Painting is silent poetry, and poetry is painting that speaks.
—Simonides of Ceos (page 29)

A global children’s charity art exhibition, Small Canvas for the Mind, took place at Haitang Academy in Beijing’s Yuanmingyuan Park from May 10 to 12. This event put the creative works of young artists from around the world on display.
The exhibition featured 40 paintings created by children aged 6 to 16 from various countries and regions, including China, Singapore, Canada, and Hungary. Using art as a universal language, these young artists expressed themes like emotion, personal growth, and mutual understanding. Through their art, they opened a special window for adults to peek into the inner world of children.
The exhibition was the brainchild of two young art enthusiasts who are also active participants in charitable activities — 9-year-old Zhang Yuxiao and 10-year-old Zhang Yucheng. “Sometimes adults fail to understand how kids feel because we’re not good at expressing ourselves,” Yuxiao said. “So, we paint our thoughts. That way, adults can get to know us better. I started this exhibition hoping that adults would understand children’s thoughts more deeply.”
From hundreds of submissions, the keepers carefully chose 40 artworks. These pieces stood out because of their emotional depth and creative power. A special highlight was a device piece. Yucheng worked together with device artist Xu Zhuo’er to create it. The work was inspired by Yucheng’s mother’s favorite animal — the rabbit. Xu explained, “While talking with Yucheng, I could feel her deep love for her mother. She told me many stories about her mom, but also shared that there were some feelings she didn’t express easily.”
“What these children offer is not just artistic inspiration — it’s a brand-new perspective on the world,” Xu said. Psychology educator Wen Hongyang attended the exhibition’s opening ceremony. He stressed the importance of taking care of children’s emotional well-being. “Children’s mental health is the foundation of their lifelong happiness. Art provides a gentle but powerful way for communication without making children feel stressed,” he added.

Passage 1
(2025-2026学年黑龙江省哈师大青冈实验中学高二上学期开学初考试)When Joshua White was growing up in southeastern Indiana, he would lie in his backyard for hours observing ants and bugs. He met the little creatures with a sense of wonder and engaged himself in understanding the mysteries of the natural world.
White grew up to become an artist. He recently moved to North Carolina, where he still spends considerable time as he did in childhood: walking near his house and carefully looking at his surroundings. What has changed is that he now captures the little animals with a smartphone camera that allows him to better study them and share the photos with viewers beyond his backyard.
His lifelong love of the natural world is reflected in his project “A Photographic Survey of the American Yard”. Compared with Charles Darwin, who traveled great distances to observe and sketch plants and animals that existed in nearly inaccessible places, White records the plants and animals that are frequent seen in everyday life but are rarely considered noteworthy.
White believes that most of us don’t think often enough about the world we inhabit or what goes on under our feet. Though some creatures are often regarded as something insignificant or even pests, White’s images ask us to recognize not only that they’re here but also that they’re important.
