About the ride Day 1 Your journey begins with the Kokopelli Trail. As you ride, the terrain shifts beneath your wheels, changing from rugged canyons to open desert areas. The path through high mountain passes offers breathtaking views that serve as an introduction to the natural masterpiece that is Moab. Day 2 Prepare for the peak of your adventure — the White Rim Trail. This off-road journey leads you through the famous canyons of Canyonlands National Park. You can ride across the rocky landscape, and the White Rim Trail provides a true experience of the natural masterpiece of Moab, with each turn revealing a new aspect of its breathtaking beauty. Day 3 After finishing the White Rim Trail, you’ll spend a day doing your own thing in Moab, where the adventure continues at your preferred speed. Explore the world-famous Arches National Park or the area along the Colorado River. Every rider can find the perfect way to experience this adventure capital. Day 4 Leaving Moab behind, the road takes you up into the La Sal Mountains once again. The roads guide you down from the high places, offering impressive views of the surrounding landscapes. As you drive along the road, the air becomes warmer, and the smell of pine gradually gives way to the familiar desert smell. Note For every rider, a full set of riding equipment is recommended but a helmet, eye protection, gloves and boots are required. Every ride has the possibility of bad weather ranging from rain and wind to snow. An individual satellite emergency communication device is recommended. For a more comprehensive list, please check out our Rider Expectations Page! 1. What can riders experience during the Kokopelli Trail? A. A diversity of wildlife. B. A bird’s-eye view of Moab. C. Rugged canyons all the way. D. Ever-changing landscapes of Moab. 2. On which day can riders enjoy the journey at their own pace? A. Day 1. B. Day 2. C. Day 3. D. Day 4. 3. What does the author emphasize at the end of the text? A. Safety considerations. B. Submission procedures. C. Expectations for the journey. D. Requirements for registration. B When I started my Ph. D. in cancer treatment, I was enthusiastic and curious about everything. I was determined to make a change. Like many other researchers, I conducted many experiments which involved using many disposable (一次性的) experimental materials. Gradually, I realized my work was generating a lot of waste, but I had accepted it as a necessary evil (罪恶). That all changed one day when I saw a huge pile of plastic waste — pipette boxes, tubes, packaging — piled against the wall. I went to my Ph. D. adviser and explained the idea of creating 3D printed lab tools out of some of our waste. She supported me and we secured funding to purchase recycling equipment and a dedicated 3D printer. Weeks later, I was quite depressed. The equipment required me to individually load each item to be recycled, which was incredibly time-consuming. It was also difficult to get the recycled material into a consistent shape that could be fed into the 3D printer. Luckily, my colleagues knew how committed I was to reducing the environmental footprint of our research. They were eager to brainstorm other ways to reduce our environmental footprint. In the following months, we introduced new recycling bins to each lab after learning that some of our plastic waste could be recycled if it was properly sorted. We also explored ways to reduce our use of plastic items. And we purchased meters (计量表) to track the energy consumption of various, pieces of lab equipment. Through those actions, we managed to turn off multiple freezers. We also increased the temperature of several ultra-low temperature freezers after realizing some samples didn’t have to be stored so cold. I’m still disappointed that I was not able to fully realize my 3D-printing vision and I am determined to keep trying. But I’ve learned that if one approach isn’t working, sometimes it’s best to take a step back and look for other solutions. I’m thankful that with the help of the academic community around me, we were able to do that. 4. What drove the author to create 3D printed lab tools? A. His curiosity about cancer treatment. B. His discontent with the growing waste. C. His willingness to relieve patients’ pains. D. His trouble in getting experimental materials. 5. What can we say about the author’s 3D-printing vision? A. It’s far from being practicable. B. It takes time to win others’ favor. C. It’s tailored for various lab wastes. D. It requires large financial investment. 6. What does Paragraph 4 focus on? A. The challenges of sorting different wastes. B. The routine tasks of the author’s research work. C. The effort put into making sustainable research. D. The importance of monitoring daily carbon footprints. 