A nearby theater was showing a documentary (纪录片) about several local animal shelters that were helping to save abandoned dogs across the country. I love animals, and I felt an urge to go to this fundraising event. However, none of my co-workers would go with me, and I was worried about walking on the street alone at night. I resigned myself to spending the evening in my hotel room, but as soon as I got back to my room I felt restless and bored. The theater where the event was taking place was only about five blocks from the hotel, and the area around the hotel didn’t seem particularly dangerous. So, I decided to brave it. I gathered up my wallet and room key and set off. It was already getting dark and the streets were nearly deserted. I managed to find the street the theater was on, but when I turned the corner, I stopped in shock. In front of the theater were a group of bikers–very big, tough-looking bikers. I’ve known lots of motorcycle enthusiasts and most are nice people. However, in this case, I was a woman all alone, in a strange neighborhood, at night, and there were twenty or so very large men–all wearing insignia (徽章) that indicated they were in some sort of club–standing before me. Warning bells began to sound in my head, and my heart was pounding. Was I at the right theater? Had I misread the date of the event? A sign outside the theater told me that I was in the right place on the right evening. Nevertheless, I wondered if I should rush back to my hotel instead of walking through that crowd of bikers. I finally decided that I would be safer inside the theater. Hopefully, the bikers would have gone away by the time the film was over. Paragraph 1: I hurried into the theater, only to find there were even more bikers inside. Paragraph 2: When the film began, I realized that the bikers were an animal rescue group. Pumpkin (南瓜)carving at Halloween is a family tradition. We visit a local farm every October. In the pumpkin field, I compete with my three brothers and sister to seek out the biggest pumpkin. My dad has a rule that we have to carry our pumpkins back home, and as the eldest child I have an advantage — I carried an 85-pounder back last year. This year, it was hard to tell whether my prize or the one chosen by my 14-year-old brother, Jason, was the winner. Unfortunately we forgot to weigh them before taking out their insides, but I was determined to prove my point. All of us were hard at work at the kitchen table, with my mom filming the annual event. I’m unsure now why I thought forcing my head inside the pumpkin would settle the matter, but it seemed to make perfect sense at the time. With the pumpkin resting on the table, hole uppermost, I bent over and pressed my head against the opening. At first I got jammed just above my eyes and then, as I went on with my task, unwilling to quit, my nose briefly prevented entry. Finally I managed to put my whole head into it, like a cork (软木塞) forced into a bottle. I was able to straighten up with the huge pumpkin resting on my shoulders. My excitement was short-lived. The pumpkin was heavy. “I’m going to set it down, now,” I said, and with Jason helping to support its weight, I bent back over the table to give it somewhere to rest. It was only when I tried to remove my head that I realized getting out was going to be less straightforward than getting in. When I pulled hard, my nose got in the way. I got into a panic as I pressed firmly against the table and moved my head around trying to find the right angle, but it was no use. “I can’t get it out!” I shouted, my voice sounding unnaturally loud in the enclosed space. Paragraph 1 I was stuck for five or six minutes though it felt much longer. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2 That video was posted the day before Halloween. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【真题3】2017年浙江卷:健忘而可爱的妈妈 阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。 A vacation with my mother     I had an interesting childhood: It was filled with surprise and amusements, all because of my mother-loving, sweet, and yet absent-minded and forgetful. One strange family trip we took when I was eleven tells a lot about her.    My two sets of grandparents lived in Colorado and North Dakota, and my parents decided to spend a few weeks driving to those states and seeing all the sights along the way. As the first day of our trip approached, David, my eight-year-old brother, and I unwillingly said good-bye to all of our friends. Who knew if we’d ever see them again? Finally, the moment of our departure arrived, and we loaded suitcases, books, games, camping equipment, and a tent into the car and bravely drove off. We bravely drove off again two hours later after we’d returned home to get the purse and traveler’s checks Mom had forgotten.    