Many people were hurt and 1 their homes. In my school, we decided to organize a 5-kilometer run to collect money for the people. Students signed up for the run and asked their relatives and neighbors to support them. These people agreed to 2 some money—50 cents or a dollar, for example, for every kilometer that the students completed. Joe was my classmate. He was the 3 student in my class because he seldom did any exercise and he ate plenty of junk food. He never walked to school. He always took a bus. When he was asked if he was going to take part in the run, he said he would think about it. A few students laughed and I thought Joe felt embarrassed (尴尬的). I felt a bit sorry for him. Two years ago, while Cathy was watching the Olympics, a dream came into her sweet little head—to be a swimmer. Last summer, she wanted to 2 our local swimming team. She practiced hard and finally 3 it. The team practice, however, was a hard start. She coughed and choked (呛水) and could hardly pull through her first few weeks. Hearing her coughing seriously one night, I decided to pull her from it all. But Cathy woke me up early next morning, wearing her swimsuit ready to go! I told her she shouldn’t swim after a whole night’s coughing, but she refused to 4 and insisted she go. From that day on, Cathy kept swimming and didn’t 5 a single practice. She always tried her best to be the best. My ten-year-old was growing and changing right before my eyes, into this determined (意志坚定的) human being. However, we don’t often think about making time to exercise as a family. While we find time for family games or movie nights, we often forget family sports. Family exercise may seem silly, but there are many benefits (益处). Form Lifelong Habits By spending family time on a physical activity together, you encourage (鼓励) your children to exercise and build lifelong habits. When children see physical activities as an enjoyable thing to do together, they may keep family exercise as a family-time tradition as they grow up. ________ Children get more life skills at home than they do anywhere else. Teamwork is taught and encouraged in sports. By exercising together, you’re encouraging teamwork and working together to reach a common goal, which helps teach the importance of goal setting as a team. Bring Encouragement Parents are great encouragers in education and sports. You can give your children encouragement when doing family sports. Studies show that family encouragement influences (影响) children’s mental health in a good way. Good family bonding (联结) with family encouragement builds confidence (自信) in children. It may be all well and good to think about exercising together as a family, but it may be difficult to get started. Here is some advice for you. ● Take turns on who gets to choose the physical activity. Maybe you enjoy traditional exercise while your child wants to dance. On your exercising day, encourage your child to follow along. Then allow your child to choose the next family physical activity. ● Staying safe is always something important to think about for not only children but parents as well. Choose an activity with your child’s abilities in mind. If some of your family members are not good at running, try to slow down or have them ride a bike along. Family exercise can be both fun and a good chance for bonding. Remember to always choose the activity as a family and stay safe. 1.Which of the following would be the best heading for Paragraph 3? Passage 3 China is making big efforts to help people control their weight and live healthier lives. The government has started a three-year “Weight Management Year” plan from 2024 to 2027. Here’s what you should know about the new guidelines: First, it’s important to check your BMI (Body Mass Index). For adults, a healthy BMI is between18. 5 and 24. If your BMI is between 24 and 28, you are overweight. A BMI of 28 or more means you are fat. Eating well is very important, and exercise is just as important! When it comes to food, choose whole grains like brown rice, fresh vegetables, and proteins such as fish, chicken, or beans. Don’t eat fried foods and sugary snacks, and also eat less salt and oil. For exercise, try to do 150—300 minutes of activities like walking, cycling, or dancing every week, and do strength exercises twice a week. If you sit for a long time while studying, stand up and stretch for 3—5 minutes every hour. Besides diet and exercise, small daily habits can also make a big difference. Teens should sleep 7hours every night because bad sleep can make you put on weight. Try to eat vegetables first, then meat and finally rice or bread during a meal to control how much you eat. Remember, losing weight isn’t about being perfect—just start with small changes, like drinking water instead of soda or taking the stairs instead of the elevator (电梯). With these easy steps, everyone can have a healthier future. 