Chengdu, a city in Sichuan Province, is the first in China to host the World Games (TWG). This big sports event for non-Olympic sports was held from August 7 to August 17 in 2025. The torch (火炬) for the World Games 2025 Chengdu is the first-ever torch in TWG’s history. It is named “Zhumeng”, which means “Bamboo Dream” in Chinese and sounds like “running for dreams”.
The torch’s design draws ideas from the Grand Bronze Standing Figure (大立人像) from Sanxingdui in Sichuan It is a famous symbol of Sanxingdui culture.
The torch looks like a bamboo shoot (竹笋). In China, bamboo symbolizes modesty (谦逊) and strength. It also shows unity, hard work, and health. As home to giant pandas, Sichuan has lots of bamboo forests, the favorite food of pandas. The top of the torch is shaped like a young bamboo shoot. This means an open and friendly China welcoming the world. The whole torch looks like a strong bamboo, showing the sports spirit of unity and trying hard.
The torch’s nozzle (喷嘴) is like the Sun-shaped Crown (王冠) worn by the Bronze Standing Figure found at the Jinsha Site in Chengdu. It shows Chengdu’s deep culture and gives players endless energy, like the sun. It also symbolizes their spirit of wanting to do their best.
At the bottom (底部) of the torch, a phoenix-shaped bird holds it up. This reminds us of an old saying: “When a holy bird flies and sings, peace is in the world.” It shows China’s rich culture and our hope for world peace.

D. To show that the torch connects Chinese culture with the sports spirits.

Have you ever lost yourself in doing something so that you forget the time? Everything around you—from the ringing of phones to the people passing by—seemed to be away
Most of us have had this experience at one time or another. This special state (状态) of mind is called “flow” (心流). When it happens, we completely pay attention to what we are doing. We stay active, even excited about what we are doing. For example, when you are drawing, you might forget to eat dinner because you lose yourself in it.
The idea of flow was introduced and first studied by psychologist (心理学家) Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. According to his study, whether flow happens depends on the difficulty of the challenge and our skill levels. For example, if the task is low challenging and doesn’t need a lot of skills, we probably feel bored towards it. But facing a challenging task without the needed skills could easily cause worry. He finally drew the conclusion that when the challenge is difficult and we believe we have enough skills, flow happens.
What does flow bring? During flow, people can work faster and better. For example, artists said that they could produce more works easily “without putting in much effort” in the flow state. Flow can also make people more creative because they have to look for new challenges and information to keep the state. With flow, people have greater levels of happiness and satisfaction in their activities.
Flow often happens during creative activities and sports activities. But flow states aren’t just something experienced by artists, writers or sports persons. Flow can happen anytime a person is deeply lost in a task, including during learning activities. Many people want to achieve flow more often in their daily lives. While doing a task, having clear plans, adding something challengeable and giving and receiving feedback (反馈) in time can help achieve flow. It’s more difficult to achieve flow if people’s attention is distracted (分散), so it’s necessary that smartphones, TV and other distractions get turned off.
32. What will probably happen when people are in flow?
A. Say hello to the people passing by. B. Hear the ringing of phones around them.
C. Focus on what they are doing now. D. Remember to eat dinner when drawing.
33. According to Csikszentmihalyi’s study, which of the following shows the flow state?
A. B.
C. D.
34. What advice does the passage NOT give to help people achieve the state of flow?
A. Look for new challenges and information. B. Have greater levels of happiness and satisfaction.
C. Ask others for help to make clear plans. D. Turn off distractions like smartphones or TV.
35. What is the best title for the passage?
A. A Famous Psychologist on Studying Flow B. An Experience During Creative Activities
C. A Fast Way to Become Writers or Artists D. A Special State of Mind Called “Flow”

Last week, we had a discussion about “Time and Me” in class. Most classmates shared their different ideas. Here are the Top 3 answers.
Roger
I think time is money. There are a few things I do to manage (管理) my time. For example, I usually make full use of my time to work. So, if I have to wait somewhere or travel by bus, even on Saturday or Sunday, I can use this time to do some sports or read a book for school. What really helps me, though, is using a calendar. I write the date when I must finish something and check if I finish everything before that day.
Shawn
Time is fair for everyone. We all have the same 24 hours—the key is using them well. For example, I often record my time and list what’s truly important to me, such as school, family, or hobbies. Starting by keeping a simple record of how I spend my time for one or two weeks, I am surprised to see where it all goes. Knowing this helps me get into a good habit: whenever I have some free time, I should use it well! This also helps me make better decisions in the future.
Judy
I think lost time is never found again. And the best way to treasure time is to live in the present. Once you know what is important to you, and what you really care about, you can start to adjust (调整) your routine. Stop doing unimportant things that don’t increase the value, and learn to say no when you’re already too busy. Notice life’s small joys, such as a beautiful sunrise or a good conversation with friends. In fact, happiness comes from hundreds of moments of small joys.

Learning English can be difficult or interesting. It depends on how you are doing it.
To begin with, read as much as you can in English. From cartoons to British literature, anything is OK. If you wish to improve yourself, you have to choose something that can provide you with a challenge. So renew your library card, choose your favourite English magazines or go online.
Western culture can also be a part of language learning. For example, the expressions or situations can be understood and remembered better if you know a couple of patterns, books or poems in British or American culture.
If you have the chance to use English, don’t lose it. You can start to write down any ideas you think of in your own post (帖子) in English such as your hobby, travel experiences and so on. If you don’t have any ideas, read other people’s posts or articles in English and get some good ideas. You can also try to find an online community that has the same interest as you. In this community, you can share your thoughts in English. This usually seems to be the most difficult part, but you have to challenge yourself.
Finally, never forget the power of relaxation. As the saying goes, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” You don’t always have to force yourself to study English if you are tired. You can listen to some English music or watch an English movie. It is an easy and interesting way to help your language learning. It doesn’t sound too difficult, does it?
Is Learning English Difficult?
Learning English may be difficult. But with ____66____, it will be easier and more fun for you. First, read widely, like cartoons, British literature, or your favorite magazines, and challenge yourself with different reading materials.
Second, English can be easier to understand or remember by ____67____.
Third, use it as much as possible. You can start your post in English if ____68____. Or maybe you can get some good ideas from others’ posts or articles.
Last but not least, remember that ____69____ in your English learning.

The torch’s design draws ideas from the Grand Bronze Standing Figure (大立人像) from Sanxingdui in Sichuan. It is a famous symbol of Sanxingdui culture.

Have you ever lost yourself in doing something so that you forget the time? Everything around you—from the ringing of phones to the people passing by—seemed to be away.

阅读下文并回答问题。

The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most important festivals in China. On this special day, Chinese families always get together. We have a big, delicious dinner first. Then everyone shares mooncakes—they’re round, with flavours like red bean or lotus seed, and they stand for harvest.