David and I were always a little nervous when using gas station bathrooms if Mom was driving while Dadslept:” You stand outside the door and play lookout while I go, and I’ll stand outside the door and play lookout while you go.” I had terrible pictures in my mind: “Honey, where are the kids?” “What?! Oh, Gosh… I thought they were being awfully quiet.” We were never actually left behind in a strange city, but we weren’t about to take any chances. On the fourth or fifth night, we had trouble finding a hotel with a vacancy. After driving in vain for some time, Mom suddenly got a great idea: Why didn’t we find a house with a likely-looking backyard and ask if we could set up tent there? David and I became nervous. To our great relief, Dad turned down the idea. Mom never could understand our objections. If a strange family showed up on her front doorsteps, Mom would have been delighted. She thinks everyone in the world as as nice as she is. We finally found a vacancy in the next town. Paragraph 1  The next day we remembered the brand-new tent we had brought with us. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2  We drove through several states and saw lots of great sights along the way. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 四、模拟题演练01 Writing 01 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 It was at least two months before Christmas when nine-year-old Almie Rose told her father and me that she wanted a new bicycle. Her old Barbie bicycle was just too babyish, and besides, it needed a new tire. As Christmas drew nearer, her desire for a bicycle seemed to fade, —or so we thought, as she didn’t mention it again. Merrily, we started purchasing the latest fashion—Baby Sitter’s Club dolls—and beautiful story books, a doll house, a holiday dress and toys. Then, much to our surprise, on December 23rd, she proudly announced that she “really wanted a bike more than anything else.” Now we didn’t know what to do. It was just too late, with all the details of preparing Christmas dinner and buying last-minute gifts. So here we were—Christmas Eve around 9:00 p.m., having just returned from a wonderful party, looking forward to our evening ahead—hours of wrapping children’s presents, parents’ presents, a brother’s presents and friends’ presents. With Almie Rose and her six-year-old brother, Dylan, lay comfortably in their beds. Now we could only think of the bicycle, the guilt and the idea that we were parents who would disappoint their child. Paragraph 1: “What if I make a little bicycle out of clay (黏土) and she can trade it for a real one later?” my husband Ron thought. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: On Christmas morning, we were excited for Almie to open the package with the clay bike. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Writing 02 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Seeing the United Parcel Truck pull into my driveway, I opened the garage door knowing that another package had arrived helping us with the Christmas in July Party we were putting together for the homeless children at a local charity. As I stood watching the driver get the packages from the back of the truck, I saw Madison, my three-year-old granddaughter, picking weeds from the lawn. “These are for my mommy and daddy,” she replied, as she held out a hand full of worthless little weeds. I just smiled and nodded my head as I looked at her tight little closed fist. The UPT driver walked into the garage and sat the two packages down on the wooden bench. He and I stood talking about the numerous baseball gloves, baseball bats, helmets and baseballs sitting about the room. I told him I had been raised in a Jacksonville, Florida orphanage and that during my entire childhood I never once owned anything of my own. I told him that these presents were for the children themselves and not for the orphanage. After talking for a few minutes, the driver told me he had to leave. He waved and began walking back down the driveway. I turned around, locked garage door and began walking up onto the front porch. Just as I closed the gate, Madison came running up to where I was standing. “My flowers, my flowers,” she screamed aloud. I soon realized that I had locked her weeds in the garage. “We’ll get them later,” I told her. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I turned around, walked back to the end of the porch and opened the gate. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Writing 03 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Alice and her family went on a camping trip along the seaside. Upon arrival, Dad called for a meeting. He announced, “There are lots of jobs to be done. It’s no fun on holiday if Mum and I do all the work, so I come up with this pocket money chart. In this way, everyone has to do something, and you must do your own job every day! If you do your jobs well, you get some extra pocket money!” Looking at the chart, which had their names on it next to a list of jobs, the kids frowned (皱眉) at the idea. Unwillingly, they began to do their jobs. Alice washed up the dishes. Mike, the youngest brother, dried the dishes. Jeff, Alice’s twin brother, took their dog for a walk. The next day they went to the beach. After playing some time in the sea, they went to look for shells along the beach. Suddenly, Alice found a strange-looking rock. She picked it up and showed it to Dad. “You’ve found a fossil (化石)! It was once a shellfish and has turned into a rock after millions of years!” Dad said happily. Greatly inspired, Alice continued her search, determined to find a better one, but she failed. Darkness fell, and Alice had to head back to the campsite with her family in disappointment. On the way back they stopped at a shop, where Alice spotted some amazing fossils! But soon she found they were too expensive! Back at the camp, Alice was still thinking of the amazing fossils in the shop. Suddenly an idea occurred to her, “I’ll do everyone’s jobs and then I can get all the extra pocket money to buy a fossil!” The next morning, Alice offered to dry the dishes and walk the dog, which greatly pleased Mike and Jeff. But things didn’t go as Alice planned. When Dad saw Alice walking the dog, he was confused. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Later that morning, Mike and Jeff approached Alice when they found she was unhappy. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Writing 04 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 One day, I found a wallet on the street. The wallet contained only three dollars and a very old letter. The envelope was worn and the only thing on it was the return address. I started to open the letter, hoping to find some information. Then I saw the date-1990, and the signature-Beatrice. The letter was written several decades ago. Then I made every effort and found out that Beatrice was now working in a hospital. I showed her the letter. The second she saw the letter, she took a deep breath and said, “Young man, this letter was the last contact I ever had with Henry. He is my only brother. I loved him very much. I was only 16 at the time and my brother is two years younger than me. If you can find him, tell him I'm still looking for him,” she said and tears began to well up in her eyes. “Mother is waiting for him to come back home.” When I walked out of the building with the wallet in my hand, the guard of the building recognized the wallet, and with his help, I finally found its owner, Henry. I handed the wallet to Henry and he said, “Yes, that's mine! It must have dropped out of my pocket this afternoon.” “I read the letter in the hope of finding out who owned the wallet.” I said. The smile on his face suddenly disappeared. He asked, “You read that letter?” “Not only did I read it, but also Beatrice read.” I replied. He suddenly became excited. “Beatrice? You know where she is? How is she? Please tell me,” he begged. “She's fine. She has been looking for you.” I said softly. He grabbed my hand and said, “Sir, you know she is my only sister in this world. I've always missed her.” Henry and I took the elevator (电梯) down to Beatrice's room. I walked over to her. “Beatrice,” I said softly, pointing to Henry, who was waiting with me in the doorway. “Do you know the man?” Beatrice adjusted her glasses, looked for a moment, but didn't say a word. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ About three weeks later I got a call at my office from Beatrice. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Writing 05 阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。(满分25分) During lunchtime,Emma suggested going to the zoo to feed the animals and her mom agreed. “We’ll stop by the bakery and pick some bread up. Emma ate her lunch and then ran into her room to get her shoes. The problem was that she could only find one of them. She looked under her bed, but all she could see were dirty towels and pants. She moved some of her toys out of the way,but still couldn’t find her shoe. After she’d checked everywhere in her room, she ran into the kitchen. “Mom,I can’t find my shoe. Will you wait while I look for it?”she asked. After divorce,my two daughters not only lost the safety of a whole family, they also tearfully(泪汪汪地)left behind neighborhood friends, a familiar school, and a large