W: Sorry, I don’t know for sure. But I guess it’s an early 18th century work. 2.C 【原文】W: Could you tell me the starting time for both performances? M: The first begins at 7:00 o’clock, and it lasts two hours. The second follows immediately. 3.A 【原文】W: Jack, would you like to join the school tennis club? It’s wonderful. M: I should say I envy you. I just turned in my term paper and now I am collecting information for the school conference, which is to begin next week. 4.A 【原文】M: I need some cash for my trip to Macao tomorrow. I will run and get some. W: I will go with you. I need some fresh air and exercise. 5.B 【原文】W: Excuse me, sir. Could you tell me how I can get to the city library? M: Are you driving or taking public transportation? W: Well, I spent the whole day yesterday driving to see all the sights, so today I think I’d like to go by bus. M: Why don’t you walk with me? I’m heading in the direction where you can catch the first bus you’ll need to take. 6.B 7.A 【原文】W: Excuse me, I’m looking for the …are you the manager? M: Yes, I am. What can I do for you? W: I bought this yesterday, but I didn’t look at the receipt until today — and I’m shocked that I didn’t get the discount that you were advertising. I thought that this item would be 25% off! M: May I have a look? Hmm…it says it was checked out on register four — that’s Heather. She is new on staff, so she probably didn’t know about the sale. I’m very sorry about that. I’ll fix the problem right away and get you some cash. W: Thanks very much. I’ll just be waiting over there. 8.A 9.C 【原文】W: Richard, what are you going to do during the summer vacation? M: You’ve got a degree in finance. Why did you apply for this job? W: I read the job description and discovered a few interesting programs that I’d like to be a part of. They’re challenging yet rewarding. Just the sort of things I consider to fit me best. M: I see. But given your educational background, wouldn’t you want to work for some bigger companies? W: I prefer smaller companies to bigger ones, because a smaller business has the ability to be more flexible in its service offerings. In a small company, we can provide our customers with the exact service that they need. By doing this, we can form a closer relationship with our customers as if they were our neighbors or relatives. M: That’s very interesting. When will you be available for employment? W: In two weeks. I’ve promised my parents a ten-day visit. I can start work immediately after I’m back. M: Great. I will call you back in a couple of days about our final decision. W: Okay. Thank you very much. 17.B 18.C 19.B 20.C 【原文】M: Hello, everyone. Today’s guest is just 14 years old, and he is protecting birds around the world. His name is Dessi Sieburth. His love of birds started when he made his first bird feeder about six years ago. Now, he has his own group called “Protecting Our Birds”. He has been making western bluebird boxes for about four years. Dessi hangs them up in trees and takes them down every week and looks at them to see if the bluebirds are nesting. He does that every year during the summer. He chooses the bluebird because they nest in dead trees, but a lot of dead trees are being cut down. Dessi makes these boxes to take the place of the trees. He does research about birds, runs a website to teach people about birds and how to help them, and builds boxes for birds. Dessi has interviewed biologists, written a lot of articles on birds for local newspaper. Dessi also recently spent 10 days in Alaska with his family where he did research on golden eagles in Denali National Park. So now let’s welcome Dessi Sieburth! 根据第二段“You could also talk to the librarian. If you tell them what kinds of books you’re looking for, they’ll be able to point you in the right direction.(你也可以和图书管理员谈谈。如果你告诉他们你在找什么样的书,他们就能给你指出正确的方向)”可知,你能从当地图书馆得到图书管理员的协助。故选B。 22.细节理解题。根据倒数第二段“If you prefer to get your book recommendations through dialogue and discussion, then Meetup might be the option for you.