B The afternoon air was thick and warm, and by the time my dad and I reached the bay, which we called a swimming palace, my clothes were damp and itchy (痒) on my skin. Dad dived into a splash, heading out toward the edge of our narrow bay. Overwhelmed, suddenly, and with envy, I did what I hadn’t done in years: I held my breath and pulled my own head underwater. There, suspended beneath the glimmering surface, I remembered it all — my love of diving, swimming, rivers and lakes. I knew what it was like again: to be free and fully present in my own skin. Though I’ve always loved the water, I had spent seven years prior to that day staying away from moments like this one. I was afraid. Struggling for a long time with unhelpful treatments, and the pressures of teenage girls’ appearance, I had become entirely reliant on my makeup. I needed total control over how I looked, and going swimming meant washing this control away. My bare face and natural appearance were not something I identified with. I hated it, deeply, though I wished more than anything that I didn’t. But those 10 minutes of contentment I floated within were fuel for the next chapter of my life. Suddenly, it didn’t matter how I did it. Whether through medication or mental attitude, I would find a way to have the kind of life that allowed me to dive into the water. That day was the beginning of a slow but determined journey back to my own body — a slow unearthing of my deep self-consciousness. Life didn’t change in a heartbeat: I returned to the shore with all the same fears, but I clothed myself in a new determination to change things. I felt the tide turn. Reflecting on this moment again today, it seems strange to think that going bare-faced on an empty beach was such a challenge. But this is exactly the perspective I had once dreamed of reaching. I do my best never to take for granted this freedom I have found. I will sink under the surface of the water, embracing that swell of fear and joy and liberation. 4. What can we learn from the first two paragraphs? A. My father’s action inspired me. B. I once suffered from memory loss. C. My envy prevented me from diving. D. The bay was where I learned swimming. 5. The author avoided swimming for seven years because of ______ . A. pressure from independence B. treatment for mental illness C. inconvenience of making up D. insecurity about appearance 6. How did the author feel after she returned from the diving? A. Hesitant and fearful. B. Restless but joyful. C. Proud and contented. D. Afraid but resolute. 7 What message does the author want to convey in the passage? A. Do not judge a book by its cover. B. Self-acceptance is the greatest gift. C. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. D. Nothing is difficult to a willing heart. C For much of history, the practice of art was mysterious, and artists were viewed as being somewhat odd and often mad. Even the word most commonly associated with artists — inspiration — has its own magical qualities. Literally, the word “inspiration” means the breathing-in of a spirit. Artists were thought of as people who were uniquely inspired to create. Many artists credited their talents to the presence of some supernatural power. The Romantic poets believed that art was a term that meant an ultimate expression of beauty and truth. The search for this ideal led them to explore both natural and supernatural themes in their works. Another persistent view of art regarded its divorce from logic. Reason and logic were the province of scientists and philosophers, whereas creativity and insight were the area of the artists. The two separate aspects of the mind were supposed to remain distinct. But in 1704 a major breakthrough occurred. Sir Isaac Newton, mathematician and physicist, published his study of light, Opticks. One of Newton’s major discoveries was on the nature of color. Using a prism (棱镜), Newton provided a scientific explanation for the presence of rainbows. The artistic community was shocked. A scientist had ventured into their sacred territory. More than a hundred years later, John Keats, one of the most famous Romantic poets, accused Newton of reducing beauty by “unweaving the rainbow”. His colleague, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, famously remarked that the souls of five hundred Newtons would be needed to make one Shakespeare. And yet, from another perspective, Newton did not reduce the beauty of the rainbow; he enhanced it. In his search to uncover the secrets of the rainbow, Newton demonstrated the wonder, creativity, and inspiration of an artist. His discovery also paved the way for the development of spectroscopy, a way of analyzing the chemical makeup of light. Now scientists can look at the stars and know their composition. The sense of wonder this ability creates is not much different from the wonder the poet or artist feels when staring at those same stars. 8. According to the passage, what was the common view of artists in history? A. Their works focused on the supernatural. B. Their unique abilities came from within. C. They possessed both logic and magic. D. They were strange but indeed gifted. 9. How did the Romantic poets react to Newton’s discovery about light and color? A. They credited Newton’s insights to mystical influences. B. They felt it faded the poetic beauty of natural phenomena. C. They were inspired to integrate more scientific themes in their poetry. D. They believed it added a new dimension to the appreciation of beauty. 10. Why does the author mention John Keats’ and Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s views on Newton? A. To contrast their criticism with science’s artistic value. B. To highlight the effect of scientific breakthroughs on art. C. To show Romantic poets’ objection to scientific progress. D. To emphasize the superior creativity of poets over scientists. 