Who: 通知对象是谁?(e.g., all students, residents)
What: 通知何事?(e.g., a lecture, a competition)
When: 具体时间?(e.g., 2:00 p.m., May 1st)
Where: 具体地点?(e.g., School Hall, Community Center)
Why: 原因/目的?(e.g., to enrich campus life)
How: 如何参与?(e.g., register online, sign up with...)
Must, Should, Can 所表达的语气强烈程度不同。Do not...
因此,看到表示原因(because, since, so that)或结果(to, in order to)的词句要特别注意。

Europe’s mountain towns provide some of the most refreshing landscapes on the planet. But it’s the varieties of activities on offer that really shine.
Altaussee, Austria
Situated by the Lake Altaussee, it is a popular spa town. Water temperatures at the local lake can climb to 25℃ in hot weather, so it’s a draw for lake swimmers. Boating, hiking on the Tauplitz highland and cycling are also essential activities. In the town, the old- school, but luxury Siegglut apartments make a lovely base.
Morzine, France
Morzine is a lively town packed with country-style wooden cottages. Both hikers and trail runners are well- served by its many footpaths. Beyond this, when it comes to biking, the Portes du Soleil ski area is home to five bike parks, with 372 miles of trails and 22 bike-carrying lifts. If you’re new to the sport, schools such as Ride Ability can teach you the basics. For convenient stays, the highly rated Hotel Champs Fleuris is a super option, which is close to bike rental centers.
Laax, Switzerland
Laax has been the mountain getaway for young people. In winter, its impressive No Name terrain park is where they snowboard. And in summer you’ll find them showing off tricks in skate parks. But don’t get too caught up in the skateboarding: hiking, rock- climbing and high- ropes courses are all on offer at Laax, too. Here, the minimalist Riders Hotel is a recommended place to stay.
Chamonix, France
Mountaineering is the big draw in Chamonix on account of western Europe’s tallest peak, Mont Blanc. But we’re not suggesting you climb it. Instead, join an introductory course run by the Compagnie des Guides. Over five days you’ll learn the basics of safe mountaineering and also get the courage and perseverance to climb steep rock faces. In the town, Langley Hotel Gustavia is a cute and central base in which to come back and rest.

如a draw for lake swimmers 可被转述为 a good place for lake swimming。
其语言具有鼓动性(如“hidden gem", "create memories that will last a lifetime"),但其提供的事实信息(价格、时间、活动)必须是准确的。

New England Treehouses: Fall’s Nature retreat
New England’s fall treehouses mix natural beauty with comfort, offering front-row seats to red, yellow, and orange foliage — a delight even beyond sipping hot apple cider on an inn porch. Airbnb lists 270,000 global treehouses, but North America leads: 2022-2024 bookings rose 65%. James Roth, a 25-year treehouse designer, notes 80% of clients build for rentals: “Escaping phone addiction — finding disconnection from screens — attracts people most.” Its hardwoods provide solid bases and vibrant autumn hues, making it a top spot.
Winvian, Litchfield, Connecticut
Winvian’s two-story treehouse perches 35 feet up, nested in beech and maple trees. The 113-acre estate borders a historic wildlife sanctuary. Inside, jetted tubs and gas fireplaces add luxury; guests bike to the main house for chef Chris Eddy’s foliage-themed meals or to the spa for massages.
Mink Cove, Wareham, Massachusetts
Tucked in an Atlantic inlet, Mink Cove began as a sketch by Butch Ripley and his 8-year-old daughter, then built from salvaged wood. Cozy with twinkle lights, it has a private outdoor shower and ocean scents — all surrounded by fall’s red and black oaks.
Twin Farm, Barnard, Vermont
Near Silver Lake and a historic store, Twin Farm’s treehouses follow “blend with nature” logic. Guests enter at ground level to reach 20-foot decks. Post-sunset, a gas fireplace warms; by day, people can hike to Doug’s Treehouse Folly for a picnic amid Vermont’s fall colors.
Tiffany Hill Treehouse, Sunapee, New Hampshire
A 5-minute drive from Mount Sunapee Park, this two-bedroom treehouse leans on a strong oak. It has radiant heat, a propane fireplace, a kitchen, and a porch pulley for groceries — ideal for families. Fall surrounds it with yellow and orange conifers, oaks, and birches.
Each treehouse turns New England’s fall into an unforgettable stay, merging autumn’s magic with just enough comfort.
1. What mainly draws people to New England’s treehouses according to James Roth?
A.Watching fall foliage. B.Sipping hot cider.
C.Enjoying comfortable facilities. D.Staying away from screens.
2. What do Winvian and Twin Farms have in common?
A.They both offer experience of cycling. B.They both provide access to spa services.
C.They both have gas fireplaces for warmth. D.They both feature private outdoor showers.
3. Where is the text probably taken from?
A.An outdoor lifestyle blog. B.A travel magazine article.
C.An Airbnb rental promotion. D.A local business advertisement.