1.What is the main goal of China’s “Weight Management Year” plan? A.To make traditional Chinese food popular. B.To encourage people to join sports competitions. C.To teach students how to cook healthy meals. D.To control people’s weight and improve health. 2.What might happen if a student sits for 4 hours without standing up? A.They will finish homework faster. B.They might put on weight more easily. C.They will become stronger. D.Their BMI will improve. 3.What does the sentence “losing weight isn’t about being perfect” suggest? A.People should never make mistakes. B.Small changes are enough to start with. C.Only strict diets can help lose weight. D.Exercise is more important than diet. Passage 4 Some people ski down mountains. Others climb huge rocks or photograph dangerous animals. Why do people enjoy risky (冒险的) activities like these? Some people take risks simply because it makes them feel good. Psychologist (心理学家) Marvin says that this kind of explorers (探险者) are always looking for change and excitement. When people do something new or risky, a chemical (化学物质) in the brain creates a pleasant feeling. They love this feeling and want to experience it as often as possible. Other people don’t take risks for the feeling of excitement but to achieve a goal. For example, Mike Fay went on a dangerous 2,000-mile special journey in central Africa. He worked to help save the wildlife there. Fay’s expeditions helped create 13 national parks. For other people, such as extreme athletes (极限运动员), taking risks is part of their job. Sports psychologist Shane says extreme athletes see the world differently. In a dangerous activity, most people probably do not feel in control. Extreme athletes are different: they feel in control in dangerous situations. The danger can even help them. For example, skier Daron Rahlves says that being afraid makes him try harder to succeed. Most of us are not extreme athletes or explorers. However, we still take risks in our lives. Some of us take social risks, such as speaking in front of a large group of people. Sometimes, we take financial risks, such as buying a house. And sometimes we take career risks, such as leaving a job or starting a business. Most people take risks in some areas of life, but not in others. What kind of risk-taker are you? 1.What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 2 refer to? A.A pleasant feeling. B.Something new. C.A chemical. D.The brain. 2.How many kinds of extreme athletes or explorers are mentioned in the passage? A.Three B.Four. C.Five. D.Six. 3.Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage? A.Mike Fay is a professional risk-taker. B.Most people don’t take risks in their daily life. C.Extreme athletes deal with danger better than others. D.Daron Rahlves takes risks mainly for change and excitement. Passage 5 A lot of people play sports, but very few people become sports experts. If sports aren’t going to be your future, then why should you play them? Why should you  play sports every day? Why should you work hard and feel sore (酸痛的) the next day? Wouldn’t it be better to forget sports and only pay attention to your lessons? In fact, there are a lot of reasons to play sports. First of all, sports are a great way to exercise. Exercising keeps you healthy and strong. It also helps you stay in good condition (状态). When you exercise, your body makes endorphins (内啡肽). The more endorphins your body makes, the happier and more active you will be. Also, sports teach young people how to get on with others and work as a team. They teach young people to respect (尊重) their teachers, teammates and players from the other team. Sports can help young people stay out of trouble. If a young person plays sports, he or she may have fewer problems. This is because sports teach people about rules. They also teach people that if they work hard, they might succeed. Another good reason of sports is that they make people leave their houses. These days, a lot of people spend too much time watching TV and playing video games. When you play sports, you go outside and exercise in the sun. You take in fresh air. All of these things are important. Maybe you’re not going to become a sports expert, but that doesn’t matter. Sports will help you become a better and happier person. 1.Why does the writer use a lot of questions in Paragraph 1? A.To ask for advice. B.To lead into the topic (引出话题). C.To get answers from readers. D.To show his worries about sports. 