China has made a big discovery in the
South China Sea.For the first time,it has
found a large clastic oilfield(碎屑岩油田)in
deep to ultra-deep layers(超深层).1.
The China National Offshore Oil
Corporation(CNOOC
said on Monday that it found the Huizhou 19-6
oilfield. It's in the eastern South China Sea.
The oilfield has more than 100 million tons of
reserves(储备).The oilfield is about 170
kilometres away from Shenzhen in Guangdong.
2.
Test drilling (showed it can
produce 413 barrels()of oil and 68,000 cubic
(立方)metres of natural gas every day.
Wang Yamin is a professor at Shandong
University. He said the South China Sea has
good conditions for this kind of oilfield.China
didn't have many oilfield reserves before. Now,
more countries are developing shale(页岩)and
clastic rock oilfields. So,this discovery is very
important for China.3.
But we still
need to explore more.
Offshore oil and gas exploration in deep
layers is hard. There are high temperatures,

high pressure(压力)and difficult conditions.
It's difficult to find big oil and gas fields there.
China's offshore oil extraction(开采)
technology is still young.Shallow-water oil
extraction in the Bohai Sea is good.
But there are still many technical
problems in deeper areas.
Peng Guangrong,a scientist,said 60
percent of new oil and gas reserves around the
world are from deep layers.Deep to ultra-deep
layers have a lot of oil and gas but not much
exploration. They will likely increase oil and
gas reserves and production in the future.
5.It said China's offshore oil and
gas production reached a new high. There were
big exploration and development breakthroughs.
Deepwater oil and gas technologies and equipment
got better. The use rate of offshore oil and gas
engineering equipment was the highest in the
world.
A.It's about 100 metres deep in the water.
B.In December 2024,CNOOC made a
report.
C.China is trying to use more clean energy
than oil.
D.It's so difficult to get oil from the
deep sea.
E.It can make China less dependent on
foreign oil.
F.There are many extraction sites in the
South China Sea,too.
G.This is a huge breakthrough in China's
offshore oil exploration.

00
Artificial intelligence (AI)is changing
education in China, from primary schools to
universities.In December,the Ministry of
Education released a plan to make Al education
common in primary and secondary schools by
2030.This plan hopes to teach students
problem-solving and digital skills and to make
them more creative.
AI is already being used in many
classrooms.In February,184 primary and
secondary schools were chosen as Al education
bases.Understanding the latest technology has
become important in the nation's education
system.
In a primary school in Chongqing, fifth
grade students used programming and voice
recognition technology to make smart lamps,
humidifiers(加湿器)and fans.At Yangzhou
High School in Jiangsu,a teacher used the
example of telling cherry blossoms from peach
blossoms to teach students about machine
learning.Changchun Experimental School in
Jilin A with robotics, drone operation and
3 D printing..An AI club is also available(可获
for students interested in the technology.
Jia Kaichao from the school said the club helps
students turn their ideas into reality.
Students also use AI tools in class.Luo
Jing from Changchun Experimental School said
Unit 6 When disaster strikes
photo translation apps and voice dictionary pens
are very useful.Students at the school often use
photo translation apps or voice dictionary pens
in their English classes. They can quickly
answer homework questions and help with
writing essays.AI is clearly making a big
difference in Chinese education.
"These tools provide quick and convenient
answers.For example,when facing difficult
homework questions,we can simply take a
picture and get the answer quickly. If we
struggle with ideas for writing essays, these AI
tools can help make some creative thoughts,
said Luo Jing.

It was November 1741,and the
Russian science ship St.Peter was losti
in the icy sea between Siberia and
Alaska.Hit by storms,the St.Peter moved
where it could. All the sailors(水手)were too
ill to control it.
Then on the morning of November 5,the
men found the land!At first, they hoped that
they'd come back to Kamchatka, from which
they'd set out five months earlier.Instead,as
they got close to the beach, they found
themselves on an island without trees or
humans. And it was the beginning of a
dangerous,ten-month fight.Whether the men
could live depended on an animal unknown to
science.
All around the island, moving in and out
with water,were large black animals.The
ship's naturalist,Georg Wilhelm Steller,had
read about manatees,or“sea cows'”that lived
south in the tropics(热带).The sea cows here,
however,were much larger.Reaching up to
about 28 feet long and weighing about 8 tons,
they were the size of small whales.
The sea cows lived in groups, the adults
creating protective circles around the young.
They used their two short flippers(鳍状肢)to
move along the rocks under the water.Seagulls
stayed and ate something on their backs.Steller
reported that every few minutes the sea cows
lifted their heads from the water to breathe.
The researchers are thought to be the first
Europeans to see the coast of Alaska. They
lived for months on almost nothing but hard

biscuits and water. On the island, the weak
men ate only what they could find, such as dead
fish washed onto the beach. Many men died
because of being short of food.Later, winter
was coming. They had to watch the sea cows
from afar.

One possible version:
After the flood, people start to get their lives
back to normal.First, they clean up the mud and
garbage left by the flood. They also disinfect their
houses and things to stop diseases from spreading.
The government helps a lot.It gives temporary
houses and daily things like food and water to the
victims. This helps them with their basic needs.
People then check and fix the broken roads, bridges
and water and electricity facilities.By doing this,
normal traffic and daily life supply can return.
Farmers work hard, too. They plant new crops in the
fields to make up for their lost money.
Slowly,day by day,people's lives become
normal again.

根据“Hit by storms.·from
which they'd set out five months earlier...they
found themselves on an island...the weak men ate
only what they could find, such as dead fish...
winter was coming. They had to watch the sea cows
from afar..”
由第二段中“Whether the men
could live depended on an animal unknown to
science.”与最后一段中“Later,winter was coming.
They had to watch the sea cows from afar..”
“Sad news for the sea cows”。
