It is made from sticky rice, bean, pork and many other ingredients and covered by green leaves(usually banana leaves). Besides traditional reasons, Banh Chung is chosen as the main food for Tet holiday because it can last for nearly one month in the severe weather of Vietnam. Gio and Cha Gio and Cha(Vietnamese ham and sausage) are two kinds of traditional food in Tet holiday, and usually served with Xoi(sticky rice) and Banh Chung. The Vietnamese make Gio out of a variety of meat. After it is covered by leaves, it is boiled for hours. Cha is also made from different kinds of meat. However, it is not wrapped by leaves and boiled. Instead, it is deep-fried in oil. Cha just survives for some days while Gio can last for a month duc to its covers. There are many kinds of Gio, categorized by the meat: Gio Lua(made from pork), Gio Ga(made from chicken), Gio Bo(made from beef). Mut Tet Mut Tet(Tet jam) is not a food to serve in a meal during Tet holiday, but more like a snack to welcome guests in this special period. Mut is always kept in beautiful boxes and placed at the table in the living room for the hosts and guests to taste when they' re chatting. Unlike Western jams, which are usually in liquid form and served with bread, Mut Tet refers to various kinds of dried fruits and seeds(pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, watermelon seeds). Nowadays, cakes and candies are slowly replacing it in Tet period. 1. Why is Banh Chung chosen as the main food for Tet holiday? A. It is covered with leaves unique to Vietnam. B. It has proven to be one of the healthiest foods. C. It is made from the rarest materials in Vietnam. D. It can stay fresh for many days during the holiday. 2. What do Gio and Cha have in common? A. The package. B. The types of meat. C. The storage. D. The cooking method. 3. Which of the following are gaining popularity during Tet holiday? A. Western jams. B. Candies and cakes. C. Imported fruits. D. Watermelon seeds. D 2. B 3. 根据Banh Chung中“Besides traditional reasons, Banh Chung is chosen as the main food for Tet holiday because it can last for nearly one month in the severe weather of Vietnam.(除了传统的原因,Banh Chung被选为春节假期的主要食物,因为它可以在越南的恶劣天气下持续近一个月。)” 根据Gio and Cha中“The Vietnamese make Gio out of a variety of meat. After it is covered by leaves, it is boiled for hours. Cha is also made from different kinds of meat.(越南人用各种各样的肉做Gio。在被叶子覆盖后,煮上几个小时。Cha也是由不同种类的肉制成的。)”以及“There are many kinds of Gio, categorized by the meat: Gio Lua(made from pork), Gio Ga(made from chicken), Gio Bo(made from beef).( Gio有很多种,按肉分类:Gio Lua(猪肉),Gio Ga(鸡肉),Gio Bo(牛肉)。)” 根据最后一段中“Nowadays, cakes and candies are slowly replacing it in Tet period.(如今,在春节期间,蛋糕和糖果正在慢慢取代它。)” B When my brother died in an accident, I was only 4 years old. But I still felt the big change in my mom’s attitude toward safety. Overnight, I couldn’t walk home from school by myself, even though everyone I knew already did. I couldn’t go to summer camps, because what if something happened to me? As I grew up, the list got longer and longer. I know my mom was worried about me because after my brother died, I was her only child. As a result, I became a natural worrier. I worried about things like car accidents, earthquakes, losing my wallet — disasters big and small, real and imagined. The funny part is that you’d never know it by looking at my current life, because I have been constantly forcing myself to do things that frighten or worry me shortly after my mom’s death. Since then I have developed a rule for myself: If anything scares me, then I will force myself to do it at least once. As a result, I’ve done lots of things that my mom would have worried about: I’ve ridden a motorcycle and I’ve traveled — a lot. In fact. I am studying bird flu as a scientist. There’s something else I don’t usually talk about, but it’s a cornerstone in my belief: When I was 14, I made a decision that I would either live out the rest of my life trying to be “safe” or I could be brave enough to live out an exciting and, yes, sometimes dangerous life. Even though I inherited(继承) my mother’s cautious nature, I’ve also come to believe that the more often I do things that scare me, the more I realize that I can do a lot more than I originally thought I could do. Believing that has made my world a less scary place. 4. What does the author think of her mother? A. Courageous. B. Overprotective. C. Hardworking. D. Cruel. 5. How did the rules affect the author before her mother’s death? A. They led to much more freedom for her. B. They helped her to avoid a lot of accidents. C. They made her feel more and more worried. D. They encouraged her to be more adventurous. 