7. What can we learn from the author’s experience? A. We should always dream big. B. We must develop a flexible mind. C. We should build bonds with family. D. We should respect the fruits of others. C Dick Coffee attended 781 consecutive (连续的) University of Alabama football games. Meg Roh surfed through illness, storms, and nightfall to maintain a seven-year daily surfing streak An activity streak has a magic trick, often driving individuals to maintain consistency and pursue continuity, and marketers have apparently taken note of this. Marketing researchers Jackie Silverman and Alixandra Barasch recently documented 101 unique instances of apps that have integrated streaks into their architecture by allowing users to track the number of consecutive days on which they complete a task. People often engage in a repetitive way of acting in a given situation. Most people have habits, which are reflex-like and stimulated by the context. For example, many people mindlessly fasten their seat belts upon getting in a car. However, a streak often requires the actor to have a strategy for completing the activity in various situations or contexts. For example, someone with a streak of running at least 1 mile every day may need to carefully plan a run when traveling across time zones. Failing to perform a habitual behavior on occasion will have little impact on the likelihood of the person performing the behavior in the future. Contrarily, failing to perform a behavior that is part of a streak terminates the streak. In general, a streak adds a higher-level goal (keeping the streak alive) to a lower-level goal (completing an individual activity). Streaks also add structure to an activity, and structure can simplify thinking and shape decision-making. For example, a streak of meditating (冥想) for at least 20 minutes each day may be more appealing, and can lead to meditators’ more regular meditation, than a streak of meditating for at least 140 minutes each week. While the amount of meditation is the same in both cases, the outcomes are very different. While many people put forward resolutions on Jan.1 or other important dates, such as holidays, birthdays, or anniversaries of noteworthy events, only a small percentage of people complete them. Having been familiarized with the concept of streaks, now you may know how to stick with your resolutions further into the new year — and maybe far beyond. 8. Which aspect of streaks might app designers mainly focus on? A. Their efficiency in tracking user data. B. Their capacity to provide rich instances. C. Their usability on various web platforms. D. Their motivating influence on user behavior. 9. What distinguishes a streak from a habit? A. The former is limited to specific contexts. B. The former involves automatic responses. C. The former is formed through repetition. D. The former requires conscious efforts. 10. What does the underlined word “terminates” in Paragraph 4 mean? A. Highlights. B. Influences. C. Discontinues. D. Benefits. 11. What does the example of meditating in Paragraph 5 mainly show? A. How streaks are structured affects commitment. B. How consistency in activity boosts mental health. C. Similar streaks vary in their appeal to individuals. D. Setting the right goals enhances personal motivation. D Perfume (香味;香水) has held a special place in human history. The traditional making process involves collecting raw materials, producing oils, mixing, aging and quality control. For centuries, perfumers have merely relied on their own senses. But now modern-day perfumers are beginning to look beyond their noses. They are, instead, turning to neurotechnology Perfume now can be designed to stimulate emotional responses using neuroscents (神经气味) shown by biometric measures — the use of biological data to analyze human responses — to help inspire different positive feelings such as calm, joy or sleepiness. Neurotechnology can also help perfumers analyze the chemical composition of these neuroscents and find new combinations of raw materials that can produce similar or enhanced effects. Researcher Hugo Ferreira is trying to build a database of neuroscents. “With sight and hearing, you can imagine the face of a loved one or the favourite tune. It’s hard to imagine a smell though it can stimulate a series of emotions and memories.” Ferreira explains this is due to the structure of the olfactory (嗅觉的) system. Messages from scent receptors are sent through the olfactory bulb to different brain areas that control everything from memory or thirst to stress reactions. Olfaction is the most diverse sense with many different receptors. It’s estimated that there are about 400 different olfactory receptor gene families. Among other things these various connections may explain how we can “smell fear, or victory.” L’Oréal, a French