WALK FOR GREEN
How often do you walk around the campus instead of getting straight onto the shuttle bus? The beauties of our campus deserve to be better explored and can best be explored on foot. Walking is also a greener and healthier alternative to using vehicles. To encourage more students and staff members to walk around the campus, our school has launched a new “Walk for Green” initiative.
Programme
Setting out from the MTR Station, “Walk for Green” recommends various walking routes on campus, one of which covers the YIA Building, LSK Building and LWS Building. Card readers for different walking routes have been installed (安装) to record the number of points completed by “Walk for Green” participants. Participants who collect 60 points within 30 days will be awarded the title “Green Walker”.
Participation
To participate, students and staff members would choose a marked route and tap their school cards at the card readers installed at both the start and end points (and also at an intermediate card reader). Name, student/staff ID, department/unit, date, time, and card readers tapped will be recorded.
Walking Journey Points
Important Notes:
1. Walkers must complete one trip (either upwards or downwards) within one hour to score points.
2. A maximum of six points will be awarded each day.
Every time you take a walk on campus, you are helping to preserve our environment and also keeping yourself healthy. Let’s start from today!
1. Where does “Walk for Green” start?
A.YIA Building. B.LSK Building.
C.LWS Building. D.MTR Station.
2. What are participants required to do?
A.Collect at least 6 points. B.Complete a round trip.
C.Maintain a fixed speed. D.Choose a pre-set route.
3. How many points do you get by walking from YIA Building to LWS Building?
A.1. B.2.
C.3. D.6.