1. What do we know about White’s childhood?
A. He showed great interest in arts.
B. He had an inborn love for nature.
C. He was a good catcher of ants and bugs.
D. He collected a lot of pictures of nature.
2. What is most people’s attitude towards their surroundings according to White?
A. Concerned. B. Curious. C. Unfriendly. D. Neglectful.
3. Which of the following sayings may White agree with?
A. Beauty is around us all the time.
B. Scenery is fine, but human nature is finer.
C. Drive slow and enjoy the scenery; drive fast and join the scenery.
D. There is nothing more interesting than the landscape of the human face.
4. Which can be the best title for the passage?
A. A Lifelong Passion for Art. B. A Photographic Survey
C. Art from an American Backyard D. The Functions of Smartphone Cameras
B 2. D 3. A 4. C
根据第一段“When Joshua White was growing up in southeastern Indiana, he would lie in his backyard for hours observing ants and bugs. He met the little creatures with a sense of wonder and engaged himself in understanding the mysteries of the natural world.(当约书亚·怀特在印第安纳州东南部长大的时候,他经常躺在后院几个小时观察蚂蚁和虫子。他带着好奇遇见这些小生物,全身心投入去了解自然界的奥秘)”可知,怀特童年时就对自然有天生的热爱。故选B。
2. 细节理解题。根据第四段中“White believes that most of us don’t think often enough about the world we inhabit or what goes on under our feet.(怀特认为,我们大多数人并不经常思考我们所居住的世界或脚下发生的事情)”可知,多数人对周围环境的态度是忽视的。故选D。
根据第三段中“Compared with Charles Darwin, who traveled great distances to observe and sketch plants and animals that existed in nearly inaccessible places, White records the plants and animals that are frequent seen in everyday life but are rarely considered noteworthy.(查尔斯·达尔文长途跋涉去观察和描绘几乎人迹罕至的地方的动植物,与他相比,怀特记录的是那些在日常生活中经常看到但很少被认为值得注意的动植物)”可推知,怀特可能认同“美一直就在我们身边”这一说法。故选A。
文章主要围绕怀特从小热爱自然,长大后开展“A Photographic Survey of the American Yard”项目,用摄影记录身边动植物展开,C选项“Art from an American Backyard(来自美国后院的艺术)”概括了文章主旨,适合做标题。故选C。
Passage 2
Just by typing a few keywords and waiting a few seconds, a picture comparable to that painted by a human artist appears on screen. In some paintings created by AI, an elderly man can become a handsome animated image, and pets can be turned into adorable cartoon girls or boys. Ordinary people without any painting skills can be the possessors of a wonderful artwork with just a few taps of the keyboard.
However, new things are always accompanied by controversy(争议). Issues such as whether AI art generators will replace human artists, and the copyrights on AI paintings are being hotly debated.
Huang Ge, an illustrator from Shanghai, said that it usually takes several hours or days to complete one illustration. But with AI art generators, the efficiency is greatly improved. Ding Jiao, a comic artist, considers the popularity of AI art generators reasonable as many people who are not good at drawing can create great works through them and they can satisfy users’ curiosity.
So is AI painting gradually replacing human painting? In the hot topic “Using a picture to prove that human artists will never be replaced by AI” online, many netizens uploaded their paintings to prove that humans are better than AI.
“Though AI technology has developed rapidly, AI cannot replace humans as it can just copy human behavior. The warmth and inspiration in human creations are irreplaceable,” said Ding Daoshi, an independent analyst in the Internet sector.
Another controversial issue is that there is no consensus(共识) of who owns the copyright of AI art. Some users have openly sold their AI paintings and earned money, but it is still a gray area about whether these artworks belong to the users, the digital tool developers or even AI. Ding Daoshi noted that the various sides should get together to debate the issue and come up with some accepted rules as soon as possible, because AI is already involved deeply into the lives of human beings.
