故填that。
故填was added。
有影响”应用have an effect on。故填on。
故填a。

If you thought that your child’s academic performance is based simply on the number of hours spent on studying, you are wrong. Good grades are a result of many factors, everything from the child’s brains to the environment they are in. And one of the major, mostly ignored, influencing factors’ is physical health. Physical activity and health actually can improve a person’s ability to learn. According to the National Academy of Medicine, exercise can improve a child’s cognitive (认知的) abilities, health, and academic performance significantly.
According to a study by the University of British Columbia, regular aerobic (有氧的) exercise betters the functioning of the hippocampus, the area of the brain involved in learning and memory. Other forms of exercise like balance exercises, muscle exercises, and resistance training did not have the same result on the brain.
The effect of exercise on memory and thinking is both direct and indirect. Directly, regular exercise gives the ability to increase the release of growth factors. These growth factors are chemicals in the brain that affect the growth. The growth of new blood vessels, the health of brain cells, as well as the survival of new brain cells. On the other hand, getting enough exercise will improve sleep quality and mood. It will also reduce stress and anxiety.
It is believed that the benefits of exercise during the school day are greater than those coming from increasing class time. Furthermore, the greatest cognitive benefits from physical education have been seen to come about when physical education was given either in the first half of the day or midday rather than at the end of the day.
In order to get the children moving, rest time, PE classes, biking or walking to school should be promoted, Activities like after-school sports that used to be held at school should be restarted. Physical activity should not be seen as a dispensable option but as an important educational concern.
1.What factor is often forgotten when it comes to good grades?
A.Child’s High IQ. B.A good environment.
C.Physical health. D.The hours spent on learning.
2.Which of the following exercises is best for learning and memory?
A.Regular aerobic exercise. B.Balance exercise.
C.Muscle exercise. D.Resistance training.
3.How does exercise influence thinking indirectly?
A.By releasing growth factors in large numbers.
B.By influencing the growth of new blood vessels.
C.By affecting the survival of new brain cells.
D.By improving a person’s mood and sleep quality.
4.What is the passage mainly about?
A.Mental health should never be ignored.
B.Physical education class is really a good option.
C.Exercise may contribute to good academic grades.
D.Different exercises have different results on the brain.
【答案】1.C 2.A 3.D 4.C

Felicia’s father Herminio, in Florida, has to rely on dialysis (透析) to keep him alive as he waits for a kidney donation (捐赠). The poor man is battling stage-5 kidney disease, and has to have a transplant (移植).
Felicia noted that she and her father had always been close, even after she moved to Kansas when she was 13 years old. She added that the distance between them had become especially difficult because of his illness.
The waiting list could take months. Instead of letting her father wait for a long time, Felicia secretly went through the testing process to see if she could be a match for his organ donation. “It’s so amazing to me that I can help save a life — and it’s my dad’s,” Felicia said. The father-daughter duo (二人组) are currently going through the final stages of tests to make sure that she can proceed (继续进行) with the organ donation.
While Felicia’s donation will most likely save her father’s life, the family have to face another problem. Herminio’s insurance (保险) will cover the expenses of his surgery but not the additional costs for his medication and recovery. The father-daughter duo (二人组) are currently going through the final stages of tests to make sure that she can proceed (继续进行) with the organ donation.(为了不让父亲长时间等待,费莉西亚悄悄完成了配型检测,想看看自己是否能成为他的器官捐献匹配者。
The unforgiving demands of the IB program became my reality on the third day of school with an overwhelming physics lab. My teacher’s claim that no one would score above 90% shook my confidence. This anxiety was intensified at home, where my father voiced his concerns over my flat SAT progress, a necessity for a celebrated university.
The final catalyst for my breakdown was an unexpected rejection from the Regional Red Cross Youth Council. As vice president of my school’s chapter, I had never considered this possibility. The Red Cross was my passion and what I relied on to set me apart from other applicants. This rejection made my future seem dim, and I broke like a rubber band stretched beyond its limit.
I found my mother, the woman who had sacrificed her own career and life for my opportunities, and poured out my fears. She listened attentively before drawing a circle on the tablecloth. “This is your time,” she began. “Eighty percent is schoolwork, ten percent the SAT, and ten percent extracurriculars.” She then looked at me with deep emotion and said, “But most importantly, at one hundred percent, is your mental health.”
“Nothing is more important than your health,” she continued. “We want you to have a good job so you’ll be less stressed. If this path makes you so unhappy, it isn’t worth it. If you’re happier flipping hamburgers, so be it.”
Her insight was a big relief. I realized a rubber band doesn’t have to keep stretching. A rubber band that wraps around your hair during the day and is allowed to rest on your nightstand at night won’t ever break.
Though my routine remained the same — studying hard and pursuing excellence — my perspective was forever changed. The fear of failure lost its power. I am still reaching for the moon, but I am no longer afraid. For I know that if I miss, I will land right in my mother’s arms.