multinational personal care company, has partnered with neurotechnology company Emotiv to create a scent choice “experience”. During 2023, shoppers at certain stores used a device to discover which scents appealed to them. Results so far show that 95% of customers who used the device found the right perfume. Another perfume from Givenchy, a French luxury fashion and perfume house, has been a bestseller for years, which includes a special substance chosen after biometric research. However, perfume writer Katie Puckrik says she’d like to “design her own perfume”. “Leave the magic to the artists. Why do we need a computer to tell us what our nose already knows? Finding a new favorite scent by chance is a rare moment of grace we should allow ourselves,” she says. 12. How can neurotechnology function in the perfume-making process? A. By distinguishing one scent from the other. B. By exploring the best way to obtain special oil. C. By finding the scents most appealing to people. D By offering perfumers information of materials. 13. What does Ferreira want to indicate in paragraph 3? A. The close connection among our senses. B. The great complexity of the olfactory system. C. The relationship between emotion and memory. D. The significance of having a good imagination. 14. Why are the perfume brands mentioned in the text? A. To show applications of neurotechnology. B. To collect more data for biometric research. C. To illustrate the fierce competition between them. D. To stress their dominance in the perfume industry. 15. What is Katie Puckrik’s attitude towards the new technology? A. Tolerant. B. Unclear. C. Supportive. D. Negative. In today’s consumer-driven society, credit cards have become an essential financial tool for many. ____16____ However, there is also a hidden danger: the minimum payment trap. While the minimum payment may seem like a manageable way to handle debt, it can quickly lead to a never-ending cycle of financial struggles. So let’s explore the harmful nature of minimum payments. The minimum payment is a mirage At first glance, the minimum payment appears to be a reasonable sum. It’s often a small percentage, around 2-3%, of the total balance. This seemingly manageable sum can make cardholders form a false sense of security, leading them to believe that they’re making progress toward paying off their debt. ____17____ The cost of minimum payments is far from our expectations. Many people fail to realize that making only minimum payments barely covers the interest that adds up on the outstanding balance (未偿余额), let alone reduces the principal amount owed. ____18____ A large part of each payment will go towards interest charges rather than reducing the debt itself. Consequently, people find themselves trapped in an endless cycle of paying off interest while the principal balance remains high. ____19____ As the cycle continues, the balance may actually grow over time, especially if new purchases are made on the card. This occurs when interest continuously adds up on the existing balance. What started as a manageable sum can quickly balloon into a financial burden. People will probably suffer from psychological problems. The constant stress of increasing debt can lead to anxiety, depression, and feelings of helplessness. ____20____ It’s a harmful cycle that feeds on itself, leaving many feeling trapped and hopeless. A. There is a worrying snowball effect. B. Actually, the reality is much more concerning. C. They offer convenience, flexibility, and rewards. D. The minimum pavements attract people to purchase more. E. It is essential to first understand the impact of the interest. F. Credit card companies apply relatively high interest rates. G. The longer one remains trapped, the harder it is to break free. Fitness hasn’t always been welcoming of body diversity. Because Mark preferred his ideas for inventions to hard work in a field, he was often laughed at by the villagers. Fortunately, he didn’t have to work in the field, as his grandfather hired him to work at his blacksmith’s workshop. In his spare moments, Mark would devote himself to his inventions. A year ago, his grandfather made a kettle. Once he was waiting for the water to start boiling in the kettle, he saw the steam come out of the kettle and thought, “The steam comes out at pretty high speed. Could a huge kettle produce enough steam to drive a windmill?” It took him four months to create something like a steam engine. Mark continued thinking, “I’ll add wings, and it will be able to fly.” Mark built a wooden construction of an air vehicle and he powered the wings with the steam engine. Wings were waving just as birds do; however, the air vehicle didn’t go up even a little. The trial of starting the air vehicle lasted an hour and completely failed. “Hah! I told you