5. What can ordinary people achieve with AI art generators in a few seconds?
A. Learn advanced painting skills.
B. Sell their paintings for huge profits.
C. Replace professional artists completely.
D. Create impressive artworks without drawing ability.
6. What is Ding Daoshi’s attitude toward AI replacing human artists?
A. Human creativity and warmth are irreplaceable.
B. AI will soon replace humans completely.
C. AI is superior to humans in every way.
D. AI lacks commercial value.
7. What does the underlined phrase “gray area” in paragraph 6 probably mean?
A. A dark shadow. B. A colorful picture.
C. An unclear or undecided situation. D. A hidden place.
8. Which of the following can be the best title for the text?
A. The End of Human Artists
B. AI Art Generators: Innovation and Controversy
C. How to Sell AI Paintings Online
D. AI Art: Fast, Fun and Perfect
D 6. A 7. C 8. B
根据第一段中“Ordinary people without any painting skills can be the possessors of a wonderful artwork with just a few taps of the keyboard. (没有任何绘画技能的普通人,只需敲击几下键盘,就可以拥有一件精美的艺术品。)”可知,普通人在没有绘画能力的情况下,可以在几秒钟内用AI美术生成器创作出令人印象深刻的艺术品,故选D。
6. 推理判断题。根据倒数第二段“‘Though AI technology has developed rapidly, AI cannot replace humans as it can just copy human behavior. The warmth and inspiration in human creations are irreplaceable,’ said Ding Daoshi, an independent analyst in the Internet sector. (‘虽然人工智能技术发展迅速,但人工智能只能模仿人类的行为,无法取代人类。人类创造的温暖和灵感是不可替代的,’ 互联网行业独立分析师Ding Daoshi表示。)”可知,Ding Daoshi认为人类的创造力和热情是不可替代的,故选A。
7. 词句猜测题。根据第六段中“Another controversial issue is that there is no consensus (共识) of who owns the copyright of AI art. Some users have openly sold their AI paintings and earned money, but it is still a gray area about whether these artworks belong to the users, the digital tool developers or even AI. (另一个有争议的问题是,谁拥有人工智能艺术的版权并没有达成共识。一些用户公开出售他们的人工智能画作并赚了钱,但这些艺术品究竟属于用户、数字工具开发者还是人工智能,仍然是一个灰色地带。)”可知,谁拥有人工智能艺术的版权并没有达成共识,由此推知“灰色地带”指“不清楚或未决定的情况”,故选C。
8. 主旨大意题。根据全文内容,结合第二段“However, new things are always accompanied by controversy (争议). Issues such as whether AI art generators will replace human artists, and the copyrights on AI paintings are being hotly debated. (然而,新事物总是伴随着争议。人工智能美术生成器是否会取代人类艺术家,以及人工智能绘画的版权等问题正在引发激烈的争论。)”可知,文章主要介绍了AI艺术生成器风靡网络,提高了创作效率,同时也引发争议,B项“AI艺术生成器:创新与争议”为最佳标题,故选B。
Passage 3
(2025-2026学年四川省资阳中学高三上学期开学检测英语试题)The National Gallery has always given pride of place to Peter Paul Rubens’s Samson and Delilah, listing it among the “highlights” of its collection, since it purchased the picture at Christie’s in 1980 for a then record price.
Critics(评论家) have long suggested that the painting is not really by Rubens. And now a series of scientific tests employing groundbreaking AI technology have concluded that the 17th-century Flemish painter could never have painted it.
“The results are quite astonishing,” Dr. Carina Popovici, the scientist who carried out the study, told the Observer. “The algorithm(算法) has returned a 91% probability for the artwork not being authentic.” The AI technology analyses different features of an artist’s work, including brushstroke patterns. Popovici said that everything that’s not by the hand of the assumed artist will come out with a negative probability and that the technology can produce accurate results even for artists who greatly changed their style across their careers as every artist has a unique brushstroke.
The AI analysis was carried out by Art Recognition, a Swiss company based near Zurich of which Popovici is a co-founder. It has analyzed 400 works with this technology, and has an ongoing collaboration(合作) with Tilburg University in Holland.
Critics have long argued that it is only a copy of a Rubens original that is known to have been painted between 1608 and 1609 for his Antwerp sponsor Nicolaas Rockox which then vanished after his death in 1640. Then it was not until in 1929 when it appeared again.
The significance of this new AI method of authentication is potentially groundbreaking. Short of human subjectivity, emotion and commercial interests, the software is coldly objective and scientifically accurate. Many questionable works were given the credit to Rubens at the beginning of the 20th century. There is today a clear need for more reliable methods of judgment.
