主题词汇 动物种类:dolphin(海豚)、gorilla(大猩猩)、beaver(河狸)、pigeon(鸽子)、dodo(渡渡鸟)。 功能描述:pollinate(传粉)、rescue(救援)、guide(引导)、guard(守护)、communicate(沟通)。 情感态度:loyal(忠诚的)、compassionate(有同情心的)、amazing(神奇的)、endangered(濒危的)。 环保行动:protect(保护)、recycle(回收)、habitat(栖息地)、ecosystem(生态系统)、sustainable(可持续的)。 场景词汇:wilderness(荒野)、ocean(海洋)、forest(森林)、island(岛屿)、zoo(动物园)。 2. Dolphins are known for their ability to guide swimmers away from danger.(海豚以引导游泳者远离危险的能力著称。) Bees play a crucial role in pollinating flowers and crops.(蜜蜂在为花卉和农作物授粉中起关键作用。) Dodos died out because humans hunted them and destroyed their habitats.(渡渡鸟灭绝是因为人类捕猎并破坏了它们的栖息地。) If we protect forests, we can save many endangered species.(如果我们保护森林,就能拯救许多濒危物种。) Guide dogs are more trained than ordinary pets.(导盲犬比普通宠物接受过更多训练。) Elephants in Thailand are treated with respect, while some are mistreated in other regions.(泰国的大象受到尊重,而有些地区的大象遭到虐待。) I was moved by the gorilla's act of protecting the child.(大猩猩保护孩子的行为让我感动。) It's important to show kindness to animals.(对动物友善很重要。) What animals might be heroes? How do they help humans?",结合已有知识(如狗、海豚)进行推测。 2. What can we do to prevent more animals from becoming extinct?",结合环保措施(如建立自然保护区)提出建议。 4. Animals are our fantastic friends"的主题。 1 I have a new hobby this year. My hobby is collecting insects I like insects. They are interesting, and they can be very beautiful. I find insects in many different places, such as the yard around my house or the park near my school. When I see a new insect, I put it in a glass bottle. I look at it very carefully. If it’s small, I use a magnifying glass (放大镜). Then I try to find out what kind of insect it is. I have some books about insects to help me. After that, I draw a picture of it in my notebook. It’s an owl, of course! The owl is different from all other birds in so many ways. The owl’s hearing and eyesight are better than most animals. All day long, the owl rests on the tree and sleeps. It hunts (捕猎) only at night. When evening comes, the animals all get to a safe place. The owl opens its big, round eyes to look around. Any little animals around had better be careful. The owl eats small animals like mice as food, but it wouldn’t say no to another bird, if it’s really hungry. The owl uses its great hearing to find its food, and then it turns its head from side to side, using its sharp (敏锐的) eyes to fly after the animal. Finally, it flies down to get the animal. Owls have special, soft feathers (羽毛), so they can fly without making any sound. Owls are good hunters and they can even catch a fly in the air! The owl is usually quiet, except (除了) when you get too close to its home. The mother owl is a great mother. She will protect her babies by opening her feathers angrily. She will even hurt people if she thinks her babies are in danger! The owl has no teeth, so it eats an animal whole. (①=Paragraph 1) A. B. C. D. 3 All over the world, when people say “man’s best friend”, they don’t mean another person. Instead, they are talking about a lovely animal—a dog! These words show the friendship between people and animals. Dogs and other pets can give joy to people’s lives. Some people think of their pets as their children. Some people even leave all their money to their pets when they die! Animals can be very helpful to people. People teach the dogs to be the “eyes” for a blind person or “ears” for a deaf person. Scientists have found that pets help people live longer! They make people happier too. Because of that, they bring animals into hospitals for “visits”. People hold “Be Kind to Animals Week” in the first week of May. Pet shows are held during the week. If you can’t take part in it, you can also do other things. First, think about how animals make your life richer. If you have a pet, spend more time this week playing with it. Remember to give it delicious food. △ For example, if you see a street dog, just leave it alone, or make friends with it. If others around you do bad things to animals, try to speak up. As people, we must protect animals who can’t speak for themselves. 10.What can we learn from the underlined sentences in the first paragraph? A.Some pets are very important to the owners. There are about 100 villagers living on the island, but the number of goats here is about six times (倍) that of villagers on the island now. So Mayor Riccardo Gullo is trying to do something with the problem. He has a plan: giving free goats to anyone catching them. Gullo said if someone wants to do it, they should first email the government (政府) and then pay a $17 “stamp fee”. After that they can take as many goats as they wish, but they need to take the goats off the island in 15 days. Gullo also said the government doesn’t care about what people do with the goats. But he said he’d like to see people feed them, instead of (而不是) selling or eating them. The island got its first goats 20 years ago. At that time, a farmer brought some to Alicudi. He tried to keep the goats in his garden at first, but he didn’t make it. They ended up running and living on the island freely. The goats attract (吸引) many tourists to the island, but too many goats break (打破) the quiet life on the island. And the goats sometimes get into the villagers’ gardens and homes. That scares the villagers a lot. 23.How many goats are there on Alicudi now? A.About one hundred. B.About two hundred. C.About five hundred. D.About six hundred. 