(如果你更喜欢通过对话和讨论来推荐你的书,那么Meetup可能是你的选择)”和“Meetup groups might hold events once a month, once a week, or maybe even multiple times a week.(聚会小组可能每月举行一次活动,一周一次,甚至一周多次)”可知,聚会读书会的特别之处在于他们提供关于书籍的小组讨论。故选C。 23. 根据最后一段“Once you’ve added and rated enough books, Goodreads will begin recommending other books that you might like.(一旦你添加并评价了足够多的书,Goodreads就会开始推荐其他你可能喜欢的书)”可知,Goodreads根据你的喜好推荐书籍。 根据第二段中“A new study suggests that more than half of U. S. parents believe texting while driving a car or other vehicles is unsafe. Yet most of those questioned said they do it anyway. (一项新研究表明,美国超过一半的父母认为在驾驶汽车或其他载具时发消息是不安全的。然而参加调查的人中大多数都表示他们还是这样做过)”可知,第二段描述的主要问题就是人们会不顾危险在开车时使用手机。故选D项。 25.推理判断题。根据第四段引述Regan的原话“Many people are expected to be reachable by phone or email immediately, to be reachable for their children or work.Being a responsible adult therefore often means always being reachable-yet we also know that while driving.Being reachable carries with it the risk of a crash.(许多人都希望能通过电话或电子邮件立即联系到他们,他们的孩子或工作上的事也可以联系到他们。因此,作为一个负责任的成年人,通常意味着总是可以联系到,哪怕是在开车时。时刻保持联系就带来了车祸的风险。)”可知,尽管时刻与外界保持联系是现代社会的要求,但在进行开车这样需要高度专注的活动时还要这样是很不明智、很不安全的。故选C项。 26.推理判断题。根据最后一段“In general, it is never safe to use a smartphone while driving. There are a number of APPs that can help to limit distracted (分心的) driving by disabling phone features, when the vehicle is in motion. The simplest thing to do is put the phone out of sight and out of reach to reduce the temptation (诱惑) to drive distractedly.(总的来说,开车时用手机是绝对不安全的。 根据第一段“In 2019, the world generated 54.6 million tons of e-waste. However, just 17.4 percent of it was formally collected and recycled. Since 2014, the amount of e-waste recycled has grown by 1.8 million tons-a relatively small amount, considering that the amount of e-waste generated increased by 9.2 million tons in the same period. (2019年,全球产生了5460万吨电子垃圾。然而,只有17.4%的垃圾被正式收集和回收。自2014年以来,电子垃圾的回收量增加了180万吨——相对于同期电子垃圾产生量增加了920万吨来说,这是一个相对较小的数量。)”可知,本段中的统计数字说明电子垃圾的回收率相对较低。故选B项。 29.细节理解题。根据第二段中“E-waste and EV batteries are currently recycled through processes called pyrometallurgy (火法冶金术) and hydrometallurgy (湿法冶金术). However, they involve burning temperatures with a high energy demand and deep carbon footprint, and poisonous chemicals which are harmful to the environment. (电子垃圾和电动汽车电池目前通过火法和湿法回收。然而,它们涉及到能源需求高、碳足迹深的燃烧温度,以及对环境有害的有毒化学物质。)”可知,目前回收电子垃圾的方法对环境不利。故选A项。 30. 根据第三段中“They have been using non-poisonous bacteria to oxidize and recover the precious metals—a process known as “bioleaching”. They have shown that copper is widely recoverable from e-waste, and that all metals present in EV batteries can be recovered by using microbes (微生物). (他们一直在使用无毒的细菌来氧化和回收贵金属——这一过程被称为“生物浸出”。他们已经表明,铜可以从电子垃圾中广泛回收,而电动汽车电池中的所有金属都可以通过使用微生物来回收。)”可知,生物浸出技术就是通过微生物来回收金属。故选C项。 31.推理判断题。通读全文,根据第三段中“A team of scientists from the University of Coventry are extending one such alternative. They have been using non-poisonous bacteria to oxidize and recover the precious metals—a process known as “bioleaching”. 根据第一段“Jennifer Destefano answered a call from a number she did not recognize. “Mom, these bad men have me,” her daughter’s voice told her, crying. A man continued to demand money, or he would drug her daughter and leave her in Mexico. But while she kept him on the phone, friends managed to reach her daughter, only to discover that she was free and well on a skiing trip in Arizona. The voice used on the phone was a fake (冒充品). 根据第二段中“When generating a recording, the system also offers a controller that allows users to choose between variability, a lifelike intonation (语调), and stability, similar to a calm newsreader, both accurate. (当生成录音时,系统还提供了一个控制器,允许用户在可变性(逼真的语调)和稳定性(类似于平静的新闻播音员)之间进行选择,两者都很准确。)”可知,生成的录音可以由用户自己选择可变性和稳定性,由此可知,克隆语音可以有多种风格。故选A项。 34. 根据第三段中“Now, ever more people caught up in illegal behaviors will be attracted by the defence, “It wasn’t me.” (现在,越来越多被卷入非法行为的人会被“不是我”的辩护吸引。)”可知,克隆语音可能导致罪犯用它作为逃避惩罚的借口。故选C项。 35.推理判断题。