根据第二段中的“The final catalyst for my breakdown was an unexpected rejection from the Regional Red Cross Youth Council. As vice president of my school’s chapter, I had never considered this possibility. The Red Cross was my passion and what I relied on to set me apart from other applicants. This rejection made my future seem dim, and I broke like a rubber band stretched beyond its limit.(导致我崩溃的最后一个catalyst是地区红十字会青年理事会意外的拒绝。作为我校分会的副会长,我从未想过这种可能性。红十字会是我的热爱,也是我赖以区别于其他申请者的优势。这次拒绝让我的未来变得暗淡,我像一根被拉过极限的橡皮筋一样崩溃了。)”可知,红十字会的拒绝是让作者最终崩溃的又一个因素,故“catalyst”意为“原因,诱因”,与“Cause”含义相近。故选D项。
2.细节理解题。根据第三段中的“She then looked at me with deep emotion and said, “But most importantly, at one hundred percent, is your mental health.”(然后她深情地看着我说:“但最重要的是,这百分之百里,是你的心理健康。”)”以及第四段中的“Nothing is more important than your health,” she continued.(“没有什么比你的健康更重要,”她继续说道。)” 故选A项。

I realized a rubber band doesn’t have to keep stretching. A rubber band that wraps around your hair during the day and is allowed to rest on your nightstand at night won’t ever break.(她的见解让我如释重负。
根据最后一段中的“Though my routine remained the same — studying hard and pursuing excellence — my perspective was forever changed. The fear of failure lost its power. I am still reaching for the moon, but I am no longer afraid. For I know that if I miss, I will land right in my mother’s arms.(虽然我的日常没有改变——努力学习、追求卓越——但我的观念已经永远改变了。对失败的恐惧失去了力量。我仍然在reaching for the moon,但我不再害怕了。因为我知道,如果我没做到,我会正好落在妈妈的怀里。)”可知,作者依然保持努力学习、追求卓越的状态,只是不再害怕失败,故“reaching for the moon”指“继续树立高远目标并为之努力”,即“aim high”。故选B项。
My 10-year-old Donna said, “Mom, I made a new friend at school today. Can she come over tomorrow?” Donna was a shy girl and I wanted her to make some friends to bring her out of her shell.
“Sure, honey, that sounds great,” I said, thinking back to my own best friend, Lillian. We lived across the street from each other in Washington Heights, New York. We met at the age of 10, too. Like my daughter, I was shy, but Lillian drew me out. She was one of the friendliest people in school, with shiny black hair and a mile-wide smile.
In senior high school, Lillian went on a trip to Florida. This was the first time we had to be away from each other for a few days. “I’ll be back soon,” she told me. But three days later, Lillian’s sister told me that she had fallen into a river and hadn’t come out any more. Soon, my family moved to New Jersey. Whenever I thought of her, tears came into my eyes.
The next day Donna brought her new friend home. “Hi, Mrs Loggia,” the little girl said. Her hair was so shiny and black and she shot me a big smile. “My name is Laura.”
My daughter’s new friend was so much like Lillian. I was still puzzled (迷惑) when Laura’s mom came to pick her up later that afternoon. I opened the door to let her in. “Judy!” she cried. “It’s me, Lillian’s sister, from Washington Heights.” Yes, my daughter’s friend looked familiar. She was Lillian’s niece (侄女).
1.Who is the author’s daughter?

