的) feelings. The ancient Greeks believed that when a person was sick, their skin might turn green because of too much bile (胆汁). Over time, green has come to stand for sickness, envy—feelings that are often found in villains.
But what about purple? The color purple is often connected with power. It is not a color that we see a lot in nature, and in ancient times, purple dye (染料) was very hard to make. This made it rare and expensive, so only the most powerful people could afford it. So, when a villain is shown wearing purple, it suggests they are powerful or think of themselves as powerful. It also shows that they want respect from others.
Now, let’s look at color theory (理论). We have three primary colors—red, yellow, and blue. If you mix any two primary colors, you get one of the three secondary colors—orange, purple or green. Most superheroes wear at least one primary color, and some have all three. If heroes wear bright primary colors, comic artists often use secondary colors like green and purple for villains. This way, even if you don’t know the story or the characters, you can quickly tell the heroes and villains just from their colors.
29. According to the colour theory, what colour should we use for Superman?
A. Red. B. Purple. C. Green. D. Orange.
30. What is the main idea of Paragraph 2?
A. How Shakespeare’s play Othello became popular.
B. Where the saying “green-eyed monster” comes from.
C. Why ancient Greeks thought people’s skin turned green when they were sick.
D. What the connection between green and negative feelings in history and culture is.
31. Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the passage?
A. Comic villains wear green or purple only to show they want to be powerful.
B. Purple became a symbol of power mainly because it appears often in nature.
C. Green and purple are secondary colors formed by mixing two primary colors.
D. Before Shakespeare’s Othello, people had no connection between the color green and negative feelings.
【答案】29. A 30. D 31. C
【解析】
【导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要探讨漫画中反派常穿绿色或紫色服装、拥有此类肤色的原因,从文化历史和色彩理论两方面进行分析。

【31题详解】
细节理解题。根据“If you mix any two primary colors, you get one of the three secondary colors—orange, purple or green.”可知,绿色和紫色是由两种原色混合而成的二次色。故选C。

I wanted to go and look at a place in the middle of the island that I had found when I was exploring. So we started and soon got to it, because the island was only three miles long and a quarter of a mile wide.
This place was a hill about forty feet high. We had a hard time getting to the top. The sides were so steep (陡峭的) and the trees were so thick. We walked and climbed around all over it, and found a good big hole in the rock. It was a good place to play our game. The hole was as big as two or three rooms, and Jim could stand up straight in it. It was cool there. Jim wanted to put our things there, but I said we didn’t want to be climbing up and down there all the time.
Jim said if we had the boat hidden in a good place and put all the things in the hole, we could rush there when anybody came to the island. They would never find us without dogs. Besides, he said that little birds had said it was going to rain. We didn’t want the things to get wet.
________ Then we found a place close by to hide the boat in, among the thick willows (柳树). We took some fish off the lines and set them again, and began to get ready for dinner.
There was a good place to build a fire in the hole. So we built a fire and cooked dinner. We spread the blankets inside, and ate our dinner. We put all the other things at the back of the hole.
Pretty soon it darkened and began to thunder. Directly it began to rain, and I never saw the wind blow so heavily. It was one of these regular summer storms. It would get so dark that it looked all blue-black outside. The rain poured so heavily that the trees looked unclear.
“Jim, this is nice,” I said. “I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else but here. Pass me another piece of fish and some hot bread.”
(Excerpt from The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn)

Have you ever heard people describe themselves as an “I” or an “E” person? This comes from a popular personality test called the MBTI which has been a hot topic online recently. ____36____
All the results have four letters that represent different types of personality. “I” and “E” are the first letters. ____37____ It’s common to think people are either one type or the other, but personality is not always that simple. For example, an “I” person can become quite outgoing and share their true thoughts and feelings when they are with close friends. I’m one of these kinds of people. When I stay with my friends, I talk with them to show I’m easygoing. But honestly, I like being alone and staying quiet.
____38____ It is mostly for fun. Everyone’s personality is different. Don’t let the test tell you who you are. I used to be very curious about my friends’ MBTI results. I would get upset if their results didn’t match the way I saw them.
I think everyone might have a “personality stamp”. For example, “P” people don’t like to make plans while “J” people are planners. My sister is a “P” person and she seldom plans. ____39____ “I thought you were a “P” person,” I said to her. “Why should I follow what my personality test tells me?” she answered. It was then that I realized that I’d taken the result too seriously.
The four letters cannot describe everything about a person. ____40____
A. Why not just accept your test and be yourself?
B. This kind of feeling can sometimes bring stress to people.
C. And no one should live according to what four letters tell you.
D. However, I think we shouldn’t be serious about the MBTI result.
E. “I” stands for introverted (内向) while “E” means extroverted (外向).
F. But one day, she was excitedly making a day-to-day travel plan for the holiday.
G. Many young people are using it to understand themselves and their friends better.

How important is music? When they are asked this question, students and parents usually answer that music is nice, but not very important. It is only a way of entertainment (娱乐), and they won’t choose music for education as their first consideration (考虑). This opinion is shortsighted. In my opinion, music education is necessary and important for all students.
Music tells us who we are. Music not only reflects (反映) the social environment it came from but also expresses people’s thinking and values. For example, just as Mozart music represents a lifestyle, rock music represents a lifestyle too. George Gershwin and other musicians brought the influence of jazz into their own music. It is clearly in an American style because it came from American musical traditions.
Music provides a kind of ability to know the world in a different way. Science explains how the sun rises and sets. Music explores (探究) the meanings of feelings. We need every possible way to discover and react to our world because no one way can get it all.
Music is a form of thought, as powerful as science. It is a way we humans communicate with each other. Through the language, we express our feelings, our discoveries, our ideas, our imagination and our hopes so that they can be shared with others. When we do not let our children receive good music education, we take away from them the meanings that music expresses. Science does not tell us what is the meaning of being humans. Music does.
So music education is much more important than people realize.

B Where the saying “green-eyed monster” comes from.
C. Why ancient Greeks thought people’s skin turned green when they were sick.
D. What the connection between green and negative feelings in history and culture is.
31. Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the passage?
A Comic villains wear green or purple only to show they want to be powerful.
B. Purple became a symbol of power mainly because it appears often in nature.
C. Green and purple are secondary colors formed by mixing two primary colors.
D. Before Shakespeare’s Othello, people had no connection between the color green and negative feelings.

Have you ever heard people describe themselves as an “I” or an “E” person? This comes from a popular personality test called the MBTI, which has been a hot topic online recently.