24.What’s the right order of getting goats for free? ① Go and catch goats.         ②Pay a “stamp fee”. ③Send an email to the government.     ④ Take the goats off Alicudi in about half a month. D.A zoo keeper. 27.The villagers on Alicudi are ________ to see goats coming into their houses. A.Scared B.relaxed C.interested D.surprised 7 Do you like playing little jokes (玩笑) on your friends and family? A new study found we’re not the only ones like doing this. Big apes (猿) have great fun doing this too. A group of scientists (科学家) spent a lot of time studying the apes from San Diego Zoo in the US and Leipzig Zoo in Germany. They were surprised to find out apes love to monkey around in many ways. Some apes would give their friends something only to take it back quickly, or even tickle (挠痒痒) each other happily. They liked to catch their friends’ hair and some even walked into their friends and fell over for fun. Often, if one ape didn’t play back, the other ape would keep doing the same funny things again and again. The young apes, around three to five years old, enjoyed doing this the most, just like little kids do. Dr. Isabelle Laumer, one scientist in this group, told the newspaper, “When little kids play jokes on their mother, they like to watch how she feels carefully. We see that in these great apes, too.” What’s more, the study found that these young apes make special sounds when playing jokes, different from the sounds they often make. It’s their way to show their happiness for monkeying around. Next, scientists need to spend more time finding out why the apes love playing jokes on each other. They think knowing this can help us learn more about how apes and people show their feelings. 28.What fun things would apes do to joke with each other? ①They give food to their friends.        ②They walk into each other. ③They tickle each other.                ④They make special sounds. A.②③④ B.①②④ C.①③④ D.①②③ 29.Here are meanings of “monkey” in the dictionary. Which is the meaning of the underlined word “monkey” in Paragraph 1? We know that dogs can help blind people go to some places. Now, horses can do it too. Digby is a small American horse. Now, it is the first guide horse in England. And its owner is a blind man named Mohammed Patel. Patel is afraid of dogs, so he chooses Digby as his guide. Digby gets a lot of training with Patel. It learns to walk slowly and lead Patel to walk on the street and get books and magazines for him. It also helps Patel choose clothes when he goes shopping. Now, it is not a small horse. It is very big and about 0.8 metres tall, so Patel can’t take it to his company (公司). When Patel takes it to the office, it knocks (碰) things off the desks. So Patel has to say goodbye to Digby. Digby is very unhappy. Luckily, Digby has a new job. It helps blind people travel around some places in London. As we know, a guide dog has only eight years of working life, but a guide horse can work for about 40 years. So a guide horse can be a “lifelong friend” for people. 37.Why does Mohammed Patel choose Digby as his “eyes”? A.Because Digby is tall. B.Because guide dogs are expensive. By placing tiny QR codes (代码) on the backs of the bees, the researchers can keep track of when the bees leave and return to their hives. The work will help scientists learn more about how bees collect food and how far they travel. They decided to use simple codes called “AprilTags”. These codes are easy for cameras to track and decode (解码), even when the lighting isn’t good. They are small, and can be glued (粘) onto the back of a bee without causing any harm. By placing a solar-powered camera and a tiny computer above the entrance to a hive, the researchers could track the movements of each tagged bee They could tell when each bee left the hive and when it returned. They could also record the temperature. The new system gave the researchers a lot of information about the bees’ movements. They found that most trips outside the hive took between one and four minutes. The scientists think these short trips were used for quick jobs like checking the weather or pooping. Most trips, even longer ones, were shorter than 20 minutes. But about 34% of the bees took trips that lasted longer than two hours. The scientists say this could show that the bees were making longer trips to collect food. The researchers noticed that the bees spent more time out collecting when there were fewer flowers around. But some of these “long trips” could also be mistakes, where the camera didn’t catch the bee returning. The scientists were surprised by how long the bees lived. Before the study, scientists thought honey bees lived for about 28 days. But the tagged bees didn’t start collecting food until they were roughly two weeks old. And the researchers discovered that the bees continued to collect food for six weeks after that. Scientists know that bees use a special “waggle dance” to communicate with each other about where to collect food. Now the researchers want to see how their new tracking information matches up with these special movements. They plan to teach beekeepers and other scientists how to use their tracking system. 