划线词组是目的状语,根据上文“Donna was a shy girl and I wanted her to make some friends (Donna是个害羞的女孩,我想让她交一些朋友)”及常识可知,作者想让害羞的Donna交些朋友,这样做的目的是为了让女儿不再害羞。由此可知,划线词组to bring her out of her shell的意思是“帮助她变得不那么害羞”。故选A。
根据第二段中的“Like my daughter, I was shy, but Lillian drew me out. She was one of the friendliest people in school, with shiny black hair and a mile-wide smile.(和我女儿一样,我很害羞,但Lillian把我拉了出来。她是学校里最友好的人之一,有着闪亮的黑发和灿烂的笑容)”及第四段中的“Her hair was so shiny and black and she shot me a big smile.(她的头发又黑又亮,她给了我一个大大的微笑)”可推知,因为Laura有着跟Lillian一样乌黑的秀发和灿烂的微笑,所以作者认为Laura有似曾相识的感觉。故选D。

There is a time when many Americans question whether a college degree is worth its cost. However, a recent study found Americans who completed college or university are more likely to have friends and are less lonely than those who only finished high school.
Daniel Cox, director of the Survey Center on American Life, said that in general Americans are experiencing a “friend recession”, meaning a decline in their number of friends. Cox noted, “Americans have fewer close friends today than we did in the early 1990s. But men and those without a college degree are particularly affected because they seem to have experienced a much more dramatic decline over that period.”
The Center questioned 5, 054 people this past summer. It found Americans with a college degree feel more socially connected and are more active in their communities than people who didn’t go to college. As a result, those who completed college report feeling less lonely.
Previous research showed that Americans who didn’t go to college are less likely to marry. A 2012 study found that college-educated women are much more likely to get married than women who dropped out of high school. A 2013 study of people born between 1957 and 1964 found that both men and women who didn’t finish high school are less likely to marry than those with more education.
Today, 65 percent of college-educated Americans over age 25 are married. About 50 percent of people with a high school diploma, or who dropped out of high school, are married. Those numbers were different in 1990, when marriage rates among the college graduates were at 69 percent, compared with 63 percent for those who did not go to college, says a Pew research report.
The American Community Life Survey found around 1 in 10 college graduates say they have no close social connections. That number rises among Americans without a degree, where almost 1 in 4 say they have no close friends.
1.When was the study carried out according to the passage?
A.When psychological problems arose sharply.
B.When the number of college graduates declined.
C.When Americans experienced a friend recession.
D.When concerns about college costs appeared.
2.Why are some studies mentioned in paragraph 4?
A.To provide evidence for the research. B.To analyze the reasons for loneliness.
C.To show the importance of marriage. D.To compare differences in generations.
3.In which column of a magazine may this passage appear?
A.Entertainment. B.Education. C.Technology. D.Health.
4.What is the passage mainly about?
A.Social problems in the American society.
B.Reasons for Americans’ low marriage rates.
C.Links between education and social interaction.
D.Discussions about whether to get a college degree.
【答案】1.D 2.A 3.B 4.D