根据最后一段中“Creative industries could face challenges too. Voice actors’ skills, trained over a lifetime, can be taken away in a matter of seconds. (创意产业也可能面临挑战。配音演员的技能,经过了一辈子的训练,可以在几秒钟内消失。)”和“But as the old saying goes, a coin has two sides. Val Kilmer, who has lost much of his voice to throat cancer, was delighted to have his voice restored for Top Gun: Maverick. And some others may be spared heading to the studio for retakes. 36.根据上文的“All living things need clean, fresh water to survive. Ninety-seven percent of the water on earth is in the ocean. The salt in the ocean water makes it unusable for drinking. Another two percent is frozen in the ice caps and glaciers on the Earth.(所有生物都需要干净、新鲜的水才能生存。地球上97%的水都在海洋中。海水中的盐分使它不能饮用。另外2%被冻结在地球上的冰帽和冰川中。)”和下文的“There are many factors that affect the amount of water available for you. Where you live, the amount of rain that falls, and how water is collected and reserved all affect the amount of cool, clear water available.(有很多因素会影响你能得到的水。你居住的地方,降雨量,以及水的收集和储存方式都会影响到凉爽、清澈的水的数量。)”可知,E项(这使得地球上只有1%的水可供我们使用。)承接上文,说明了人类可以使用的水并不多,下文指出在这1%的水中还有许多因素影响人们可用的水。故选E项。 37.根据上文的“One factor that we can’t change is where it will rain. The amount of rain an area receives affects the amount of water available for use. Some major cities are located in areas where they can get water from the ground.(我们不能改变的一个因素是下雨的地点。一个地区的降雨量影响着可用水量。一些大城市位于可以从地下取水的地区。)”和下文的“Those places with no water readily available must pipe water in from far away.(那些没有可用水的地方必须从很远的地方用管道输水。)” 38.根据上文的“According to a study done by the state of California, the average person uses over one hundred gallons of water per day. Water is used for drinking, taking a shower or bath, brushing teeth, washing hands, cleaning dishes, doing laundry, and flushing toilets. (根据加利福尼亚州的一项研究,平均每人每天使用超过100加仑的水。水用于饮用、淋浴或洗澡、刷牙、洗手、洗碗、洗衣服和冲厕所。)”可知,该州的人均用水量是比较大的,因此A项(合理地用水是很重要的。)承接上文,说明了,合理用水的必要性。故选A项。 39.根据上文的“No matter where you live, there are many ways you can help conserve water. Today, we have many helpful tools to help us save water. There are low-flow shower heads and faucets, dishwashers and washing machines that use up to 50% less water. (无论你住在哪里,都有很多方法可以帮助节约用水。今天,我们有许多有用的工具来帮助我们节约用水。有低流量的淋浴喷头和水龙头,洗碗机和洗衣机的用水量最多可减少50%。)”可知,F项(在家里安装这些设备是防止浪费水的第一道防线。)承接上文,强调安装上文提到的节约用水设备的必要性。故选F项。 40.根据上文的“There are many other ways you can help. (还有很多其他的方法你可以帮助节约用水。)”和下文的“Take a shower rather than a bath. It’s also important to fix leaky faucets. If you find one, let your parents know. A good way to have cool water available all the time is to keep a pitcher in the fridge. This way you won’t have to wait for the water in the pipes to bring you colder water to drink. Only run your clothes washer and dishwasher when they are full. This can save hundreds of gallons of water a year.(用淋浴代替泡澡。修理漏水的水龙头也很重要。如果你找到了,告诉你的父母。让冷水随时可用的一个好方法是在冰箱里放一个水罐。这样你就不用等水管里的水给你带来更冷的水喝了。洗衣机和洗碗机满了的时候再开动。这样每年可以节省数百加仑的水。 )”可知,C项(刷牙的时候不要让水开着。)承接上文,举例说明了一种节约用水的方法,下文继续举例说明节约用水的方法。故选C项。 41.D 42.A 43.B 44.B 45.C 46.D 47.A 48.B 49.A 50.C 51.D 52.C 53.B 54.A 55.D 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文,介绍了德国作曲家约翰内斯·勃拉姆斯的成功之路。 41. A. action行动;B. choice选择;C. opportunity机会;D. potential潜力。 A. pursue追求;B. decide决定;C. evaluate评估;D. measure测量。根据空前“provided him with the necessary support and encouragement”以及空后的“his musical dreams”可知,这里指父亲为勃拉姆斯追求音乐梦想提供了必要的支持和鼓励。故选A。 43. A. emotionally情绪上;B. financially经济上;C. physically身体上;D. mentally精神上。根据“Brahms often had to take odd jobs to support himself”可知,勃拉姆斯需要打零工来养活自己,由此可知,他的家庭经济困难。故选B。 44. 根据空前的“he still continued to study composition”和空后的“himself to the works of great composers”可知,他继续坚持学习作曲,并专心学习伟大作曲家的作品。 