11. Which of the following is the best title of the passage? A. Distinguishing Art from Science B. Isaac Newton’s Influence on Arts C. Shared Wonder of Art and Science D. The Artistic Interpretation of Science D Long before Webster completed his 1828 masterpiece, An American Dictionary of the English Language, he published A Grammatical Institute of the English Language, which matched traditional English orthography (拼写法), with, for instance, entries for “theatre” and “publick”. After that, however, Webster became committed to an American dialect that would be distinct from British English. He featured updated spellings of a number of words, including “theater” and “public”. As Gab e Henry notes in Enough Is Enuf a history of the largely fruitless efforts to reform English spelling, Webster wasn’t motivated by nationalism alone. He had also become an advocate of comprehensive changes to written English, mourning its “irregular” orthography. Mr. Henry begins his smart, lighthearted account of the simplified spelling movement by identifying the “heart of our problem” that “English has 44 sounds but only 26letters” and that each sound has, “on average, four ways of spelling it”. Over the centuries, reformers have proposed solutions—including adding new letters to the alphabet and removing existing letters from the alphabet—all in vain. It’s fitting that Henry, our guide through this history, is a humorist. For one thing, simplified spelling looks funny, a fact that 19th-century writers such as Josh Billings, skillfully employed. “I owe my suksess in life to midevoshun to spelyng,” Billings once wrote. Enough Is Enuf also finds humor in how deadly serious some notable figures were about spelling reform, Melvil Dewey, the creator of the Dewey System, was born “Melville,” but his commitment to spelling reform started with his own name. The final section of Enough Is Enuf brings simplified spelling into the current age, covering advertising, digital technology and even the pop songwriting of Prince. Of course, texting and social media have simplified the way we communicate, satisfying the remaining die-hard spelling reformers even as traditionalists mourn the rise of “GR8,” “pls,” and the like. Mr. Henry, for his part, is untroubled by text-speak, and he argues that Webster would be too, who once wisely noted “It is quite impossible to stop the progress or language.” 12. Why is Webster mentioned at the beginning? A. To honor his contribution to American English. B. To compare his works with those of other writers. C. To show his nationalist views on English spelling. D. To provide a historical context for spelling reform. 13. Which of the following shows the reformers’ efforts? A. Webster updated “theater” to “theatre”. B. Melville changed the spelling of his name. C. Four ways of spelling a sound were invented. D. Words like “Gr8” and “pls” are widely used. 14. What is Henry’s attitude towards the spelling reform? A. Objective. B. Subjective. C. Critical. D. Dismissive. 15. Where is this text most likely from? A. A book review. B. A history text. C. A cultural magazine. D. A research report. 第二节(共10小题;每小题1.5分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 The summer following your high school graduation is supposed to be unforgettable. But for me, things were quite the opposite. I complained to Mom over the phone about the extreme boredom during the first week of my summer stay on my grandparents’ farm. She said, “Don’t envy others! Just dive into the experience and taste true joy. Not everyone gets the opportunity to live on a farm.” Her words gave me an idea, so I decided I would compose my social media status updates on the farm. Then, my post hit the feed the next morning: Alyssa’s Status: 5:54 A.M. The rooster (公鸡) is standing tall on his post, wings shining in the dawn light. He beats his wings, lifts his head high, and declares the start of a brand new day. Carlos posted at 7:39 A.M., saying he was searching for sea turtle nests on the beach and hoping to find one. Natalia posted at 11:19 A.M., asking which color to paint a rock star’s house. They got 26 and 28 likes respectively. To my great joy, my post got almost the same amount of attention as theirs. Satisfying! Just as I was about to comment on their posts, Grandma interrupted me, “Alyssa, put your shoes on. We’re off to Haverford’s farm to pick blackberries.” Later that afternoon, I posted about the unexpected fun and described in vivid detail about the fantastic flavors of blackberry pies. Responses? Carlos said he wished he could taste one while Natalia was envious of my farm adventure. Interesting! After breakfast the following morning, Grandma said, “I was just thinking that today might be a good day for you to explore the old barn (谷仓). I’ve spotted foxes nearby — maybe you’ll find some adorable baby foxes there. “That would have potential for a worthy photo to post online,” I thought to myself. Perfect! With curiosity, I approached the old barn, and pushed the door open. 注意: (1)续写词数应为150个左右; (2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Suddenly, a weak sound was heard from a corner of the barn. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ As I was waiting for the comments, something within me started to change. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 鄞州中学2026届高三英语测试(三) 考生须知: 1. 1. As a senior grappling with deadlines and exams, I wholeheartedly support the documentary idea. I believe it will immortalize our collective struggles, laughter, and growth during this pivotal year. Such a film not only serves as a precious graduation gift but also inspires younger students by showcasing the resilience of our generation. These moments deserve to be preserved, allowing us to reflect on our journey while motivating others. To make the documentary more engaging, I suggest including diverse perspectives. Classrooms could capture intense study sessions, while interviews with teachers would highlight their unwavering support. Footage of late-night study groups and sports meeting would add authenticity. Moreover, ending with a heartfelt message from each graduating class member would strengthen the film’s unifying power. This would transform the documentary into a time capsule, cherished by all. May this film turn fleeting moments into eternal sparks. Yours sincerely, Li Hua 第二节:读后续写(满分25分)。 【47题答案】 【答案】 Suddenly, a weak sound was heard from a corner of the barn. It was dark inside. I gathered myself and went toward the sound with great care. As I flicked on my phone’s flashlight and saw what was in one of the stalls, I let out a high-pitched squeal — baby foxes! They were crawling out of a hole and then tumbling back down. Adorable! Barely could I contain my thrill and excitement at my first encounter with these wild creatures. Knowing that everyone adored animals, I snapped a hundred photos and quickly updated my post. This time, I knew I’d make everyone jealous, including, of course, my two best friends. As I was waiting for the comments, something within me started to change. Likes did pour in as anticipated, alongside Carlos and Natalia’s warm words. Yet, the thrill of likes faded as my thoughts wandered to the cute baby foxes’ awkward leaps — no filter could frame this joy. Piece by piece, the farm’s simple wonders surfaced: the unforgettable dawn scene, the fantastic flavors of blackberry pies, the dusty barn, and wild magic, etc., and all these kept me spellbound. Mom was right: true joy wasn’t in crafting envy-worthy posts for likes but in these simple, precious moments spent with my beloved Grandpa on the magic farm. 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