There’s a large number of questions and concerns about the appearance of eggs. Any slight cloud, strange white wrinkles, different colored shell, or red spots, and we take pause. In fact, they’re all perfectly safe to eat, and don’t even substantially change the taste.
One odd occurrence: Seeing a completely white or incredibly light-yellow yolk (蛋黄). Often, it is enough to drive you to Google search or call your mom to double-check if it’s OK to consume. The good news is that you don’t need to throw away that fried egg from the pan. Coming across a white yolk is perfectly natural, though it’s a little rare in the United States.
The color of your egg yolk depends on the feed of the chickens. In the U. S. , chickens typically eat a diet of yellow corn, and the pigments (色素) from the plant make their way into the egg yolks. Those pigments are also what give chicken skin and fat its yellowish color. If the chicken happens to eat more white corn than yellow, the yolk will be paler as well.
If you’ve traveled overseas, you’ve probably noticed that the color of yolks varies widely across the globe. Again. this difference comes down to what the chickens are eating. In many African countries, for example, chickens typically have a diet of mostly sorghum, a grain with much less yellow pigmentation than yellow corn, resulting in lighter. or completely white yolks. In South American countries, you will notice pink, blood orange. or almost reddish yolks, because their chicken feed is rich in red seeds.
In the U. S. , many people falsely associate darker yolks with happier hens or higher nutrition. Farmers can easily manipulate the chicken feed to include carrots, alfalfa (苜蓿) powder, or red seeds to determine the color of their chickens’ eggs.
1.Why are people so concerned about the appearance of eggs?
A.It affects the prices. B.It is related to food safety.
C.It is linked with their nutrition. D.It determines the color of yolk.
2.How do people find a white yolk according to Paragraph 2?
A.Abnormal. B.Delicious. C.Fresh. D.Natural.
3.What affects the color of the egg yolk most?
A.The food hens eat. B.The color of the hens.
C.The type of the hens. D.The freshness of the eggs.
4.Why do farmers add alfalfa powder or red seeds to the feed of chickens?
A.To cut down the farm costs. B.To make their eggs easily preserved.
C.To promote their eggs’ attraction. D.To improve the health of chickens.
【答案】1.B 2.A 3.A 4.C
根据第一段“There’s a large number of questions and concerns about the appearance of eggs. Any slight cloud, strange white wrinkles, different colored shell, or red spots, and we take pause. In fact, they’re all perfectly safe to eat, and don’t even substantially change the taste.(人们对鸡蛋的外观有很多疑问和担忧。任何轻微的阴影,奇怪的白色皱纹,不同颜色的外壳,或红色的斑点,我们都会停下来。事实上,它们吃起来都非常安全,甚至不会显著改变味道。)”可知,人们如此关注鸡蛋的外观是因为与食品安全有关。故选B。
2.推理判断题。根据第二段“One odd occurrence: Seeing a completely white or incredibly light-yellow yolk (蛋黄). Often, it is enough to drive you to Google search or call your mom to double-check if it’s OK to consume.(一个奇怪的现象:看到一个完全白色或令人难以置信的淡黄色的蛋黄。通常情况下,这足以驱使你去谷歌搜索或打电话给你妈妈确认是否可以消费)”可知,碰到白色的蛋黄人们会去谷歌搜索或打电话给妈妈确认是否可以消费,可得出人们认为白色的蛋黄是不正常的。故选A。
根据第三段“The color of your egg yolk depends on the feed of the chickens. In the U. S. , chickens typically eat a diet of yellow corn, and the pigments (色素) from the plant make their way into the egg yolks. Those pigments are also what give chicken skin and fat its yellowish color. If the chicken happens to eat more white corn than yellow, the yolk will be paler as well.(蛋黄的颜色取决于鸡的饲料。在美国,鸡通常以黄色玉米为食,玉米中的色素会进入蛋黄。这些色素也是使鸡皮和脂肪呈现黄色的原因。如果鸡肉碰巧吃的白玉米比黄玉米多,蛋黄也会更浅)”可知,母鸡吃的食物对蛋黄的颜色影响最大。故选A。
根据最后一段“In the U. S. , many people falsely associate darker yolks with happier hens or higher nutrition. Farmers can easily manipulate the chicken feed to include carrots, alfalfa (苜蓿) powder, or red seeds to determine the color of their chickens’ eggs.(在美国,许多人错误地将深色蛋黄与更快乐的母鸡或更高的营养联系在一起。农民可以很容易地操纵鸡饲料,加入胡萝卜、苜蓿粉或红色种子,以确定他们的鸡蛋的颜色)”可知,农民要在鸡的饲料中加入苜蓿粉或红籽是为了提高鸡蛋的吸引力,让消费者购买。故选C。
I learnt an important lesson from one of my patients. When I first met Linda, she was only six years old, beautiful and energetic. She had an accident when she fell into the fire on a camping trip, leaving30%of her skin surface damaged.
Linda would require several weeks in the hospital and three additional surgeries. Between each operation, nurses daily took her for disinfection (消毒).
Overnight, the dressings (敷料) would stick to the wound and have to be pulled away. Each step was more painful for Linda than the previous one. For an adult, the agonizing (折磨人的) pain and daily fear prove overwhelming. For a child, it has an impact forever. Linda’s life would never be the same.
I took care of Linda for the next several years, treating her scars and freeing areas of tightness in her face and neck. Over that time, her scars faded and her appearance improved significantly. Eventually, her family moved away and I lost track of her.
Years later, at a national meeting, I ran into a plastic surgeon I knew who told me he had met a former patient of mine. It was Linda. She was doing extremely well and she was his colleague and not his patient. Linda had become a nurse and worked with him in a burn unit.
She was the nurse the patients most often asked to clean their wounds and change their dressings. Her compassion (同情心) and her courage in returning to a burn unit inspired their confidence and reduced their fears. Linda turned her pain into compassion. She devoted every day of her life towards helping others overcome their pain.
Physicians can be frustrated and overwhelmed when we don’t have enough time in a day to complete everything we need to do. Linda taught me the importance of slowing down. Among the best gifts we, as physicians, can give our patients, whether in the exam room or at the bedside in the hospital, is to take the time to show the compassion we feel.
1.Which of the following words can best describe Linda according to the story?
A.Outspoken. B.Well-behaved. C.Painful. D.Strong-minded.
2.What step could cause unbearable pain for Linda?
A.Pulling away the dressings. B.Going through disinfection.
C.Treating the scars. D.Freeing the areas of tightness.
3.What can help doctors reduce their patients’ fears according to the passage?
A.Experience. B.Patience. C.Compassion. D.Friendliness.
4.What can we infer from the passage?
A.Linda was thankful for the author’s compassion.
B.Linda was mostly trusted by her colleagues.
C.Linda’s experience led her to be a nurse.
D.Gifts make patients confident in operations.
【答案】1.D 2.A 3.C 4.C

