If you are to visit Beijing Olympic Forest Park, what activities would you like to take part in?
6
Have you ever been to a city park? If so, tell something about it.
I have been to the Summer Palace (颐和园) in Beijing. During the summer vacation my father and I paid a visit to it. It is the largest and the best preserved imperial gardens (御花园) in China. First, we climbed up the Longevity Hill (万寿山) where we had a fascinating view. Then we came to Kunming Lake, which looks like a beautiful picture. It is a good idea to escape the summer heat by the lake.
Look at the passage on page 29 about Xixi National Wetland Park, if your friends and you are to visit there, what activities would you like to take part in? How do you organize your visit to all these places in the park?
A rent a cycle B walk through an underwater corridor
C rent a pedal boat D watch a fountain performance
E go on a children’s ride F look at flowers

Sample conversation
A: Excuse me.
B: Yes, how can I help you?
A: I hear that this park has a very nice flower meadow. I was wondering if you could tell me how to find it?
B: Oh, you mean Flower Land? It’s in the northwest corner of the north park.
A: It sounds pretty far from here.
B: Yes, it is. It’s about two and a half kilometres from here on foot but it’s a lovely walk if you have the time.
A: But it’s getting late. I was really hoping to see it while the sun was still shining.
B: True, here’s what you can do, you can take the underground. The Forest Park South Gate underground station is right over there. Go north one stop to the Lincuiqiao underground station. Walk north about eight hundred meters, and you’ll see the park entrance on your right. Enter the park and walk about another four hundred meters. You will see a path leading to Flower Land on your right. It’s just a short distance away from there.
A: It still seems like quite a cheap. Is it really worth it?
B: Oh yes, the sunflowers are still in full bloom right now.
A: Thank you so much.
B: You’re welcome.

In my opinion, BioBlitz is both fun and meaningful. It gives people an opportunity to get close to living things in nature and study them so that they can be better protected.
I don’t really like BioBlitz. The animals and insects are living a peaceful life there and they should not be disturbed. I don’t think the participants in the video are showing enough respect for them.
How do you feel about BioBlitz?

I think there is a lot of biodiversity in my town because there are mountains, a lake, and plenty of parks and green space.
Behind my home there is a large park which is filled with trees. There are all sorts of plants and insects there, but not so many other animals. It is a good place to take a walk, or to sit and enjoy the view of the nearby lake.