9. Why does the National Gallery pay much attention to Samson and Delilah?
A. It is one of Rubens’s works. B. It can give off unique light.
C. It receives much criticism. D. It is thought of great value.
10. What can be inferred about the artists in the third paragraph?
A. They are not satisfied with the AI technology. B. They wish their artworks to be valued.
C. They have unchangeable painting habits. D. They can create some artworks beyond times.
11. What does the underlined word “vanished” mean in paragraph 5?
A. Broke. B. Arrived. C. Disappeared. D. Adjusted.
12. What is the main idea of the last paragraph?
A. The AI technology has many advantages.
B. The AI technology is short of human subjectivity.
C. The AI technology will judge many questionable works.
D. The AI technology is the most reliable method of judgement.
D 10. C 11. C 12. A
根据第一段“The National Gallery has always given pride of place to Peter Paul Rubens’s Samson and Delilah, listing it among the “highlights” of its collection, since it purchased the picture at Christie’s in 1980 for a then record price. (国家美术馆一直将彼得·保罗·鲁本斯的《参孙与黛利拉》置于显要位置,并将其列为馆藏“亮点”之一,因为该画作是1980年在佳士得以当时创纪录的价格购得的)”可知,国家美术馆重视这幅画作是因为它被认为具有很高的价值。故选D项。
10. 推理判断题。根据第三段中“Popovici said that everything that’s not by the hand of the assumed artist will come out with a negative probability and that the technology can produce accurate results even for artists who greatly changed their style across their careers as every artist has a unique brushstroke. (波波维奇博士表示,任何非假定艺术家亲手创作的作品都会显示出负面概率,并且即使对于那些职业生涯中风格变化很大的艺术家,该技术也能提供准确的结果,因为每位艺术家都有独特的笔触特征)”可知,即使艺术家风格多变,其独特的笔触特征仍可作为鉴定的依据。由此可知,艺术家有不变的绘画习惯。故选C项。
11. 词句猜测题。根据画线词所在句的下文“Then it was not until in 1929 when it appeared again. (直到1929年,这幅画才再次出现)”可推知,鲁本斯的原作在1640年赞助人Nicolaas Rockox去世后是消失了,画线词vanished意为“消失”,与Disappeared“消失”意思一致。故选C项。
12. 主旨大意题。根据最后一段中“The significance of this new AI method of authentication is potentially groundbreaking. Short of human subjectivity, emotion and commercial interests, the software is coldly objective and scientifically accurate. (这种新的AI鉴定方法的意义可能是革命性的。它不受人类主观性、情感和商业利益的影响,软件冷酷客观且科学准确)”可知,AI鉴定技术因其客观性和准确性可能成为艺术鉴定领域的重要突破,本段表明这一技术有许多优势。故选A项。
Passage 4
(2025-2026学年山东省烟台市牟平第一中学高二上学期开学考试)As AI art generators(生成器) take the world by storm, some people wonder if their works should count as art at all. The technology is still developing and has some wrinkles to iron out, which means there are indeed flaws to consider alongside the incredible artwork a good artificial intelligence can produce.
Art is classed as the product of imagination, skill, experience, and emotion, usually meant to represent something for the public to enjoy. Artists spent time and effort putting their inner worlds onto these works. Machine intelligence also puts a lot of work into sorting through tons of data, linking someone’s prompt to datasets, and trying to represent it as best as possible. The difference is that the AI is driven by commands instead of an emotional desire to express itself.
AI painters can produce over 1,000 original works of art with every tap of the enter key on a keyboard. But a mass-produced print of the Mona Lisa is worth less than the actual Leonardo da Vinci’s painting. Why? Scarcity — there’s only one of the original. Should anyone pay for these things? And if an artist puts AI masterpieces up for sale, what should the price be?
AI art involves a program mimicking(模仿) the work of existing artists to create a new piece according to the request of a human. But who made the artwork, the machine or its user? And can the original artists sue for copyright(版权) violation? Such questions complicate the merging of artificial intelligence and the art industry, while fueling arguments against recognizing AI-generated art as marketable artistic products.
Once we’ve answered those questions, we can tackle the really big one: When an AI-generated painting wins an award, who gets the prize?
13. What does the underlined word "flaws" in paragraph 1 probably mean?
A. Benefits. B. Advances. C. Weaknesses. D. Standards.
14. How is AI art different from human art?
A. It is the product of experience. B. It costs less money to produce.
C. It combines different styles of work. D. It is not a mirror of humans’ emotions.
15. Why does the writer mention Mona Lisa in the third paragraph?
A. To prove the popularity of classic artworks.
B. To present the potential trouble with the value of AI art.
C. To show the advantages of AI painters over human artists.
D. To introduce a new way of preserving art masterpieces.
16. What can we infer from paragraph 4?
A. AI art promotes the sale of artistic products.
B. AI art makes copyright issues more complicated.
C. Artists can create more works with the help of AI.
D. There will be fierce competition in the art industry.
C 14. D 15. B 16. B
根据第一段中的“The technology is still developing and has some wrinkles to iron out, which means there are indeed flaws to consider alongside the incredible artwork a good artificial intelligence can produce. (这项技术仍在发展中,还有一些问题需要解决,这意味着除了优秀人工智能能创作出的出色作品外,确实还有一些flaws需要考虑)”可知,这项技术有一些问题需要解决。由此可知,此处指的是技术存在一些缺陷,所以划线单词“flaws”与“缺陷、不足”意义相近。故选C项。
14. 细节理解题。根据第二段中的“The difference is that the AI is driven by commands instead of an emotional desire to express itself. (不同之处在于,人工智能是由指令驱动的,而非表达自我的情感渴望)”可知,人工智能艺术与人类艺术的不同之处是人工智能艺术不是人类情绪的反映。故选D项。
15. 推理判断题。根据第三段中的“AI painters can produce over 1,000 original works of art with every tap of the enter key on a keyboard. But a mass-produced print of the Mona Lisa is worth less than the actual Leonardo da Vinci’s painting. Why? Scarcity — there’s only one of the original. Should anyone pay for these things? And if an artist puts AI masterpieces up for sale, what should the price be?