根据文章第三段“Overnight, the dressings (敷料) would stick to the wound and have to be pulled away. Each step was more painful for Linda than the previous one. For an adult, the agonizing (折磨人的) pain and daily fear prove overwhelming. For a child, it has an impact forever. Linda’s life would never be the same.
根据文章第三段中的“Overnight, the dressings (敷料) would stick to the wound and have to be pulled away. Each step was more painful for Linda than the previous one.(一夜之间,敷料就会粘在伤口上,必须把它拿开。琳达每走一步都比前一步更痛苦。)”可知,用来保护伤口的敷料在夜里会粘在伤口上,揭开敷料的过程对琳达来说十分痛苦,故去掉敷料可能会导致无法忍受的疼痛。故选A。
根据文章最后一段中的“Among the best gifts we, as physicians, can give our patients...is to take the time to show the compassion we feel.(作为医生,我们能给病人最好的礼物之一,无论是在检查室还是在医院的床边,就是花时间表达我们的同情。)”及倒数第二段中的“Her compassion (同情心) and her courage in returning to a burn unit inspired their confidence and reduced their fears.(她的同情和回到烧伤病房的勇气鼓舞了他们的信心,减少了他们的恐惧。)”
We all love eating out. But, is it bothering you because you are on a diet and have to dine with a friend? Sure, you will be concerned about the amount of calories, fat or salt in a restaurant’s menu items. 112
Choose the right place.
Always plan ahead when you know that you have to dine out. Look for the restaurants that serve delicious meals that are low in fat. 1 You’re more likely to overeat there. Once you’ve decided the place, get familiar with their food menu.Decide what you’re going to order before you go.
Start with a soup.
One easy approach to stick to your diet when eating out is starting with a soup. 2 This will keep you from sitting hungry and filling you up. A soup is the first course that you order when eating out.
3
Salt improves food’s flavour and is often used heavily in restaurant meals. When you dine out, ask the attendant to prepare food without added salt. Ask about the ingredients to see if there are items that may be higher in salt. Moreover, it is better to limit the use of condiments (调料) such as mustard, ketchup, pickle and sauces as they may contain salt that you don’t need. Instead of salty appetisers (开胃小吃), choose fruit and vegetable salad.
Don’t eat it all.
4 To avoid overeating, you can split a meal with a companion or put half the meal in a plate and leave the rest.
Sticking to a healthy diet doesn’t mean you have to turn down everyone’s offer when asked to eat out.
A.You have to be very particular about serving sizes when dining out.
B.Just make sure you make healthier choices.
C.Avoid eating at places that offer all-you-can-eat buffets (自助餐).
D.Here are four tips for eating out while you are on a diet.
E.Cut the salt intake.
F.Avoid eating too much.
G.Order vegetable or bean-based but avoid cream-based soups.
【答案】1.D 2.C 3.G 4.E 5.A