6. What did the author do to overcome her fear? A. She tried to do those seemingly scary things. B. She stayed away from the unnecessary risks. C. She forced herself to focus on her current job. D. She persuaded her mother to stop protecting her. 7. What does the author most likely want to tell us? A. It’s funny for parents to worry about the kids. B. Fear can be a good thing to some degree. C. We should be careful in a dangerous world. D. We can achieve more if we can control our fear. B 5. C 6. A 7. 根据第一段“Overnight, I couldn’t walk home from school by myself, even though everyone I knew already did. I couldn’t go to summer camps, because what if something happened to me? As I grew up, the list got longer and longer.(夜间,我不能自己从学校走回家,尽管我认识的每个人都这样做了。我不能去夏令营,因为万一我出了事怎么办?随着我的成长,这个清单变得越来越长)”及下文作者的变化可推断,她认为她妈妈有点过度保护。故选B。 【5题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段“As a result, I became a natural worrier. I worried about things like car accidents, earthquakes, losing my wallet — disasters big and small, real and imagined.(结果,我成了一个天生的忧虑者。我担心诸如车祸、地震、丢了钱包之类的事情——或大或小、真实或想象的灾难)”可知,那些规矩让她感到越来越焦虑。故选C。 【6题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“The funny part is that you’d never know it by looking at my current life, because I have been constantly forcing myself to do things that frighten or worry me shortly after my mom’s death.(有趣是,看看我现在的生活,你永远不会知道这一点,因为在我妈妈去世后不久,我一直在强迫自己做一些让我害怕或担心的事情)”可知,作者克服恐惧的方法是强迫自己去尝试自己害怕的事。故选A。 根据最后一段“Even though I inherited(继承) my mother’s cautious nature, I’ve also come to believe that the more often I do things that scare me, the more I realize that I can do a lot more than I originally thought I could do. Believing that has made my world a less scary place.(尽管我继承了母亲谨慎的性格,但我也开始相信,我越经常做那些让我害怕的事情,我就越意识到我能做的比我原来认为的要多得多。相信这一点让我的世界变得不那么可怕)”可推断,作者认为如果能克服恐惧,我们就可以更多地释放自己的潜能。故选D。 C It is not generally realized, for example, that a tale written in China in the ninth century is the world’s oldest known version of the story of Cinderella. The next earliest was not published until seven hundred years later — in Lyons, France, in 1544. In addition, 350 other stories that are related in some way to Cinderella have been collected from every continent. Those Cinderella stories fall into two main groups. In one, the focus is on the ball, while comparatively little attention is paid to the supernatural force that helps her. This is the type most familiar to us and most commonly found in western Europe. In those found in eastern Europe, much attention is paid to the helpful animals. But the Chinese version contains both. Old though it is, the Chinese version shows definite signs of having been based on still earlier — and now lost — versions. The incident of the ball, for example, is linked with the rest of the story so unnaturally that it seems that the author has borrowed this incident from some still earlier version, but without clearly understanding its significance. It will also be remembered that the king who married the girl came from a country called T’o-huan. Though this country is not identified in the story, we know from Chinese historical writings of that time that there was a small country by that name located near a region called T’o-ho-lo. And T’o-ho-lo can be identified with certainty as close to the modern city of Bangkok in Thailand. This makes it probable that the Chinese story of Cinderella did not originate in China, but was taken there from Southeast Asia, perhaps by the Arabs who went as traders to Canton in large numbers. This story shows that the same simple virtues which are regarded as basic in the West have been emphasized for centuries in China and other parts of Asia. It is but one example of the way a story or an idea can travel all over the world. 8. What phenomenon is described in the first paragraph? A. A story usually has different origins. B. Chinese literature has a very long history. C. Different countries may have similar stories. D. French literature was influenced by the Chinese. 9. What is unique about the Chinese version of Cinderella? A. The plot develops more naturally. B. It is centered on those helpful animals. C. Relatively little attention is paid to the ball. D. It stresses both the ball and the supernatural force. 10. Which evidence shows that the Chinese version originates in Southeast Asia? A. The original writer’s identity. B. Some related historical records. C. A newly found version of the story. D. A well-known kingdom in the story. 