Hi, my name’s Lily. I’m from grade nine. I have some advice on English learning for you.
At first, I found learning English really difficult. But then my teacher gave me some great tips. First, try to speak English in your daily life as much as possible. Listen to English songs, watch TV and films in English. Read English books and speak English often. I also have a language partner. We meet every weekend and speak English for an hour. That really helps. Second, carry a notebook to help you learn new words. When you come across a new word, write it down and pay attention to its meaning.
These tips are some easy ways to improve your English.

Hi Lily. Thank you for sharing your English learning experience with us. I have a question. How important do you think pronunciation is?
Well, pronunciation is a big part of learning a language. If you get the pronunciation wrong, people may not understand you. Good pronunciation takes lots of practice. And doing just a little bit every day will be a big help!
And what about grammar? Do you find it difficult to study grammar?
Yes, grammar can be hard to learn, but it is important. We need the rules of a language to make sentences. Try to write something in English every day.
Can reading help us improve our English too?
Yes, but it’s important to read often. Start by reading easy texts and then slowly move on to more difficult ones. You don’t have to understand every word. The more you read, the more you’ll understand.

Practice makes perfect
During the summer holiday, I saw a group of American students at the Temple of Heaven. They asked me about the restaurants nearby, and I answered them in English. To my surprise, they could not understand my English, and I had to repeat myself many times. I then decided to make a plan to improve my English.
I started my plan after I came back. Every morning, I spent 10 minutes listening to English on a language learning app on my phone, then another 10 minutes practising my pronunciation. I did this every day, even at the weekend. After two months, my pronunciation became a lot better.
Practice makes perfect. I still follow this plan, and now I am happy that I can express myself in English very well. I even work as a volunteer to help foreign tourists in my free time.
