Setting his sights on the 24 Hours of Le Mans sports car race in 2026,Team BRIT
founder and CEO Dave Player explains:"If you're a mountain climber, you want to climb
Everest eventually and if you're an endurance racer, you dream of competing in the Le
Mans 24 Hours. It's a legendary, historic event that every racing driver sets their sights
on."Meet Team BRIT,the car racing team overcoming life-threatening accidents and
health conditions to compete in the most reputable championships in the world.
If the team gets to compete in what is widely judged to be the world's most exhausting
endurance race, they'll also enter the history books as the first all-disabled team to do so.
It's something they have to work up to,with all the drivers needing the necessary
expericnce and suitable cars.
Other disabled drivers have taken part, but only through a wild card,non-competitive
plan."We don't want that,Dave,54,insists."We want to compete on a level playing
field,as a statement that even as disabled racing drivers we belong on a world stage. We
want to earn our place, not have it given to us."
As a wheelchair user since he dove into a lake.and.broke his neck at 23,Dave set up
the charity Kart Force in 2010 as a way for injured old soldiers to use sports car for
recovery. He went on to found Team BRIT in 2015-creating a set of hand controls that
could be installed in racing cars to enable drivers with disabilities to compete side by side
with able-bodied competitors.Based at Dunsfold Park (also home of the Top Gear test
track near Cranleigh),it is a competitive,sponsorship-supported racing team.
Every test lap at Dunsfold is fired by the same belief:the summit of endurance racing
is not reserved for the able-bodicd,but for the daring who refuse to quit. When the green
flag falls in 2026,Team BRIT will prove that the only real disability is a mind that never
dares to race.
24.Why does Dave Player regard the Le Mans 24 Hours as his final goal?
A.It is the first race he has ever watched on TV.
B.It is the only race that allows disabled drivers.
C.It offers the biggest money prize in motor sports.
D.It is seen as the highest mountain in endurance racing.
25.In what aspect is Team BRIT different from other disabled participants?
A.They have a wild card entry.
B.They never take the world stage.
C.They make non-competitive schemes.
D.They aim to earn their position themselves.

Looking at his pile of unpaid bills always makes Giuseppe Del Giudice feel uneasy.
Sometimes he got late fees because of his habit of putting things off,but in many ways the
emotional loss is worse."The longer the bills go unpaid,"says Del Giudice,"the more
anxious I get..”
Everyone procrastinates(拖延).“It's common,”says procrastination researcher Tim
Pychyl,a psychology professor at Carleton University,Canada."One of the ways we cope
is to run away, and that's what procrastination comes down to."
You can procrastinate on nearly anything, even pleasant tasks such as planning a
vacation.Research has shown that the top tasks people delay are cleaning, advancing their
careers, taking care of their health and planning their finances.
One big factor for them is fear of bcing judged by others and themselves.Kelli Saginak
procrastinated about looking for a new job for years."It's totally fear of failure and of not
living up to expectation,"says Saginak."If I don't take the risk,I don't have to face the
judgment.Yet it's simply me judging myself."Some people embrace procrastination,
believing that they perform well under pressure.Researchers have uncovered the truth.
Most of them did worse than non-procrastinators,but they thought they did better.
Whatever the motivation, procrastination is usually not going to be good for you.
Procrastinators experience higher levels of stress, both from leaving things to the last
minute and from their own negative and self-critical feelings about their procrastination.
Some of the research has also shown that this stress increases the risks of many diseases.
"We used to believe behaviours follow attitude, but if you take immediate action, you'll
make progress, thus motivating yourself."Pychyl says.So next time you procrastinate on
starting an exercise routine, just put on your walking shoes at once.
28.Why does the author mention Del Giudice in Paragraph 1?

From his office in New Haven,Yale ecologist Jeremy Cohen experiences the full range
of the four seasons. It occurred to him that many of his research subjects-North American
birds eschew the seasons, instead seeking the same weather conditions all year long across
their migratory(迁移的)routes.
To better understand how different species of North American birds track these
preferred climatic conditions,Cohen determined the environmental conditions using
satellite weather data, which allowed him to assess how those conditions experienced by
each species change throughout the seasons. This analysis was the first to consider the
importance of weather change in determining how bird species track their habitats across
seasons.Past studies had evaluated only the average weather conditions, leaving vital
knowledge gaps about both the ecology and potential danger of birds.
"We found that some migratory species can track temperature or rainfall throughout
the year, going out of their way to experience the same weather all year long, while others
experience strong changes.in seasonal conditions throughout the year, said Cohen.Long
distance migratory birds, such as the prothonotary warbler, are excellent habitat-trackers.
Their migration means they can seek out preferred condition.Small-bodied birds, such as
vireos, and insect-eaters,such as flycatchers, also tend to closely track their habitats over
the year, while large-bodied birds are able to bear a wide range of conditions over the year.
Revealing these patterns was no simple task. For the study,Cohen had to combine
data from millions of current records for over 600 bird species along with 22 years of
weather data.Such a task would not have been possible even a decade ago."It's important
to understand how wildlife is handling the consequences of speeding up climate change so
that,as climate change speeds up,we can prevent the fall of ecological communities and
biological diversity while avoiding the loss of ecosystem services,"Cohen said.

34.Why are varictics of birds in Paragraph 3 mentioned?

The ways to turn one day off into a 24-hour vacation
For people with inflexible schedules or limited time off from work, flying for a day
trip can be an attainable way to experience a place without committing to a longer
vacation.Kevin Droniak says he is "addicted"to 24-hour travel.
Droniak,a content creator, has documented over a dozen trips originating from New
York on TikTok.36 Typically,it involves an early-morning flight,a period of
exploring a city or a specific attraction, then a departure in the evening or the following
morning."I want to showcase that travel can have an incredible impact even if time isn't
on your side,"said Droniak,28.Fast-paced travel and 24-hour journeys appear earlier than
social media and viral fads. However, this hardcore style of travel taps into our modern
desire for quick, impactful experiences that are easily documented and shared.37
Droniak says the key to jet-setting day trips is not to over-pian.38 On a trip to
Puerto Rico, for instance, his objective was simply to go to the beach. In Cairo (yes,
Droniak spent one day there from New York),his only goal was to see the pyramids.
39 Most people might consider a route like this extremely exhausting, but Droniak
insists that he embraced and enjoyed the sweaty adventure

anywhere for a day trip is inconceivable, but Droniak considers the most worthwhile
experiences are ones that fully get you out of the house.40 Because it makes it
possible to experience a childlike sense of wonder again,"he said.