2.What’s the possible relationship between endorphins (x) and happy feelings (y) ? A. B. C. D. 3.What is important according to Paragraph 4? A.Getting on well with others. B.Going outside and taking in fresh air. C.Respecting players from the other team. D.Working hard to become a sports expert. 4.Which is the right structure (结构) of the passage? A. B. C. D. 5.What’s the writer’s purpose (目的) of writing the passage? A.To advise to do more sports. B.To teach people how to play with others. C.To discuss what sports make people stronger. D.To ask people to make good use of their free time. Passage 6 Think about how much time you spent outdoors last week. Really “outdoors.” Walking from the car into the mall doesn’t count. Now think about how much time you spent indoors—on the Internet or playing video games or watching TV. You may say, “I play inside more than outside and I like to play games on the computer.” If so, it’s likely that you spent more time inside four walls than outside in fresh air. Kids today spend two fewer hours per week on sports and outdoor activities than kids did 20 years ago. That’s according to a University of Michigan study. Non-moving activities are more popular. The costs “include overweight, greater stress (压力), higher rates of physical and emotional illness and less joy…” says Richard Louv, writer of Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children from Nature-Deficit Disorder (自然缺失症). Play is important, even for adults. Just getting outdoors does wonders. Outdoor activity betters your senses. The next time you sit down to message your friends, take note of your senses during and after your texting. Then do the same experiment after you’ve done something outside. You will find being outdoors brings the senses to life. “Hiking, exploring, and fishing help hone all of your senses,” says Betsy Keller. She’s a professor of exercise and sports sciences at Ithaca College in New York. “Smell, sight…all of your senses are in use when you’re outside.” Outdoor play frees your mind. Are you stressed out? Having trouble focusing your mind on what you’re doing? Too much time indoors— away from the natural world—may be a cause. Louv uses a term to describe the set of problems caused by too much time indoors: nature deficit disorder. He says, “I use it to describe the price we pay for being so separated from nature.” Spending time outdoors brings you closer to the environment. When you’re out, breathe in fresh air, hear the leaves crackle underfoot and search cool birds and plants in the woods. It can help you feel more connected to the natural world. No woods nearby? Nature can be found right outside your back door or in your local park. So, the next time you sit down to spend quality time with a video game, consider treating yourself to a little outdoor play instead. 1.Richard Louv may believe that ______. A.spending too much time indoors may cause health problems B.kids today do more outdoor activities than kids in the 1990s C.kids should pay for being playing in the natural world D.hiking is a better way to exercise than fishing 2.Which of the following is a good way to enjoy outdoor play? A.Walking from your car into the restaurant. B.Spending your quality time with TV shows. C.Playing a video game of making sand buildings by the beach. D.Watching in your local park how fast the clouds are moving. 3.What does “hone” in Paragraph 4 probably mean? A.remember B.improve C.test D.lose 4.What is the passage mainly about? A.Why kids should play outside. B.Why kids prefer outdoor activities. C.How kids play games in the nature. D.How kids can get close to the nature. 题型3 阅读表达 Passage 1 Many people take running as a way to keep fit. They like to run in hot weather and enjoy the feeling of being wet through with sweat while running. Cold weather during winter months, with low temperatures and freezing cold winds, may keep many people from running in the open air. However, a new study shows that the drop in temperature is a good reason to run. In fact, running in cold weather helps improve one’s performance. Many runners might find it easier to run in winter than in hot weather. The body needs less water on a cold day than in warm weather. In addition, lower temperatures reduce stress on the body. When you run in cold weather, your heart rate is lower. John Brewer is a professor of applied sports science at St. Mary’s University in London. For this study, he and other researchers put a group of people into a room where summer and winter weather conditions are recreated. The test subjects (对象), were asked to run 10,000 meters under both conditions and their biological measurements were recorded and studied. From the study, every movement runners make produces heat. The heat can be really damaging unless the body can lose it. One way in which people