My friend was supposed to travel with me, but at the last moment her relative had a serious health scare and she needed to stay behind. She knew how much money I'd already spent and encouraged me to go and have fun for both of us. So I went on our trip to Spain by myself. I had a lot of anxiety about going alone to a foreign country. Luckily, that wasn't the case, but I did have to step out of my comfort zone. I remember going to a restaurant and having trouble understanding the menu. A young couple was sitting near me and asked if I needed help. At first, I said no because I felt so awkward, but I thought about it for a second and then said that I actually would like some help. They were so kind and introduced me to some delicious dishes that they said only locals eat. We chatted through the whole meal, and we've even kept in touch ever since! If I had been traveling with my friend, we probably would have just stayed together and not have interacted much with the locals. Traveling alone turned out to be a great experience for me.

Talking about why I came to this university, I have a lot to say. First, studying in the university gives me the opportunity to have new experiences. I have to organize my time and way I spend the money. I also have to take care of myself. Second, the campus is beautiful, and the dormitory is well-furnished. The most important thing for me is to follow my dream. All along I have dreamed of becoming a good teacher. I like children and I want to make friends with them. I think this university can help me to realize my dream.
That’s all! Thank you.

C.They don’t study after class.
【答案】18. C 19. C 20. A
【原文】W: More and more people today are going back to school as older adults. Why are people doing this? The main reason is that they aren’t satisfied with their present careers. Maybe they are tired of their busy, stressful life in business and want to be a teacher — a job that helps others. Maybe they want to make more money. Or maybe they want to try something new. To make these changes in careers, they have to return to school to study a different major or get more education in the field they’re already in. But what are the difficulties of this decision? Well, firstly, it costs a lot of money to pay for school per year. They need work to pay for everyday costs of housing, food, clothing, and entertainments, so many people don’t have enough time. Most people cannot quit their jobs and give school their full attention, so they must take classes at night and find time to study when they can. Finally, going back to school after not being a student for so long might be more work than most people think. But to most of these students, it’s all worth it!

A. There will be games.
B. There will be food served.

【答案】17. B 18. C 19. A 20. C
【原文】
M: Before we get the party started at 7:00, I want to remind everyone that we should still be respectful while we’re having fun. We’re not in the school gym. We’re having a party on a neighborhood street. Many neighbors will probably come out and join us for food and games, but many will stay in their homes, too. That red house on the west side of the street has a family of five. The father is a friend of mine. He works hard at a factory all day. When he gets home, he spends a couple of hours playing with his family and then goes to sleep early. In the white house directly across the street, on the east side, an elderly brother and a sister live. They have some health problems, so they also go to bed early. Now, the people around here are very kind and say we can make noise until 10:00 tonight. But I want things to be quieter before 9:00. Therefore, I’ve planned to show a popular movie on a big screen at 8:30 this evening.

At first, I said no, because I felt so awkward, but I thought about IT for a second and then said that I actually would like some help. They were so kind and introduced me to some delicious dishes that they said only locals eat. We chatted through the whole meal, and we've even kept in touch ever since. If I had been travelling with my friend, we probably would have just stayed together and not have interacted much with the locals. Travelling alone turned out to be a great experience for me. Why are people doing this? The main reason is that they aren't satisfied with their present careers. Maybe they are tired of their busy, stressful life in business and want to be a teacher, a job that helps others. Maybe they want to make more money, or maybe they want to try something new. To make these changes in careers, they have to return to school to study a different major or get more education in the field they're already in. But what are the difficulties of this decision? Well, firstly, IT costs a lot of money to pay for a school per year. They need to work to pay for everyday costs of housing, food, clothing and entertainments. So many people don't have enough time. Most people cannot quit their jobs and give school their full attention, so they must take classes at night, can find time to study when they can. Finally, going back to school after not being a student for so long might be more work than most people think, but to most of these students . is all worth IT. We're not in the school, gm. We're having a party on a neighborhood street. Many neighbors will probably come out and join us for food and games, but many will stay in their homes too. That red house on the west side of the street has a family of five. The father is a friend of mine. He works hard at a factory all day. When he got home, he spends a couple of hours playing with his family and then goes to sleep early in the White house, directly across the street. On the inside, an elderly brother and his sister live. They have some health problems, so they also go to bed early. Now the people around here are very kind and say, we can make noise until ten o'clock tonight, but I want things to be quieter before nine o'clock. Therefore, i've planned to show a popular movie on a big screen at eight thirty this evening.