根据“when he met the famous composer Robert Schumann, who recognized his genius and became his teacher. It's called Stay Awake. Its main function is that when I feel sleepy, the APP will automatically issue an alarm to remind me to improve my attention in class. More and more students are sleeping in class. I really want to control this bad habit, but we find it difficult to control ourselves. He attempted to sit up but he couldn’t even move a step because of his serious injuries. However, after several attempts, he finally succeeded in standing up with a howl of pain, which surprised Link greatly. He stepped back and back, a sense of pity and guilt overwhelming him and the stone in his hands dropped to the ground unconsciously. He took off his overcoat in a hurry and coated the dog with care. His watery eyes welled up with pain but a light of hope. Link at once took the dog and headed to the nearest pet hospital. The doctor in the pet hospital took the dog into the operating room. After the door was closed, Link walked up and down, waiting outside of the room anxiously. Though the vet told him that they would spare no effort to save the dog, it was really in bad condition. In the bottom of his heart, he hoped the dog could go through the operation. It took a long time before the door reopened. He walked up and asked how it was going. The vet comforted him and told him that the operation went very well, leading him to the next office. Until then did he breathe a sign of relief. 词汇激活 行为类 ①尝试做某事:attempt to do/try to do ②朝……走去:head to/make one’s way to ③不遗余力地去做某事:spare no effort to do/do everything in one’s power to do 情绪类 ①眼中充满了泪水:His watery eyes welled up/Tears began to gather in his eyes ②使吃惊:surprise/astonish/amaze 【点睛】【高分句型1】However, after several attempts, he finally succeeded in standing up with a howl of pain, which surprised Link greatly. Here are several different ways you can find your next favorite book to read! Local Library Most libraries allow anyone to walk in and look around. Head over to the sections that interest you and browse the shelves, then use your phone to look up any books that catch your eye. Or if you want to support your local library, just check the book out. You could also talk to the librarian. If you tell them what kinds of books you’re looking for, they’ll be able to point you in the right direction. Online Book Stores Amazon, AbeBooks, and Better World Books are all great options. Most online book stores allow sorting by recent releases, and it’s a great way to discover books you’ve never heard of before. Check out the first few pages’ previews, reviews and ratings, and if you like it, buy it! Meetup Book Clubs If you prefer to get your book recommendations through dialogue and discussion, then Meetup might be the option for you. Book clubs on Meetup are pretty straightforward; they tell you which book to read, and then you discuss it as a group. Meetup groups might hold events once a month, once a week, or maybe even multiple times a week. If one group isn’t enough, you can always join multiple. Goodreads One of the easiest ways to discover new books to read is to use a book recommendation site like Goodreads. Every year, Goodreads puts out “Best Books” for all major genres (体裁), including Fantasy, Horror, Poetry, Romance, and Young Adult. Each genre has 20 entries, and you can view past years’ awards back to 2011. Once you’ve added and rated enough books, Goodreads will begin recommending other books that you might like. 21.What help can you receive from a local library? A.Financial support. B.The librarian’s assistance. C.Group study. D.Advice on book choice. 22.What’s special about Meetup Book Clubs? A.They hold reading activities on a daily basis. B.They sort out books by recent releases. C.They offer group discussions about books. D.They allow members to get books for free. 23.Which of the following recommends books based on your preference? A.Local Library. B.Online Book Stores. C.Meetup Book Clubs. D.Goodreads. B Many people cannot live without modern technology products, especially their  smart phones. They use devices to stay in contact with family and friends while driving. The most common method of communication is by sending written messages, a custom known as texting. A new study suggests that more than half of U. S. parents believe texting while driving a car or other vehicles is unsafe. Yet most of those questioned said