house. These had all been replaced with a narrow two-bedroom apartment in a poorer part of town . I arranged to take my vacation during my children's winter holiday. We spent evenings planning activities: games, a pizza night , and evening car rides to view neighborhood holiday lights .With expectation , they seemed to be in good spirits . The week before the school break, however, I was fired because of the company's poor performance. By Christmas Eve,sadness covered our vacation plans. An afternoon outing did little to improve our mood . On returning to our apartment, we were astonished to see a beautiful,six-foot Christmas tree propped(支撑)against our front door. In silent wonder, we looked back and forth, from the tree to one another and around the empty street. Excitement built, and the girls begged to keep the tree. "Maybe it's for us,"my older daughter guessed. "Yeah,"repeated my younger child,"I bet an angel brought it to us!" I laughed aloud at the idea of an angel bringing a Christmas tree to my family. Caught up in their happiness, I announced the tree "ours". We moved it inside and headed out to the only upermarkets in our small town open that late on Christmas Eve. With holiday goods down to half price,I agreed to buy a tree stand(底座),two boxes of colorful balls , some colorful lights , and one paper angel. Paragraph 1:Back home , we moved "our" tree into our tiny living room . ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2:The annual winter holiday became a family tradition. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Writing 07 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Seeing the United Parcel Truck pull into my driveway, I opened the garage door knowing that another package had arrived helping us with the Christmas in July Party we were putting together for the homeless children at a local charity. She surfed the Internet for cheap travel deals and found the most impressive to be a twoday trip to Dublin. Jessie had never visited Ireland so she knew this was the destination for her. She arrived in Dublin and headed for her hotel. She was excited. When she found her hotel, she paid her money for both nights in advance. The receptionist (接待员) said that was possibly the smartest thing she had done since she decided to take the trip. Jessie dropped her bags in her room and immediately went out to check out some of the sights. It was getting late as Jessie wandered in the streets and decided that even though she was starving, she would rather wait to have dinner later after having a drink. She headed into the closest pub. Jessie noticed a rather strangelooking man staring at her from across the room. He walked to her table and asked her in his most polite manner if she would like to have a beer. After about ten seconds of thought, Jessie came to the conclusion that she would and accepted the offer. But she proposed that she should treat him to some fruits. The man smiled and accepted. Their conversation was mainly about places they had been and places they wanted to go. Jessie soon found out that he was traveling alone too and as soon as he started mentioning that he was staying in the same hotel as her, Jessie swiftly rose from her seat to get another drink. Searching through her bag Jessie found that her wallet was gone! Immediately she realized she took the wrong bag. Her wallet was in another bag. Jessie didn’t panic at first until it hit her that without it, she had not one penny in hand. She was starving. Worst of all, she had generously proposed a treat to the man. Paragraph 1: Without explaining the situation, Jessie ran back to the hotel. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: The man was still there. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Writing 09 阅读下面短文,根据所给情节,使之构成一个完整的故事。 After dinner, Mrs. Quimby told the family that Grandma, who lived on a farm, had sent in a lot of pumpkins for jack-o’-lanterns (空心南瓜灯) for the neighborhood children. There was one in the basement waiting to be carved, she added. Ramona sprang to her feet and dashed down to bring it up, but it was too heavy for a second-grader. Finally Mr. Quimby gave a hand. “Let’s make it smile like last year,” exclaimed Ramona. “Hmm. Let’s see.” Mr. Quimby studied the pumpkin, turning it to find the best side for the face. With a pencil he sketched (素描) a nose-shaped nose, not a triangle. Then the mouth turned up on both sides. “smiling!” Ramona clapped her hands. Mr. Quimby nodded with a smile, cut a circle around the top of the pumpkin and lifted it off for a lid. Without being asked, Ramona found a big spoon for scooping out the seeds. Picky-picky, the Quimbys' shabby old cat, came into the kitchen to see if