结合下文“To avoid overeating, you can split a meal with a companion or put half the meal in a plate and leave the rest.(为了避免吃得过多,你可以和同伴分享一顿饭,或者把一半的饭放在盘子里,剩下的放在一边。)” A“You have to be very particular about serving sizes when dining out.(外出就餐时,你必须对食物的份量非常讲究。)” 故选A。
How to avoid fighting with your family on your summer vacation?
If you have a trip coming up on this summer vacation and are concerned there’s going to be an intergenerational blow-up (发脾气), don’t worry. 117
Think about what gets you upset ahead of time. 1 For instance, when your cousin often does that thing where he goes on and on about how much money he makes. Research shows that when you have low expectations of another person’s behavior, you’re more likely to give them a pass when they act in an annoying or problematic way.
2 To avoid feeling stuck in a shitty situation, Lucas suggests coming prepared with an escape plan. “Figure out how you can exit the environment and get time with yourself” if you unexpectedly get triggered, he suggests. Go to work out in the fitness room for a half hour; camp out at a nearby coffee shop; take yourself on a solo walk. 3 If your relative isn’t buying your excuse, say you need to grab a new room key, use the bathroom, or want to check out the temperature of the ocean.
Have an exit strategy. If so, you don’t collapse (like you have in the past) when you butt heads with a family member. Space can allow you to slow down and tend to your own emotions and needs. 4 So you can have more patience and tolerance for your relatives (and all the shitty things they do) when you rejoin them.
A.Have an escape plan.
B.Or pretend you need to take a nap.
C.Family vacations are always full of unexpected surprises.
D.Here are some strategies that can help you keep a cool head.
E.You should communicate your feelings with your family members.
F.Being aware of the potential conflicts that lie ahead can soften the blow.
G.When you can physically remove yourself from a stressful situation, you can reset.
【答案】1.D 2.F 3.A 4.B 5.G

It is more often a challenge to make learning appear fun to your students. If traditional ways of learning aren’t engaging them, it is time to think outside of the box. 122
1 If you assume all students learn in the same way, you are absolutely wrong. As teachers, evaluate the specific needs of each student. Determine if they have trouble sitting still. Examine how they learn the best—are they auditory (听觉的) learners, visual learners, or physical learners? Use the knowledge to structure your lesson plans.
Get involved in your students’ learning. When the students are studying or taking part in an educational activity, join in. It allows you to model study habits and the feeling of joy when learning something new. 2 ,they will assume that the activity is simply not worth your time.
Create hands-on learning opportunities. Students remember information better when both their hands and brains are busy. 3 . For example, you can group students by interests and provide them with activities that let them explore a topic in a way that engage them. The active, auditory and visual learners will benefit much in the progress.
4 When students are placed in charge of their own learning and the learning of others, they are encouraged to learn the material as thoroughly as possible. So have students work in pairs or small groups. Instead of asking you for help, they will rely on each other or solve any problem they meet with.
A.If they suspect that you did not enjoy the activity
B.Structure students’ learning plan to meet their needs
C.Provide students with opportunities to teach each other
D.Promote independent and self-paced learning for everyone

After starting high school, I felt stressed out and always relaxed by staying up to play phone games. As a result, I lacked energy and passion in the daytime.
But now I have made up my mind to change this situation. I will arrange the time of using my mobile phone reasonably. Instead, I will read some relaxing books and take a warm bath before going to bed, which may help me get a sound sleep. I believe I will become energetic again and enjoy my study and life as before.