41.What is the main purpose of the study? A.To discover how bees build their hives. B.To stop bees from getting lost during long trips. C.To teach bees how to communicate using QR codes. D.To track bee movements and learn about their behavior. 42.The researchers use AprilTags to track the bees mainly because ________. A.they last longer than other types of tags B.they help bees communicate with each other C.they are small and easy for cameras to follow D.they cause no harm and can check the weather 43.What is one important finding of the study? A.All bees leave the hive early in the morning. B.Bees fly longer when there are more flowers. C.Bees live longer than scientists once believed. D.Bees don’t stop collecting food until 6 weeks old. 44.What makes this study meaningful? A.It shows how temperature possibly affects bee movements. B.It may help scientists better understand the “waggle dance”. C.It proves that bees are likely to use QR codes to communicate. D.It may help beekeepers earn more money from honey sales. 11 Cleaners help to keep cities clean. But their work is really difficult. Now here comes good news. This month, there are six very special cleaners in a park in Moscow. They are black crows. There are about 45 kinds of crows in the world. They eat meat, leaves, fruit and even eggs. They like living together with other crows. They work in the day and sleep at night. Let’s know more about these special cleaners. At the park, workers teach the crows to pick up trash. The crows put the trash into a small box. After helping to clean the park, they get bird food for their good work. How lovely they are! This means people can teach some of the animals to do special things like the clever crows, the BBC says. When some people know the clever crows, they come to the park to take photos of them. The park chooses crows because they are clever. Early this year, some scientists made a special box for crows. They find crows can remember the right size of paper and put it into the box. This is a good example of how clever these birds can be. 45.There are ________ clever crows in the park. A.6 B.25 C.4 D.3 46.The underlined words “pick up” means ________ in Paragraph 2. 47.After cleaning in the park, the crows can get ________. A.meat B.leaves C.eggs D.bird food 48.According to BBC, we can know that ________. How do they help humans?",结合已有知识(如狗、海豚)进行推测。 2. 细节定位与标注 技巧:用下划线标记动物名称、功能及关键事件,如在渡渡鸟的文章中标注"17世纪灭绝""人类捕猎"等信息。 应用:通过定位"dolphin rescue in New Zealand",快速找到海豚驱赶鲨鱼的具体描述。 3. 批判性思考与延伸 技巧:分析文本隐含信息,如渡渡鸟灭绝的故事背后,思考人类活动对生态的影响。 应用:讨论问题:"What can we do to prevent more animals from becoming extinct?",结合环保措施(如建立自然保护区)提出建议。 4. 跨文本整合 技巧:对比不同文章中动物的角色,如将导盲犬的工作与蜜蜂的生态作用结合,总结动物对人类的多元价值。 应用:撰写短文时,整合多个案例(如海豚救人、河狸筑坝),论证"Animals are our fantastic friends"的主题。 综合实战演练 1 I have a new hobby this year. My hobby is collecting insects (收集昆虫). I like insects. They are interesting, and they can be very beautiful. I find insects in many different places, such as the yard around my house or the park near my school. When I see a new insect, I put it in a glass bottle. I look at it very carefully. A.My new hobby B.How to draw pictures C.How to learn about insects D.Where to find insects 2 To-wit-to-woo, to-wit-to-woo! What’s that strange sound coming from the forest at night? All the parts of the animal that the owl can’t digest (消化) will end up as small pieces. If you find these small pieces, you know you are near an owl’s home. 6.What does the underlined word “eyesight” mean in Chinese? A.眼眶 B.视力 C.眼睛 D.眼神 7.What can we learn about the owl’s hunting habit? A.The owl goes to a safe place at night. B.The owl hunts in the daytime. C.The owl may eat birds as its food. D.The owl uses its sharp eyes to find food. 8.From the text we know that ________. A.the owl is not the same as all other birds in many ways B.the owl likes to catch a fly in the air C.the mother owl will fly away, if you walk close to its home D.the owl eats a small piece of animal at a time 9.Which of the following shows the structure (结构) of the text? By placing a solar-powered camera and a tiny computer above the entrance to a hive, the researchers could track the movements of each tagged bee (贴标签的蜜蜂). They could tell when each bee left the hive and when it returned.
