Unit 3 Be healthy, be happy-F Project 1. Content Overview This unit focuses on the theme of "health and happiness". The project in this unit requires students to conduct a survey about healthy lifestyles and then present their findings. Through this project, students will not only improve their language skills but also enhance their understanding of healthy living. They will learn how to design a questionnaire, collect data, analyze the results, and finally present their work in both written and oral forms. 教学目标 2.1 Language Knowledge Students will be able to master and use relevant vocabulary about health and daily life, such as "exercise", "diet", "sleep", "habit", etc. Students will be able to use common sentence patterns for asking questions and making statements, like "How often do you...?", "It's important to...", "I think... is good for...". 2.2 Language Skills Listening: Students can understand key information in interviews and group discussions related to healthy lifestyles. Speaking: Students can communicate fluently about healthy living topics, express their opinions and findings clearly. Reading: Students can read and understand articles, questionnaires, and reports about healthy lifestyles, and extract useful information. Writing: Students can write a complete report about the survey results, including an introduction, main body, and conclusion. 2.3 Learning Strategies Students learn to cooperate with group members, divide tasks, and complete the project together. Students learn how to use various resources, such as the Internet, books, and magazines, to collect information. 2.4 Cultural Awareness Students understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle in different cultures and the commonalities and differences in healthy living concepts around the world. 2.5 Affective Attitudes Students develop an interest in exploring healthy living methods and a positive attitude towards maintaining good health. 教学重难点 3.1 Key Points Designing a scientific and reasonable questionnaire about healthy lifestyles. Conducting surveys, collecting and analyzing data accurately. Presenting the survey results clearly and coherently in English, both in writing and orally. 3.2 Difficult Points Analyzing the survey data from different perspectives and drawing meaningful conclusions. Using appropriate language and expressions to present the findings vividly and persuasively. 4.1 Vocabulary Health-related nouns: health, exercise, diet, sleep, habit, lifestyle, fitness, illness, etc. Verbs: exercise, keep, maintain, improve, develop, form, etc. Adjectives and adverbs: healthy, unhealthy, regularly, often, seldom, always, important, necessary, etc. 4.2 Sentence Patterns Question patterns: How often do you exercise? What do you usually eat for breakfast? How many hours do you sleep every night? Do you have any good health habits? Statement patterns: It's important to exercise regularly. Eating a balanced diet is good for our health. We should get enough sleep every day. I think developing good health habits can make us happy. 4.3 Grammar Focus Simple present tense is mainly used to describe daily habits and general facts. For example, "I exercise three times a week." "He always eats fruits after meals." The usage of "It is + adj. + to do sth.", such as "It is necessary to drink enough water every day." 教学过程 5.1 Lead-in (5 minutes) Show some pictures about different lifestyles, such as people exercising in the park, eating junk food, staying up late, etc. Ask students: "What kind of lifestyle do you think is healthy? Why?" Let students discuss in pairs and then share their ideas with the class. 5.2 Knowledge Presentation (10 minutes) Present the key vocabulary and sentence patterns related to healthy lifestyles on the PPT. Explain the meanings and usages of new words and phrases, and give some examples. For example, for the word "exercise", show different forms of exercise pictures and say "We can exercise in many ways, such as running, swimming, and playing basketball. Exercise is good for our health. We should exercise regularly." Drill the sentence patterns with students. Let students ask and answer questions in pairs using the given sentence patterns. 5.3 Questionnaire Design (10 minutes) Divide students into groups of four or five. Guide students to design a questionnaire about healthy lifestyles. First, brainstorm in groups about the aspects to be included in the questionnaire, such as exercise frequency, diet habits, sleep quality, etc. Then, each group member is responsible for writing down several questions. For example, one member can write questions about exercise, like "How many times a week do you exercise? What kind of exercise do you like best?" Another member can write questions about diet, such as "Do you eat vegetables every day? How often do you eat junk food?" After that, the group members discuss and finalize the questionnaire, making sure the questions are clear, easy to understand, and cover all the important aspects. 5.4 Survey and Data Collection (10 minutes) Each group leaves the classroom and conducts the survey among other classmates. They need to interview at least 10 students. During the interview, group members should be polite, ask questions clearly, and record the answers accurately. After collecting enough data, return to the classroom and organize the data. Each group can use a table to record the data, for example, making a table with columns of "Questions", "Answers", and "Number of People Choosing This Answer". 5.5 Data Analysis and Report Outline (5 minutes) Guide each group to analyze the data they collected. Look for patterns, differences, and commonalities in the answers. For example, if most students answer that they exercise less than three times a week, this indicates that students in general may not have enough exercise. Then, help students make an outline for their report. The outline should include an introduction (introducing the purpose of the survey), main body (presenting the survey results, including data and analysis), and conclusion (summarizing the main findings and giving some suggestions). 5.6 Homework Assignment (5 minutes) Ask students to complete the written report based on the outline at home. They should use the data they collected and analyzed, and express their ideas clearly in English. Remind students to pay attention to grammar, spelling, and the logical structure of the report. 教学反思 In this class, students were actively involved in the process of designing the questionnaire, conducting the survey, and analyzing the data. The group work effectively improved their cooperation ability and communication skills. However, some students still had difficulties in using accurate English to express their ideas during the discussion and reporting. In future teaching, more oral practice activities related to real-life topics should be provided to improve their language proficiency. When analyzing the data, some groups had trouble drawing in-depth conclusions. Teachers need to give more guidance and examples in class to help students think from different perspectives and improve their data analysis ability. Overall, through this project-based learning, students had a deeper understanding of healthy lifestyles and also made progress in their language learning. In the follow-up classes, more time can be spent on sharing and evaluating students' reports to further enhance their learning effect. 2 / 37 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
