Step1. Warm-up & Lead-in

- Introduce the lesson topic: “Today, we’ll learn about a special kind of poem—five-line poem. Let’s explore its pattern in Lesson 20: Say It in Five.”
Step2. New Words Learning
- Present the new words text, single, and century on PPT with definitions and example sentences:

- single: only one. Example: “This poem talks about a single topic.”
- century: a period of 100 years. Example: “It was created in the nineteenth century.”
- Ask students to make sentences with these words individually and check their answers.
Step3. Text Comprehension: Structure of Five-line Poems
- Guide students to read the passage about five-line poems. Ask: “Who created this style of poem? How many lines does it have? What’s special about each line?”
- Analyze the example poem “Computer” line by line:

Line 2: 2 words (description, noun + adjective or two adjectives).
Line 3: 3 words (describe what the topic does).
Line 4: 4 words (express a thought or feeling).
Line 5: 1 word (summary).
- Walk around to provide guidance and help with vocabulary or grammar.