something had been put in his dish. When he found that it had not, he paused, sniffed the pumpkin smell and angrily walked out with his tail twitching. Mr. Quimby began to whistle as he carved with skill and care, first a mouthful of teeth, each one neat and square, then eyes and eyebrows. He was working on two ears shaped like question marks when Mrs. Quimby announced it was bedtime for Ramona. Unwillingly Ramona ran, took a shower and quickly returned. Now, Mr. Quimby had just carved a few C-shaped curls (卷发) around the hole in the top of the pumpkin. He reached inside and dug a candle holder in the bottom. “There,” he said, putting down his knife. “A work of art.” Mrs. Quimby found a candle stub (残根), inserted it in the pumpkin, lit it and set the lid in place. I was in Philadelphia for a conference when I saw an ad in the hotel. 【范文1】 I hurried into the theater, only to find there were even more bikers inside. My heart sank and I felt a bit panicked. But I noticed that they were all very orderly. Some were chatting quietly about the dogs they had rescued. I took a deep breath and found an empty seat as far away from them as possible. I was still a bit nervous but tried to calm myself down, waiting for the film to start.  When the film began, I realized that the bikers were an animal rescue group. They were here for the same reason as me - to support the local animal shelters. I felt so ashamed of my initial fear. As the film played, I saw their efforts in saving the abandoned dogs. They were so passionate and kind. After the film, I went up to them and apologized for my misjudgment. They just laughed and said it was okay. We even exchanged contact information to keep in touch about future animal - saving activities. 1. "Don't judge a book by its cover, as those who seem intimidating might have a kind heart." 2. "Appearances can be deceiving, and unexpected kindness may come from the most unlikely people." 3. "One should never make assumptions based on looks alone, for there's often more than meets the eye." 4. "Underneath a tough exterior could lie a warm and caring soul, just as those bikers did." 5. "We should look beyond appearances to discover the true nature of others, as the bikers' story shows." 2】 I hurried into the theater, only to find there were even more bikers inside. My heart sank and I felt like I had walked into a lion's den. They were chatting loudly and seemed to fill every corner of the place. I quickly found an empty seat in a corner, trying to make myself as inconspicuous as possible. I kept stealing glances at them, still feeling extremely nervous.  When the film began, I realized that the bikers were an animal rescue group. They were here for the same reason as I was-to support the animal shelters. They had organized this event to raise funds and awareness for the abandoned dogs. As I watched them watching the film with such passion and care in their eyes, I felt ashamed of my initial judgment. I was touched by their love for animals and glad that I hadn't let my fear stop me from coming. 生词归纳: 1.“inconspicuous”:形容词,意为“不显眼的;不引人注意的”,例句“He tried to make himself inconspicuous in the crowd.”(他试图在人群中让自己不引人注意。)  2.“initial”:形容词,意思是“最初的;开始的”,例如“Her initial reaction was one of shock.”(她最初的反应是震惊。) 1.“only to find there were even more bikers inside”是不定式作结果状语,表示意料之外的结果,生动地体现出“我”进入剧院后看到更多骑手时那种糟糕又意外的心情。 2. “I felt ashamed of my initial judgment.” 3】 I hurried into the theater, only to find there were even more bikers inside. I froze for a moment, my palms sweating and my mind racing with all kinds of worst-case scenarios. But since I was already inside, I took a deep breath and walked slowly towards an empty row, constantly aware of their presence around me.  When the film began, I realized that the bikers were an animal rescue group. It turned out that they were using their club's influence to advocate for these poor animals. They were the ones who had put a lot of effort into organizing this fundraising event. Watching them so engrossed in the documentary, I couldn't help but smile. I was relieved that my unfounded fears had been just that-unfounded. And I was truly inspired by their dedication to the cause of helping animals. “scenarios”:名词,复数形式,意为“设想;方案;情节”,如“We need to consider different scenarios before making a decision.”(在做决定之前我们需要考虑不同的设想情况。)  2. “engrossed”:形容词,“全神贯注的;专心致志的”,常用搭配“be engrossed in”,例如“He was engrossed in reading the book.”(他全神贯注地读那本书。) 1. “I froze for a moment, my palms sweating and my mind racing with all kinds of worst-case scenarios.” 2. “It turned out that they were using their club's influence to advocate for these poor animals.”中“It turned out that...” Pumpkin (南瓜)carving at Halloween is a family tradition. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 优秀范文1 It was five or six minutes though it felt much longer. The air inside the hollow vegetable was full of my anxious breath. I could hear my sister’s laughter and Jason’s muffled voice talking about cutting the giant thing open. “No! Not my precious pumpkin!” I protested. Eventually, Dad helped me adjust my body to a more relaxed position, and pulled the pumpkin gently off my head. Hair in knots, nose and chain covered in pumpkin flesh, I let out a sigh of relief. That’s when I realized the camera had been rolling the whole time! The video was posted online the Monday before Halloween.I looked just like a pumpkin head in it. Embarrassed and a little annoyed, I fled to my room, but Mom stopped me. “You haven’t read the comments yet.” I scrolled down the screen and marveled at the stories the viewers shared about Halloween. One girl recalled celebrating it with her brothers and sisters, and thanked us for “bringing her home”. The words brought warmth to my heart and tears to my eyes. I was conscious that my nose was acting as an impediment to my escape. With stretching out my face and biting into the pumpkin, I surmounted the large obstacle and managed to pull my head out. A ripple of excitement ran through us but the first thing I saw was the camera. The video was posted online the Monday before Halloween. In the space of a week, it had been viewed over a million times. It filled Mom with greater astonishment. Rarely had a pumpkin’s video had so many hits as this one. Dangerous as it is, some viewers’ curiosity was too strong to resist. They left messages describing the feelings they had while watching it. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 优秀范文 The next day we remembered the brand-new tent we had brought with us.But then we were half an hour away from the hotel, where the tentwas left behind. Dad recommended buying a new one, while Mom insisted on our going back to fetch it, saying "Forgetful people like me may lose things repeatedly, so it's unwise to give up the tent." Finally, we got back the tent and hit the road again. If Mom hadn't been that absent-minded, it would have saved us the trouble of going back again and again. We drove through several states and saw lots of great sights along the way. One day, towards evening, we found a great campingsite at the foot of a high mountain. Davidand I helped Dad put up the tent, and Mom was busy preparing supper. When the setting sun cast an orange light over the mountains, the tent was set up and the meal was ready. Sitting around the camp fire, we talked and laughed. Every time we mentioned the funny incidents of the journey a pleasant smile would spread over Mom's face. They said it was such a beautiful day that they would remember it forever.(such… that结构)。 例如:upon one's arrival, then, however, besides, while等。 It was at least two months before Christmas when nine-year-old Almie Rose told her father and me that she wanted a new bicycle. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ “What if I make a little bicycle out of clay (黏土)and she can trade it for a real one later?" my husband Ron thought. He also wrote a note that she could trade it for a real bike. "This is an expensive item and she is 'such a big girl,' it would be much better for her to pick it out." he thought. So he spent the next four hours painstakingly (尽心地) working with clay to make a tiny bike. Finally, his face expanded with a satisfied smile when he finished it. On Christmas morning, we were excited for Almie to open the package with the clay bike. Almie’s heart raced when she opened it and found the note. "Does this mean that I will trade this bike that Daddy made me for a real one?" Smiling, I said, "Yes." With tears in her eyes, she replied, "I could never trade in this beautiful bicycle that Daddy made me. I'd rather keep this than get a real bike." At that moment, we were too amazed to hear her response and her father hugged her tightly. 词汇激活: 制作:make/create/ craft 写:write/compose 挑选:pick out/select/ choose 满意的:satisfied/content/ pleased 惊讶的:amazed/astonished/ astounded 【点睛】 高分句型: 1.“He also wrote a note that she could trade it for a real bike.” (由 that 引导的同位语从句,解释说明 note 的内容) 2.“I could never trade in this beautiful bicycle that Daddy made me. I'd rather keep this than get a real bike.” (that 引导定语从句修饰 bicycle;“would rather...than...” 结构,表达孩子的选择) 。 Writing 02 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Seeing the United Parcel Truck pull into my driveway, I opened the garage door knowing that another package had arrived helping us with the Christmas in July Party we were putting together for the homeless children at a local charity. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 “We’ll get them later,” I told her. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: “We’ll get them later,” I told her. I just did not want to walk back down the stairs and unlock the garage door for a bunch of worthless weeds. Putting my hand onto her small shoulder, I began directing her back into the house. She stood there with tears welling up in her eyes. “These flowers are specially for my mommy and daddy,” she sobbed. All of a sudden, I realized that those baseball gloves were like gold to those homeless children just as those weeds were beautiful flowers to my granddaughter. I turned around, walked back to the end of the porch and opened the gate. Then I walked down the three stairs, took out my keys and opened the garage door. Wearing a shining smile on her face, Madison ran past me, grabbing the little treasures she had picked moments before. “Thank you, grandma, I love you!” she said. I knelt down, looked through the green, now lifeless weeds and smiled as I saw the beauty of a dozen beautiful red roses reflecting in her eyes. As is often the case, something valueless to adults means a lot to children. 词汇激活 行为类 ①回去:walk back /go back ②开始:begin /start ③看见:see/spot 情绪类 ①专门:specially / particularly ②美丽:beautiful /gorgeous 【点睛】[高分句型1] Putting my hand onto her small shoulder, I began directing her back into the house. Obviously, he was not happy about this. When Alice came back, Dad asked why she was doing Jeff’s jobs. Alice stuttered, “I....I just want to earn all the extra pocket money to buy that fossil in the shop.” “I’m sorry, Alice, I’m afraid you can’t. You all have to do the jobs -not just you. The point is that we share the jobs.” Dad said. Hearing what Dad said, Alice was taken hold of by a surge of disappointment mixed with sadness. She thought it was unfair that Dad just ignored her hard work. Paragraph 2: Later that morning, Mike and Jeff approached Alice when they found she was unhappy. They presented a small box and urged her to open it. Alice had no idea what was going on, but seeing her two brothers’ eyes twinkling with eagerness, she opened it. The moment she saw what was inside, Alice jumped up with joy. It was her brothers’ extra pocket money, with which she could afford one of the fossils she dreamed about! She threw her arms around her brothers, tears welling up in her eyes. Jeff said, “Dad told us your plan.” It dawned on Alice that Dad was trying to tell her that rules are rules but love between family members never fails. 情绪类 ①悲伤:sadness/sorrow ②高兴:joy/delight 【点睛】[高分句型1] When Alice came back, Dad asked why she was doing Jeff’s jobs. Cheerfully, the girls painted some paper decorations. With delight that had been absent for months, we started to add the things we bought from the supermarket around the Christmas tree. We put up the lights, hung the colorful balls and placed the paper angel on top. Finally, with a girl in each of my arms, we sat in the darkness, attracted by the bright Christmas tree lights. There was full of joy in our new home . The annual winter holiday became a family tradition. We'd feel complete with a Christmas tree in our house. For many years, we held our breath and experienced the familiar feeling up our arms when we placed the original paper angel on the top of each tree. Still, every Christmas Eve, my daughters and I talked about the unexpected joy that Christmas tree had brought us and about the special childhood memories at that time. 1.词汇激活 ◦行为类 ▪装饰:decorate/adorn/trim(如 “装饰圣诞树” 可表达为 decorate the Christmas tree/adorn the tree with ornaments) ▪悬挂:hang/suspend(如 “挂彩灯” 为 hang the colorful lights/suspend the lights on the tree) ▪保留:keep/preserve/retain(如 “保留纸天使” 为 keep the paper angel/preserve the original paper angel) ◦情绪类 ▪欢乐:joy/delight/cheer(如 “充满欢乐” 可表达为 full of joy/filled with delight) ▪温馨:warmth/affection(如 “温馨氛围” 为 warm atmosphere/affectionate mood) ▪缺失:absent/missing(如 “消失已久的喜悦” 为 delight that had been absent/missing joy) 1.高分句型 ◦“Cheerfully, the girls painted some paper decorations. With delight that had been absent for months, we started to add the things we bought from the supermarket around the Christmas tree.”(①副词 “Cheerfully” 开头,点明女儿们的情绪状态,增强句子节奏感;②“With delight that...” 介词短语作伴随状语,既交代 “装饰树” 的情绪背景,又通过定语从句 “that had been absent for months” 呼应前文失业后的低落,形成情绪对比,让情节更连贯) ◦“Finally, with a girl in each of my arms, we sat in the darkness, attracted by the bright Christmas tree lights.”(“with a girl in each of my arms” 为 with 复合结构,具象化 “相拥” 的场景;“attracted by...” 过去分词短语作后置定语,描绘全家被灯光吸引的专注状态,画面感极强,凸显温馨氛围) ◦“For many years, we held our breath and experienced the familiar feeling up our arms when we placed the original paper angel on the top of each tree.”