The following 4 famous paintings—from Jan van Eyck’s portrait to Pablo Picasso’s masterpiece — have stood the test of time.
The Arnolfini Portrait
The Arnolfini Portrait of Jan van Eyck, an oil painting on wood produced in 1434, in which a man and a woman hold hands with a window behind him and a bed behind her, is undoubtedly one of the masterpieces in the National Gallery, London. This painting is as visually interesting as it is famed. It is also an informative document on fifteenth-century society, through van Eyck’s heavy use of symbolism—while husbands went out to engage in business, wives concerned themselves with domestic duties.
The Starry Night
Vincent Willem van Gogh painted The Starry Night, an oil on canvas(油画布), a moderately abstract
landscape painting of an expressive night sky over a small hillside village, during his 12-month stay at the mental hospital near Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France between 1889 and 1890. When the Museum of Modern Art in New York City purchased the painting from a private collector in 1941, it was not well known, but it has since become one of van Gogh’s most famous works.
The Harvesters
The Harvesters is an oil painting on wood completed by Pieter Bruegel the Elder in 1565.It depicts the harvest time which most commonly emerged within the months of August and September. Nicolaes Jonghelinck, a merchant banker and art collector from Antwerp, commissioned this painting. The painting has been at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City since 1919.
Guernica
Guernica, a large black-and-white oil painting, was painted by the Cubist Spanish painter, Pablo Picasso in 1937.The title “Guernica” refers to the city that was bombed by Nazi planes during the Spanish Civil War. The painting depicts the horrors of war and as a result, has come to be an anti-war symbol and a reminder of the tragedies of war. Today, the painting is housed at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid.
21. Which of the following paintings was produced earliest?
A. Guernica. B. The Harvesters. C. The Starry Night. D. The Amolfini Portrait.
22. What do we know about the painting The Starry Night?
A. It was painted on wood in oils.
B. It described the painter’s life in hospital.
C. It wasn’t widely recognized before 1941.
D. It was given away to the Museum of Modern Art in New York City by a collector.
23. Who created the painting describing the harvest seasons?
A. Pieter Bruegel the Elder. B. Vincent van Gogh. C. Jan van Eyck. D. Pablo Picasso.

In a photograph from 1967, the Swedish artist Moki. Cherry, lies on a carpet on the floor in her home, looking into the distance. She holds a book open on a page seemingly about art. Behind her, the walls are entirely covered in decorated textiles(织物)with colourful shapes and patterns. In front of her is her young daughter, the now multi-award-winning singer-songwriter Neneh Cherry, sitting near her and pointing in the direction Moki is looking at.
This image shows how Neneh Cherry sees her mother. “She was self-taught but also incredibly studious,” the now 60-year-old Neneh says, reflecting on her childhood. Neneh notes that Moki was always working to improve her practice. “She was always present, but there was a kind of intensity to it that was so beautiful,” she says. “I remember her working with fabrics on the floor. I always think of how her head was turned down on whatever area she was working on.”
Moki was an artist born in 1943 in Norrbotten, a region in the far northeast of Sweden. She created art from the 1960s until she died in 2009, exploring various mediums, including tapestry(挂毯), fashion, painting, collage and ceramics(拼贴和陶瓷), Despite her name being relatively unknown throughout her life, Moki’s work is more well-known now.

Her work is very much natural in how it can be presented. She made it not only to present it in a gallery as we are doing here, but also for concerts, clothes and theatre stages.
A renewed interest in tapestry and the acceptance of it as an art form have resulted in Moki and her work gaining more recognition. It has been shown across the globe. “So many contemporary artists are using textiles, which is great, but it’ s not that long ago that galleries did. not take that kind of work seriously, and saw it as women’s hobbies,” says Naima Karlsson, Moki’ s granddaughter.

In the port of Le Havre, the dawn light embraces the water; small boats move through the mist; tall factory chimneys(烟囱)mix their smoke with the fog—an image of beauty and harmony painted by Claude Monet in Impression, Sunrise, inviting you to step into the world of Impressionism.
Painted at dawn on November 13, 1872, this oil painting pictures a harbor scene enveloped in morning mist, and reveals the beautiful view of daybreak through the interplay of light and motion. In this painting, Monet abandoned the mainstream academic art style of his time—distinct boundaries and colors. Instead, he focused on color relationships and the effects of outdoor light, capturing the delicate changes of colors through reflections on the water surface, breaking through the limits of the art world at the time.
This artistic treasure not only showcases Monet’s unique insight into the interplay of light and color in nature but also mirrors his pioneering approach to artistic creation. Meanwhile, it describes a warm and peaceful life, representing people’s expectations for economic recovery and social stability. The industrial elements in the painting, such as the smoking chimneys, imply the development of society and economic boom at the time, suggesting the social changes and the mentality of people in late 19th century Europe.
For a thorough appreciation of this artwork and its significance in art history, one should examine the primary colors featured in the painting, such as light purple, soft red, blue-gray, and orange-yellow, and figure out how they interact to bring up the atmosphere of a sunrise. It’s also important to figure out how Monet skillfully seized the instant through the contrast of light and shadow, along with his deliberate arrangement of the sun, boats, and chimneys. More importantly, the symbolic significance of the sunrise, or what it mint symbolize in terms of hope, rebirth, or societal transformation, is a theme that viewers should consider repeatedly.

A. To convey emotion. B. To invite people to visit.

29. Which were best defines Claude Monet according to the passage?

31. What can be the most appropriate title for the text?
A. Monet: The Greatest Master of Art
B. Monet: The Pioneer of Impressionism
C. Impression, Sunrise Is an Artistic Revolution
D. Impression, Sunrise Is a Mirror for the 19th Century Europe

For centuries, what makes human creativity so precious is not only the final products it yields, but also the effort behind their creation. But in a world where AI can generate anything with the click of a button, how do we distinguish what truly matters? How does human-made art survives?
Throughout history, the most famous works of art, literature, and music have carried a sense of labor, dedication, and mastery. We don’t just admire the end product; we admire how it came to be. Masterpieces like Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” sustain not simply for their artistic beauty, but for the human stories they carry. They remind us that art is not just about beauty or skill—it is about intention, persistence, and what makes us human.
As AI floods the world with instant beauty, we’re entering an era of “aesthetic inflation”, where perfectly composed images, poetic style, and movie-like storytelling are available to anyone, instantly and at no cost. This makes us think about when beauty is effortless and endless, does human creations still have value?
But human imperfection isn’t a weakness—it’s part of who we are, shaping our understanding of humanity. Our struggles, mistakes, and limitations aren’t just difficulties to overcome—they’re part of what gives life meaning. In this light, AI’s ability to create perfect art feels almost unnatural—a rejection of the struggle that gives creativity its weight. It may achieve technical perfection—but at the cost of the original energy that makes art stir feelings within people. Even at its most impressive, AI-generated art often feels empty. It has no real emotions or experiences, and no clear creator, failing to create unexpected surprises and arouse shared emotion with audience.
Therefore, to preserve meaning, selection and context become more crucial. As AI can produce endless content, the human elements like context, narrative and the reasoning behind art become the true value source. Also, AI can be a creative collaborator rather than a replacement, refining ideas while keeping human imperfection and feeling, and acting as an amplifier(放大镜)of human vision.
32. Why do masterpieces like “Starry Night” remain valuable in the AI era?
A. They represent unique human characteristics.
B. They showcase brilliant artistic creation skill.
C. They are created through long production processes.
D. They contain human emotional depth and creative effort.
33. Why does the author mention “aesthetic inflation” in paragraph 3?
A. To demonstrate AI’s efficiency in art creation.
B. To prove that AI-generated art is more affordable.
C. To criticize the overuse of technology in art creation.
D. To stress the devaluation of beauty due to mass production.
34. How does the author develop the argument in the passage?
A. By giving examples. B. By giving definitions.
C. By making comparisons. D. By making classifications.
35. What is a suitable title for the text?
A. A Guide to Perfect Art with AI
B. How to Create Art in the Age of AI
C. Why Human Art Still Matters in the AI Age
D. A New Revolution in Art Creation brought by AI

It was the day of the school’s art exhibition. Students from various classes had been preparing their artworks for weeks. The exhibition hall was filled with many paintings, sculptures, and handicrafts, each one carefully crafted and placed to display the students’ best efforts. The walls seemed to come alive with colors and shapes, as the morning sunlight streamed through the high windows, casting a warm light over the displays.
Miss Smith, the art teacher, was walking around, admiring the students’ wonderful work. Suddenly, she noticed that Jack, one of her most talented students, was standing alone in front of his painting, looking rather depressed. His painting, which was usually filled with lively colors and unique perspectives(视角), seemed dull and unfinished today. The edges were rough, and the colors seemed to mix together without the usual harmony.
Miss Smith went over and gently asked Jack what the matter was. Jack hesitated, and then admitted that he had been going through a tough time lately. His parents were pressuring him to focus more on academics and were considering making him quit art classes. This had been weighing heavily on his mind, and he had lost his inspiration. He had spent many sleepless nights wondering how to balance his love for art with his parents’ expectations.
Miss Smith understood the situation all too well. She knew Jack had a real gift for art and didn’t want to see him give up so easily. She told Jack that she would talk to his parents and try to make them understand his passion. She told stories of famous artists who had faced similar challenges but had gone on pursuing their dreams. She also showed Jack some sketches(素描)she had made when she was young and had faced doubts about her own artistic path. Jack’s eyes widened slightly as he saw the familiar struggles in his teacher’s past works.

A Famous Chinese Painting—Six Galloping Horses
Xu Beihong is a great modern Chinese painter, and he is famous for painting horses. The painting “Six
Galloping Horses” is one of his best works. In this painting, six horses are running in a lively way: their muscles are well drawn, their horse hair blows in the wind, and each horse looks very powerful. Xu mixed Western painting skills with traditional Chinese ink painting style, which makes the horses look extremely real.
This painting is more than just a picture of horses—it passes on a spirit of courage and hard work. At that
time, it encouraged many Chinese people to work hard for the country’s development. Its special artistic style and positive message make it a precious part of modern Chinese art, and it still pushes people to move forward today.

Moki’s creations beautified everything from musicians’ costumes to her family’s everyday clothes, to album covers and the backdrop of music concerts.

He was having a really bad day because his favourite team just lost in the championships. I can understand how difficult that would be, but I don't think IT gives him the right to upset everyone else. I agree, but tom has never been very good at dealing with things like that. Remember when his dog max ran away? He got set after school and just walked home by himself. He forgot all about our drama club meeting, but then he felt really bad afterwards and apologized. So what are you saying? I'm just saying that would help if we were a little more forgiving when you want someone to be understanding if you were having a bad day. I guess. So and now that I think about IT, there was that time when I lost all my computer files and tom helped me get them all back. I had completely forgotten about that. He worked on IT for hours.

C. It wasn’t widely recognized before 1941.
D. It was given away to the Museum of Modern Art in New York City by a collector.
23. Who created the painting describing the harvest seasons?

Moki’s creations beautified everything from musicians’ costumes to her family’s everyday clothes, to album covers and the backdrop of music concerts.
24. Why is a photograph described in paragraph 1?
A. To discuss a famous work by Moki Cherry.
B. To display how Moki Cherry worked at her studio.
C. To introduce the environment Moki Cherry lived in.
D. To show what Moki Cherry was like in her daughter’s eyes.
25. What does the underlined word “studious” in paragraph 2 mean?
A. Eye-catching. B. Heart-warming. C. Hard-working. D. Quick-thinking.
26. What can be learned about Moki Cherry’s creations?
A. They decorated a range of items. B. They attracted many women artists.
C. They were created with natural materials. D. They were designed to target gallery lovers.
27. What would be the best title for the text?
A. The Story Of An Old Photograph B. Moki Cherry: An Unrecognised Artist
C. Textile Tapestry: A Renewed Art Form D. Three Generations Come Together For Art Show
【答案】24. D 25. C 26. A 27. B

24. 推理判断题。根据第一段中“In a photograph from 1967, the Swedish artist Moki. Cherry, lies on a carpet on the floor in her home, looking into the distance. She holds a book open on a page seemingly about art. Behind her, the walls are entirely covered in decorated textiles(织物)with colourful shapes and patterns. In front of her is her young daughter, the now multi-award-winning singer-songwriter Neneh Cherry, sitting near her and pointing in the direction Moki is looking at.(在1967年的一张照片中,瑞典艺术家Moki.
根据划线词前面的内容“She was self-taught(她自学成才)”以及后文“Neneh notes that Moki was always working to improve her practice.(Neneh注意到Moki一直在努力改进她的练习)”可知,此处表示在Neneh的眼中,母亲Moki是一个自学成才并且极其勤奋的人,因为她总是在努力改进提升自己的练习。故划线词与C选项“Hard-working.(勤奋的)”为同义词,故选C。
26. 细节理解题。根据文章第四段“Moki’s creations beautified everything from musicians’ costumes to her family’s everyday clothes, to album covers and the backdrop of music concerts.(从音乐家的服装到她家人的日常服装,再到专辑封面和音乐会的背景,Moki的作品美化了一切)”可知,Moki Cherry的创作装饰了许多东西,从音乐家的服装到家庭的日常衣物,再到专辑封面和音乐会的背景。因此,可以了解到她的创作装饰了一系列物品,故选A。

28. What is the author’s purpose by describing the port at the beginning?
A. To convey emotion. B. To invite people to visit.
C. To arouse readers’ interest. D. To showcase literary talent.
29. Which were best defines Claude Monet according to the passage?
A. Conservative. B. Innovative. C. Passive. D. Traditional.
30. Which of the following aspects is NOT analyzed in the text?
A. The use of primary colors in the painting.
B. The impact of industrial development on society.
C. The influence of Monet’s painting on future generations.
D. Monet’s technique in capturing the interplay of light and color.
31. What can be the most appropriate title for the text?
A. Monet: The Greatest Master of Art

C. Impression, Sunrise Is an Artistic Revolution
D. Impression, Sunrise Is a Mirror for the 19th Century Europe

28. 推理判断题。根据第一段“In the port of Le Havre, the dawn light embraces the water; small boats move through the mist; tall factory chimneys(烟囱)mix their smoke with the fog—an image of beauty and harmony painted by Claude Monet in Impression, Sunrise, inviting you to step into the world of Impressionism.(在勒阿弗尔港,晨光拥抱着水面;小船在雾中穿行;高大的工厂烟囱将烟与雾混合在一起——克劳德·莫奈在《日出·印象》中描绘的美丽和谐的画面,邀请你走进印象派的世界)”可知,文章开头通过详细描述勒阿弗尔港的黎明景色,使用了生动的视觉语言来吸引读者。这种描述手法的目的是抓住读者的注意力,使他们对文章的主题产生兴趣,并激发其继续阅读下去的欲望,故选C。
29. 推理判断题。根据第二段“In this painting, Monet abandoned the mainstream academic art style of his time—distinct boundaries and colors. Instead, he focused on color relationships and the effects of outdoor light, capturing the delicate changes of colors through reflections on the water surface, breakıng through the limits of the art world at the time.(在这幅画中,莫奈抛弃了当时主流的学院派艺术风格——鲜明的边界和色彩。
根据第三段“This artistic treasure not only showcases Monet’s unique insight into the interplay of light and color in nature but also mirrors his pioneering approach to artistic creation. Meanwhile, it describes a warm and peaceful life, representing people’s expectations for economic recovery and social stability. The industrial elements in the painting, such as the smoking chimneys, imply the development of society and economic boom at the time, suggesting the social changes and the mentality of people in late 19th century Europe.(这幅艺术珍品不仅展示了莫奈对自然中光与色相互作用的独特见解,也反映了他开创性的艺术创作方法。
根据第一段“In the port of Le Havre, the dawn light embraces the water; small boats move through the mist; tall factory chimneys(烟囱)mix their smoke with the fog—an image of beauty and harmony painted by Claude Monet in Impression, Sunrise, inviting you to step into the world of Impressionism.(在勒阿弗尔港,晨光拥抱着水面;小船在雾中穿行;高大的工厂烟囱将烟与雾混合在一起——克劳德·莫奈在《日出·印象》中描绘的美丽和谐的画面,邀请你走进印象派的世界)”以及纵观全文可知,这篇文章主要对莫奈的画作《日出·印象》作了详细的描述和深入分析,重点是这幅画作而非画家莫奈。
D
【答案】32. D 33. D 34. C 35. C
【语篇导读】本文是一篇议论文。文章探讨了在人工智能时代,人类艺术如何存续,指出人类艺术因包含情感深度和创作努力而仍具价值,AI可作为创作伙伴。
32. 细节理解题。根据第二段中“Masterpieces like Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” sustain not simply for their artistic beauty, but for the human stories they carry. They remind us that art is not just about beauty or skill—it is about intention, persistence, and what makes us human.(像梵高的《星夜》这样的杰作之所以经久不衰,不仅仅是因为它们的艺术之美,还因为它们承载着人类的故事。它们提醒我们,艺术不仅仅关乎美或技巧——它关乎意图、坚持以及使我们成为人类的东西)”可知,《星夜》等杰作在人工智能时代仍有价值是因为它们承载着人类的故事,包含人类的情感深度和创作努力,故选D项。
33. 推理判断题。根据第三段中“As AI floods the world with instant beauty, we’re entering an era of “aesthetic inflation”, where perfectly composed images, poetic style, and movie like storytelling are available to anyone, instantly and at no cost. This makes us think about when beauty is effortless and endless, does human creations still have value?(随着人工智能用即时之美充斥世界,我们正在进入一个“审美通胀”的时代,在这个时代,完美构图的图像、诗意的风格和电影般的叙事任何人都可以即时免费获得。这让我们思考,当美来得轻而易举且无穷无尽时,人类的创作还有价值吗?)”可知,作者提到“审美通胀”是为了强调由于大规模生产导致美的贬值,故选D项。
34. 推理判断题。根据第四段中“Our struggles, mistakes, and limitations aren’t just difficulties to overcome—they’re part of what gives life meaning. In this light, AI’s ability to create perfect art feels almost unnatural—a rejection of the struggle that gives creativity its weight. It may achieve technical perfection—but at the cost of the original energy that makes art stir feelings within people. Even at its most impressive, AI generated art often feels empty. It has no real emotions or experiences, and no clear creator, failing to create unexpected surprises and arouse shared emotion with audience.(我们的奋斗、错误和局限不仅仅是需要克服的困难——它们是赋予生命意义的一部分。
通读全文,结合第一段中“But in a world where AI can generate anything with the click of a button, how do we distinguish what truly matters? How does human made art survives?(但在一个人工智能只需点击一下按钮就能生成任何东西的世界里,我们如何区分真正重要的东西呢?人类制作的艺术如何存续呢?)”和第二段中“They remind us that art is not just about beauty or skill—it is about intention, persistence, and what makes us human.(像它们提醒我们,艺术不仅仅关乎美或技巧——它关乎意图、坚持以及使我们成为人类的东西)”以及后文对人类艺术价值的阐述可知,本文主要探讨了在人工智能时代人类艺术为何仍然重要。故C项“Why Human Art Still Matters in the AI Age(为什么在人工智能时代人类艺术仍然重要)”能概括文章内容,最适合做文章标题,故选C项。

At that