11. How is the text mainly developed? A. By analyzing an example. B. By reviewing studies. C. By telling a very old story. D. By conducting surveys. C 9. D 10. B 11. 根据第一段“It is not generally realized, for example, that a tale written in China in the ninth century is the world’s oldest known version of the story of Cinderella. The next earliest was not published until seven hundred years later— in Lyons, France, in 1544. In addition, 350 other stories that are related in some way to Cinderella have been collected from every continent.(例如,人们普遍没有意识到,九世纪写在中国的一个故事是世界上已知的最古老的灰姑娘的故事版本。下一个最早的版本直到七百年后的1544年才在法国里昂出版。此外,还从世界各地收集了350个与灰姑娘有关的故事。)”可知,根据第一段的实例以及数据可知,不同的国家可能有相似的故事。故选C项。 【9题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段“Those Cinderella stories fall into two main groups. In one, the focus is on the ball, while comparatively little attention is paid to the supernatural force that helps her. This is the type most familiar to us and most commonly found in western Europe. In those found in eastern Europe, much attention is paid to the helpful animals. But the Chinese version contains both.(灰姑娘的故事主要分为两类。其中一个故事的焦点是舞会,而帮助她的超自然力量相对较少受到关注。这是我们最熟悉的类型,在西欧最常见。在东欧发现的那些动物中,人们非常关注有用的动物。但中文版本两者都包含。)”可知,中国版的灰姑娘的中国版的灰姑娘是它同时强调舞会和超自然力量。故选D项。 【10题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中“Though this country is not identified in the story, we know from Chinese historical writings of that time that there was a small country by that name located near a region called T’o-ho-lo. And T’o-ho-lo can be identified with certainty as close to the modern city of Bangkok in Thailand. This makes it probable that the Chinese story of Cinderella did not originate in China, but was taken there from Southeast Asia, perhaps by the Arabs who went as traders to Canton in large numbers.(虽然这个国家在故事中没有被确定,但我们从当时的中国历史著作中知道,在一个叫做“T'o-ho-lo”的地区附近有一个叫这个名字的小国。而T'o-ho-lo可以确定为接近泰国的现代城市曼谷。这使得中国的灰姑娘故事很可能不是起源于中国,而是由东南亚带到中国的,也许是由大量前往广州经商的阿拉伯人带到中国的。)”可知,一些相关的历史记录证据表明中国版本起源于东南亚。故选B项。 【11题详解】 推理判断题。通读全文,特别是第一段中“It is not generally realized, for example, that a tale written in China in the ninth century is the world’s oldest known version of the story of Cinderella.(例如,人们普遍没有意识到,九世纪写在中国的一个故事是世界上已知的最古老的灰姑娘的故事版本。)”以及最后一段中“It is but one example of the way a story or an idea can travel all over the world.(这只是一个故事或想法可以传遍世界的例子。)” 故选A项。 D Last year, global investment in wind and solar energy was greater than the money spent on new and existing coal and gas power plants for the first time. As a happy consequence, the green transition (转型) may have sped up by five to ten years. Yet the governments can do more. One problem is the time-consuming process of obtaining permits. Endless delays have long been a barrier to new projects in America and Europe. The gains from shortening the process can be huge. The International Energy Agency (IEA) estimates that renewable power would rise by an extra 25% by 2027 if such barriers were removed. The bigger problem is that some renewables providers are now rethinking their investments altogether, because green energy projects are becoming less attractive. Between January 2021 and April 2024, the prices of everything from shipping to industrial metals rose remarkably, which in turn raised the prices of solar and wind energy systems. Higher interest rates have become a headache for builders of green power plants, which are much hungrier for loans than power plants fueled by coal and gas. Such costs would be manageable if they could be passed on. But around the world, renewable energy contracts are being designed to keep electricity cheap — so cheap that generators will struggle to make money. All these barriers are clogging up project pipelines. From America to Asia, wind developers are trying to renegotiate financing deals, delaying construction or canceling contracts because some projects have become unprofitable. In America, many solar projects are postponed, and in Europe, fewer agreements to buy the power they generate are being signed. Studies have shown that if investing is to stay attractive, green power will need to be sold at higher prices than governments would like. 12. What can be learned from the second paragraph? A. Governments have already tried their best. B. Governmental permits are not necessary. C. There is great potential for renewables' growth. D. Non-renewables will rise by another 25% by 2027. 13. What is the third paragraph mainly about? A The price of electricity. B. The challenges faced by coal power plants. C. The availability of loans. D. The declining profit for renewables providers. 