they do it anyway. The finding was reported earlier this month in a scientific publication. Researchers questioned 435 parents from across the United States. Regan Bergmark, who led the survey, said that many people believe texting while driving is unsafe but have also likely done it. In fact, the survey found that 52 percent of millennial (千禧年的) parents said they thought it was “never” safe to text and drive. The same goes for 58 percent of older parents. But almost two-thirds of parents reported reading texts while driving, and more than half of them have also written texts.Millennial parents were more likely to use email while driving and drive faster than the speed limit. “The problem with smartphones is that they have become an unavoidable part of daily life for most people,” Regan said. “Many people are expected to be reachable by phone or email immediately, to be reachable for their children or work.Being a responsible adult therefore often means always being reachable-yet we also know that while driving.Being reachable carries with it the risk of a crash. ” In general,it is never safe to use a smartphone while driving. There are a number of APPs that can help to limit distracted (分心的) driving by disabling phone features, when the vehicle is in motion. The simplest thing to do is put the phone out of sight and out of reach to reduce the temptation (诱惑) to drive distractedly. 24.What is the main problem described in Paragraph 2? A.People use smartphones to keep in touch with others. B.People tend to drive faster than the speed limit. C.People tend to write text messages rather than use email. D.People use smartphones while driving despite the danger. 25.What can we infer from Regan’s words? A.People in modern society can’t live without smartphones. B.People are expected to be reachable every second. C.It’s unwise to be always reachable while driving. D.It’s dangerous to drive because of the risk of a crash. 26.In the last paragraph, the author means to . A.summarize the previous paragraphs B.provide some advice for the readers C.add some background information D.introduce a new topic for discussion 27.Where is the text most likely from? A.A novel. B.A guidebook. C.A scientific report. D.A medical magazine. C In 2019, the world generated 54.6 million tons of e-waste. However, just 17.4 percent of it was formally collected and recycled. Since 2014, the amount of e-waste recycled has grown by 1.8 million tons—a relatively small amount, considering that the amount of e-waste generated increased by 9.2 million tons in the same period. Global reserves of some elements, such as platinum, are supposed to be fully used up within 15 years if the proportion of recycled stocks entering production doesn’t increase. E-waste and EV batteries are currently recycled through processes called pyrometallurgy (火法冶金术) and hydrometallurgy (湿法冶金术). However, they involve burning temperatures with a high energy demand and deep carbon footprint, and poisonous chemicals which are harmful to the environment. Alternatives are therefore being sought. A team of scientists from the University of Coventry are extending one such alternative. They have been using non-poisonous bacteria to oxidize and recover the precious metals—a process known as “bioleaching”. They have shown that copper is widely recoverable from e-waste, and that all metals present in EV batteries can be recovered by using microbes (微生物). If extended, bioleaching facilities would mean that manufacturers of EV batteries and other electronic goods would be able to recover metals locally, relying less on costly exports to recycling centers abroad. “At present, a key limitation for e-waste recycling is the lack of certification detailing the types and amounts of metals contained in electronic goods. But with an efficient recycling process appearing, manufacturers have the motivation to use more recycled material in their products, which will change the very design of electronics goods. It’s about