A food company examined buyers' behaviour globally across hundreds of stores. According to experts from the company, our plates look very colourful, with purple foods particularly in fashion. This is indeed the case. Walk through any supermarket and you will find purple foods are showing up on the shelves: purple cauliflowers(花椰菜), purple sweet potatoes and purple cabbages. The increasing popularity of purple foods in the market is unsurprising, showing how attentive people have become to health in recent years. People have long known that the darker the colour of a food is, the more antioxidants(抗氧化物质) and nutrients it will have. In fact, people were encouraged to eat more purple foods after a study found that those who ate purple fruits and vegetables regularly usually had low cholesterol(胆固醇) levels and a reduced risk of getting high blood pressure. Research shows that these foods get their purple colour from the anthocyanin(花青素). They have been linked with antioxidants and anti-aging special qualities in the body. Purple foods help improve bone health, lower the risk of some cancers and improve memory. Take purple sweet potatoes for example. While the standard sweet potato is packed with health benefits of its own,the purple sweet potato is even better for us. These brightly-coloured sweet potatoes share the same taste as their orange siblings, but are also filled with the anthocyanin. Therefore, purple sweet potatoes help with digestion and have anti-inflammatory(消炎的) special qualities. Nutrition advisers agree that purple foods are full of natural health benefits. “The benefits of antioxidants have long been discussed. They are also known to fight disease, keep you looking younger and be good for your heart—— so, why not eat them?” one says. ( )16. According to nutrition experts, we should eat all kinds of colorful foods often . A. because richly-coloured foods are popular in supermarkets B. though vitamin and mineral supplements can replace them C. as they can provide us with vitamins and minerals that we need D. because people have taken notice of the importance of health these years ( )17 All of the following have made the purple foods popular in recent years EXCEPT .
