Since its founding, the SCO has stayed committed to the Shanghai Spirit, strengthening solidarity and mutual trust, deepening practical cooperation, and taking an active part in international and regional affairs. The SCO has grown into a significant force in promoting a new type of international relations and building a community with a shared future for humanity.
At present, the century-defining transformation is accelerating across the world, with a marked increase in factors of instability, uncertainty, and unpredictability. The SCO thus bears an even greater responsibility for maintaining regional peace and stability and promoting development and prosperity of all countries.
At this Summit, we are tasked with an important mission: to build consensus among all parties, ignite momentum for cooperation, and draw up a blueprint for development. Tomorrow, I will join our colleagues at the Meeting of the Council of Heads of Member States. We will also convene the "SCO Plus" Meeting with leaders of non-SCO members and international organizations. We will focus on how to strengthen cooperation, promote development, and improve global governance.
I am confident that with the collective efforts of all parties, this Summit will be a complete success and the SCO will play an even greater role, achieve greater development, and make greater contribution to strengthening solidarity and cooperation among the member states, pooling the strength of the Global South, and promoting the cause of human advancement.

Passage2阅读理解
(2026·湖北省楚天协作体高三上学期开学)
Jim Curry lights the furnace (火炉) of his portable blacksmith’s shop in the parking lot of Christ Episcopal Church in Guilford, Connecticut. The furnace glows orange and lets off a low roar. It’ll get up to 2,000 degrees, hot enough to soften the metal of a tray of disassembled shotgun parts.
A crowd is watching, and Curry picks out a 9-year-old named Oliver to help him. Oliver swings cautiously at first, flakes of red-hot metal falling around his feet. He reshapes it into a trowel you could use to plant flowers in a garden. “It was exciting,” Oliver says. “I love the fact that you can take metal that’s random and shape it into something useful.”
Curry is a co-founder of Swords to Plowshares Northeast, the organization putting on this event, which helps police departments manage their gun buyback programs and repurpose the items into gardening tools. Curry says he was inspired by a Mennonite group in Colorado that reforged (重新锻造) useless items into garden tools. Those doing the repurposing are often prisoners, volunteer blacksmiths or eager participants. The finished tools are donated to community gardens and agricultural high schools and the harvested vegetables donated to soup kitchens and homeless shelters, according to the group’s website.
Mary Ann Osborne first volunteered with Swords to Plowshares when a family member fell victim to violence. She helps collect items through police buybacks. “You see the items lying there and then you see them get broken down,” she says. “And then you see people hammer (捶打) them, and then you see people digging their gardens and something grows. You actually see the transformation.” She says the hammer and forge are powerful symbols and the negative forces can be reshaped into something positive and peaceful.
Curry wears a cross around his neck. “It’s made out of pieces of an AK-47,” he says. “But God takes that element and then God’s love breaks it apart, reshapes it, then transforms it into the sign of greatest hope — the cross. And that’s why I wear it.”
5.How does Oliver feel about the experience of reshaping the metal?
A.He thought it’s boring and pointless.
B.He found it frightening and dangerous.
C.He was frustrated by the difficulty of the task.
D.He felt excited and inspired by the transformation.
6.What is the main purpose of Swords to Plowshares Northeast?
A.To sell gardening tools to schools. B.To remake guns into gardening tools.
C.To advocate for community safety measures. D.To provide materials for police departments.
7.Which of the following can best describe Curry?
A.Conservative and selfless. B.Enterprising and devoted.
C.Dismissive and adventurous. D.Innovative and sympathetic.
8.What do we know about Mary Ann Osborne?
A.She was enthusiastic about gardening.
B.She thought highly of Curry’s organization.
C.She trained volunteers in metalworking skills.
D.She founded the Mennonite group that inspired Curry.
【长难句分析】
【文章原句】Curry is a co-founder of Swords to Plowshares Northeast, the organization putting on this event, which helps police departments manage their gun buyback programs and repurpose the items into gardening tools.
【句式分析】 这个句子是一个复合句。主句是Curry is a co-founder of Swords to Plowshares Northeast, the organization putting on this event是Swords to Plowshares Northeast的同位语,which helps police departments manage their gun……

Shanghai, known for its towering skyscrapers and busy streets, might seem an unlikely place for beekeeping. Yet, Marco Sentinelli, an Italian businessman, is determined to make it happen.
Marco’s relationship with bees stretches back to his days in Italy two decades ago. When the fruit trees he planted were not producing anything, he realized the absence of bees was to blame. He then began to study beekeeping. 1
Upon moving to Shanghai seven years ago, Marco initially thought his beekeeping days were over. 2 Before long, the local government came to ask him to help with pollination (授粉) services, and some of his friends also brought their children to get up close with bees.
In 2024, Marco launched a non-profit organization called “Urban Bees Shanghai,” which trains volunteers to manage beehives (蜂巢) in communities across the city. 3 It has attracted about 2,000 followers, many of them young people who want to do beekeeping purely out of interest.
4 The reasons lie in the rapid expansion of cities and the public’s lack of awareness of the importance of bees. Additionally, since many people fear bees, their nests are often mistaken for wasp (黄蜂) nests and completely removed.
To help more people learn about bees, Marco is advocating for responsible beekeeping within the city. He has already taken the initiative to educate local fire stations on safe bee removal, in the hope of saving local hives. 5
Marco envisions a greener, more biodiverse Shanghai. “If you place beehives on a farm, you can harvest 10 to 20 times more crops,” he said. “If we extend this into our city, we can only imagine how many more flowers and plants we can have.”
A.So far, he has rescued six or seven hives.
B.Soon, he was drawn by this fascinating hobby.
C.It’s important to draw young people to the beehives.
D.The organization now manages 20 beehives across the city.
E.Its population is reducing sharply because of our fear of them.
F.However, in 2023, he felt the pull to return to his beloved hobby.
G.Urban beekeeping is also facing great challenges, according to Marco.

Earthshot Prize
Is it possible that by 2030, we could have a world with no waste? That is the objective of the Earthshot Prize.

Passage 3 阅读七选五
(2026·福建省(全国名校联盟高三上学期开学摸底联考)
阅读下面短文,在空白处填入1个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。