lose heat is by sweating. The body loses heat through sweat. The body also loses it by transporting (输送) the blood to the surface of the skin and it puts more stress on the heart, especially in hot conditions because it’s much harder to lose heat when the outside environment is warm. As the result shows, running in hot temperatures results in 6 percent higher heart rates. When running in cold conditions, the body does not have to work hard to move blood to the skin surface. Therefore, it requires less energy. The most important thing for people who run in cold conditions is to wear the right clothing. Keep as dry as possible when exercising in low temperatures. Wear warm and light clothing to keep sweat away from your skin. So don’t let winter weather keep you indoors. Simply get ready for the low temperatures and start running. 1.Do people like to run in cold weather? 2.Why did John Brewer make a group of people run in a room? 3.How do people lose heat? 4.Why is it the most important to wear the right clothing for people running in cold condition? 5.What is the main purpose in writing this passage? Passage 2 Keeping an Old Sport Alive Though the FIFA World Cup came to an end in December 2022, the people of a special city in China were busy making soccer history of their own. Zibo in Shandong province is called “the home of soccer ball”, being the birthplace of the ancient Chinese sport of cuju. Cuju won recognition (认可) from soccer’s governing body, FIFA, as the earliest form of soccer in 2004. “Side-flicking”, “chest-down” and “shoulder-stopper” are some of the key moves mastered (掌握) by cuju players. Li Weipeng, from Linzi district of Zibo city, is a seventh-generation inheritor (传承人) of cuju. He has been practicing these skills for 18 years. Mastering different cuju skills is not easy. “At the beginning, I spent eight hours a day practicing juggling (颠) a ball. It was tiring,” Li told China Daily. He is now able to juggle a ball with his foot over 10,000 times in a row. Teaching students cuju moves is a part of Li’s job. The traditional Chinese sports cuju is now popular at primary and middle schools in Linzi. Its moves have been adapted (改编) into dances and morning exercises. “Students show great interest in playing cuju, which encourages me to spread the ancient sport,” Li told China Daily. Moreover, cuju has also become a platform for cultural exchanges. During the World Cup in Qatar, Li introduced cuju at a China-Qatar youth exchange activity held in Doha. During the exchange activity, Chinese and Qatari youth players wore traditional cuju clothing and experienced the ancient game. “As soon as we started, many soccer fans gathered around us. When we played out the different moves, they cheered for us and gave us the thumbs-up,” said Li, adding that many people were curious and wanted to communicate with the cuju players. Cuju has become a kind of sport that promotes (促进) international communication. 1.When did cuju win recognition as the earliest form of soccer from FIFA? 2.How long did Li spend practicing juggling a ball at the beginning? 3.What did Chinese and Qatari youth players do during the exchange activity? 4.Would you like to learn to play cuju? Why or why not? (Please give two reasons.) Passage 3 Running for Fun Running helps you keep fit. That’s why millions of people run several days a week and take part in races. Some runners connect running with charity (慈善). They collect money for their run and give it to people in need. Have you ever heard of the Colour Run? It is a special and popular running game known as “The happiest 5K on the planet”. The Colour Run offers a more enjoyable and healthy experience compared to traditional running races. It is famous around the world. Travis Snyder had been thinking for some time about an idea for a fun run. He hoped that skilled runners and people who enjoyed running in free time could run together. In 2012, he started the first “Colour Run” and 6,000 runners took part in it. Now it is held every year in many cities around the world with millions of people. In the activity, the runners start the run wearing something white, and at every kilometre people paint them in different colours: 1K is yellow, 2K is blue, 3K is green, 4K is pink... a big colour show! Why do people go on a Colour Run? Because it’s healthy, fun and colourful. Many people love the game because it provides a fresh and exciting experience. Their focus isn’t on the competition but enjoying the experience and the lively feeling. The Colour Run also supports charity. While running, runners have the chance to raise money for some charities, like children’s hospital. Some runners even choose to run in crazy clothes to get more attention and