closing the loop of a product’s life cycle,” said the leader of the Bioleaching Research Group, Sebastien Farnaud. Ultimately, bioleaching technology is born out of the idea of creating a truly circular process for the things that we consume. We need to shift from a mindset and economy where we see waste as an end product, to one where there isn’t even a start or an end at all. 28.What do the statistics in Paragraph 1 indicate? A.People pay no attention to e-waste recycling. B.The recycling rate of e-waste is comparatively low. C.E-waste has caused serious environmental problems. D.The amount of e-waste is sharply increasing every year. 29.What is the disadvantage of current ways of recycling e-waste? A.They are not environmentally friendly. B.They only apply to certain e-waste. C.They generate metals with a complex process. D.They cause a sharp rise in local temperatures. 30.What do we know about the bioleaching technology? A.It has been applied abroad. B.It releases no poisonous gas. C.It recovers metals by microbes. D.It promotes the local export trade. 31.The text is most probably a part of ______. A.a travel guide B.a fiction novel C.a health magazine D.a scientific journal D Jennifer Destefano answered a call from a number she did not recognize. In fact, voice cloning has far-reaching influences. A brief sample of a particular individual voice can be used to train an AI model, which can then speak any given text sounding like that person. The feature is to be included in iPhone’s new operating system IOS 17 to help people who may be in danger of losing their voices. ElevenLabs, an AI startup, offers users the chance to create their own clones in minutes. When generating a recording, the system also offers a controller that allows users to choose between variability, a lifelike intonation (语调), and stability, similar to a calm newsreader, both accurate. With cloning coming, voices claiming to be someone may prove to be fakes. That disturbs financial industry (金融业), which uses voice as an important identification. In journalism, fewer people will trust news based on recordings. The opposite problem will arise when public figures refuse to admit their genuine recordings. Now, ever more people caught up in illegal behaviors will be attracted by the defence, “It wasn’t me.” Creative industries could face challenges too. Voice actors’ skills, trained over a lifetime, can be taken away in a matter of seconds. The Telegraph recently reported on actors who had mistakenly given up rights to their voices, making it possible to clone them for nothing. But as the old saying goes, a coin has two sides. Val Kilmer, who has lost much of his voice to throat cancer, was delighted to have his voice restored for Top Gun: Maverick. And some others may be spared heading to the studio for retakes. 32.Why does the author talk about Destefano’s experience? A.To explain why Destefano was cheated. B.To praise a mother’s love for her daughter. C.To teach people how to recognize fake voices. D.To draw readers’ attention to voice cloning. 33.What can be learned from Paragraph 2? A.Cloning voices can be variously styled. B.IOS trains people disabled in speaking. C.Cloning one’s voice is time-consuming. D.AI learns human voice from texts. 34.What impact may voice cloning make? A.Financial industry will abandon voice identification. B.Broadcasting will disappear in journalism. C.Criminals use it as an excuse to escape punishment. D.Public figures dare not make recordings. 35.What is voice cloning’s influence in creative industries? A.Disastrous. B.Double edged. C.Beneficial. D.Short-termed. 第二节 (共5小题,每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) All living things need clean, fresh water to survive. Ninety-seven percent of the water on earth is in the ocean. The salt in the ocean water makes it unusable for drinking. Another two percent is frozen in the ice caps and glaciers on the Earth. 