*例2-2第1题*:题干问“start”,定位至“Setting out from the MTR Station”,直接得出答案。

Official Guidelines for the 2026 WebAward Competition
The WebAward Competition is open to all organizations and individuals involved in the process of developing web sites. Sites that have won awards in past competitions are also admissible.
Each nominator (报名者) must create a free account and entries must be submitted online using the Online entry form found in the nominator account. A website is considered entered only after both a completed entry form AND payment of the entry fee is received by the Web Marketing Association (WMA) server.
Judges will be evaluating entries from June 13th through the end of August, 2026. Make sure a password-protected site is accessible to the judges during that time period. If the judges are unable to review the site in a timely manner, the WMA reserves the right to have the site’s qualification cancelled.
Awards are granted at three levels. Sites that receive the highest average score from the judges within a given industry category are awarded a Best of Industry WebAward. Runner-up sites will then be judged against a standard of overall excellence and quality for an Outstanding WebAward. One site will be recognized as Best of Show and receive a special edition WebAward statue. Winners get a personalized page, and nominators get images to promote the winning site.
Each entry fee is $225, except for sites entered in the non-profit category, which has a discount of 20%. Entry fees are used to minimize the entry of low-quality web sites and help cover the costs of the competition. Websites submitted after the deadline of May 30, 2026 are subject to a $50 late fee in addition to normal entry fees.
1. Which of the following will disqualify a competing website?
A.Judges’ denied access to it. B.Its previous awards.
C.Its nominator’s free account. D.Its poor online reputation.
2. What award will the top-scoring site in a given industry category get?
A.Outstanding WebAward. B.Best of Show WebAward.
C.Best of Industry WebAward. D.WMA Online WebAward.
3. How much does a nominator pay for an entry in the non-profit category on May 31st?
A.$50. B.$180. C.$225. D.$230.
【答案】1.A 2.C 3.D
根据第三段“If the judges are unable to review the site in a timely manner, the WMA reserves the right to have the site’s qualification cancelled.(如果评审人员无法及时对网站进行审查,WMA则有权取消该网站的资格)”可知,评审人员无法获取信息会导致一个竞争网站被取消资格。故选A。
根据第四段“Sites that receive the highest average score from the judges within a given industry category are awarded a Best of Industry WebAward.(在某一行业类别中,那些获得评审团给出的平均评分最高的网站将被授予“行业最佳网站奖”)”可知,在某一特定行业类别中得分最高的网站将会获得行业最佳网络奖。故选C。
根据最后一段“Each entry fee is $225, except for sites entered in the non-profit category, which has a discount of 20%. Entry fees are used to minimize the entry of low-quality web sites and help cover the costs of the competition. Websites submitted after the deadline of May 30, 2026 are subject to a $50 late fee in addition to normal entry fees.(每项参赛费用为225美元,但非营利类别的参赛项目可享受20%的折扣。

重点关注“if”, “except”, “must”, “do not”等词引导的限定条件。

Media literacy isn’t just a nice-to-have skill anymore - it’s essential. At its core, media literacy means understanding how media works - who created a message, why it was made, and how it’s meant to influence the audience. Students are constantly surrounded by messages: some are helpful, others misleading. Teaching them to analyze, question, and evaluate media gives them the tools to think critically and make informed choices. The good news? You can build media literacy into what you’re already doing, one step at a time.
Use Headlines as Warm-Ups
Start class with a real-world headline - ideally one related to your subject area.
Ask students:
● Is this information reliable?
● Where did it come from?
● What might be missing?
This five-minute routine builds awareness and can lead to great discussions.Compare Two Sources
Pick two texts on the same topic but from different perspectives. This could be editorials, news articles, or video content. Ask students to compare:
● Language and tone.
● Choice of images.
● What facts are emphasized or ignored?
This is a great way to teach bias (偏见) and point of view, especially in ELA or social studies.
Build Visual Literacy
Use political cartoons, advertisements, or photos to practise interpreting:
● What’s the message?
● How is it being communicated visually?
● Who benefits from this image?
This kind of analysis helps students read beyond the text.
This is about teaching students to be curious, and you just need to model curiosity. When you say, “Let’s figure out where this came from,” you’re demonstrating to students how to think critically. And when they see you do it regularly, they start doing it too.
1. What is the primary purpose of teaching media literacy to students?
A.To arouse their interest in media.
B.To enhance their literature skills.
C.To develop their critical thinking ability.
D.To broaden their general media knowledge.
2. Which technique of teaching media literacy is recommended?
A.Using visual aids in teaching.
B.Asking students to connect two sources.
C.Providing materials that include pictures.
D.Having students figure out better headlines.
3. How can teachers best stimulate students’ curiosity?
A.Ask routine questions. B.Show, don’t just tell.
C.Reward curious students. D.Tell, don’t just watch.

· 抓结构,理要素:快速浏览小标题(如“Things to do”, “When to visit”, “Important Notes”),构建信息框架。
*例3-2第3题*:定位到“do not feed them”,明确禁止“Feed grizzly bears”。
· 混淆“建议”与“强制”:注意区分“can/may”(可以)和“must/should/do not”(必须/应该/禁止)。

→ 定位“Road Test”部分,找到“including starting, stopping, turning, parking...”。
重点关注“if”, “except”, “must”, “do not”等词引导的限定条件。
→ 定位“Warnings”,找到“plans to become pregnant”。