14. Which is closest in meaning to “clogging up” underlined in paragraph 4? A Blocking. B. Cleaning. C. Expanding. D. Benefiting. 15. What do governments need to do according to the text? A. Delay some solar projects. B. Raise the price of green power. C. Cancel unprofitable contracts. D. Provide more loans to generators. C 13. D 14. A 15. 根据第二段“One problem is the time-consuming process of obtaining permits. Endless delays have long been a barrier to new projects in America and Europe. The gains from shortening the process can be huge. The International Energy Agency(IEA) estimates that renewable power would rise by an extra 25% by 2027 if such barriers were removed.(一个问题是获得许可证的过程很耗时。在美国和欧洲,无休止的拖延一直是新项目的障碍。缩短这一过程的收益可能是巨大的。国际能源署(IEA)估计,如果消除这些障碍,到2027年,可再生能源将再增长25%。)”可推知,从第二段可以得知可再生能源发展潜力巨大。故选C项。 【13题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第三段中“The bigger problem is that some renewables providers are now rethinking their investments altogether, because green energy projects are becoming less attractive. Between January 2021 and April 2024, the prices of everything from shipping to industrial metals rose remarkably, which in turn raised the prices of solar and wind energy systems. Higher interest rates have become a headache for builders of green power plants, which are much hungrier for loans than power plants fueled by coal and gas.(更大的问题是,一些可再生能源供应商现在正在重新考虑他们的投资,因为绿色能源项目的吸引力正在下降。从2021年1月到2024年4月,从航运到工业金属的所有价格都大幅上涨,这反过来又提高了太阳能和风能系统的价格。较高的利率已经成为绿色发电厂建设者的头疼之事,与燃煤和天然气发电厂相比,绿色发电厂更需要贷款。)”可知,第三段主要讲的是可再生能源供应商的利润下降。故选D项。 【14题详解】 词义猜测题。根据第四段中“From America to Asia, wind developers are trying to renegotiate financing deals, delaying construction or canceling contracts because some projects have become unprofitable. In America, many solar projects are postponed, and in Europe, fewer agreements to buy the power they generate are being signed.(从美国到亚洲,风能开发商正试图重新谈判融资协议,推迟建设或取消合同,因为一些项目已经无利可图。在美国,许多太阳能项目被推迟,而在欧洲,购买太阳能发电的协议也越来越少。)”由此可知,此处为所有这些障碍都堵塞了项目的发展。由此可知,划线短语clogging up为“堵塞”的意思,和A选项Blocking“阻挡”意思相近。故选A项。 根据最后一段“Studies have shown that if investing is to stay attractive, green power will need to be sold at higher prices than governments would like.(研究表明,如果要保持投资的吸引力,绿色能源就需要以高于政府期望的价格出售。)” Here’s the bad news: misunderstanding about masculinity (男子汉气概) is hurting males and making it hard for them to maintain friendships.____16____. They listen to each other. They read each other’s emotions. However, they tend to hide their true feelings in their late teenage because society expects them to be tough. ____17____. Don’t blame yourself. You are a product of a society that expects very particular things of masculinity. So stop blaming yourself. ____18____. If you accept your own desire for close relationship in your life, you will find the friendship. Get involved at tough moments. Boys sometimes are worried whether they might appear too curious about their friends’ private matters. ____19____. But if you get involved at such moments, you will open the door to all kinds of growth in your relationship. So take the opportunity to show them that they matter by following up. ____20____. Researchers say that the No.1 thing that helps children (especially boys) grow up to have enriching friendships is to be close with adult relatives who are not afraid to express their emotions. So, if you have expressive grownup relatives, try to be close to them. They can serve as role models for you to show your true feelings in a better way. A. Look at masculinity critically B. So here is what they should do C. Get close to expressive adults in your life D. You need to face something really disturbing E. Instead, focus on undoing hurtful and restricting belief systems F. It is especially true when their friends are sharing something tough G. The good news is that boys are born caring and loving, just as girls do 【答案】16. G 17. B 18. E 19. F 20. 【16题详解】 根据空前“Here’s the bad news: misunderstanding about masculinity(男子汉气概)is hurting males and making it hard for them to maintain friendships.(这里有个坏消息:对男子气概的误解正在伤害男性,使他们难以维持友谊。)”及空后“They listen to each other. They read each other’s emotions.(他们互相倾听。他们能读懂彼此的情绪。)”可知,空项应该会提到“好消息”,起承前启后的作用,故G项“好消息是,男孩和女孩一样,天生有爱心”符合语境,故选G项。 【17题详解】 空前“However, they tend to hide their true feelings in their late teenage because society expects them to be tough.(然而,在他们的青少年后期他们往往隐藏自己的真实感受,因为社会期望他们是坚强的。)” 【18题详解】 根据空前“You are a product of a society that expects very particular things of masculinity. So stop blaming yourself.(你是一个对男子气概有特殊要求的社会的产物。所以不要再责怪自己了。)”及空后“If you accept your own desire for close relationship in your life, you will find the friendship.