根据第四段中的“AI art involves a program mimicking (模仿) the work of existing artists to create a new piece according to the request of a human. But who made the artwork, the machine or its user? And can the original artists sue for copyright (版权) violation? Such questions complicate the merging of artificial intelligence and the art industry (AI艺术是程序根据人类需求,模仿现有艺术家的作品来创作新作品。但作品的创作者是谁?是机器还是使用者?原作者是否可以起诉其侵犯版权?这些问题使人工智能与艺术行业的融合变得复杂)”可知,AI艺术引发了“创作者归属”以及“是否侵犯原作者版权”等问题,这使得版权问题变得更加复杂。故选B项。
Passage 5
Do you want to get yourself a great photo?Learn how to look good and natural in your photo with these simple tips.
Keep it real. The human eye is very good at spotting the difference between a “social smile”,where just the mouth muscles are working, and a “real smile”, which reaches the eyes. If you force a smile for the photo, it risks making you look not genuine. 1
Get the eyeballing right. A straight gaze looks aggressive, while gazing down at the camera seems commanding and gazing up small and weak. 2 Whichever option you choose, it’s best to avoid extremes.
Design your body language. The wider your body stretches, the more relaxed you look. 3 Think of a king looking down thoughtfully from his throne. If you’re making a gesture, or the wind is blowing your hair, you look lively and playful—that’s great as long as it’s real. Again, people are good at detecting insincerity.
4 Avoid using selfies, which often come out looking either vain or self-conscious. There are lots of studios offering shots—and videos—that look attractive and natural. Talk to the photographer to make sure he/she puts you at ease, because that’s how you want to look on the site. 5 Make the trip as fun and loving as possible—when there’s someone you love behind the camera, you’ll show an affectionate look unconsciously, and people are more likely to think, “I want that person to look at me like that!”
A. Find your photographer.
B. Be creative in your photography.
C. Looking slightly at an angle is often the friendliest.
D. You will discover a lot about yourself through your photo.
E. Have your photo taken when you are really enjoying yourself.
F. Similarly, the stiller you are,the more formal and confident you seem.
G. For a cheaper option, ask a close friend to go somewhere nice with you and snap away.
E 2. C 3. F 4. A 5. G
1. 由上文“If you force a smile for the photo, it risks making you look not genuine.(如果你在照片中强颜欢笑,可能会让你看起来不真诚。)” Have your photo taken when you are really enjoying yourself.(当你真正开心的时候再拍照。)
2. 由上文“A straight gaze looks aggressive, while gazing down at the camera seems commanding and gazing up small and weak.(直视显得有攻击性,低头看镜头显得有掌控力,抬头看则显得渺小软弱。)”及下文“Whichever option you choose, it’s best to avoid extremes.(无论选择哪种,最好避免极端。)” Looking slightly at an angle is often the friendliest.(稍微侧视通常是最友好的。)
3. 由上文“The wider your body stretches, the more relaxed you look.(身体伸展得越开,看起来就越放松。)” Similarly, the stiller you are, the more formal and confident you seem.(同样,你越安静,看起来就越正式和自信。)中“Similarly”表并列,“the stiller you are,the more formal and confident you seem”与上文“The wider your body stretches, the more relaxed you look” 形成对比,补充了不同身体语言的效果,逻辑完整。故选F项。
4. 由下文“Avoid using selfies, which often come out looking either vain or self-conscious. There are lots of studios offering shots—and videos—that look attractive and natural. Talk to the photographer to make sure he/she puts you at ease, because that’s how you want to look on the site. (避免使用自拍,因为自拍往往看起来很虚荣或很不自在。有很多工作室提供看起来有吸引力和自然的镜头和视频。与摄影师交谈,确保他/她让你放松,因为这就是你想在网站上看到的样子。)”可知,此处需要提出关于拍摄者选择的建议。A项Find your photographer.(找到你的摄影师。) 故选A项。
5. 由上文“Talk to the photographer to make sure he/she puts you at ease, because that’s how you want to look on the site.(与摄影师交谈,确保他/她让你放松,因为这就是你想在网站上看到的样子。)”及下文“Make the trip as fun and loving as possible—when there’s someone you love behind the camera, you’ll show an affectionate look unconsciously, and people are more likely to think, “I want that person to look at me like that!”(让这次旅行尽可能有趣和充满爱意——当相机后面有你爱的人时,你会无意识地露出深情的表情,人们更有可能想,“我希望那个人那样看着我!”)” For a cheaper option, ask a close friend to go somewhere nice with you and snap away.(作为更便宜的选择,让亲密的朋友和你一起去好地方抓拍。) 中“For a cheaper option”与上文“studios”形成对比,“close friend”呼应下文“someone you love”,提供了经济实惠的替代方案,衔接紧密。故选G项。
Passage 6
(2024-2025学年海南省海口市高一下学期7月期末英语试题)April 8 is International Rare Animal Protection Day. In China, years of conservation efforts have had positive results. Xu Keyi, a Chinese wildlife photographer, shares her stories and thoughts on protecting rare animals through her photographs.