(①“held our breath” 细节描写,体现对 “悬挂纸天使” 这一传统的珍视;②“when” 引导的时间状语从句,将 “动作(放纸天使)” 与 “情感(熟悉触感)” 绑定,让 “传统” 不再是抽象概念,而是可感知的情感载体) ◦“Still, every Christmas Eve, my daughters and I talked about the unexpected joy that Christmas tree had brought us and about the special childhood memories at that time.”(“that” 引导的定语从句修饰 “unexpected joy”,清晰交代 “谈论” 的具体内容,同时通过 “and about...” 的并列结构,将 “即时欢乐” 与 “长远回忆” 关联,深化 “圣诞树象征家庭记忆” 的主题) Writing 07 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Seeing the United Parcel Truck pull into my driveway, I opened the garage door knowing that another package had arrived helping us with the Christmas in July Party we were putting together for the homeless children at a local charity. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 “We’ll get them later,” I told her. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I turned around, walked back to the end of the porch and opened the gate. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: “We’ll get them later,” I told her. 注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Paragraph 1: Without explaining the situation, Jessie ran back to the hotel. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: The man was still there. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Without explaining the situation, Jessie ran back to the hotel. As soon as Jessie saw the receptionist she burst into tears. She told her the embarrassing situation in the pub and the receptionist burst into laughter. She said that she shouldn’t have worried too much since she had found she ordered her hotel. Jessie ran to her room and wallet as soon as possible. She must go back to the pub or she would be regarded as a cheat. Luckily the pub was near and soon Jessie got there. The man was still there. When he saw Jessie again he was completely puzzled. He stood up but didn’t know what to say. Jessie smiled and told him the situation which made him burst into laughter too. But he jokingly told Jessie “If I hadn’t proposed an offer of beer, you wouldn’t have realized that you hadn’t bring money with you. So treat me to two beers please!” They both laughed. Of course they became friends. 看见:see/meet/come across ②.返回:go back/return 【情绪类】 ①.尴尬的:embarrassing/awkward ②.困惑的:puzzled/confused 【点睛】 [高分句型1].She said that she shouldn’t have worried too much since she had found she ordered her hotel.(由that引导的宾语从句和since引导的状语从句) [高分句型2].Jessie smiled and told him the situation which made him burst into laughter too. Ramona turned off the light. The jack-o’-lantern was smiling with a flickering flame. “Wow!” Ramona threw her arms around her father before going to bed with great satisfaction. 注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Paragraph 1: In the middle of the night Ramona awoke to a noise. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph2: On the table their jack-o’-lantern no longer had a whole face. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ In the middle of the night, Ramona awoke to a noise. Ramona turned on the light and jumped out of bed angrily. It turned out that the cat accidentally bumped the jack-o’-lantern to the floor while catching mice. It was broken. Looking at her beloved jack-o-lantern lying on the floor, the candle in it went out, Ramona began to cry. Mr. Quimby was also woken up, got up to comfort Ramona and helped her take the jack-o’-lantern to the table. On the table their jack-o’-lantern no longer had a whole face. Ramona continued to cry, and dad decided to carve the pumpkin again. He picked up the knife and carved along the incomplete face of the pumpkin. The incomplete face became funnier, and the lantern laughed more brightly. Dad said, “Ramona, don't cry. Look at your pumpkin lantern. It’s alive again.” Ramona dried her tears and smiled with greater satisfaction. 1.词汇激活 ◦行为类 ▪吵醒:wake up/awaken/rouse ▪撞翻:bump over/knock over/upset ▪修复:repair/fix/restore ▪雕刻:carve/chisel/sculpt ◦情绪类 ▪生气的:angry/annoyed/irritated ▪难过的:sad/upset/grieved ▪满意的:satisfied/content/pleased 1.高分句型 ◦“It turned out that the cat accidentally bumped the jack-o’-lantern to the floor while catching mice.”(由 it turned out that 引导的主语从句,交代南瓜灯损坏的原因;while 引导的时间状语从句,补充猫咪撞翻南瓜灯时的动作,使情节更完整) ◦“Looking at her beloved jack-o-lantern lying on the floor, the candle in it went out, Ramona began to cry.”(现在分词短语 “Looking at...” 作伴随状语,描绘 Ramona 看到南瓜灯损坏时的状态,生动展现她的难过情绪,增强画面感) ◦“He picked up the knife and carved along the incomplete face of the pumpkin. The incomplete face became funnier, and the lantern laughed more brightly.”(连贯的动作描写与拟人手法结合,“the lantern laughed more brightly” 将南瓜灯拟人化,既体现修复后南瓜灯的活泼形态,也暗示 Ramona 情绪的好转) / 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
