It helps us get along with others and b 46 strong relationships. When we were babies, we giggled (咯咯笑) at our parents’ funny faces. As we grow older, we learn to make others laugh too. But here comes an interesting question: Is laughter o 47 a human thing? Scientists have been watching animals closely, and they found some amazing things. Have you ever seen a dog let you get close to its t 48 and then quickly run away playfully? Charles Darwin, a famous biology scientist, thought this was like a little joke dogs play. Marc Bekoff, a biology professor watched dogs playfully tease (捉弄) each other. They would walk slowly towards each other and then s 49 run away. He believed that dogs do this for fun and that animals might do it to deal with stress. In 2024 study, Isabelle Laumer and her team studied four kinds of apes. They saw 18 different ways that apes t 50 each other. Young apes would quietly walk up behind an adult, give them a l 51 push to surprise them, and then wait to see how the adult would react. This is just like what human children do when they play tricks. So, people may have started to be able to tell jokes and u 52 funny things a long time ago in human history. What about laughing? While playing, dogs sometimes make a breathy sound that is like laughter. Dolphins make happy n 53 when they are play-fighting. Rats make a joyful squeak (吱吱声) similar to a giggle when people tickle them, says Jeffrey Burgdorf, professor at Northwestern University. But, is a rat’s giggle really a sign that it has a sense of humour (幽默感)? Are the apes just playing a 54 for fun or do they just want to get attention? B Construction (建筑) is one of the biggest users of energy and one of the biggest polluters. According to AI Magazine, construction is responsible for using 38% of world energy. The building part alone takes up almost 55% of final energy use and 33% of greenhouse gases. It’s also well known that steel produces too much material waste in building construction. Because of this big challenge, the future of sustainable (可持续的) construction may lie with AI. AI is able to study building efficiency (效率) performance by grouping data to find the best chances for sustainable material usage. With a tool like AI, the future of sustainable construction could progress much faster than in the past. Besides, AI helps architects (建筑师) work with new tools and sustainable materials to create our better buildings and cities of the future. For example, construction 3D printing guided by AI can offer better choices for building materials to save money, and map out how construction materials could be recycled. In a professional article, AI is praised as a tool for sustainable construction, “In recent years, AI has become a promising tool for construction. AI can examine a large number of data sets on weather conditions and help to make full use of building systems for energy efficiency, water protection and other goals.” AI can be used to speed up the future of sustainable construction to set standards for the industry, and make construction more efficient and affordable. Like any other computer, AI is a tool that is particularly good at studying data sets, but for the moment it still requires smart and ethical (有道德的) human beings to lead its work. All of that has to be done with respect for humans, so it’s really up to us to make it work. 31.How is paragraph 1 developed? A.By listing numbers. B.By telling stories. C.By expressing feelings. D.By making comparisons. 32.How can AI help architects? A.Produce sustainable steel. B.Draw maps of dream cities. C.Invent recyclable 3D printers. Why do animals tease and play tricks on each other? “In humans, humour can serve as an ice-breaker, helping us make friends and get closer to others,” says Laumer. “We don’t know if it’s the s 55 in apes or other animals, but it’s possible.” 五、选词填空(共10小题; 每小题1分, 满分10分) carpenter’s,  workbench,  tailor’s,  saw,  spanner,  countdown clock,  crater,  headset,  screen,  screwdriver 56.A workshop for making things with wood. 57.The round hole at the top of a volcano, or a hole in the ground. 58.A virtual clock on a landing page that counts down from a certain number or date to indicate the beginning or end of an event or offer. 59.Flat part of a television or computer monitor that shows the images or text. 60.A tool used for turning nuts and bolts. 61.A place where clothes are made or repaired. 62.A heavy wooden table on which people use tools such as a hammer and nails. 63.It is a tool, manual or powered, used for turning screws. 64.A hand tool for cutting wood or other materials. 65.A piece of equipment worn on the head that allows someone to hear sound when using a phone, music, or computer system. 六、阅读表达(共 5 小题; 每小题 2分, 满分10分) 阅读下面短文,根据短文内容回答问题。 In November 2023, a large new airship called Pathfinder 1 made its first test flight (飞行) in California.