Dear Lucy,
I’m sorry to hear that your best friend has tricked you. I’d like to offer you some advice.
Before making a decision, you’d better think the whole thing through. If your friend really tricked you on purpose, it’s time for you to let go of your friendship. First of all, a good friend is a person you can trust. Secondly, when you get into trouble, your friend will try to help you out. That is, a good friend should be helpful. Thirdly, a good friend should be understanding. Whenever you feel sad or lonely, he/she is willing to spare some time to keep you company.
I hope that you will find a truly good friend, who will also value you very much.
Yours,
Li Hua

Dear Robert,
I’m sorry to hear that you had a quarrel with your father and that you two haven’t spoken for days. It’s tough to be caught in such silence, especially with someone so close.
Arguments over trivial things happen to every family. I’m sure your father is feeling upset too — perhaps even waiting for a chance to reconnect. Why not take that first step? You could offer a sincere apology when the moment feels right. A small gesture, like making him a cup of tea, could also gently open the door to talking again.
I’m certain he’ll meet your kindness with forgiveness. With patience and courage, you two will soon bridge the distance and grow even closer.
Yours,

Dear Doris,
I totally get why you’re confused about balancing study and hobbies — many of us face this problem too! It’s normal to feel stuck when both need time.
Here are a few tips. First, make a weekly schedule: mark study hours for key tasks like homework or exams, and leave small blocks for hobbies, like 30 minutes of painting after finishing homework. Second, set priorities — if there’s a test coming up, cut hobby time temporarily, but don’t give it up entirely. This way, you won’t fall behind in study or lose your joy.
Hope this helps!

And when lack of sleep 7 (add) to the mix, the likelihood of an early death was nearly five times 8 (great) even though lack of sleep by itself had only a light effect 9 death.

Felicia and her family created the GoFundMe page in hopes of raising $30,000 for the expenses not covered by Herminio’s insurance.

E.Catch their attention with individualized and creative methods
F.If they don’t find any pleasure while getting involved in the activity
G.This is accomplished by activities that require students to talk, listen and move

It was a cool autumn morning when the school announced the annual sports day. For most students, it was a day of excitement and joy, but for me, it was just another event I wanted to avoid. I had always been the type to shy away from group activities, preferring the company of my books and thoughts.
Our class monitor, Sarah, noticed my unwillingness. She was the very image of enthusiasm and leadership, always trying to bring the class together. One day, she approached me during lunch. “Why don’t you join us for the relay race? It’ll be fun,” she said with a warm smile. I hesitated, but her perseverance was hard to ignore.
The next day, Sarah organized a practice session. I unwillingly joined, feeling out of place among my more athletic classmates. As we ran, I tripped and the baton (接力棒) fell, with my knee scraped (擦伤). Embarrassed, I wanted to quit, but Sarah was there in an instant, offering a hand and words of encouragement. “It’s okay, we’re a team,” she said. At this time, other fellow classmates came to encourage me. Their kindness made me feel less alone.
As the days went by, I found myself looking forward to the practices. The care and support among my classmates was touching. I began to see the value of teamwork and the joy of shared experiences. My initial unwillingness melted away, replaced by a newfound sense of belonging.
The anticipation for the sports day filled me with excitement. I dreamed of the cheers, the applauding crowd, and the excitement of competition. Training hard, I desired to show my skills, push my limits, share and feel the joy of victory. This event was more than a game; it meant a lot for me. I could not wait to be part of it!

“Surprise!” was the first thing I heard when I opened the door. My family and friends were all smiling at me. There were colorful balloons all over the house, a big poster saying “HAPPY BIRTHDAY”, and of course a cake with 16 candles. It was a wonderful feeling. I knew that I had finally turned 16 and I might possibly get the thing I wanted most.
I saw my mom and dad coming towards me with a small box which seemed to be a birthday present. When I opened the box, I couldn’t believe my eyes. I had really gotten a mobile phone! Throwing myself into their arms, I let out a cry of joy, “Thank you! I love you guys!”
“You’re welcome. We knew this was going to make you happy but we didn’t only get you this because you turned sixteen, but also because you are doing well in school. We expect you to keep getting good grades. ”
“Of course, I will.” I said confidently.
As soon as I got to school the next morning, I was showing off my phone and asking everyone for their number. It was cool how I got so many contacts on the first day.
It felt like I didn’t even exist in that class anymore. I wouldn’t pay much attention to the teachers because I was too busy on my phone. However, I didn’t get caught using it.
I am pretty sure that the teacher did notice that I stopped paying attention to her because a week later we took a test and I failed. What was worse, my mom had to sign (签字) the test.
It was hard to show my mom the test paper. She was used to seeing A’s and B’s on my tests. Finally, I showed it to her, and she couldn’t believe it. She was angry but most of all, she was disappointed.注意:
