What started as a typical Sunday shift for Manhattan Deming turned into a moment she’ll never forget.
Deming was running around 1 tables when a couple she was serving began asking her about her life. Their conversation quickly turned heartfelt.
Deming shared, “They asked me if I had goals and I said I’d love to be a nurse one day. That was my goal before I had my daughter… but I plan to go back to school when things get better.”
After a/an 2 conversation, the couple handed Deming the receipt — what she saw next 3 her in her tracks.
“It’s $ 2,000,” Deming recalled. “I 4 right there. I couldn’t hold it in. It means the world to me!”
Deming has faced her 5 of challenges while balancing work and raising her 3-year-old daughter. From unstable cell service making it hard to check in on her child during work, to putting her nursing dreams on hold, things haven’t been easy. But this generous tip has given her a new shot at 6 .
“It’s going to help me with rent, bills, clothes for my daughter — just a cushion while I work toward school,” she said. “They’ve really 7 me… to begin achieving my goals and bettering my daughter and my life.”
Before becoming a waitress, Deming worked as a Patient Care Technician at a local hospital, but had to leave due to 8 difficulties after her daughter was born. Now, thanks to this incredible gesture, she plans to return to school and 9 her dream of becoming a nurse.
For Deming, the $ 2,000 tip is more than just money — it serves as a 10 that good things come to those who wait.

Passage 01
When I think of my friends, I am mostly filled with love and warmth: I simply can’t wait to see them again for their affection and support. 35 In the right mood, these individuals can deliver a fun-filled evening, but at the wrong moment, they can drain (耗尽) all my goodwill.
If this sounds familiar, then you too have frenemies, who psychologists call “ambivalent relationships”. These love-hate relationships could include a friend, a parent, a colleague or even a husband or wife. Their ambivalence can come in many forms. 36 It could be a partner love-bombing you one day, but fiercely critical the next, leaving you unsure about their true feelings.
37 At the very least, you would expect them to be better for us than our aversive (令人厌恶的) relationships. Unfortunately, research suggests things aren’t so simple. A team at the University of Utah asked people to take a reaction-time test and they found that rapidly flashing the name of an ambivalent connection on a screen intensified stress response of participants. Another study at Brigham Young University found that simply knowing an ambivalent connection was nearby as participants prepared to give a speech was enough to send their blood pressure rocketing. 38
Cutting ties with our ambivalent connections isn’t always possible or desirable if they are deeply mixed into our social network. So, what can be done? Simply being aware of the ambivalent nature of a relationship might offer some protection. We can manage our expectations and mentally prepare ourselves for the mixed feelings when interacting with frenemies. 39 As importantly, be a little more mindful of any interactions with all our ties. Show others the appreciation and respect we feel for them, for accidental neglect could be taken as a sign of indifference.
A.It might be a friend who is often unavailable when you need his support.
B.We might hope that in such relationships, the good would outweigh the bad.
C.In fact, even unconscious reminders of a frenemy can break our peace of mind.
D.This allows us to focus on their good qualities and show empathy for the unpleasant ones.
E.If you feel someone too negative a presence in your life, you may decide to cut off contact.
F.A handful, however, stimulate quite different emotions—a mixture of eagerness and anxiety.
G.After all, the benefits of social connection come from feeling well understood and supported.
Passage 02
After seeing online advertising for “Willy’s Cbocolate Experience”, people paid up to £80 each to attend. But it wasn’t as promised: instead of wondrous creations and an abundance of chocolate, families arrived at a mostly abandoned warehouse featuring a sad-looking castle. Later it emerged that the marketing materials were produced by artificial intelligence. Misleading ads are just one example of a common problem in our digitalised world. Yet even as deception (欺骗) grows more complicated, countermeasures are being developed.
There is an arms race going on in the digital world. 35 Understanding that evolutionary conflict can help us beat those who aim to lie to us. Disinformation certainly predates the existence of humans. Cancer cells, for example, trick the immune system into treating them as a normal part of the body, causing white blood cells useless against them.
36 Cuckoos lay their eggs in the nests of other birds. The foster parents are then deceived into raising the young of others at the expense of their own. More complex are cases where wild tufted capuchin monkeys may scream as though a predator (捕食者) is nearby to trick their fellow primates into running away from food. 37
This links to the Red Queen hypothesis, which refers to a case where two organisms compete to outsmart each other. 38 Cuckoos compete with host birds. Primates compete with each other. In each conflict, a new strategy by one party forces the other to adapt — or face elimination in the cold game of natural selection.
Disinformation today is a more complex version of the false monkey screams. The good news is that we know enough about evolutionary thinking to predict which steps bad actors will take next. 39 We have novel ways to trick it into evolving a weakness that we then take advantage of, a process called “evolutionary trapping”. Similarly, we know someone will try to outfox the tools being developed to counter deepfakes. We can predict what the next form of deepfake will look like, then prevent it.
A.Bodies compete with cancers.
B.We do this already with cancer.
C.They then take the food for themselves.
D.They become more intelligent with each trick.
E.We see disinformation strategies among animals, too.
F.We need to use our understanding to make traps of our own.
G.But the competition between deception and honesty is as old as life on Earth.

For years, self-doubt was my 1 companion. Even moments of success couldn’t silence the voice whispering, “You don’t belong.” It started after my diagnosis of autism (孤独症). I tried to 2 , which only made my self-doubt stronger.
Middle school was especially tough. I had back surgery and failed important exams repeatedly. Setbacks 3 up, and I wondered, “What’s the point?” Yet something urged me to keep going. After three tries, I finally passed. Still, self-doubt continued to exist.
To cope, I started writing, pouring everything onto the page: anger, sadness, confusion, and hope. Somehow, writing gave 4 to my unspoken feelings. My hidden voice began to emerge. Sharing my story — about autism and perseverance — 5 the burden. Slowly I realized the very traits I once tried to hide — sensitivity, empathy, unique perspective — were 6 .
I published my writings. The response was unexpected: readers felt less alone, others 7 their own miseries, and parents found renewed hope for their children. Invitations to mentor and speak followed. What mattered wasn’t recognition, but knowing someone who once felt 8 might think, “Maybe I’m not alone.”
There’s one moment when I shared my story in Dubai for a speaking engagement. I spotted one nervous teen who wanted to say something but hesitated. I told him it was okay. Then, out of nowhere, he sang a beautiful song about wishing parents would get closer to their kids. It was so moving and unexpected. Once again, I was reminded that the 9 I once tried to hide had helped someone else find theirs.
Since then, I’ve been invited to more universities and conferences. Reflecting on this journey, a thought came to me: “When we are battered by rains and storms, that essence of life gives us hope we will 10 at the right time.

Passage 01
Have you ever wondered why some jokes make you burst into uncontrollable laughter while others barely elicit (引出) a smile? The answer lies in the intricate dance between cognitive and emotional processes that occurs when we encounter humor.
Let’s start with the cognitive side of things. 35 We’re not just passively receiving information; we’re actively processing it, making connections, and trying to make sense of what we’re experiencing.
36 The emotional side of humor is equally important and often intertwined with our cognitive processes. When we find something funny, we experience a range of positive emotions—joy, amusement, surprise, and sometimes even a touch of mischievous delight. These emotional responses are what make humor such a powerful force in our lives.
Interestingly, the relationship between cognition and emotion in humor isn’t always straightforward. Sometimes, we might understand a joke on a cognitive level but not find it particularly amusing. Other times, we might laugh at something without fully understanding why it’s funny. 37
Our cognitive and emotional responses to humor aren’t static. 38 A joke that had you rolling on the floor as a teenager might elicit nothing more than a groan in your adult years. Conversely, you might find yourself chuckling (轻声笑) at a subtle bit of wordplay that would have gone right over your head in your younger days.
The cognitive and emotional processes involved in humor might seem trivial. 39 But when we consider how pervasive humor is in our daily lives, it becomes clear that understanding these processes can have far-reaching implications for our well-being and social interactions.
A.After all, it’s just a laugh, right?
B.But cognition is only half the story.
C.They can change over time as we grow, learn, and experience new things.
D.Our brains start to look for patterns and make predictions when we hear a joke.
E.Individual differences play a significant role in humor perception and appreciation.
F.This complexity is part of what makes humor such a rich area of study for psychologists.
G.When we hear a joke or see something funny, our brains shift into high-speed working mode.
Passage 02
Sustainable momentum (动力) is about creating a steady pattern in your life, where commitment to a task becomes as habitual as breathing. And creating a life pattern that fuels creativity and productivity is quite simple, yet powerful: plan weekly and do daily. 35 Let’s look at it in detail.
PLAN WEEKLY
36 What you plan for Monday might not be achievable by Wednesday. This is where a weekly big picture proves invaluable. Instead of rigidly planning every day, give yourself the breathing space of a week.
When you plan weekly, you’ re afforded the luxury of arranging hours with more flexibility. Say, a surprise appointment crops up on Tuesday? No worries. 37 Shuffling (变换次序)within a week provides a smoother shift than trying to rearrange a jam-packed day.
Additionally, planning with a weekly perspective offers a bird’s eye view of your goals. It’s not just about pa king tasks, but about matching them with your broader objectives. 38
DO DAILY
Genuine progress is about taking constant, purposeful steps. It’s not about waiting for a vast, free block of time. Instead, it’s about making realistic, day-to-day advancements.
39 Imagine having to eat an entire cake in one go. Impossible, right? But what if you had one slice a day? That’s the principle here. Instead of massive tasks, slice them into smaller, more digestible pieces. This way, you’re less likely to be overwhelmed (压垮) by the scale of a task and more likely to take steady action.
A.Break down the tasks.
B.Consistency is the key.
C.Day-to-day life can be unpredictable.
D.Adjust your focus blocks accordingly.
E.It’s a principle that allows momentum to grow naturally.
F.So it ensures you’ re always headed in the direction you desire.
G.The combination of flexibility with daily actionable tasks fuels momentum.

Passage 01
The Chinese solar calendar 17 (divide) the year into 24 solar terms. Grain in Ear (芒种), the ninth solar term, begins on June 5 this year. The 18 (arrive) of Grain in Ear signifies the ripening of crops. It is also a busy period for farmers. The system of 24 solar terms 19 (establish) thousands of years ago to guide agricultural production. The culture remains useful today to direct people’s lives through special foods, cultural 20 (ceremony) and healthy living tips.
Passage 02
Take a look at the contact list on your phone — you likely have numerous names but regularly connect with only a few. Many of these 17 (forget) contacts are old friends that 18 (fade) from your life for no particular reason for some time. However, research 19 (consistent) shows that social relationships are vital for mental and physical well-being. Reaching out to an old friend may seem challenging, but it can rekindle meaningful connections and bring joy. Instead of 20 (let) friendships slip away, a simple message can bridge the gap and enhance both parties’ happiness.
Passage 03
To drive real change, climate education must shift focus from global risks to personal and local impacts. People will act if the challenge 18 (feel) personal — not just about the planet, polar bears, or humanity 19 a whole. Sharing scientific facts isn’t enough; self-interest should figure in climate-education packages. Therefore, climate education should be tailored to each community. Messages are more effective when they 20 (deliver) in engaging ways to truly resonate with everyone.

When I was in sixth grade, I joined the band program to learn to play the clarinet (单簧管). The beginning of the year had gone 1 . But as most students progressed, I seemed to fall behind. One day, when my teacher told us to play in front of the other students, I was filled with fear. I knew I would 2 . When I began to play, my rhythms were good, but my tone was another story. “Did you practice your lesson?” the teacher barked at me. I felt so ashamed and my world came 3 down in an instant.
From then on, I hated playing the clarinet and I kept getting worse. With the day of the new performance approaching, I grew increasingly upset. In a moment of 4 , I asked for sick leave. It was so relieving and such an easy way out.
The avoidance of my lessons continued until my mum asked me about it. “I want to quit.” My tears started flowing. “If you really want to quit, why are you crying?” asked mum. She 5 and I realized I wanted to stay in band and, by not facing my fears, I had created a black hole that would be difficult to 6 out of. I made a resolution not to hide from my fears and to stand up to even the worst of them, so a solution could be achieved.
The next day I met with my band teacher and told her I was having a problem and couldn’t 7 why. She asked me gently to play for her. I tried, but only an unpleasant sound came out. She didn’t shout at me and handed me a new reed (簧片). I put it in place and tried again. To my great 8 I could play well. My problem was solved and my fear was removed a lot that year.
Looking back, I’m glad that I overcame my fear. Fear can 9 everything in a person’s life. Hiding from those very fears only creates a hole, which makes a person stay 10 inside. After facing up to a fear, one may find life easier and much more enjoyable.

Passage 01
Much smaller in size than the diameter of an average human hair, nanoplastics are invisible to the naked eye. Linked to cardiovascular and respiratory diseases in people, nanoplastics continue to build up, largely unnoticed, in the world’s bodies of water. 35
Therefore, at is urgent to develop better ways to remove nanoplastics from water. However the challenge remains to develop a cost-effective solution to get rid of nanoplastics while leaving clean water behind. 36 Recently, researchers created a cheap liquid-based solution that removes more than 98% of these microscopic plastic particles (颗粒) from water.
The innovative method uses water-resistant solvents (溶剂) made from natural ingredients. It not only offers a practical solution to the pressing issue of nanoplastic pollution but also paves the way for further research and development in advanced water purification technologies. The strategy uses a small amount of designer solvent to absorb plastic particles from a large dume of water. 37 Once mixed with water and allowed to reseparate, the solvent floats back to the surface, carrying the nanoplastics within its molecular structure. Currently, the capacity of the solvent is not well understood. 38 Additionally, they will explore methods to recycle the solvent, enabling their reuse multiple times if necessary.
39 The solvents are made from safe, non-toxic components, and their ability to resist water prevents additional pollution of water sources, making them a highly sustainable solution. From a scientific perspective, creating effective removal methods fosters innovation in filtration technologies, provides insights into nanomaterial behavior, and supports the development of informed environmental policies.
A.That’s where a new research comes in.
B.The cost of producing the solvent is still too high.
C.Previous methods failed to purify and recycle the small particles.
D.Initially, the solvent sits on the water’s surface the way oil floats on water.
E.In future work, researchers aim to determine the maximum capacity of the solvent.
F.The new method offers multiple advantages that are both practical and scientifically significant.
G.They can damage water ecosystems and enter the food chain, threatening wildlife and humans.
Passage 02
Experts have warned that an obsession (痴迷) with healthy eating can cause mental health problems. A survey among mental health professionals found 90% of those surveyed, like in previous research, had seen patients with orthorexia nervosa (ON). 35
The survey found some patients cut out foods like fish, meat or dairy, considering them “unclean”. Their fixation on “pure” foods leads to deficiencies (缺陷) like iron-deficiency anaemia or vitamin B12 deficiency. For example, Dr Niket Sonpal found that his patients didn’t consume enough calories, minerals, protein or carbohydrates. Some patients even cut out entire food groups after the big dinners of holidays. 36
The term ON was coined in 1997 by Dr. Steven Bratman. He noticed patients’ extreme diets caused malnutrition, anxiety, and even death. 37 It poses a significant challenge. Healthcare providers may not be trained to spot the signs easily, and patients might not be aware their eating habits. As a result, diagnosis and treatment are delayed.
38 Healthcare providers need to be attentive to identify and deal with ON in patients, providing support such as nutritional advice, psychological aid, and diet-diversity education. The public needs to know the risks of overly strict eating. 39 True well-being comes from a healthy relationship with food, not an obsession with “clean” eating. By taking these steps, we can prevent mental health issues caused by fixating on healthy eating and promote a culture where food brings both nourishment and joy.
A.Despite its risks, ON isn’t officially recognised as an eating disorder.
B.Some online health communities provide some self-treatment methods.
C.ON patients showed doubled depression rates compared to non-sufferers.
D.Media and social platforms can promote a more realistic view of nutrition.
E.Hence, experts warned that a healthy diet should not simply be seen as a source of restriction.
F.In light of the findings, the medical community and the public should take a balanced view on healthy eating.
G.Basically, orthorexia is a fixation on eating only healthy or pure foods, or what an individual perceives as healthy or pure.

Passage 01
Whales swim by moving their tails up and down. This motion 11 (create) pressure pulses (脉冲) which harm their brains. However, whales find a way 12 (avoid) such damage. Research has revealed that a network of blood vessels (血管) in their brains plays a crucial role. It can maintain stable blood pressure, 13 (effective) reducing over 90% of the potential harm. This discovery also helps explain 14 seals, which don’t face the same issue, lack these structures.
Passage 02
A foreign tourist shared his travel experience with visa-free entry in China on social media. “Before my trip 11 China in April, I was quite nervous because I had no idea 12 difficulties I would encounter at the border control department. However, after explaining to airport staff that I intended to enter China with the 240-hour visa-free transit policy, everything went quite smoothly afterward,” he said. During his trip, he 13 (visit) major southeastern coastal cities of China, among which Shanghai and Hangzhou left a deep impression on him.

Recently, many western musical artists have released their live albums — a format 17 has seemingly lost its appeal. Compared to studio work, a live album is more powerful 18 musicians only get one shot to deliver a performance. For pop stars, sometimes 19 (accuse) of using auto tune to polish their singings, live performance proves their talent. Concerts are occasions that fans want to remember, so they keep videos on, their phones. Similarly, a live album allows fans to relive the experience and enjoy 20 (they) as if they were in the scene.

【答案】35.F 36.A 37.B 38.C 39.D
35.上文“When I think of my friends, I am mostly filled with love and warmth: I simply can’t wait to see them again for their affection and support.(当我想到我的朋友时,我大多充满了爱和温暖:我迫不及待地想再次见到他们,得到他们的关爱和支持)”说明作者想到朋友时,大多充满了爱和温暖。结合下文“In the right mood, these individuals can deliver a fun-filled evening, but at the wrong moment, they can drain (耗尽) all my goodwill.(心情好的时候,这些人能让我度过一个充满乐趣的夜晚,但心情不好的时候,他们会耗尽我所有的善意)”推知,空处和前文为转折关系,说明有些朋友给作者带来的是不同的感受。F项中的However表示转折,“stimulate quite different emotions”与上文的“filled with love and warmth”形成对比,说明有些朋友会激起不同的情感。
故选A。
37.下文“At the very least, you would expect them to be better for us than our aversive (令人厌恶的) relationships.(至少,你会期望他们比我们厌恶的关系对我们更好)”说明人们期望这种爱恨交织的关系能带来一些好处。B项中的“We might hope”与下文的“you would expect”相呼应,“the good would outweigh the bad”与下文的“better for us than our aversive relationships”相契合。
38.上文“Another study at Brigham Young University found that simply knowing an ambivalent connection was nearby as participants prepared to give a speech was enough to send their blood pressure rocketing.(杨百翰大学的另一项研究发现,当参与者准备演讲时,仅仅知道一个爱恨交织的人就在附近,就足以让他们的血压飙升)”说明即使是无意识的提醒也会让人血压升高。C项中的“even unconscious reminders”与上文的“simply knowing”相呼应,“break our peace of mind”与上文的“send their blood pressure rocketing”相契合,进一步说明这种关系的影响。
39.上文“We can manage our expectations and mentally prepare ourselves for the mixed feelings when interacting with frenemies.(在与爱恨交织的人交往时,我们可以管理自己的期望,并在心理上为这种复杂的情感做好准备)”说明我们可以管理自己的期望,为复杂的情感做好准备。D项中的“This allows us”承接上文,“focus on their good qualities and show empathy for the unpleasant ones”与上文的“manage our expectations and mentally prepare ourselves”相契合,说明这样做的好处。
【答案】35.G 36.E 37.C 38.A 39.B
35.根据文章第二段首句“There is an arms race going on in the digital world.(数字世界正在进行一场军备竞赛)”以及后文“Understanding that evolutionary conflict can help us beat those who aim to lie to us. Disinformation certainly predates the existence of humans.(理解那种进化冲突可以帮助我们打败那些想对我们撒谎的人。虚假信息在人类出现之前就已经存在了。)”提到的进化冲突(evolutionary conflict)与虚假信息在人类出现之前就已经存在可知,此处需强调欺骗与诚实的对抗历史悠久。选项G“但欺骗与诚实的竞争与地球生命一样古老”与此呼应,衔接后文对自然界欺骗策略的讨论。故选G。
36.下文“Cuckoos lay their eggs in the nests of other birds. The foster parents are then deceived into raising the young of others at the expense of their own. More complex are cases where wild tufted capuchin monkeys may scream as though a predator (捕食者) is nearby to trick their fellow primates into running away from food.(杜鹃在别的鸟巢里下蛋。然后养父母被欺骗,以牺牲自己的孩子为代价抚养别人的孩子。更复杂的情况是,野生卷尾猴可能会尖叫,好像捕食者就在附近,以欺骗它们的灵长类同伴逃离食物。)”列举了杜鹃鸟和卷尾猴的欺骗行为,因此可知,此处总结动物界的虚假信息策略。选项E“我们在动物中也看到了虚假信息策略”是对本段内容的概括。故选E。
37.根据前文“More complex are cases where wild tufted capuchin monkeys may scream as though a predator(捕食者)is nearby to trick their fellow primates into running away from food.(更复杂的情况是,野生卷尾猴可能会尖叫,好像捕食者就在附近,以欺骗它们的灵长类同伴逃离食物。)”
38.根据前文“This links to the Red Queen hypothesis, which refers to a case where two organisms compete to outsmart each other.(这与红皇后假说有关,该假说指的是两种生物相互竞争以胜过对方的情况。)” Primates compete with each other.(杜鹃与宿主鸟类竞争,灵长类动物彼此竞争)”举例说明两种生物相互竞争以胜过对方,选项A“身体与癌症竞争。” 与第二段的“Cancer cells, for example, trick the immune system into treating them as a normal part of the body, causing white blood cells useless against them.(例如,癌细胞欺骗免疫系统,将其视为身体的正常部分,导致白细胞对其无效。)” 故选A。
39.根据上文“The good news is that we know enough about evolutionary thinking to predict which steps bad actors will take next.(好消息是,我们对进化思维有足够的了解,可以预测不良行为者下一步会采取什么步骤。)”以及下文“We have novel ways to trick it into evolving a weakness that we then take advantage of, a process called “evolutionary trapping”.(我们有新颖的方法来诱骗它进化出一个弱点,然后利用它,这个过程被称为‘进化陷阱’。)”

【答案】35.G 36.B 37.F 38.C 39.A

Sometimes, we might understand a joke on a cognitive level but not find it particularly amusing. Other times, we might laugh at something without fully understanding why it’s funny.
38.上文“Our cognitive and emotional responses to humor aren’t static. (我们对幽默的认知和情感反应不是静态的)”表明反应是会变化的,下文“A joke that had you rolling on the floor as a teenager might elicit nothing more than a groan in your adult years. Conversely, you might find yourself chuckling (轻声笑) at a subtle bit of wordplay that would have gone right over your head in your younger days. (一个在你青少年时期能让你笑得在地上打滚的笑话,在你成年后可能只会引发一声叹息。相反,你可能会发现自己在对一个微妙的文字游戏轻声发笑,而在你年轻时,这个文字游戏可能会让你完全摸不着头脑)”通过举例说明了随着年龄变化对笑话的反应不同。C选项“随着我们成长、学习和经历新事物,它们会随着时间而改变”中They指代上文的Our cognitive and emotional responses, change over time与下文的例子相呼应,符合语境。故选C。
39.上文“The cognitive and emotional processes involved in humor might seem trivial. (但当我们考虑到幽默在我们日常生活中是多么普遍时,就会明白理解这些过程对我们的幸福和社会互动有着深远的影响)”与上文形成转折,说明实际上理解这些过程很重要。A 选项“毕竟,这只是一笑而过,对吧?”表达了一种对幽默的轻视态度,与上文seem trivial相呼应,也能引出下文的转折,符合题意。故选A。

35.根据上文“And creating a life pattern that fuels creativity and productivity is quite simple, yet powerful: plan weekly and do daily.(创造一种激发创造力和生产力的生活模式非常简单,但却很有效:每周计划,每天执行)”可知,上文提出了一种生活模式,本句承接上文,说明这种方式的作用。
36.根据后文“What you plan for Monday might not be achievable by Wednesday. This is where a weekly big picture proves invaluable. Instead of rigidly planning every day, give yourself the breathing space of a week.(你周一的计划可能到周三就无法实现了。这就是每周的大图片被证明是无价的地方。不要严格地计划每一天,给自己一周的喘息空间)”可知,后文提到周一的计划可能到周三就无法实现了,体现了现实生活具有不可预测性。故C选项“日常生活是不可预测的”符合语境,故选C。
37.根据上文“When you plan weekly, you’ re afforded the luxury of arranging hours with more flexibility. Say, a surprise appointment crops up on Tuesday? No worries.(当你制定每周计划时,你就拥有了更灵活安排时间的特权。比如说,周二突然出现了一个意外的约会?不用担心)”可知,上文提到突然出现意外情况不要担心,推测本句是在给出应对的建议。故D选项“相应地调整你的焦点块”符合语境,故选D。
38.根据上文“Additionally, planning with a weekly perspective offers a bird’s eye view of your goals. It’s not just about pa king tasks, but about matching them with your broader objectives.(此外,每周计划可以让你鸟瞰你的目标。这不仅仅是要完成任务,而是要将它们与你更广泛的目标相匹配)”可知,本句与上文构成因果关系,指出每周计划需要和更广泛的目标保持一致性,故F选项“所以它确保你总是朝着你想要的方向前进”符合语境,故选F。
39.根据后文“Imagine having to eat an entire cake in one go. Impossible, right? But what if you had one slice a day? That’s the principle here. Instead of massive tasks, slice them into smaller, more digestible pieces. This way, you’re less likely to be overwhelmed (压垮) by the scale of a task and more likely to take steady action.(想象一下,你必须一口气吃掉整个蛋糕。不可能对吧?但是如果你一天吃一片呢?这就是这里的原则。不要做大量的任务,把它们切成更小、更容易消化的部分。这样,你就不太可能被任务的规模压垮,更有可能采取稳定的行动)”可知,本段的主要内容是建议分解自己的目标,故A选项“分解任务”符合语境,故选A。