that you wouldn’t make it!” his grandfather said, and many villagers laughed at him. But Mark didn’t mind that; he gathered all the courage and was determined to make a change. He went to the big bookstore in a faraway city and bought books on aircraft construction. He even bought back some parts and used metal sheets from the junkyards. Mark started studying the pictures more exactly. He built a fuselage (机身) with wheels and he mounted a big airscrew (螺旋桨) on it. He worked hard to gather all the parts needed for the plane according to the drawings. It took Mark another six months to complete his plane. Despite the doubtfulness of his grandfather and other villagers, Mark transported the plane to a cliff atop the mountain with the help of friends. He believed pretty strong winds would significantly help his plane fly and he also believed he could make it this time. Paragraph 1: After getting everything ready, Mark got into his plane with a mixture of excitement and nervousness. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: Fifteen minutes later, the plane landed by the riverside safely. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2025~2026 学年第一学期高二年级 10月学情检测 英语试题 (本试卷共10页 考试时间120分钟 满分150分) 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共5小题;每小题1.5分,满分7.5分) 听下面 5 段对话。 1. D. adviser and explained the idea of creating 3D printed lab tools out of some of our waste. I’m still disappointed that I was not able to fully realize my 3D-printing vision, and I am determined to keep trying. B 5. A 6. C 7. 根据第一段“Gradually, I realized my work was generating a lot of waste, but I had accepted it as a necessary evil (罪恶). That all changed one day when I saw a huge pile of plastic waste — pipette boxes, tubes, packaging — piled against the wall. (渐渐地,我意识到我的工作产生了大量废物,但我已经接受了这是一种必要的罪恶。有一天,当我看到一大堆塑料废物——吸管盒、管子、包装——靠墙堆放时,这一切都改变了)”以及第二段“I went to my Ph. D. adviser and explained the idea of creating 3D printed lab tools out of some of our waste. (我去找我的博士生导师,解释了用我们的一些废物创建3D打印实验室工具的想法)”可知,作者对日益增多的废物感到不满,这促使作者想要制作3D打印实验室工具。故选B项。 【5题详解】 推理判断题。根据第二段“Weeks later, I was quite depressed. The equipment required me to individually load each item to be recycled, which was incredibly time-consuming. It was also difficult to get the recycled material into a consistent shape that could be fed into the 3D printer.(几周后,我非常沮丧。该设备需要我逐一装载每件待回收物品,这极其耗时。而且很难将回收材料加工成可送入3D打印机的统一形状)”及最后一段“I’m still disappointed that I was not able to fully realize my 3D-printing vision, (我仍因未能完全实现我的3D打印构想而感到失望)”可知,作者的3D打印构想还面临很多困难,3D打印构想远未可行。故选A项。 根据第四段“In the following months, we introduced new recycling bins to each lab after learning that some of our plastic waste could be recycled if it was properly sorted. We also explored ways to reduce our use of plastic items. And we purchased meters (计量表) to track the energy consumption of various, pieces of lab equipment. Through those actions, we managed to turn off multiple freezers. We also increased the temperature of several ultra-low temperature freezers after realizing some samples didn’t have to be stored so cold.(在接下来的几个月里,我们在了解到如果分类得当,我们的一些塑料废物可以回收后,为每个实验室引入了新的回收箱。我们还探索了减少塑料制品使用的方法。我们还购买了计量表来跟踪各种实验室设备的能耗。通过这些行动,我们设法关闭了多个冰柜。在意识到一些样品不必如此低温储存后,我们还提高了几个超低温冰柜的温度)”可知,该段聚焦于为实现可持续科研所付出的努力。故选C项。 【7题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“But I’ve learned that if one approach isn’t working, sometimes it’s best to take a step back and look for other solutions.(但我明白了,如果一种方法行不通,有时最好退一步,寻找其他解决方案)”可知,作者的经历告诉我们要培养灵活的思维。故选B项。 C Dick Coffee attended 781 consecutive (连续的) University of Alabama football games. D 9. D 10. C 11. 根据第二段“An activity streak has a magic trick, often driving individuals to maintain consistency and pursue continuity, and marketers have apparently taken note of this. Marketing researchers Jackie Silverman and Alixandra Barasch recently documented 101 unique instances of apps that have integrated streaks into their architecture by allowing users to track the number of consecutive days on which they complete a task.(连续打卡机制有一种魔力,常能促使人们保持坚持、追求连贯,营销人员显然也注意到了这一点。营销研究者杰姬・西尔弗曼与亚历山德拉・巴拉什近期记录了101个独特案例:多款应用将连续打卡融入产品设计,让用户可追踪连续完成某项任务的天数)”可推知,应用设计者关注的是连续记录对用户行为的激励作用。故选D项。 【9题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“Most people have habits, which are reflex-like and stimulated by the context. For example, many people mindlessly fasten their seat belts upon getting in a car. However, a streak often requires the actor to have a strategy for completing the activity in various situations or contexts.(大多数人都有习惯,这些习惯带有本能反应的特质,且会受环境触发。比如,很多人一上车就会下意识地系好安全带。但连续打卡机制往往要求人们制定策略,以便在不同场景或环境下都能完成对应活动)”可知,习惯是无意识的条件反射,而连续记录需要有意识的规划与努力,这是二者的区别。故选D项。 【10题详解】 词句猜测题。根据第四段“Failing to perform a habitual behavior on occasion will have little impact on the likelihood of the person performing the behavior in the future. Contrarily, failing to perform a behavior that is part of a streak terminates the streak.(偶尔没做出习惯性行为,对个人未来再做该行为的可能性几乎没影响。相反,若没完成连续打卡中的某项行为,就会terminates整个连续打卡记录)”可知,“contrarily”表对比,习惯偶尔中断无影响,而连续记录中断会导致其“终止”。所以猜测terminates表“终止”的意思,与C项Discontinues(停止;中止)同义。故选C项。 【11题详解】 推理判断题。根据第五段“In general, a streak adds a higher-level goal (keeping the streak alive) to a lower-level goal (completing an individual activity). Streaks also add structure to an activity, and structure can simplify thinking and shape decision-making. For example, a streak of meditating (冥想) for at least 20 minutes each day may be more appealing, and can lead to meditators’ more regular meditation, than a streak of meditating for at least 140 minutes each week.(总体而言,连续打卡机制会在低层次目标(完成单次活动)之外,增加一个高层次目标(维持打卡记录不中断)。它还能为活动赋予条理性,而条理性可简化思考过程、影响决策方式。例如,“每天至少冥想20分钟” 的打卡机制,可能比“每周至少冥想140分钟”更具吸引力,也能让冥想者的冥想习惯更规律)”可推知,例子旨在说明连续记录的“结构形式”(每日固定时长vs每周总时长)会影响用户的坚持度。故选A项。 D Perfume (香味;香水) has held a special place in human history. However perfume writer Katie Puckrik says she’d like to “design her own perfume”. D. By offering perfumers information of materials. A. Tolerant. B. Unclear. C. Supportive. D. Negative. C 13. B 14. A 15. 根据第一段中“ But now modern-day perfumers are beginning to look beyond their noses. Why do we need a computer to tell us what our nose already knows? Finding a new favorite scent by chance is a rare moment of grace we should allow ourselves.(把神奇留给艺术家吧。为什么我们需要电脑来告诉我们鼻子已经知道的东西?偶然发现一种新的喜欢的气味是我们应该允许自己享受的难得的优雅时刻。)”可知,Katie Puckrik对这项新技术的态度是消极的。故选D项。 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 In today’s consumer-driven society, credit cards have become an essential financial tool for many. Many people fail to realize that making only minimum payments barely covers the interest that adds up on the outstanding balance (未偿余额) let alone reduces the principal amount owed. C 17. B 18. F 19. A 20. 【分析】 16题详解】 上文“In today’s consumer-driven society, credit cards have become an essential financial tool for many.(当今消费驱动的社会中,信用卡已成为许多人必不可少的金融工具。)” 【17题详解】 空前的句子“This seemingly manageable sum can make cardholders form a false sense of security, leading them to believe that they’re making progress toward paying off their debt(这笔看似可控的金额可能会让持卡人形成一种虚假的安全感,让他们相信自己在偿还债务方面取得了进展)”说明了最低还款额给持卡人带来的错觉,觉得自己在偿还债务方面取得了进展,实际怎样呢?B选项“Actually, the reality is much more concerning.(实际上,现实情况更加令人担忧)”强调了实际情况比表面看起来更糟,符合上下文的语言逻辑。故选B。 【18题详解】 空前的句子“Many people fail to realize that making only minimum payments barely covers the interest that adds up on the outstanding balance (未偿余额), let alone reduces the principal amount owed.(许多人没有意识到,只支付最低还款额几乎无法弥补未偿还余额的利息,更不用说减少所欠的本金了。)” 【19题详解】 上段描述支付最低额款项的循环,导致余额可能增加,A选项“There is a worrying snowball effect.(存在一个令人担忧的滚雪球效应)”合理承接此意,且本空后面的句子“As the cycle continues, the balance may actually grow over time, especially if new purchases are made on the card.(随着周期的继续,余额实际上可能会随着时间的推移而增长,特别是如果在卡上进行了新的购买。)” 故选A。 【20题详解】 空前的句子“People will probably suffer from psychological problems. The constant stress of increasing debt can lead to anxiety, depression, and feelings of helplessness.(人们可能会出现心理问题。债务增加带来的持续压力会导致焦虑、抑郁和无助感。)”讲述了不断增加的债务带来的心理问题。G选项“The longer one remains trapped, the harder it is to break free.(被困的时间越长,就越难摆脱。)” Fitness hasn’t always been welcoming of body diversity. He built a fuselage (机身) with wheels, and he mounted a big airscrew (螺旋桨) on it. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Paragraph 1: After getting everything ready, Mark got into his plane with a mixture of excitement and nervousness. He felt the weight of his dream resting on his shoulders. He started the engine, and the plane was seen slowly sliding down the cliff. Despite the heavy weight of the fuselage, his plane was able to fly. How happy Mark was! The engine worked pretty well, and the plane made several circles above the village. Looking down below, Mark noticed many villagers jumping and waving to him as if they were celebrating. Paragraph 2: Fifteen minutes later, the plane landed by the riverside safely. The villagers all ran there cheering, and Mark saw his grandfather as well, who gave him the thumbs-up sign. The villagers all regarded him as a hero. As Mark watched the sun setting over the horizon, he saw a new world and he felt a desire to reach it. He knew that this was just the beginning of his journey into the realms of invention and discovery. With newfound confidence, he resolved to continue pushing the boundaries of what was possible, fueled by his unshakable belief in the power of innovation. 词汇激活 行为类: ①滑行:sliding down/gliding down ②起飞:fly/take off ③竖起大拇指:give him the thumbs-up sign/show approval with a thumbs-up 情绪类: ①高兴的:happy/delighted/pleased ②自信:confidence/self-assurance 【点睛】【高分句型1】Looking down below, Mark noticed many villagers jumping and waving to him as if they were celebrating.