As a child, Xu always dreamed of traveling the world with a camera. Before fully taking a career in wildlife photography, she worked as a journalist after earning her master’s degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. During a trip to Antarctica, she witnessed penguin parents fearlessly defending their chicks from intruders. 6 In 2018, Xu made the life-changing decision to leave her job and pursue wildlife photography full-time.
Last year, in Yunnan, Xu went through a tough early morning climb up a mountain to take pictures of the endangered Pavo muticus(绿孔雀). After enduring hours of rain and sweltering heat, she finally reached her destination. She remained perfectly still beneath the plants. 7 In the afternoon, when the sun broke out and cast light on the hillside and a male Pavo muticus spread its tail beautifully in the valley, she used her camera to capture the breathtaking beauty. 8
Xu aims to inspire greater awareness and involvement among people regarding wildlife protection through her photography. Too often, individuals fail to recognize the significance of a species until it is on the edge of extinction. 9 We must not allow this to happen again
With the release of her photo book showcasing a variety of unknown Chinese wildlife species, Xu hopes to encourage more young people to engage in the conservation efforts. 10
A. All her efforts paid off.
B. And it is too late by then
C. That trip cost her half of her saving.
D. And her camera was set and ready for a perfect shot.
E. A good photographer knew how to improve her skills.
F. That journey refueled her passion for protecting wildlife
G. The rising involvement of youths fills her with optimism.
F 7. D 8. A 9. B 10. G
6. 上文“During a trip to Antarctica, she witnessed penguin parents fearlessly defending their chicks from intruders.(在南极旅行期间,她目睹了企鹅父母勇敢地保护幼崽免受入侵者的侵害)”说明此次南极之旅激发了徐可意对野生动物保护的热情。
7. 上文“She remained perfectly still beneath the plants.(她在植物下一动不动)”说明她为拍摄绿孔雀做好了准备。
8. 上文“when the sun broke out and cast light on the hillside and a male Pavo muticus spread its tail beautifully in the valley, she used her camera to capture the breathtaking beauty.(当太阳出来,阳光洒在山坡上,一只雄性绿孔雀在山谷中美丽地展开尾巴时,她用相机捕捉到了这令人惊叹的美景)”说明她成功拍摄到了绿孔雀的美丽瞬间。 故选A。
9. 上文“Too often, individuals fail to recognize the significance of a species until it is on the edge of extinction.(很多时候,人们直到一个物种濒临灭绝才意识到它的重要性)”说明人们往往在物种濒临灭绝时才意识到其重要性。
10. 上文“With the release of her photo book showcasing a variety of unknown Chinese wildlife species, Xu hopes to encourage more young people to engage in the conservation efforts.(随着她的摄影集出版,展示了许多鲜为人知的中国野生动物物种,徐希望鼓励更多的年轻人参与到保护工作中来)”说明徐希望通过摄影集鼓励年轻人参与保护工作。

故填an。
故填those。
此处表示“带有,具有”,用介词with,with distinct facial expressions作后置定语,修饰characters。故填with。
故填Although/Though/While。