36 There are many factors that affect the amount of water available for you. Where you live, the amount of rain that falls, and how water is collected and reserved all affect the amount of cool, clear water available. One factor that we can’t change is where it will rain. The amount of rain an area receives affects the amount of water available for use. Some major cities are located in areas where they can get water from the ground. 37 Those places with no water readily available must pipe water in from far away. According to a study done by the state of California, the average person uses over one hundred gallons of water per day. Water is used for drinking, taking a shower or bath, brushing teeth, washing hands, cleaning dishes, doing laundry, and flushing toilets. 38 No matter where you live, there are many ways you can help conserve water. Today, we have many helpful tools to help us save water. There are low-flow shower heads and faucets(水龙头), dishwashers and washing machines that use up to 50% less water. 39 There are many other ways you can help. 40 Take a shower rather than a bath. This can save hundreds of gallons of water a year. All of these will help to conserve water. Leaning to use it wisely will ensure that it will always be available. So, make a fuss and conserve water. It’s worth it! A.Using water wisely is important. B.Water is an important natural resource. C.Don’t leave the water running when you brush your teeth. D.Other areas use surface water from lakes, rivers, or streams. E.This leaves one percent of the water on Earth available for us to use. F.Installing these items in your home is the first line of defense against wasting water. G.Wherever we live, we must be careful with the polluted water we have in our part of the world. 第三部分 语言知识运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节 (共15小题,每小题1分,满分15分) Born in Hamburg, Germany, in 1833, Brahms soon expressed a keen interest in music and displayed unusual talent. By the light of the match, he discovered a dog curled up (蜷缩) in a heap, with one foreleg stuck awkwardly out in front of him at an impossible angle. Although the dog was in great pain, he still gazed at the man who bent above him softly, with a mixture of pride and need for help in his brown eyes. Moved by such an expression, Link knelt down to examine his hurts. He recognized the dog as a collie (柯利牧羊犬). The collie reminded him that several years before, he had ever witnessed one Airedale thrown from a car and killed by a close-following vehicle. Judging by the mud on the dog’s snowy chest and the oily marks on his back, he guessed this collie might have suffered a similar fate (命运), landing so heavily that it broke his front leg and ended up in the ditch covered in mud and oil. Link couldn’t imagine how long the dog had been lying there in pain. Seeing the serious hurts and hearing his howl (嚎叫) of pain, Link was at a loss, not knowing how to help him out successfully. He had planned to leave him behind but a voice inside him encouraged him to step forward bravely. Then Link suddenly realized that maybe the kindest thing to do for the dog was put him out of his suffering. He gently approached the badly hurt animal, whispering softly, “Sorry, honey! Forgive me please!” Picking up a stone off the ground with a heavy heart, Link turned back to where the dog lay, thinking to himself, “How terrible! Do I have the right to end his life?” His heart beat wildly as he cast scared glances on the dog. However, at the thought of his closed eyes and howls, he finally made the toughest decision. Watching the poor dog closely, he balanced the rock and prepared to deliver the deadly blow. 注意:1. 续写词数应为150个左右; 2. 请按如下格式在相应位置作答。 Paragraph 1: Link was about to strike with all his strength when the dog opened his eyes. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: The doctor in the pet hospital took the dog into the operating room. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 答案第6页,共10页 答案第7页,共10页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
