Almost nothing we do in this world is done in isolation (孤立). At work or at play, you’ll find yourself in groups, working with other people: your team at work, a meeting with fellow workers, your family, a holiday with friends, a group of students working together, a group of neighbors wanting to make changes. It is now realised that being able to work successfully with other people is one of the main keys to success, partly because we need to do it so often.
In almost every situation where you’re in a group, you will need a skilled leader. All groups need leaders and all successful groups have good leaders. Groups without leaders or with weak leaders almost always break down. Members of a leaderless group often begin to feel disappointed and helpless. Time is wasted and the tasks are not achieved. There are often arguments and nervousness between people as there is nobody to keep the goals clear. Often group members begin not to come to meetings in order to avoid (避免) more disagreement.
Some people are natural leaders. The well-known cook, Antonio Carlucci says, “True leaders are born and you can see them in kitchens.” They’re people who are strong, fair and humorous. Although a lot of people agree that there are some natural-born leaders, most people now know that leadership can also be taught. Experienced teachers can train almost anyone how to be a successful leader. Good leaders don’t make people do things in a controlling way. You can learn how to join others, encouraging the whole group to work toward a common goal.
Successful leaders also need to be calm and wise. They need to be able to work out good solutions and make perfect judgments under pressure. Lastly, and probably most importantly, good leaders need to be sensitive, confident and be able to get on well with a variety of people.
1.When we are at work or at play, we find we are probably working ________.
A.independently B.successfully

3.People who are born strong, fair and humorous are called ________.

A.joining people together B.encouraging the whole group
C.controlling people to do things D.leading people to work toward goals
5.Which of the following is NOT correct according to this passage?

B.People will often feel disappointed and helpless if they aren’t with good leaders.

Mr. Smith and Mr. Brown were neighbours. Recently, they felt quite worried and angry. The problem began when Mr. Smith wanted to build a new gate between their houses. He didn’t tell Mr. Brown about his plan because they weren’t good friends. Mr. Brown was afraid the gate would be too big for the narrow lane.
They started to argue a lot. The small garden became like a wall between them. They couldn’t reach an agreement. Their family members also joined the argument. The situation seemed very bad.
One day, Mr. Brown’s son sent him an online message: “Living in peace with your neighbours is priceless. It cannot be bought with money. Good neighbours make a house feel more like a home. “After reading this, Mr. Brown understood something important. He decided to do something different. He went to Mr. Smith’s house and knocked on the door. He didn’t shout. He spoke kindly and respectfully and suggested a new plan: “We could share the cost and build a double gate that both families could use easily.”

四、任务型阅读
The idea of teamwork is very important to the success of any team. All coaches talk about working as one unit or as a team that plays as one. Teamwork and unselfishness (无私) create a great team; without them a team cannot play well against other teams. You can have a group of superstars, but if they do not work well as one unit, they are not going to be successful. The team working as one unit is going to be successful. Here are some things to consider when you are looking at your team.
Does your team have agreed-upon goals they created as a team?
Do the players openly encourage and support one another?
Do they have open communication with one another, as well as the coaches?
Does each player know what their role in the team is?
Is there shared respect among the players and coaches?
Do the players use words such as “we” when referring to the team?
Have they created a positive team image for themselves?
Does the team as a whole want to improve their performance?
Does each member consider themselves as a “team player”?
A winning team has players that share common goals and a common dream. Teams come together through shared attitudes about a particular sport. They may come together for a number of different reasons, but their goals are the same—to achieve top performance and experience success. The ends may be different but the means by which one gets there is the same—teamwork.
Teamwork is something that must be on top of the list. Every player needs to understand how important it is for them to work smoothly together if they want to be successful. Each player must be true to the whole team and be willing to act unselfishly. When challenges (挑战) come, the team needs to deal with them in a positive manner. A sense of teamwork will play an important part in this. Just remember T. E. A.M.—Together Everyone Achieves More!
1.What can make a great team?
2.Which is more important to the success of a team, teamwork or superstars?
3.How many things should be considered when you are looking at your team?

6.What is the passage mainly about?

The Power of Teamwork in Sports
Sports are a great way to learn about teamwork. Whether it’s a basketball game, a soccer match, or a relay race, working together as a team is essential for success.
Take basketball, for example. A basketball team has five players on the court. Each player has a different role: the point guard controls the ball and sets up plays, the shooting guard scores points, the small forward is versatile and can do many things, the power forward rebounds and defends, and the center is tall and blocks shots. If each player only thinks about their own performance, the team will not do well. But if they pass the ball to each other, help defend, and work together, they have a better chance of winning.
In a relay race, teamwork is even more important. Each runner has to pass a baton to the next runner. If the pass is not smooth, the team might lose the race. So, the runners practice passing the baton again and again until they can do it perfectly. They also support each other, cheering each other on during the race.
Soccer is another sport where teamwork is key. The players have to communicate with each other on the field, telling each other where the opponents are and where to pass the ball. They have to trust each other, knowing that their teammates will be there to help. A single player can’t win a soccer game alone; it takes the whole team working together.
Teamwork in sports teaches us many important lessons. It teaches us to communicate with others, to trust our teammates, and to work towards a common goal. It also teaches us that winning is not everything; what’s important is how we play the game and how we support each other.
So, the next time you watch or play a sport, remember the power of teamwork. It’s what makes a good team great.

例文
Getting along well with others is of great importance for us teenagers.
Last month, my best friend Lily and I had a fight. She forgot to return my favorite storybook on time, and I got angry, saying some harsh words. We didn’t talk for a week. Later, I realized I was too impulsive. I wrote her a note to apologize, and she said she was sorry too. We talked openly and made up soon.

A.joining people together B.encouraging the whole group
C.controlling people to do things D.leading people to work toward goals

Have you heard of dazi? Have you ever found a dazi? These days, finding a dazi is becoming popular with Chinese young people. A dazi is a person we eat with, study with, exercise with or take a trip with, but we haven’t known him or her before.
The dazi culture is about finding the right person to do the right activity with. Xiaoya, a young woman from Shanghai, has met many dazi because of her love for basketball and biking. For example, she found a basketball dazi online, and now they play together every week. Having a dazi not only gives her company (陪伴), but also helps her enjoy sports more.
These dazi relationships are very different from close friendships. As for close friends, we need to stay in close contact. With a dazi, you don’t have to do so. Many dazi may not meet again after a trip or a game together. So, many people believe having a dazi makes their social life easier and more comfortable.
Finding a dazi shows that Chinese young people want clearer boundaries (界限) in their social relationships. Dazi will not talk or ask a lot about their personal lives. And they hope these relationships can let them share their hobbies and interests, or that they can help them to improve themselves.
Finding a dazi has many good points, but we should be careful and put our safety first. Remember to tell your parents where you are going when you meet a new dazi.

Good neighbours make a house feel more like a home. “After reading this, Mr. Brown understood something important. He decided to do something different.
