After Sara’s grandmother died, her family chose something of hers to keep to remember her. As Sara lived far away, her mother picked things out for her—a tablecloth, a mirror, and an old pot. Sara kept these things, but she didn’t use them much, The tablecloth didn’t fit her tables. She didn’t like the color of the mirror frame (镜框), and the pot was too small and old.
Sara’s life changed when she read something in a book: Don’t keep anything in your house that you don’t find useful or beautiful. That’s right. “But what about sentimental (情感的) things like heirlooms? They’re beautiful if they remind us of good times with loved ones,” Sara thought.
Sara decided to give these things a fresh start. She painted the mirror frame a different color to go with her daughter’s room. Although Sara’s daughter never met her grandmother, they share a connection through the mirror. Sara bought a table to go with her grandmother’s tablecloth.