(如果你在生活中接受自己对亲密关系的渴望,你就会找到友谊。)” 及空后“But if you get involved at such moments, you will open the door to all kinds of growth in your relationship.(但如果你在这样的时刻投入其中,你就会打开一扇门,让你们的关系得到各种各样的发展。)” 根据下文“Researchers say that the No.1 thing that helps children(especially boys)grow up to have enriching friendships is to be close with adult relatives who are not afraid to express their emotions. So, if you have expressive grownup relatives, try to be close to them. They can serve as role models for you to show your true feelings in a better way.(研究人员表示,帮助孩子(尤其是男孩)成长拥有丰富的友谊的首要因素是与不怕表达自己情感的成年亲属保持亲密关系。 Children are not often invited to address the United Nations General Assembly In his report, Finkbeiner ___28___ to plant one million trees in Germany. Finkbeiner’s teacher was deeply impressed with the idea and asked him to ___29___ his report to other students and the headmaster. Of course, no one ___30___ anything to come out of it. But two months later, he planted his first tree, an unimpressive apple tree, near the entrance to his school. His campaign was a ___31___ and had a dramatic close. By the time he delivered his ___32___ at the UN in New York in 2011, at the age of 13, Germany had planted its millionth tree. “If I had known then how much international media coverage that apple tree would ___33___,” he says now, a little ___34___, “I would have insisted my mother buy a more ___35___ one.” 21. She used to celebrate her birthdays with big parties attended by her friends. However, this year is different. The burden of homework and her parents’ struggling business weigh heavily on her. So she has asked her parents to cancel the celebration, even though it is an event she has enjoyed dearly since she was a kid. Sensing Mary’s sadness, Jane, one of her best friends, asked one day, “What’s the matter? You seem unhappy these days.” “Nothing serious,” said Mary. “Are you going to have a birthday party this year? ” Jane asked. “No,” Mary sighed, “There’s just too much going on and my parents are going through financial difficulties.” Mary forced a smile to cover up her disappointment. Jane saw through her easily, but she did not say anything. Since then, Mary sees Jane occasionally talking to their classmates secretively during the breaks. Whenever Mary goes over to them, they fall silent or change topics immediately, leaving Mary feeling left out. “What is happening? Are they keeping something from me? But Jane has never kept secrets from me before,” Mary wonders with a sinking heart. “Now, even my best friends are distancing themselves from me!” Deeply disturbed, Mary has been trying desperately to figure out what is happening and wants to win them over again. However, her efforts have not paid off. No one wants to tell her the truth and she is repeatedly told that Jane does not allow them to tell her. It really hurts, because Jane is one of her closest friends. On her birthday, Mary goes to school as usual but what she sees in the morning really upsets her. The classroom, normally buzzing with loud noises, is oddly quiet. Her classmates whisper in small groups and cast quick glances her way. They quickly turn away when she catches their eyes. Her heart sinks when she walks to her seat. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Among the “Happy Birthday!” song, Jane presents Mary a hand-drawn card signed by her classmates. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Her heart sinks when she walks to her seat. Her mind races as she settles in her seat, feeling more isolated with each passing minute. As soon as Mary jumps up, the classroom is filled with laughter which is followed by the birthday song. Among the “Happy Birthday!” song, Jane presents Mary a hand-drawn card signed by her classmates. At that moment, the heavy weight of loneliness and anxiety that burdened Mary for days is replaced by overwhelming joy and gratitude. Overnight, I couldn’t walk home from school by myself, even though everyone I knew already did. I couldn’t go to summer camps, because what if something happened to me? As I grew up, the list got longer and longer. I know my mom was worried about me because after my brother died I was her only child. C It is not generally realized, for example, that a tale written in China in the ninth century is the world’s oldest known version of the story of Cinderella. D Last year, global investment in wind and solar energy was greater than the money spent on new and existing coal and gas power plants for the first time. A. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