collect more money for those in need. But we don’t often think of martial arts as a possible activity, instead, we rule it out because we think it’s dangerous, uncommon, and even, impossible. Well, here’s some good news: you’re wrong! Martial arts is much more common than people think, and you can start learning at any age. Practicing martial arts is a great way to keep in shape (both physically and mentally). And it’s much less scary and much less difficult than it’s usually portrayed (描绘) as in movies, so worry not, you don’t need to be the karate kid to have a blast! Let’s look at what you can usually expect from martial arts of any style. Good martial arts generally requires you to focus on the position and movement of every one of your limbs (四肢), sometimes even your breathing too. Think about it: when you leave the gym, your mental state has improved and you are much calmer. This is because you’ve only paid attention to one activity. It is a great way to clear your head, and practice can help you learn to stay more focused in general (say, when you start your schoolwork afterwards). Long series of choreographed moves (including when to breath in and out) called forms are often described as “moving meditation (冥想)”; they’re meditative in the same way doing repeated moves is, but much more so. Martial arts practice can be as slow or as intense (激烈的) as you want, but it’s always extremely attractive. Martial arts also improves your coordination (协调性), and greatly improves your posture. I have personally seen students go from slouching (低头垂肩地站) and knocking things over to walking tall with their shoulders back in just a couple of months. There are many styles and countless subtypes and mix-ups of martial arts. Whichever one appeals to you, know that all of them are good choices, competitive or not. 1.What is a great way to keep in shape? 2.Why are you much calmer when you leave the gym? 3.What happens to students slouching and knocking things over in just a couple of months? 4.Would you like to work out martial arts after reading the passage? Why or why not? (Please give two reasons.) Passage 5 A Frozen Sport Rock climbing has been a popular sport for a long time. It’s still popular today, but now a lot of rock climbers are trying something new: ice climbing. Ice climbing is a lot like rock climbing. When you go rock climbing, you climb a mountain. When you go ice climbing, you climb ice. Some ice climbers climb frozen waterfalls. Others climb glaciers (冰川). Still others climb mountains that are covered in ice. Sometimes, they climb a mountain that is covered in ice only in some places. When they are climbing parts that don’t have ice, they’re rock climbing. When they’re climbing parts that have ice, they’re ice climbing. As people made better equipment (装备), ice climbing started to become easier and more popular. In 1908, a climber made special boots called “crampons”. These boots made ice climbing easier and safer. After that, more people were willing to try ice climbing. In the 1960s, another climber invented special axes. Climbers can use the axes to hit the ice. The axes go into the ice. Then the climber can pull himself or herself up. These days, a lot of people are taking ice climbing classes. In order to go ice climbing, you have to be strong and healthy. In fact, some teachers say that you should do special exercises before you start to climb. Here’s one good thing about ice climbing. You can do it in easy places or difficult places. People who want to try something simple can climb glaciers or small mountains. Those are usually pretty easy. People who want to try something more challenging can find a more difficult place. The hardest places are usually steep mountains and frozen waterfalls. However, you should never go ice climbing alone. You should always go with a teacher. A lot of people love ice climbing because it’s hard. These people like to challenge (挑战) themselves. Some say that when you get to the top of a glacier or a frozen waterfall, it’s the best feeling in the world. 1.Are many rock climbers trying ice climbing now? 2.Where can people go ice climbing? 3.What are “crampons”? 4.What’s the good thing about ice climbing? 5.Would you like to try ice climbing? 【答案】1.D 2.B 3.B 【解析】本文主要讲述了中国政府从2024年到2027年启动的“体重管理年”计划,旨在帮助人们控制体重并过上更健康的生活。 1.细节理解题。根据“China is making big efforts to help people control their weight and live healthier lives. 【答案】1.A 2.A 3.C 【解析】本文是一篇说明文。文章主要解释了人们为什么喜欢冒险活动,并通过举例和心理学家的观点来说明不同人冒险的原因。 1.词义猜测题。根据第二段“When people do something new or risky, a chemical in the brain creates a pleasant feeling. They love this feeling and want to experience it as often as possible.”可知,当人们做新的或冒险的事情时,大脑中的化学物质会产生一种愉悦的感觉,他们喜欢这种感觉并想尽可能多地体验它;据此可以推断,划线单词“it”指代的是前面提到的a pleasant feeling“一种愉悦的感觉”。故选A。 2.细节理解题。根据第二段“Some people take risks simply because it makes them feel good.”可知,一些人冒险仅仅是因为冒险能让他们感觉良好,这是第一类探险者;根据第三段“Other people don’t take risks for the feeling of excitement but to achieve a goal.”可知,其他一些人冒险不是为了刺激的感觉而是为了实现一个目标,这是第二类探险者;根据第四段“For other people, such as extreme athletes, taking risks is part of their job.”可知,对其他人来说,比如极限运动员,冒险是他们工作的一部分,这是第三类极限运动员;因此,文章一共提到了三种。故选A。 3.推理判断题。根据第四段“Sports psychologist Shane says extreme athletes see the world differently. In a dangerous activity, most people probably do not feel in control. Extreme athletes are different: they feel in control in dangerous situations. The danger can even help them.”可知,极限运动员看待世界的方式不同,在危险活动中他们能感觉到自己可以掌控局面,危险甚至能帮助他们;据此可以推断,极限运动员比其他人能更好地应对危险。故选C。 Passage 5 A lot of people play sports, but very few people become sports experts. 【答案】1.B 2.A 3.B 4.C 5.A 【解析】本文是一篇说明文,文章主要介绍了运动给人们带来的诸多好处。 1.细节理解题。根据“In fact, there are a lot of reasons to play sports.”可知,第一段提出一系列问题是为了引出文章的主题。故选B。 2.细节理解题。根据“The more endorphins your body makes, the happier and more active you will be.”可知,内啡肽分泌的越多,人越快乐。故选A。 3. 细节理解题。根据“When you play sports, you go outside and exercise in the sun. All of these things are important.”可知,去户外和阳光下锻炼,呼吸新鲜空气是重要的事情。故选B。 4. 篇章结构题。本文第一段引出话题,第二至四段分别介绍了运动的好处,第五段总结全文,故本文为“总分总”结构。故选C。 5. 主旨大意题。本文主要介绍了运动给人们带来的诸多好处。故选A。 Passage 6 Think about how much time you spent outdoors last week. 【答案】1.A 2.D 3.B 4.A 【解析】本文主要介绍了户外运动的好处。 1.细节理解题。根据“Non-moving activities are more popular. The costs ‘include overweight, greater stress (压力), higher rates of physical and emotional illness and less joy…’ says Richard Louv,”可知,Richard Louv认为不动的活动会产生一些代价,包括超重、更大的压力、更高的身体和精神疾病发病率以及更少的快乐。故选A。 2.推理判断题。根据“Nature can be found right outside your back door or in your local park.”可推知,在你当地的公园里观察云移动的速度,是享受户外运动的好方式。故选D。 3.词义猜测题。根据“You will find being outdoors brings the senses to life. ‘Hiking, exploring, and fishing help hone all of your senses’”可知,徒步旅行、探险和钓鱼有助于磨练你的所有感官,故此处划线部分和improve意义相近。故选B。 4.主旨大意题。通读全文内容可知,本文主要介绍了户外运动的好处。故选A。 题型3 阅读表达 Passage 1 Many people take running as a way to keep fit. 【答案】1.No, they don’t. 2.Because he wanted to record and study the test subjects' biological measurements when they run under different weather conditions. 3.People lose heat by sweating and transporting the blood to the surface of the skin. 4.Because wearing the right clothing can help keep as dry as possible and keep sweat away from the skin when exercising in low temperatures. 5.The main purpose is to encourage people to run in cold weather. 【解析】本文指出很多人喜欢跑步健身,但冬季寒冷天气会阻碍人们户外跑步。然而新研究表明,低温是跑步的好理由,在寒冷天气跑步有助于提升表现、减轻身体负担等。还介绍了相关研究过程及人体散热原理,最后提醒寒冷天气跑步要注意着装。 1.根据原文“Cold weather during winter months, with low temperatures and freezing cold winds, may keep many people from running in the open air.” 可知,寒冷天气会阻止很多人户外跑步,说明人们不喜欢在寒冷天气跑步。故填No, they don’t. 2.根据原文“For this study, he and other researchers put a group of people into a room where summer and winter weather conditions are recreated. (Please give two reasons.) 【答案】1.Practicing martial arts is a great way to keep in shape (both physically and mentally). 2.This is because you’ve only paid attention to one activity, which helps clear your head. 3.Students who slouch and knock things over can improve their posture and coordination, walking tall with their shoulders back in just a couple of months. 4.开放性习题,参考答案为Yes, I would like to work out martial arts because it helps improve mental focus and physical posture, and it offers a way to stay fit in an engaging manner. 【解析】本文主要介绍了练武术的好处。 1.根据第二段“Practicing martial arts is a great way to keep in shape (both physically and mentally).”可知,武术锻炼有助于保持体型。故填Practicing martial arts is a great way to keep in shape (both physically and mentally). 2.根据第三段“when you leave the gym, your mental state has improved and you are much calmer. This is because you’ve only paid attention to one activity.”可知,因为练习时专注于一个活动,所以可以帮助人更冷静,使你头脑清醒。故填This is because you’ve only paid attention to one activity, which helps clear your head. 3.根据第五段“Martial arts also improves your coordination (协调性), and greatly improves your posture. I have personally seen students go from slouching (低头垂肩地站) and knocking things over to walking tall with their shoulders back in just a couple of months.”可知,那些弯腰驼背、撞倒东西的学生可以改善他们的姿势和协调性,在短短几个月内就能够昂首挺胸地走路。故填Students who slouch and knock things over can improve their posture and coordination, walking tall with their shoulders back in just a couple of months. 4.开放性习题,言之有理即可,注意符合题目要求,参考答案为Yes, I would like to work out martial arts because it helps improve mental focus and physical posture, and it offers a way to stay fit in an engaging manner. Passage 5 A Frozen Sport Rock climbing has been a popular sport for a long time.
